I mean, that's one way to do it! It also helps to use a squeegee or old credit card to lay the filler flat and wrap the sand paper around a flat peice of wood so you dont sand low spots into it. Im sure your not wanting a perfect product but its awesome your willing to learn. Keep it up!
M. Skoops Thanks for the tips dude! i actually couldn't find a card of any sort when i was doing this haha, the finger was the only thing i had lol!:( Thanks for the comment dude!
You should of made divots first using a ball hammer, that way the hole has a small canal (U-shape) for the bondo to stick, rather than a flat surface. If you bondo right over a flat hole you have a higher chance of the bondo popping through or breaking. Just a thought
I did this when I was 18 and filled a hole for a antenna for a friend. Someone pressed on it and it cracked and broke off. Bond also absorbs water so it needs paint. Need to weld it because different stuff expands at different temperatures and it will crack.
Appreciated the video, I had a 97 Buick that some genius used a screw in dent remover he left multiple holes on it's rear left panel. But anyhow thanks for the refresher course good job on your Nissan
You clearly have no idea at all what you are doing, you dont mix filler in a lid where old dry filler is already lol. you dont mix filler with your fingers either, the holes cant just be filled without metal welded under the filler as it will crack when the lid is closed over time due to the pressure of air. using paper or wire under the filler is not correct, you are showing people some backyard nasty ways & using filler where it should be used thin for the top before priming not as the strength, this is a joke ha?
Thanks for the comment i was allready like hmmm i don't think this is the best way to do it... (want to start a project with a datsun 240z and i want to do it as good as possible so not doing it like this haha
never pee during a Tornado..When peeing, always hold it with you thumb and index finger,(African Americans must use two hands left hand for the tip, right hand to spool it all out). Always qtip the urethra clean after..
Thanks for the video man, just what I needed. And forget the naysayers, YOU SOLVED THE PROBLEM, thatñs what matters, who cares if it takes 2 years for it to crack. hahahaha it´s worth it. just do it again. If you go to the body shop they will even tell you that you need to repaint the entire hood or something like that and that it will take 2+ days and a lot of cash!!! keep up.
Very helpful video, Im getting ready to fill the holes on my Cadillac SLS which came with a soft top. Im going Bondo fiberglass which is supposed to be much better than regular bondo.
Put a metal plate under the hole and weld it then fill it with bondo, the out side will look normal but the inside you can just cover it up with something like upholstery
And never sand using your finger us a hard sanding block and do even strokes sand in x's for example ten strokes in and out then turn block side ways and sand ten more time side to side
Never us bondo to fill hole metal and weld it up and you never want to stir bondo you want to press hard ob a flat surface anf pulling to be sure you never get air bubbles in it so when it dries there's no pinholes
should consider using a block to sand flush, and its not leveled if u paint it like this it will show thru...sand untill u cant feel it with fingers and use filler primer...wet sand then paint..just a lil tip
Bro I respect your desire to fix your car,but those holes will be back in less than a year or sooner.Vibrations, shrinkage I could go on.To do it right you have to weld those holes. You can use fiberglass and it'll last longer but they'll be back.Just pull the trunk off(I think four bolts and take the trunk to a wrought iron guy and have him spot those holes and grind em out for you.You could go to a body shop but they might bend you over. It'll cost you a couple bucks and your holes will last longer than the paint job
Honestly I’ve did this to patch my 240sx hatch holes but this way sucks really is just a fast way to get rid of the holes but don’t expect to be a for sure fix also don’t use paper to plug the holes use tape it’s not to much better but it’s easier for the Bondo to stay in one spot and not fall threw into your hatch this way lasted my 3 months till I accidentally put my finger threw one of the holes and cracked and put the hardin bonds threw the hatch but good luck
Im turning 15 and I'm getting into cars. I would like to get a car and restore it or just fix it so that when i turn 16 and get my permit I can drive my car. Any suggestions on what car I should get?
Silver Surfing I really like old muscle cars like for example a 1970 chevelle, but I am not sure if restoring an old car is something that I would be able to do with no experience working with cars. Should I start with something more modern or is it possible to just go ahead and restore an older car.
Silver Surfing chevelles can get pretty expensive, i don't know too much about muscle cars though. There are tons of tutorials and videos on how to do stuff car related, so i'm sure you could figure it out, but i'd start with something that doesn't require a TON of work that way if it does end up being overwhelming you aren't screwed lol.
Silver Surfing I got my first car when I turned 15 since I really wanted a project car and my parents gave in... :) But yeah im 16 right know and im still working on it ( I ended up rebuilding my engine since the cylinder head and block was cracked, aswell as putting a swapping and putting a mannual in it). There was alot of up and downs since I was just a broke teenager but it non to less fun and a great learning experience. Cheers and I hope you find something cool!
When you are sanding on a car in general use a flat block of some sort to keep the sandpaper flat, sanding with your finger you create ridges in the paint and won't get as near as nice finish. Good video otherwise!
do not follow this guys tips!! if it was me, i would use Pro15 on the rear with fibreglass sheets. Pro15 dries super hard and strong with the fibreglass. then, you would correctly mix body filler with hardner and apply. you would then sand down through the grades starting at 150grit until 400grit. then apply a primer followed by colour coats and top clear coat.
Ballpeen the hole to make it concave. Use a piece of masking tape on the underside to keep the bondo from falling through.
I mean, that's one way to do it! It also helps to use a squeegee or old credit card to lay the filler flat and wrap the sand paper around a flat peice of wood so you dont sand low spots into it. Im sure your not wanting a perfect product but its awesome your willing to learn. Keep it up!

Damn I have never thought about this I appreciate it and still watching 2024

Lance Wheeler thanks for watching man! I appreciate the comment :0
I was just about to do that to my dent🤣

No need for me to comment you flled all the holes.
never pee during a Tornado..When peeing, always hold it with you thumb and index finger,(African Americans must use two hands left hand for the tip, right hand to spool it all out). Always qtip the urethra clean after..
Video tutorial please
Thanks Danny McBride, this was very helpful.
I a beginner, too but the comments you stimulated are very educational.
Helpful and entertaining vid bro, thank u
thanks for the comment!

You can use a foam fun and shoot some foam in the holes, then after it has expanded dig a little out, then fill with Bondo
Thanks for video! I was wondering how to cover up my spoiler holes lol ^_^
Nice Job Bro!
Very Good 😊
On my 83 Volvo 242 project, I used something like a gallon of Bondo on one of the panels LOL. Last time I do that.....
it sucks!
Great job bro
Thanks for the visit
i fucking love bondo
motoguy13 first time i ever used it lmao, it stinks.

This will help me with my spoiler holes lol thanks man
No problem 👍

If you had a welder why wouldn’t you just weld them?

What do you do with the paper that's underneath?
It does not look level after you sanded it you can still see the Bulge from the initial placement of the Bondo
Should have grazed the holes shut your way is not permanent fix 🤔✌🏻

TheCityRider Ok thanks for the info!
Silver Surfing no problem man! anytime:)

GREAT VIDEO!

retrotellephone Thanks for the tip! wasn't aware of that but it makes since!
what is the best bondo Brand I can quickly pick up at Auto zone, pepboyz, etc.?
Dont use paper use spray foam insulation it wont retain moisture and u can form it then u can bondo
good video, simple easy relaxing 😂

a spreder and DA sander would have made it a lot less time consuming. I had to do the same thing on my 3000gt
Video on what not to do.
Yoy Need more body work experience lol
Matt F i totally agree with you lol!
TheCityRider yeah you shouldve welded the holes and skimmed some filler over.
Because in time the bondo will crack the paint and there will be a hole in ur deck lid
Cus the bondo for it to be secure it needs something under it
Matt F there was duct tape under neath it. i most likely won't have the car forever so oh well :P
Braze. or weld
Bondo bondo don't you want to bondo bondo.😁
Guy has no idea what hes doing.. That's gonna fall apart in no time. Use fiberglass if you cant weld the holes. At least thatll hold up.
The music playing was annoying and useless, kinda made it difficult to hear you but thanks for sharing❤
Noted!
sad... just sad . for 99 bucks you can just get a shitty hardbor freight welder and have been done with it.
you put way too much on there. imo
This should never had been posted. So sloppy and you need the hardner not stir it with your finger.lol..
back when videos where made lol
that sucks, absolutely nonsense
This is the worst example of anything I've ever seen
this gone help me alot thanks man
