SIMPLY STEAMED BEETS RECIPE
4 medium-sized beets (about one pound)
2 teaspoons sherry vinegar
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
Fresh chopped herbs (dill, parsley, chives, etc.)
Salt and pepper to taste
Scrub beets clean and then place them in a steamer basket and cook for about 30 minutes or until tender all the way through.
Once the beets are cool enough to handle, run them under cold water and rub the skins off.
Cut into small bite-sized pieces. Toss with vinegar and oil and finish with herbs, salt and pepper.
NOTES
Uncooked beets will keep in the fridge for about 14 days. Steamed beets can be stored in an airtight container or zip-top baggie for 3-5 days.

Today I'm bringing it back to the basics and teaching you how to cook beets! My favorite way to cook my beets is to steam them - it's quick, easy, and the least messy cooking technique (IMO!). I hope you enjoy this basic cooking technique for beets and use them in a variety of dishes throughout the week. XO Dani
One side note discovered by Oprah is that you might think that you have a medical emargency if you don't remember it turns everthing in the restroom a blood color. 🤣
Haha!! This is a good reminder and very true.
Start kiya hun mujhe bhi😮😮😮😮😮😮 I love you 😍😍😍😍😍🤔❣️♥️🖤
I cook the beetroots in my pressure cooker. Very easy as well, just 11 minutes. I also do the same as you and add olive oil and apple cider vinegar plus salt and black pepper. Delicious and good for people with high blood pressure as the nitrates in the beetroot relaxes the blood vessels. I love your channel.
Hi Dani, thank you so much for your video. My sister fixed me beets (packaged from Costco) as a side dish for dinner the other night and I found them delicious. I'm on TH-cam to learn how to prepare them (and learn how to cook at age 75) since my wife passed away. I came upon a lot of videos on the subject and I found your method the best. I went with your info on where to get a steamer and ordered one from amazon. It came last night and I'm gonna try my hand at cooking my first beets per your recipe! Thanks again and God bless you.
I’m 15 years old and your videos are always so fun to watch and get inspired from 🙂
In Morocco, we make a very refreshing cold soup with beets. We grate 2 cooked beets and 1 peeled apple on the fine size of the grater, then we add some fresh orange juice to the soup consistency of one's liking and 1 Tablespoon orange blossom water. 1 to 2 tablespoon sugar is optional. We chill the mixture and serve in small soup bowls as a 1st course.
I m Moroccan never heard of this reciepe
I love beets, I saw this video a few years ago on your channel and steamed them. They turned out great. I love the green too. Thanks for sharing. Stay well and safe.
I love hr greens as well! So yummy.
Thanks for reminding me about beets ❣️
It's my pleasure. enjoy them!
I have a yummy salad recipe that uses beets but I rarely make it because of the whole roasting process! I am definitely going to try steaming them!
Steaming your beets is a game changer - SO much easier.
That's a beautiful steamer basket and your way is definitely easier, healthier, and faster than roasting them. I also appreciate your comment about cutting red beets on a plastic cutting board. Yellow beets have a great taste too!
Thanks! And I agree, yellow beets are delicious as well.
My mother used to pick the beets when they were pretty small & cook them with the greens. So yummy! The greens are better than cooked spinach.
Agreed! Sauteed beet greens are really delicious.

Thank you!
Thank you, Dani! I've been wanting to incorporate this nutritional goldmine into my family's vegetable roster
I love beets! And beet greens! I usually use your roasting recipe, because it's super easy. But, I'll definitely give steaming a try.
If you think roasting is easy, you will see - this is even easier! LMK what you think!
I juice the beet greens. They are sweet and delicious and loaded with nutrients
Great video Dani. I made fresh beets for the first time last year with the help of a well seasoned elder. It was steamed in a pot with just a drop of water. Yummy. I love your techniques and tips. I look forward to cooking them soon. Thanks.
I'm so glad the tips are helpful! Enjoy the beets.
Hi and wonderful info, Dani. Steam them, will do! I love beets myself! Cook the greens like spinach. I've never thought of doing that. Thanks sweetie!! ❤ I'm a glover ☺️
Thanks, GinaFriens1690! I hope you get to try them - I really love to prepare this way - it's super easy!

We love beets but we never tried fixing them from raw. We buy canned. Thank you Dani ❤️
Canned works too! Although I do feel fresh beets have a little more flavor.
I’m buying some tomorrow. I always peeled them before cooking but this is way easier! Side note …there is some pretty good beet soup recipes too. I also have a smoothie recipe book that has combinations including beets. Thanks for a great tutorial.
Super fun ideas! I want to make a beet smoothie now!
Interesting approach! Lots of details. May I ask if the steamer you are showing in video 3-Quart Steamer Pot or 5? I am going to purchase it but need to know the size as I don;t want to go too big and the size of the steamer in your video looks good. Thank you!
It is a 3-quart! But I also have the 5-quart and use it often for veggies like broccoli and cauliflower.
Thanks you very much 🙏 super healthy beets ☺️☺️ tasty recipe 😋 amazing 🤩
Ooo these look soooo good! I just love eating red beets. I am toying with the idea of trying to grow red beets in my garden next year
Very easy and delecious
I agree! Such an easy way to cook beets.

Thank you for good and healthy recepie❤I love beetroot
Great tips 👍many thanks ☺️
It’s my pleasure! Glad it was helpful.
Great ideas Dani, I love my beets esp roasted in salads yummo 🤩
I'm curious. Do you roast them in foil or cut into chunks directly on a roasting pan?
@@CleanandDeliciousDani I like to boil them first a little then I put them in the roast pan add little bit of oil some seasoning then roast for 30 mins , and when cooled I like to put it in my salad yum! 👍
Thank you, enjoyed your video on the beets.❤
Healthy Yummy!!😋
Enjoy them!
I love love love beets❤
Thank you for sharing this .
I love it .
I’ve always roasted mine, but now I have to try the steaming method!
I'm curious. Do you roast them in foil or cut into chunks directly on a roasting pan?
@@CleanandDeliciousDani I wrap them loosely in foil
What's the name of the olive oil you use please and thank you
Wow so simple ❤
Is there any point to leaving the long skinny root at the base of the beet while cooking and prepping, or can it just be cut off to start with?
I love beets ❤️
Me too!!
I love beets!
Same!
How long do they last in the fridge?
If I don't have a steamer can I boil then and for how long
I will give it a go!
Happy new year
Delicious Dani😊
Thank you!!
May I please share this video on my page❓
Thank you so much!
I often don't even cook beets. I grate them into a container just like grating carrots and sprinkle them onto salads.
They are great for the liver.
That is a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad it was helpful! Anf thank you!! XO

Trim the leaves off the beets and wash the and leaves and chop them and immediately freeze them. They freeze well and you can throw them into a recipe or easily cook them.

Thank you Dani, I'm so glad to find you as I really like the whole presentation! Now I can have fun with your healthy recipes. Best of luck to you in 2025 (at least!)
Hey lovely! May I ask why you don’t mention calories anymore? It used to be so easy to choose recipes from your channel 😭
Thank goodness, I’ve been boiling mine and they never get really tender. The steamer is in the drawer, no longer it’s got work to do.
I started learning to eat beets a couple years ago, but its unpleasant earthy taste always throws me off. Is there any suggestion to reduce the taste? After steaming, can you store in the freezer?
Try serving them with some type of acid - like vinegar or lemon! that can help to take the edge off of the earthy flavor.
I love beets .. but the only way I can do that is to have them pickled 😊 I have tried them as is but it’s to earthy for me lol
I love pickled beets as well! I may need to try that next.
Informative video - thanks. Just bought beets for a recipe and had no idea how to cook them.
And what the heck, I'll say it, you're a very beautiful woman
I steam my beets, then peel them when cooked.
Same! It’s the easiest way to do the job. 😊
Omg lady, you are gorgeous
Why not boil the beets?
Thankyou for coming in my email
Thanks for watching!
@CleanandDeliciousDani your welcome I like beets
I prefer them raw.
lol @ 30min for those beets. Ain’t no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks that those beets cook in 30min. 1hr is more like it.
Thanks for wasting our time,, so additional info in there; but all helpful. Some make this a half hour vid, haha/
Look at your hands!!?? Should wear gloves. That red does not come off easily. I know, I've worked with beets before. Wear gloves. Simple
I worked quickly over the sink and the color rinsed right off. As I mentioned in the video, gloves are always an option (just no my preference).
You can't beet this cooking method.
Those is great way go prepare beets but honestly, here you can buy sous vide pre cooked beets that are delicious and spare yourself all the time and trouble, since the preparation process is a mess.
Those are just beets, no vinegar, citric acid, nothing that would change the taste, and they are perfectly cooked. You can even buy pre sliced or pre cubed ones for even less effort.
Very true - and when time is not on my side, I do this as well!
