I have both (black dial SMP300 on rubber and sub 124060) and I could never choose one over the other. They're just such completely different watches. Sometimes I crave the SMP and sometimes I crave the sub. The one extremely important thing that you left out at around 10:22, especially how you keep bringing up "for everyday wear, for everyday wear", is the massive target that Rolex paints on your back when using it as an everyday watch in an everyday popular city like London, Los Angeles, New York City, Bellevue, etc. I think that is a HUGE con that works against the sub for everyday wear. I work in downtown in a large city and there's just no way that I could wear a sub everyday in the city due to how many times ill get scoped out and eventually robbed. This is something that you need to take into consideration when choosing a Rolex as "an everyday wear". And if youre purpose for the watch is for everyday wear, but you cant wear it everyday, then that's the biggest con of all. So if its your one watch that you want to splurge $10-14k but your office is in a major city, do you really want to be worrying about that? Im very blessed and fortunate to have various pieces to choose from but for a single watch owner that wants to wear something nice to the office everyday, its something that needs to be considered. Same rings true for travel. Unfortunately, the subbies legendary iconic status works for it and against it (pretty massively). This is something I never have to worry or think about with my SMP on rubber when traveling or going into the office. The "freedom" of wearing the SMP is a huge pro that i feel you missed (especially considering you keep harping on everyday wear). Otherwise, great comparison video 👍.

I agree with you 100 percent if we're comparing steel bracelets vs steel bracelets. The sub has the best steel bracelet ever created imho. My SMP300 on rubber though.. Let me tell ya! Melts right onto my wrist and I forget I even have it on. It's single handedly the most comfortable watch I've ever owned or worn (have worn several pre-c and c-subs with the old maxi case and with the newer thinner lugs). While I currently do not own a sub, I have worn it several times and I know exactly what you mean. The sub is by far the most comfortable steel watch I've ever put on my wrist. Nothing has ever beat it. But on rubber, the SMP300 is the most comfortable watch I've ever experienced. This is with the slimmer Omega non-deployant rubber strap option. The fit is perfection for my wrist as well. You're so lucky to have both. Enjoy them in good health!

@@steelsteez6118 You’re obviously new to Rolex then otherwise you’d know that prior to the introduction of the ceramic models, the bracelet on the Submariner was shit. The clasp was a crappy piece of stamped tin which would easily come apart if you were to do something a simple as close your car door too aggressively. Omega bracelets were always better but have let themselves down in the last five years by the non tapering and belt buckle clasp.

    • @Bornia1982

@@IrishScribbler yes, those tuna can clasps were inferior to what Omega was doing with the machined clasps. I have a Sub from that era and a newer Rolex, and even now I don’t love the clasps. Omega’s push button design is better. I mean the entire fit of the 300m is not right. And this is just my opinion of course. The watch should be slimmer all around, case and bracelet. I do not mind non tapering, but the links are bulky and the case a bit too thick. Cheers!

@@steelsteez6118 yes, the rubber strap really saves this watch, it is fantastic. I just really feel like the proportions of the watch got hurt with the thicker case. The 2531.80 had a super thin ETA movement that was a tank. I’m sure the co-axial is a wonder of engineering, but the added thickness is too high a price in my opinion. I say this because I just decided to sell mine, but totally get the love for this model from so many people. It’s a classic. Cheers!

@@IrishScribbler "You're obviously new to Rolex..." And you're obviously lacking cognitive skills. Ive been into watches for over 20 years and could likely school you on reference numbers alone. Yes, we obviously all know the pre ceramic models with the crappy oyster bracelets with the stamped clasps and with link sag. Thanks Confucius. A lot of people consider those crappy jangly bracelets to be extremely comfortable due to their softer link flex. I was sorta, you know, making the obvious point that I've tried several models from both the pre ceramic and the current ceramic era sorta like the sub featured in this video? Hence why I said old maxi case (old pre ceramic era with thicker lugs) and newer thinner lug era (ceramic era). 2+2 =4? Again, sorry if youre experiencing deteriorating axon terminals 😂. Obviously the newer oyster bracelets on newer models like the 124060 and the 126610LV have the newer superior bracelets. (Did I say obviously?) Lol. I almost agree with you. I do agree that when it comes to steel bracelets nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to the oyster bracelet. Not only is it the best steel bracelet ever made, imho, but it's also the most comfortable steel bracelet you'll find on any watch. With that said, the SMP's OEM rubber strap destroys the oyster bracelet when it comes to comfort and how it feels on the wrist. It's such a massive game changer (the omega steel bracelet sucks bad). It's such a natural feeling, so light, so comfy. The SMP's rubber strap allows your wrist to flex more naturally too since it's not confined by steel edges. It's just so so so comfy that nothing compares. It's also almost unfair to call it rubber because it feels so premium. SMP300 on rubber for those long weekend family trips and then submariner for those single day trips and all ur bases are covered ☺️

there is a point I don't understand. The accuracy of Omega is 0-5, which means you can expect just your watch might go faster in a long run. I own a seamaster, and sometimes, it even doesn't have any deviation. on the other hand, the accuracy of Rolex is -2 to+2. it means that your watch is less predictable and might go slow or fast!!!!! so, from this aspect, it is clear that Omega is more reliable and accurate. I wonder why no one pays attention to this important fact and just says Rolex is more accurate!!!!!!

12 000 € tavallisesta Rolex Submarinerista on kyllä kiskontaa. Teknisesti Omega on aina ottanut Rolexia mutkikkaamman reitin kellojen teossa.

I've owned both and ultimately sold the Seamaster. As stated by others, the Seamaster is amazing on paper and in pics/vids! It's clearly the no-brainer better deal considering what you get for the cost. However, when actually wearing them both in every day life, the Seamaster begins to fall behind IMO. I wanted to love the Seamaster so bad but that bezel design real does make it so hard to actually use (not a huge deal, I get it, but still kinda silly to not be able to reasonably use the feature). Also, it's minuscule but the Seamaster is just a bit..bulkier, and over time, it's noticeable. Finally, and ultimately the straw that broke this camel's back, was the bracelet. Like many others, one of the pusher buttons ended up jamming; very annoying, but that's not the worst of it. The bracelet is just so uncomfortably larger with the non-tapper and truly too "sharp" on its edges. It just doesn't wear comfortably IMO. In contrast, I'll throw on my Sub and literally forget it's on my wrist. Many times, while out and about, I've thought I had it swiped or something because I wouldn't feel it and quickly look at my wrist to see that it's there, just so unnoticed. I truly hope to get another Seamaster one day, I just feel Omega needs to make a few more refinements and then it'll really be on par w/ the Sub.
P.S. Of all the watches I've ever owned, the Sub truly is the GOAT. Goes with everything, looks amazing 24/7, feels fantastic, there's just no beating it.
