Personal experience . I was in the market for a high grade watch long time ago , and the choice back then was a Rolex or a Omega . More specific a Omega PO and the Rolex you showed . In those days (2007) the Rolex was easy available and it was just a preference of choice , since the price was not that far apart either. I chose the PO ( if i remember correct 2209.50.00) Omega , and i did get over the years many many comments on how good it looked . This y i was on the market again , for several reasons , and i still like the Rolex , but those prices exploded , to a value which i cannot understand . I still got my daily Omega PO , and it has doubled in value but the Rolex has got at least 3 times value . Anyway , i went in the shop for a Moonwatch , and came home with the black 300M ( like you got in this vid) but with the steel strap . The Omega's are great watches and the Rolex's are also , but the value of Rolex is imho overstretched . Sure they got a good watch , everything in it . But the value vs a Omega , naah i don't see it . Everybody got their choice , i'd love to own a Rolex Batman 1 day , but not in current day values .
I couldn't agree more, 8 also gave an Omega PO 2007 vintage, Casino Royale version, love the watch ( Bond Fan) but admit I never considered a Rolex back then. I have a 2006 300m too. The Subs and Explorer are the two Rolex I like but I will never own them, I don't want to afford them or have the anxiety of it on my wrist OR, the servicing costs. They look good, but the Omegas are cooler! 😜

I agree, as well! I could’ve bought Rolex back in the day but never considered them because they never appealed to me! However, Omega has appealed to me! I just prefer Omega! I live all their watches!

Purely as a tool, I agree, but aesthetically you can certainly beat the Omega's ugly and unless HEV, the poor and ugly bracelet, and the AR coating on the outside of the crystal.

@@Thommyw12345 AR coatings outside the crystal can scratch. So you will have to send it back to your AD to get it fixed.
If it can scratch easily, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a sapphire crystal.

However now that I have the 300m I'm constantly blown away at how little reflection the crystal gives off.
Most times its like there is no glass there.

I'm wearing the 2021 no date sub but I am equally in love with the Seamaster. You won't regret choosing one over the other but I suspect many will eventually spring for both (I know I will)
i know i did, however once you've worn a Rolex bracelet... unfortunately the Seamaster steel bracelet just doesn't cut it. Fortunately putting the Omega rubber strap on it instead is an easy (and much better looking) fix.

For me the Omega will win all the way. I just haven’t got the time, the money and the available life span to buy the Rolex, plus I cannot stand that bubble over the date. Omega wins hands down!
There is a non-date Submariner, which I prefer as I hate the cyclops lens over the date window too.
I don't hate the cyclops lens as a magnifier of the date, but it's bound to really annoy me whenever the watch hands come under it 😂
I own both Rolex Seadweller and the Omega blue ceramic, love both 💙
For a long time not considering the price, the Rolex sub was a much better watch (style, movement, build). However with the current Omega diver models they have overtaken the Rolex
- open caseback with some decoration
- better movement (newer, co axial, more certs)
- better lume
If it wasn’t for investment most would want a Omega over the Rolex
I don't agree with your last sentence. I have both watches (blue Omega) and they both are on my wrist on very different occasions. They take up very different space in my collection.
I have both. Its a toss up. I like the weight of the Omega slightly better. But on any given day, either one I enjoy more. Great review BTW. Nice video!!!

I have a Sub and a Seamaster Planet Ocean. Both are amazing. The beauty of the Rolex is that it can be worn on any occasion, from super formal to super casual. The Seamaster is more on the casual side. The sub is 3x the price of the Seamaster. It doesn't really make sense, but it is what it is. Recently I bought a Longines Hydroconquest, which is 3x cheaper than the Seamaster, and hence 9x cheaper than the Sub. And it's wonderful too. So you have a good choice for excellent diving watches at very different price points (well, you can't currently get a new Sub, but that's a different story).
100% Seamaster for me - the Sub might as well be made of hens teeth for how likely it is to actually see one you can buy. It might as well be fictitious for how unobtainable it is - take into account the 3x the cost between the watches it’s a no brainier.
I can (and have) bought the SMP 300m in this vid because I could get hold of one. Rolex is now just the domain of those who are prepared to pay well over retail, and flippers that sell them, sadly.
Most people always settle for second best.
It depends on what you consider ‘second best’ I suppose.
It’s probably best to keep some perspective, too. We’re talking about £4K+ watches…a mostly unnecessary piece of jewellery!
It’s conspicuous consumption for the most part for some.
I own a blue dial seamaster 300m and wearing it now on a brown leather strap that i chabhed out from a blue nato this morning.
If I had to choose as iconic as the rolex is I'd pick the seamaster mainly because of the dial in design its more appealing to me i also prefer the bezelstyle.
I prefer the bracelet on the rolex compared to the seamaster however I do prefer nato and rubber straps over bracelet.
I say all this but if it was the hulk rolex all this goes out the window and I'm choosing that.
It's Rolex for me...however with that said:
1)I had to get my Submariner serviced three times in order for it to run as expected. But, never had any issues with my 300m or my 2 planet oceans.
2)I traded my 300m because I fell out of love with its impractical bezel design. It's not the grippiest.
3)I got bored with my planet oceans, although I loved the coin-edge bezels.
4)I also love the iconic cyclops and its 2.5 magnification practicality.
The rolex oyster bracelet is the best looking in the business in my opinion.
For me- I’d consider the omega if they addresses the following
1) 40mm
2) go back to the flat dial - remove waves
3) lose the pointless helium escape nipple
4) offer a no date version
This to me would be a true competitor to the sub in my mind & would easily win a sub fan like myself over

Hey Johny, I'm a big fan of both myself and while all your points would certainly make the SMP cleaner and more symmetrical, it would also make the seamaster faaaaar too similar to the sub imho. Flat dial, no HEV nipple, 40mm, no date.... Sounds like a 124060 to me 😂 (which I absolutely love btw). I just think they would be too redundant at that point. All the cool little motifs on the current SMP like the HEV, the ceramic ZR02 wave dial, 42mm,etc are all the cool differentiating features that makes me love and want to own both since they are different enough.
Why is the sub £16000? Subs are around $9000 usd if I’m not mistaken that should mean the sub is around £7-8000 when considering currency difference. Unless I got my currency’s mixed up. But then again the omega is priced right I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me can answer this.
I just bought a planet ocean black + 3/4 orange bezel with the black/orange rubber strap, love it. I might want a rolex later, but not as a daily watch, which is why i love my omega so much .
The Omega is a better watch. Hands down

My favourite Breguet right now would be the MARINE HORA MUNDI, the dial is just magnificent, and I like the fact taht you can get it in bracelet, rubber or leather for different seasons around the year.

As for the two Titans, Omega has always been the better watch, Rolex has always been the better brand in terms of recognition (In other words More marketing).

I have the Omega as my daily and tried on the Sub at AD in the weekend.
I still want the Rolex too, it fits really well, even in the new 41mm version. I'll be selling my BB58 when it's my turn.....
1. Sub is a superior watch (BUT it’s double the price! So idk if it’s a fair comparison)
2. Sub is really hard to get at retail and probably not worth the cost at the gray market price.
3. Omega is better value for money (terrific watch at a lower price) especially if you plan on keeping your watch.
4. If you really want a Rolex Omega will NOT scratch that itch no matter how it’s dressed up.
I own the world is not enough 300 seamaster and I absolutely love it , rolex has a chav image these days , I’m getting the seamaster acqua terra next like Jamie dornan wore on the boat in 50 shades
I think the Rolex is the better watch. But as a watch there is no way it is worthed 4x the Omega. If it was given to me I’d pick the Sub any time. If I was to buy one, no doubt I’d go for the Omega and be thrilled about it.
I watch a lot of comparison between Rolex and omega. But none of those mention when date change at midnight, if any one can do that comparison, you will see the beauty of Rolex mechanical work.

I love the Omega for how authentic and unique it is. The Rolex is probably going to last longer aesthetically but this Omega is going 30 years strong now and Omega’s are starting to become collectors in the vintage world now. I think these Seamaster’s will become vintage collectors as well. I have a Seamaster Diver and love it, but I’m a bracelet guy and they really should either taper it or change the design. Just on the bracelet. I think it’s coming too, they have a changed the bracelet on a lot of their popular watches lately and I think this SMP diver is next.. I wouldn’t change anything else besides maybe case size
If I’m shopping, I’m taking the Omega without a doubt. If someone else is buying, I’ll take the Rolex, sell it, and get two Omegas 🙌🏽
It doesnt really matter in the end. You cant buy a Rolex without waiting 2 years and Omega shelves are full. Just get the Omega and forgot the Rolex.

Just a little comment on the production of the video. The recording of the sound… at times, it is loud and sharp echo sound and then at times it sounds like a studio sound. Preferable to hear studio sound throughout.

If I wanted a black dial dive watch, I'll choose the submariner- Unfortunately I want a green dial dive watch, and Rolex green is heinous. Fortunately, omegas new seamaster diver 300m release fits the bill perfectly.
From a watch perspective omega have it, from a resale value however, Rolex maintain's it's resale value which often makes it more desirable.
If Omega never discounted, in time... it would close the gap.
I own both and I love them, I would say Omega is more sporty with modern styling while a sub is more refined and can be a one watch for all occasions

For me, I like the Omega design better. I don't like the cyclops and the lack of AR coating is sometimes bothersome since I do travel a lot. Other than that, both are good middle tier luxury watches that are iconic. Can't go wrong with these.
Nothing wrong with the cyclops when you get a certain age you cannot see things from a close distance
Functional, but I don't like it. I like big date rather than cyclops or at least don't put it on top of crystal since it just collects dust around it, rather just put it underneath the crystal like Panerai do. Just a personal preference.
The text on the omega is less and it’s subtle unlike Rolex bold and more text. Just that along say OMEGA
I have both, and I also have the Seamaster on the rubber strap. Rolex for elegance. Omega for day-to-day. Can't go wrong.
The Rolex is not elegant, is just a sport watch. You can’t wear it with a suit.
The one thing that puts me off massively with the Rolex is that Mercedes star on the hour hand. To me It just shouts fake from every angle. And for that I go with the Omega.
IMO Rolex wins in almost every aspect of this comparison but one - real life wearability. I feel that the brand has now become so synonymous with wealth that wearing a sub daily is likely to put a big target on my back. At least with an Omega you have the freedom to enjoy it on the wrist anywhere, anytime…
I have the sub. I love it. Classic looks, but I think the Omega looks great with the red.
I went for the Sub for the understated look it has. As an investment it is a good buy. I wear it primarily for work. In meetings I occasionally get a nod and it is instantly recognisable. Both watches look great in a business suit or jeans. Some top brands are either or sometimes. It’s very much personal taste at this great level. But Omega kills it for the price which is surprisingly good value for what you get.
Unfortunately the scarcity of the Sub has made the price ridiculous. Perhaps that’s the idea Rolex?
The thing I love the Sub for is the speedy adjustable bracelet which gives a perfect fit and easily changed in hot weather when your wrists can swell slightly. Great review. New sub.

Everyone judges dove watches against the Rolex as it's history and classic looks set a benchmark. However, getting a new one is a different matter with all the politics . Love my great White Seamaster and almost all Rolex are too small for my tree trunk 8 inch wrists!
Yo. I got thick wrists too....what brands or watches do you stick with?! Shit is hard to find proper fitting watches lol. IWC? Panerie? (Can forget about big Rolex.,,,that will cost you a life's savings lol)

If you like a big watch and price is no object than the Omega Ultra Deep is the watch. 6000m WR officially and unofficially 7500m WR. That is a serious piece of kit. Probably the best dive watch on the market. She's a big unit so suits a big lad.
I like the Omega. You can tell the difference between the omega seamaster and planet ocean. The other brand 4 of their time pieces look the same.
Soon I should get my titanium Seamaster. It is a cool and rather unique watch. I could not be bothered chasing a Rolex although I would live to have their titanium yacht master… if it is edited and released for Joe public. I lived and worked in Aberdeen for many years hence I have learned, developed an appreciation for the Scottish accent with which I now feel very much connected. Ne bad lun !

Great video Harrison , whilst the Rolex Submariner is undoubtedly an outstanding watch, I personally feel this omega is definitely the sub killer, I’ve a Rolex sea dweller 4000 which is 31 years old and it’s still outstanding to this day, but the omega is a step for me personally above Rolex. I’ve the white version on a red rubber Zealande strap and it’s forever getting compliments

After purchasing my omega smp , i started to think why i need to have submariner then sold… This smp pushes you to sell submariner. Amazing watch it is. Gmt rolex , sky dweller and smp enough for me. Smp is sub killer
I own both these watches. The Sub does not measure 13.5mm thick, its around 12.5mm. You must have measured it over the cyclops!
The Omega is the better watch hands down.
Yes though the decades watches had closed case backs, but now they don’t, you get to see what the movements looks like and what you are paying for, even if the movement is machine finish. Open the Rolex and you won’t see a finish moment like the Omega, besides what can be said of a brand that has never made anything, not one thing. Buying up your all your suppliers doesn’t make you a watch maker after decades of having someone else make and manufacture your products. One here is a true maker and started out as such, the other started out as just a seller of watches with parts pieced together and still does it to this day. One makes watches to sell, the other has someone else makes their watches to sell to just enough not to have enough to sell. One innovates, the other takes what has already been done by others and markets it as it own.
As for the worn out and tired thing about it’s worth, it’s a moot point if you don’t sell your watches.
What features in the Seamaster 300M were invented by Omega? Coaxial escapement? That was purchased from George Daniels.
I had both, sold the sub. Kept the omega. Easy choice.

I'm a Rolex / Tudor guy, Omega is too busy from the dial and too many dots, also that helium escape valve is useless
I'm sure the Rolex wins but you can't buy one. Whereas if I go to the Omega boutique there are 30 variations in stock, priced right and available to walk away with. I have Rolex but my next will probably be an Omega.
Rolex holds/gains value better , it had a better bracelet, better materials, better movement. The only reason I don’t like about it is that’s it’s so popular and so many ppl have one.
The steel Rolex might hold value but I can’t see it gaining much more. They are already pushing the limit of what people are going to tolerate paying for a steel watch.

Compare a Rubberbee (forgive the spelling) or an Everest strap to the Omega stock strap….Omega strap is inferior and needs work. Consulted to the 116610 Sub Date, the Seamaster 300m Diver wins. However, the new 126610 Sub Date is now the king of the hill. I speak from experience and have both and regularly wear the hell out of both of them.
Omega wins. You can’t go into a Rolex AD and buy one of the shelf. I don’t want to have a buying history with them. It’s just rubbish. It will effect Rolex as a brand in the long run. Customers move onto better affordable watches.

The best Omega ever made is the Speedmaster, the best Rolex ever made is the Submariner. That's all you will ever need.
Those are my only 2 watches after extensive research , I remember back in the early 90s When I was around 20 yrs old , I wanted and dreamed about the Omega Seamaster 300 blue face Chrono , think it’s the James Bond . Or inspired from it . I’m thinking about getting the blue face non Chrono Seamaster 300 . Any suggestions?
for Rolex I would go Daytona number one, yachtmaster number two and sub number three. Yes, the yachtmaster over the sub. It is a more refined submariner.
For omega I think I would actually go for the seamaster over the speedmaster. Tough choice.
Combining both brands it would be Daytona, yachtmaster, very close third would be seamaster, sub and last but certainly not least the speedmaster.

The Sub any day of the week.
I'm wearing the black dial Omega SMP on bracelet. The dial on the Omega is what stands out to me as a clear advantage. When the SMP is in the sun the dial goes from black to an almost white color to a silver mirror depending on how the light hits. Along with the fact you can buy one at or below msrp makes it no contest and I believe the movement in the Omega has a slight edge as well.
Think I'll have { Omega & Zenith } for the Price of The ROLEX "...
Personal Preference goes a Long Way
I own the 41mm Sub TT LN, wonderful watch it’s actually 12.4mm thick and case measures at 40.5mm. Love how far Seamasters have come it’s such an amazing fun watch! Omega should update the bracelet and put the 3 link speedy bracelet as well as fix the bezel imo. The watch is superb on rubber and for the price it’s untouchable! Really fun review! Truly enjoyed it and great work in your channel mate!

I think, it really needs a folding clasp for the rubber strap.
I got the black omega sm300 for my birthday and love it ,although it’s a close call with the submariner the wave dial on the omega wins it for me and when you take the price into account it’s a no contest Omega all day long 👍

I bought a Seamaster 300M in late 2020. I had wanted it for 25 years. I was offered a Sub from an AD last year after the guy who ordered it decided not to get it. I had never requested it nor showed interest in it so I politely declined. Also, let's not forget. The Omega is half the price of Rolex at MSRP and almost 1/4th the price of a Rolex at pre-owned prices.

@@danilom3166 I got the blue, and now wear it on Omega's rubber strap and deployant clasp they made available for the 300M from boutiques about 18 months ago. I wish they sold it on that one as opposed to the tradional rubber strap you can buy it on.

I own a Seamaster white dial and did own a Rolex 124060 from 2022...sold the Sub because I didn't see the appeal of owning both of them. The Oyster bracelet is wonderful, but the Seamaster is equally as comfortable on the bracelet. As someone who's owned both of them, just buy a Seamaster on the bracelet and save the difference you'd have to spend for a Sub (4.5k above the Seamaster for the "No Date" at retail in addition to the waiting list).
both excellent choice but for me OMEGA more classic more sporty more cheaper not to say i cant afford a rolex but OMEGA is made more under pressure i asked 3 master-watch repair guys and they say rolex good but very fragile delicate and expensive to clean they said OMEGA last longer and is more accurate and in technology is far ahead of rolex. so now i have all gold seamaster300m from last year and a black with gold planet ocean from 2022 i use the both everyday and samsung watch wen i workout. but OMEGA is an eternal brand that doesent need no crowns.
