I own both and can honestly say the 300m Seamaster seems to be the better of the two. I am more attached to my Subbie as I’ve have owned it a long time. Agree! I actually sold my Omega Planet Ocean because I just could not justify wearing a $6,600 watch to put gas in my car or go to the grocery store, or hike on a mountain. Instead, I bought a slightly used Sinn 104 for a little over $1000, and wear that for those tasks. I'm a big Omega fan, but also like Rolex. Both are terrific watches, other than price, I think it comes down to personal preference as you can't go wrong with either. As for this video...absolutely brilliant Andrei. Well done my friend 👏 👍 🙌
Well, the Rolex is two Times more expensive for the same shit and a bit less of specs, and you can’t get one new, you need to get a 15 grant pre owned one. But it is really a 5 grant watch. I prefer by far the omega. For 10-15 grants, I’d rather pick a GO SeaQ, a Bp 50phatom or a GS diver (the one with the black dial that looks like a weavy ocean at night).
@@carlito1777 Not even close to the same shut. The sub blows it away in iconic staus, is much more of a daily wear for all occasions, it won't look obsolete because a new iterations comes out every couple of years and sure as shit you're not going to take a 30% hit when you try and get rid of it.
Booo! :) I have the SMP and also happen to like the Sub. Both great watches for sure. The Sub is an icon that even back 60 years can still be recognised from the original - the SMP is somewhat newer and doesn’t have that iconic look (yet). I am very happy with my Omega, and of the two it’s be the only one that I could walk into a shop, try and buy within minutes…. not months/years (if you have the right ‘relationship’ with an AD!). Surely accessibility should be a factor ‘can a normal person, with the available credit, buy one?’ Great vid, thanks!

I have the 116610LN Sub and also the white Seamaster and it's very difficult to choose between the two. If you take away the branding and cost / resale of the watches for me the Seamaster wins but only just.
@@steelsteez6118 Sorry, I've only just seen your reply, six months later. Yes I do think the Sub is a bit classic / boring and the Seamaster is a more modern / exciting watch. Even after six months of my original post I'm wearing the Seamaster today and my Sub spends most of it's time in the box.
@rafaeloliva6425 most omega yes. But the one I'm talking about was so light when I tried it on. Just perfect I've moved on anyway. Saving for a Longines Spirit 37mm black dial
Great video. Personally my favourite iteration of this generation of Seamaster is the slightly larger 43.5mm all-ceramic black Seamaster - incredible wrist presence, flies under the radar and feels more premium than the SS models. I have a 114060 and love it, but it is an incredibly boring watch.

A really excellent production - funny, well filmed and edited - nice one! But, of course you can't win, you're gonna get it in the neck from one half of the mild and unbiased watch community whatever way! My perspective is that they are very different watches, doing different things. The Omega is overtly sporty and its design has got louder with each iteration. The Rolex was the ultimate GADA, but has grown bolder, less nuanced. For me, the Omega is too flash and brash, but the Rolex is now a tad obvious, a bit of a meat-head, less charming in its middle age! But that's all subjective - from an objective, technical view, the Rolex is mostly better - a tougher movement, better case and bezel and more legible dial (let alone the bracelet). Although Omega's dial accuracy (marker placement, lame evenness) is at least equal and in my experience has better QC. Then, the Rolex its virtually twice the price and simply not twice as good. Omega could easily ace it with a re-imagining of the 165024!
@@rafaeloliva6425 Hi Rafael, I guess the obvious answer is if the watch is that good, why would I sell it? This comment is over a year old. The fatigue I guess came from the hype, the alleged AD games, Rolex corporate deciding to drop mom and pop ADs (stores that help build their company). But, putting all that aside, I've come to realize I'm just not a Rolex guy. They are fantastic watches, but they are just not for me. I've had two and sold them both. Im too old to buy a watch I don't care for because it has good resale value. I hope you wear yours in good health.
@scottlalonde2878 Thanks for your kind wishes, I enjoy discussing watches with others aficionados, and you made good valid points.Enjoy your timepieces in good health as well.
The strong anti-magnetic properties of the watch are a testament to its quality. I have owned my Omega watch for five years now, and it has been working perfectly.
I like the Seamaster. I do. I want to like it more! But the Sub is just smarter & classier imho. It’s more grown-up somehow. Side by side the Rolex looks like the man versus the boy….
I have both.... OMEGA because over the last three years they have shown they value customers and don't expect customers to jump through hoops to "get" one of their watches at MSRP..... ROLEX is dead to me
My refusal to play the Rolex game is the reason I bought Omega and even with Omega's elimination of discounts I offered to pay cash, so the jeweler would not incur the dealer's service charge, then when I asked they gave me a 10% discount.
The seamaster is a far more compelling offering when wearing it with the bracelet. In my opinion you shouldn't be comparing a sub and an omega one on a bracelet and the other on a rubber strap.
Right. I like the looks of the rubber but I tried it on both rubber and bracelet and the seamaster 300m bracelets gives it a stunning presence. I makes it look higher up. It would be nice to see the comparison also involving bracelets. I never tried the sub on my wrist.
I prefer this battle with Rubber straps. If it was with the bracelet, the Seamaster would have lost. Oyster is just the most comfortable bracelet ever. Tapering is the key. Seamaster is 21mm all the way.. too clunky…
@@zjhongolez The new Seamaster 300m bracelet can be adjusted so easily it is a breeze to wear. It looks great on that watch. There is a reason the Sub doesn't come in a rubber strap.
I have both. The Sub is more of a watch. The Omega has a lot of contraditory fonts. The dial doesn't match the bezel and vice-versa. I much prefer the classic dial language of the Sub. The Seamaster is also chunckier on wrist. I think many people buys the Seamaster because the Sub is hard to get. Other people start rationalizing and go for the Omega, some even develop some hate for Rolex, but deep deep from the bottom they aspire for the Sub. The Sub is unbeatable.
if prices and availability were the same then Rolex will lose its edge because Omega is obviously the better-engineered watch between the two. The only thing going on for Rolex is hype
Great review/comparison! The seamaster bezel action is definitely nowhere near as good as Rolex and not as good as Tudor as well. One thing that I found really surprising is just how plain the caseback of Sub looked at 10:50. Even Tudor Bb58 looks nicer than that, let alone the Seamaster, which is miles ahead!
i own both.. i have to say both are great, but both have been struggling with QC issues with leaving a tiny spec of something under the crystal or on the hands.
How come Rolex got higher rating than Omega for use of "precious metals" like white gold? Rhodium is a much more expensive precious metal than white gold. You can google and check out daily price of Rhodium, Gold, Platinum, etc. Today's price is $4,200 per ounce for Rhodium and $1,835 for gold. The 2 things I can agree that Rolex is better are the bracelet and bezel clicks. As for the rest, it's hands down to Omega including the movement.
I have a Rolex Datejust as a dressy watch and got the SMP300 as daily. I think the Omega diver is better than the Sub but as a brand, Rolex has more prestige. Happy to have both brands in my collection
Not really; this SM should be compared to the current gen Sub, just as the last gen Sub smoked the previous gen SM 300. The coaxial is impressive but the current gen Rolex movements are better imo: more accurate, longer PR by far (50 vs 70), longer service intervals (5 - 8 vs 10). And they’re both antimagnetic, though Rolex doesn’t give stats except to say it’s ‘impervious’. And the Sub does it all without sacrificing beat rate like the coaxial does. Both fine movements, but I prefer the Rolex 32XX movements. I own both.
@@gfxdaddy I'll quantify it for you. The accuracy and power reserve are somewhat linked and results often mentioned in comment sections are very elementary. The sub has PR of 70hrs but what is conflated is that the watch maintains accuracy for the full PR. In fact the watch will fall out of accuracy long before expiration of PR. What's the point of 70 hrs PR if you have to pull the crown to adjust the time before it stops Both Sub and SMP run from a single mainspring. As a power source this spring will deliver power with exponentially depleting torque. The majority of the explosive power is stored at the end of the springs compression and is thus the depleted very quickly when the spring unwinds. Making the tail end of the spring irrelevant. I have spoken with many watch makers asking how much of the PR is relevant in regards to accuracy. The general opinion I received is that most watches should maintain accuracy for 50% of the PR but it depends greatly on each movement beyond that. It is also relevant to consider accuracy in this case would likely be COSC standard not Superlative or METAS. There are things watch makers can do to extend the accuracy within the PR such as duel barrel PR and mainspring shape. Both Sub and SMP are similar enough here. If we look at accuracy yes Sub is -2 +2 and Omega is just off the mark at 0 +5. However as mentioned above, for what range of the PR can they maintain it. Rolex - well their notorious for secrecy, but they have said too much on their website. They advertise the superlative testing is for 24hrs in a device that replicates real life. In other words, the watch is tested in a watch winder by Rolex. Now I do anticpate that the main spring will still experience depletion, but we don't know by how much. I do at this point wish to speculate though. Replicating a real life day would indicate a period overnight of low movement or static. Let's give benifit of the doubt and go with static. I will speculate the static period is 7 hrs, this is both reasonable and easy mathematically. 7 hrs is 10%. Let's now give more benefit of the doubt and round up to 15% or 10.5hrs. it is highly unlikely the Superlative test subjects the mainspring to anything more than this. So the Sub accuracy is good, but tested over a very narrow PR range. In relation to at what point will it fall out of accuracy, well, I don't know, can it maintain Superlative or COSC beyond 50%. Well again, we don't know as it isn't tested, COSC probably but Superlative, there is a yawn gap to bridge here so I doubt it Omega- these are tested by METAS who are far more transparent. The accuracy rating is 1 second off Rolex. Metas attend the manufacturer and conduct their own test (Third party varied) they specifically test the watch to 70% main spring depletion. So Omega must maintain METAS accuracy for 70% of PR. 70% of 55 hr PR is 38ish hours. This is vastly longer than the Sub. This is also where the PR doesn't look as good, the SMP is maintaining accuracy for a huge chunk of the PR, again something the sub isn't tested to. I will speculate again here that the co axial is the reason for this. The efficiency gains compared to Swiss leaver gives an advantage in torque transfer to the balance wheel allowing greater accuracy throughout the PR. So even though the sub has substantially longer PR. The SMP is still competitive in this argument. There are a lot of unknowns here I know, but the Omega is clearly heavily underrated.
@@gfxdaddy the "better in every way" "superior watch" "king wears the crown" is what lead me to my own research. So many people claim to have identified the better movement through their own experience/testing/opinion. The problem here is both bias and whether any relevant paramaters are being controlled consistently across the testing. I agree that so many people regugitating unverified opinion as facts. It's not enough for me to accept one is better or more accurate, why, what is it that makes it so, how do I know I can trust that opinion. I personally would love to see an independent laboratory compare many different movements in a consistent manner. I don't believe I know enough to call the winner, But I doubt that would ever happen anyway.
@@gfxdaddy your a Rolex fan and that's fine, have at it, their fantastic. But METAS is the better spec. You can say want you want about 'your experience' but the reality is we all have bias. This was my point. I have seen people claim the same from the Omega perspective. Look at what is tested if the spec matters to you, if it doesn't that's fine also. Regardless what magical results you or any Omega only fan claims they have observed, those comments are irrelevant, sample size is small and bias is likely. Rolex don't test their accuracy over much of their PR, how much, I don't know but my reasons for believing it to be small is justified. METAS test their accuracy over a huge chunk of the their PR. This is why METAS is the better spec and why the accuracy is actually better even though the window is bigger. Omega test for accuracy and precision, Rolex don't. I like Rolex but I am cautious of their marketing, they are the best in the business, I suspect there is a reason why the accuracy is not tested over a larger PR range, I suspect it won't be maintained, and the marketing is more important. The reality is I'll probably never know. if I was Rolex, and the movement from Omega had me worried, I would narrow the PR range and chase a narrower accuracy window as well. Not saying this is what has happened, just being open minded about it.
I showed the mid finger to rolex AD and bought Omega in one of their boutique! Now I own Seamaster Summerblue! Love it! I will never buy rolex anymore! PP, AP, VC - for sure but no rolex!
You should be comparing the new 41mm submariner date. That’s more an apple to apple. Seamaster wins case back, less expensive, better anti magnetic. Sub wins bracelet, bezel, nicer case shape. I’ve owned both, I kept the sub.

@808Stevie That the Submariner may someday become an under retail watch might possibly happen. However, even after the used luxury watch market correction, the stainless Submariner market value is still significantly well above retail But that's conjecture on your part. The fact of the matter is that purchasing a new Omega will lose value the second you walk out your AD'S door. Omega, is not presently and will never be an over retail watch. I think the sub is better lol I do agree both are awesome you can’t go wrong with either one or both.
Omega all the way
Wins what? sub is much more iconic, has better value retention, is much more versatile everyday wearer and is the absolute standard for a sports/divers watch.
So again, better at what?
@@carlito1777you can get them new you must wait or build a relationship.

Not even close to the same shut.
The sub blows it away in iconic staus, is much more of a daily wear for all occasions, it won't look obsolete because a new iterations comes out every couple of years and sure as shit you're not going to take a 30% hit when you try and get rid of it.
For me it's like picking a favorite child , you can't do that :)) Both for me are great watches , each with their own flaws and qualities .
Omega " Métas" Rolex no Metas ! Donc la fiabilité des Rolex est de moins bonne qualité !
Omega all the way!

Yeah, but Rolex won't change the overall look of the Sub every few years.
How many iterations of the Omega on the past 10 years?
Booo! :)
I have the SMP and also happen to like the Sub.
Surely accessibility should be a factor ‘can a normal person, with the available credit, buy one?’
Great vid, thanks!
Haha! Thanks Andy, without a doubt, the smp offers amazing value and I would re-buy it without blinking, but this time on the bracelet version :)
Discovering your channel now… funny and self aware. The competition between two heavy hitters can’t have a winner. And the video plays well this theme. Pick what speaks to you as a collector and enjoy the playing with the decision and never take yourself too seriously… loved the video, Andrei!

I have the 116610LN Sub and also the white Seamaster and it's very difficult to choose between the two. If you take away the branding and cost / resale of the watches for me the Seamaster wins but only just.
just got the blue one today it’s such a beautiful watch. the sea master . if the sub was more accessible il own one one day.
Do you ever feel like you get bored of the 116610LN? It's a great iconic watch and wears fantastic but also feels so boring.

I have the same sub and to be honest with you I’m not impressed definitely omega cuz the finish of the swatch is flawless
Of course you would, Omega just can't be the everyday and do everything watch that a Sub is.
My ultimate would be the No Time to Die
It is so light! So comfy to wear. I find the steel sports Rolex and Omega too heavy and bulky generally
Dude the Omega is much bulkier than the Sub. Check the case width.
@rafaeloliva6425 most omega yes. But the one I'm talking about was so light when I tried it on. Just perfect
I've moved on anyway.
Uuu the black dateless one. Beauty!
@@BraveBeaters Yes. That or the black ceramic 43.5mm with sedna gold, but it looks a little too much like a Yachtmaster.

I’m definitely gonna sell my sub omega all the way love it company
Nice video, thank you. Think I have Rolex/Tudor fatigue. I'd take the Omega.
Fatigue of Rolex being the standard for sports watches?
Go ahead and get an Omega and see what happens when you try to get rid of it.

So charming
If the Seamaster 300 just makes a better bracelet it is flawless
The heritage seamaster 300 has an amazing bracelet if you a fan of omega
If only Omega had tapering bracelet.
The strong anti-magnetic properties of the watch are a testament to its quality. I have owned my Omega watch for five years now, and it has been working perfectly.
Compare the Planet Ocean and Omega wins by far 👌
The Sub design and Omega tech!
I like the Seamaster. I do. I want to like it more! But the Sub is just smarter & classier imho. It’s more grown-up somehow. Side by side the Rolex looks like the man versus the boy….
not with the new case.... the pre maxi case was classier, elegant and sofisticated.
Maybe. Though the latest 41mm sizing replaces the maxi with slightly thinner lugs so the case appears less bulky.
That makes sense SMP man and sub boy. SMP after all is often claimed to be 'too big'
Great work. More content like this please!
Roger! :)
For me Seamaster wins because I could buy one. Sub loses because it's realistically unavailable.
Loved this video, the ref 😂 👏
You're very BRAVE to consider those watches BEATERS.
Totally enjoyed this one! Keep up the good work and release more content!
The seamaster is a far more compelling offering when wearing it with the bracelet. In my opinion you shouldn't be comparing a sub and an omega one on a bracelet and the other on a rubber strap.
That's why the bracelet topic wasn't on the table.
We live in an amazing time where both watches exist.
If Omega made a good looking bracelet for the Seamaster this wouldn’t be a contest.
I yhink if the prices and availabilty were comparable then if people were honest they'd all go for the submariner
if prices and availability were the same then Rolex will lose its edge because Omega is obviously the better-engineered watch between the two.
…but what about the new Gen Sub? I’m guessing the new movement and refined design might put it in the 9.4-9.5 area.
Yeah I tried both on and decided on the sub. The sea master is just soooo heavy and gaudy compared to the Rolex’s jewelry / subtle luxury style.
I just wish the Seamasters design was more timeless. Id buy it in a heartbeat
Couldn’t agree more.
The 300SMP has stood the test of time, my 2265.80 is a beast, the wave 🌊 dial is fire 🔥
The deep black dial and the platinum markers on the Sub is what does it for me.
Sorry but definitely omega all the way i have the Rolex same one and the finish omega all the way
Platinum markers? Don't know who told you that mate they're stainless steel
Stainless steel plated with platinum and white gold on the hands. I like the larger pip on the sub for better legibility when diving.
Seamaster for the movement, Sub for the design!
I own both.
@@gfxdaddy Seamaster has a better movement and is a better watch in every single way
@@gfxdaddy I'll quantify it for you.
Well again, we don't know as it isn't tested, COSC probably but Superlative, there is a yawn gap to bridge here so I doubt it
Omega- these are tested by METAS who are far more transparent.

I wanted to compare it with the newer sub, but that one is long gone. Next time :D
You forgot to mention iconic status, much more versatile everyday and every occasion. If you bought the Omega at retail, I'm pretty sure you loss money, which would not happen with the Sub.
@@rafaeloliva6425 the submariner was an under retail watch before and I think it will be again, with the exception of the green model or other hard to get one
@808Stevie
That the Submariner may someday become an under retail watch might possibly happen. However, even after the used luxury watch market correction, the stainless Submariner market value is still significantly well above retail
But that's conjecture on your part. The fact of the matter is that purchasing a new Omega will lose value the second you walk out your AD'S door. Omega, is not presently and will never be an over retail watch.
Rolexes retain their value and are so much easier to sell if you ever wish to do so. The Submariner is and will remain the gold standard for luxury sports watches. That's a fact and not my opinion or conjecture.

Erm... the divers' duel just ended, my friend. You seem a little hot, though, so take your chrono-diver for a relaxing swim.
They are the two most iconic chronographs of course. But the comparison stops here. The build quality, finish, reliability is from another world with the Daytona vs the Speedmaster

As for the seamaster vs the submariner I would buy a seamaster before the sub. I think both watches are equal. Even in appearance I do not prefer one over the other. So it comes down to price. I can get a watch that is equal to the submariner for half the price.

First of all I’ve never said that I „love the Seamaster…“ where exactly? I said that I am more torn towards the brand Omega. Secondly I don’t care about how gRiPpY the bezel is, it’s still hideous.
Don’t be so triggered because other people dislike your watch choice, that’s rather childish.
In my mind if we compare them without price in mind Rolex wins, but barely.
If we keep the price in mind, Omega wins easily.
Agreed :)
Wins at what, the sub is the most iconic sports diver watch ever, is much more of an everyday do everything watch and value retention is just not even close.
So wins at what?
This is easy for me. Sub hands down . I have the 126610ln and wouldn't swap it it for any omega
Sub, sadly left the building first :D
