I originally tried to buy a submariner but was treated awfully by the minimum wage shop assistant at the Rolex AD. I then went to an omega AD and was treated like a king and walked out with the blue seamaster.I’m glad I did,the blue with bits of red just pops and omega have a loyal customer for life.
I got mine a little over a month ago, blue with metal bracelet, I’ve been checking the accuracy, so far it’s running about 0.4 seconds fast per day, or about 12 seconds per month, that’s slightly better than my friends Rolex, I have no real complaints, it’s my everyday tool watch.
the 90's version bracelet was narrower, and did not seem to be designed to look flat like the newer ones are. They are made to resemble tank tracks in my opinion. These bracelets were actually made in France.
I've been watching your channel for over a 1.5 years now and have never commented. This video was absolutely wonderful, keep up the good work and I wish you a speedy recovery!
My daily piece is a Omega SMPc 300. Waveless dial in black. Personally love the uniqueness of the HE valve and bond bracelet. Sets apart from every other watch on the market and I love that. The newer iterations are a bit flashy with the waves and oversized for most individuals. Wish they would step it back to 40 or 41mm like the good old days…
I don’t miss my Rolex, submariner, and my Tudor Pelagos is always in danger of being traded in… But my Seamaster professional with white dial isn’t going anywhere…
I think you’re one of the only big TH-cam Watch Reviewers that actually show a simple clear clip of the bezel action. So many just brush over that as a thing that people do. So thank you
Bezel action is important, lume but overall the functionality, performance and comfort of the bracelet is problably like on the top of items to worry about when purchasing any watch. My Rolex Oyster bracelet from my GMT- II coke dial from 2005 looks amazing now, plus the bracelet itself is comfortable and requires no care.
I got one as a retirement gift and I am surprised about how hard (slippery) to grip the bezel, wish it had more groves to better turn it, but besides that loving it.
first of all, that is much too generous of you to call be a "big TH-cam reviewer" haha! I'm still so tiny in the space! ^_^ But you know, I really wish I showed more bezel and explained it more than I did. But yeah, I feel like we deserve better from Omega! >=|
@@BrittPearceWatches for the price of an Omega, the bracelet should be their immediate concern in terms of finishing, wearability, functionality and long term durability. If you look at Christopher Ward, their bracelets seems pretty solid given the price point of the watches they offer.
This is a great watch. I bot mine in 1998 and had it serviced just once and it’s been my daily watch since. And with regards to the manual helium valve; just one piece of advice. Get over it. It’s not a deal breaker and brings uniqueness to the brand
I bought my omega Seamaster 300 back in 2004, and it was my first luxury dive watch purchase. I’ve never had any issues with the anti-reflection coat at all. And I’ve never had any other type of issues with it. Also it is about 39 mm in size which goes well with my small wrist. I wish companies would stop just making giant 42 mm dive watches. And most of the dive watches I see are Rolex submariners.
I have last gen Planet Ocean and I have scratched the anti-reflection coating. But I'm also kind of active and treat the PO like a beater watch. The scratch is really not noticeable during the regular wear and I only notice it if it bright out and I'm looking carefully at the watch. I understand why Adrian mentioned it since it will bother some people, but it's also not a big deal at all.
I now have 3 Omegas, collected over a few years, my Speedmaster was a gift from my wife, the Aqua Terra bought by my Grandma, and finally the Seamaster, which I actually wear the least, Speedmaster still my favourite, but I’ve wanted one since I was 11 year old, and my wife bought me it 😊
Traded in my Rolex submariner for a white dial Omega Seamaster professional. Love it and like that there aren’t a ton of fakes out there. I’m also Glad to have an Omega from 1950, my birthyear.
I have the midsize Goldeneye SMP 300 and I love it! It really is a unique dive watch due to the wave dial, HE valve, scalloped bezel and 5 link bracelet. I thought I would hate the bracelet but I think its one of the most comfortable. That diver's extension is amazing. The bezel action for my watch is good but it can be hard to grip at times. The HE valve doesn't bother me at all. Sure, its useless to most people but I find it charming. The James Bond connection is a big reason why i like the HE valve. It can't be denied that the Omega Seamaster Professional has massive cool factor. The value is also a big contender. It's not for everyone but the fans REALLY like it
Hey Britt, the lighting in this video is exceptional. I love that you have more natural light bleeding in (or at least it looks like it) than the majority of watch channels, it gives your video a much more human touch and relatable feel. Keep it up!
Ahhhh thabk you!!! You know your lighting! 🤣 half the shots were natural light!!! This week I am challenging myself to use more natural light! 😱 I’ve grown far too dependent on studio lights! So I’m trying to challlenge myself!
Bought this in black over 2 years ago. I love this watch and wear it almost every day. The bracelet isn’t my favorite style but it is very comfortable and functional. It doesn’t look big at all on my 7 1/4 in wrist. It has been 2 seconds fast per day over 2 years. The bezel takes some getting used to but slides easily under a cuff. The helium escape valve is unnecessary but you don’t notice it when on wrist. Great watch for the price.
bought a Subbie back in 86 and it wore it every day for 36 years. I was ready to retire it and get a Seadweller Redline and was told if I bought 5k of jewelry I didn’t want I would be placed on a waiting list. Screw them. So I had the Subbie completely redone with a new bracelet. It looked brand new. It just didn’t scratch the itch. So I started looking for something else and found that there are watches out there that are just plain better than the crown. I saw this Omega on line and read all I could find. Sure the Blancpaine Fifty Fathoms is absolutely wonderful, but the 300m was just so damn beautiful. I went to Richmond last August, walked into Schwartchilds and told the girl I wanted a blue dial 300m. I was treated like a king and 15 minutes the decision was made. I absolutely love wearing this watch and the Subbie has now been retired. I have learned this about Rolex, most people buy one for the “effect” it has on other people. Many think it will open doors, cause people to whisper behind their hand, or kick the dirt because they don’t have one, when in all actuality they don’t give a shit what you have on your wrist. Go try on a Sub then try the 300and buy the watch for you not for some bullshit status symbol. My farm watch is a G Shock and it’s a fantastic watch, just love it. Last thought, in the 30 plus years I wore the Rolex the one comment I heard the most was, “Man, is that real or a fake?” So buy what you want.
I like the bracelet but prefer the proportions of the original wave dial version. Did opt for the NTTD bc it was so unique but otherwise waiting for a 165.024 reissue before snagging another Seamaster
I never wore any Omegas until today funnily. I spent about an hour in my AD (he just kept bringing out more and more watches, and bringing out the champagne) and in the end I settled on the Aqua Terra 38mm. I even tried on the Moonshine gold, and for a laugh the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep! I never had an appreciation for Omega up until today. Now I really do (well done for the AD doing his job well, hah).
I got two Seamaster 300, and they’re my favorite ones. One’s got a steel band on an 8“ wrist, the summer blue dial, the other one‘s a a steel and gold case with a rubber armband and a black dial. They both are perfect „dailies“ because they are sturdy, can deal with mechanical stress and are not too flashy. Plus the are pretty accurate for an automatic. Both run about 10-12 seconds fast in three months. What I really like about the „Summer Blue“ model is the back with the Poseidon and the different shades of blue. I never regretted either of them and they are just perfect for every day, at work or going out. Thanks for your slightly different review 😉
I like the bracelet as you said it's very distinctive and part of the Seamaster look. Also on this kind of 5 link design a taper to the bracelet would look weird because the link's wouldn't be symmetrical down it's length.
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the AMZWATCH's watches are the most intriguing.
I recently bought a Speedmaster 3570.50 and I am an Omega fanboy now. I'm currently shopping for a Seamaster blue dial and likely a chronograph. Thank you for the review.
3:03 13,5" is a pretty thick watch... I think you mean 13,5 mm here 😉 I must say I'm underwhelmed with the grippiness of the bezel, I found it pretty cumbersome to operate.
Great review. I recently picked up one on the rubber, stunning build quality. The height however is a challenge vs my other stuff. Let’s see how the summer goes with it
Bought mine this week, black dial on a bracelet, although the Mrs won't let me have it until January as it's for my 40th, had to buy it now because Omega boutique told me price is going up this month! Got a tidy discount too by getting them to price match another retailer so paid about £4,800, I'm well happy with that, just need to wait now lol.
The diver 300m (in blue) is my second luxury watch purchase with the 1st being the latest iteration of the speedy pro (sapphire sandwhich) so I guess this makes me now an official Omega fanboy; or one in the making. With that said, although I don’t have a ton of experience (but have spent a lot of time watching and reading up on reviews and trying on watches) I have to say this watch, in my humble opinion, is striking. It has presence, without being too beefy. It’s thick, but considering it’s a diver with sapphire crystal, I believe 13.6mm is an impressive size. The dial, I’ve found to be gorgeous. You hear people say it’s a chameleon and it’s true. Depending on the lighting conditions this dial completely changes from a dark navy to light blue and even appears almost midnight blue in darker conditions. Being a teen of the 90s and and growing up loving the tag s-link integrated bracelet, I have to say this watch also has an iconic style. I also purchased the rubber strap with the omega buckle clasp and this totally adds to the sportiness of the design and transforms the watch. If people have issues with the band, that’s probably the easiest fix and mod you can perform on a watch. I find the bracelet, along with the helium escape valve, skeletonized hands, and dial gives this watch so much character it really stands out from the crowd. One final note, there’s another popular TH-cam influencer who has the diver 300m and wears the heck out of the watch who hasn’t had any issues with the coating. So, maybe it depends on how the user wears the watch and if the dial gets a hard direct hit. something to take note of, for sure, but it sounds as though it’s a very superficial marking that you really need to look hard to find. I feel if you’re on the fence to buy this watch, go for it. Chances are, you won’t regret it. Love your channel and reviews, hope your healing process goes quickly and you’re doing and amazing job putting out new content!
The Helium escape valve has always been a bit of a problem few of us divers will get to use it for it’s intended purpose. That being said it’s still good to have it ,it’s part of its DNA now. Up side is it’s less obtrusive now that they’ve made it conical in shape .as for the bracelet yes they could do better on many levels a slight tapering would help ,but from a production point of view more work more expensive.
Love this video. The SMP was my first “proper” watch and if you twisted my arm would probably be my only if I had to choose. One point on the helium escape valve; love it or loathe it at least it gives us watch geeks something to lecture unsuspecting muggles on at dinner parties!
Great review Britt, as always. Anti reflective coating on the outside isn’t a great feature, aids in clarity, but it will scratch if you’re heavy handed with your watches. Helium Escape valve, decisive as it is, if it wasn’t there the Seamaster would loose some of it’s identity. Bracelet, NEEDS TO TAPPER!!!! All said and done love the SMP 300. Desperate for a reissue of the 2254.50 though. Cheers
When you compare this to the Pelagos it is thinner and the Pelagos is more of a tool watch. the white dial which i have is awesome. you are completely correct about the bracelet.
I'm a little confused on the bezel action. Not that super educated on high-end watches, could you tell me what you felt was wrong with the clicking rotating function? Thank you : )
Check out the short she posted yesterday. 👍🏽 In short, the grip isn’t good, and the ratchet is a little sloppy and doesn’t feel as crisp as others available.
Oh Britt! 1. Having owned a Seamaster for 27 years no I have to say: 1. The bezel noise…, very distinctive. Very cool. Helium escape valve looks cool. Has no real function to me, but just a cool gadget. Now, let’s come to the bracelet. The bracelet is called the Tank Track bracelet and it does look like the track on a tank. Overall, lovely watch.
I considered getting it, I looked at the white dial, blue dial and that gray dial, I noticed that the two lighter dial ones where not as easy to see at a quick glance, the darker dial was much easier, so I got the blue dial, you’ll be able to figure it out in person.
Brittany, like this video. I'm not a Rolex fanboy. I would like one at some point. My "Best" watch is Seamaster 2222.80. 36mm; Blue; CoAxial. It is unmistakable from a mile away. It is a reissue circa 2006(?) of the Brosnan Bond Era. Yes the bracelet is 90s! So? Escape Valve is an eyesore! The dial on this model is subtle. The Hands are Iconic. I read an review of the Escape Valve, and the guy said that he didn't like the valve either; He pretend it was a remote detonator or Laser! I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world(almost). Feel Better.
I have a very soft spot in my heart for Omega and the Brosnan-era SMP as it was my first luxury watch. But I do wish they come out something that is styled similarly to a military-Seamaster. The current SMP is too large, too blingy, too fanciful and not the most functional (skeletonized hands hurt the lume performance, the scalloped bezel is not the easiest to turn).
I agree with you on the bracelet. Looks very 90’s and to me it actually gives it a dress watch vibe. It doesn’t look like a bracelet for a tool watch. My favourite model of the Seamaster is the titanium 2231.50
This year I bought one, I got the green one and I got to this conclusions: - The bezel is nice and it’s not that hard to use as people say ( even in the wet ). - The watch doesn’t feel as thick as people think. At least 2 mm are parte of the case back which in my wrist just disappear so the watch doesn’t feel thin, but it doesn’t feel like a “thick” watch either. - The bracelet is extremely solid. It’s thick, it’s sturdy and the clasp works like a charm, it shimmers under the light so nicely and it ends up looking so nice. Nonetheless because of all of what I have just said, I think if your worst is under 7 inches it can make the watch feel very heavy and bulky at time to time. I love divers, and, although I love the design of the Submariner, sometimes i think is such a boring watch compared to the Seamaster ( as many divers are ). The lugs, the bezel and the bracelet just makes it so unique, so specific, so elegant, so gracious… in my opinion, a Seamaster is way more a competitor to something like a FF competitor rather than a Submariner competitor.
Actually many just complain about Omega thickness on paper. Many speedmasters and seamasters have multiple layer design it doesn't look and feel thick at all. My speedmaster 3861 looks bigger and thicker on paper than my 16610 sub ...but if you put the 2 side by side or wear them ...the sub definitely looks much chunkier.
The Seamaster Professional 300 (White Dial) is my daily and its simply amazing IMO. Very versatile. Unlike most, I love the non-tapering bracelet - just stands out as a differentiator in look and feel. Bezel action stiff, but irrelevant for me. Only dink I have is that while the applied markers have amazing lume - the skeleton hands are so thin that viewing them after a bit in the dark is super difficult, despite the excellent lume. As always, great content!
I owned the white dial for a bit. Very fun watch, but IMO overrated. Bracelet comfort was utter dogshit. Bezel usability was utter dogshit. As you mentioned, lowlight legibility was utter dogshit. Great watch, highly recommend.
You know! I sooo agree with your “dink”. This wasn’t something I noticed until I was watching my B Roll footage back and I thought the same thing!!! 💕✨
I own the blue, and like you, my daily. Gym, running, anything. You name it. I also like the bracelet, very masculine. I have a 7.375" wrist, so I like a larger watch and bracelet.
Britt, I am rather surprised that you reviewed a dive watch AND live on an island, without taking it into the ocean! I own the 300M and absolutely love wearing it!
@@BrittPearceWatches 😊 Britt, and I thought you were Jacques Cousteau’s daughter. Just kidding around. I like your vids since you take the perspective of us as collectors.
It's not a true Seamaster video without mentioning a Submariner. 😅 I feel one of the unsung pros of the Seamaster is the on-the-fly adjustment. While the Glide Lock is supposed to be class leading, I feel Omega's micro adjustment has the benefit of being able to adjust it without taking the watch completely off the wrist.
Google ‘Omega Clasp Issues’. They often either fall open or lock shut! The locking shut thing (then having to have the watch unscrewed from your wrist) has been going on for years and still affects current production SMP300’s.
@@alfieakaronaldog yeah, I have firsthand experience. I'm not saying it's necessarily better than the Glidelock, but I do like that I can keep the watch on wrist while I adjust the Omega clasp.
@@JLUnit416 Yes I can see it’s handy. A good bracelet is so underrated and it’s a massive part of the watch for me. It’s funny how people defend the absolutely awful and completely unadjustable Grand Seiko bracelets when at the other end of the scale you have one that can be adjusted under a cuff without even looking at it!
Owning a 42mn Planet Ocean 2201.50 first gen it's still my favorite modern Omega Diver, they really got the proportions and aesthetics right the first time around.
@@tc5074 it's really such a great watch, while the newer version are great watches with a mechanical superior in movement I still much prefer the 2500, mine has ran flawless since 2008, it's slimmer mid case visually wears much slimmer than the 8500/8900 which almost looks stubby in comparison and then there's the matte black dial with printed white tri arabics with that open 6 & 9 font thats a throwback to the classic Seamster's of the late 60's, I much prefer the more subdued toolish look to the much blingier/shinier new models, it just has a more timeless and elegant design IMO, enjoy your new 2201.50👍
This convinced me that the Rolex Submariner can be priced at most 20% to 30% higher for the better bracelet and marketing efforts. No way double the price of this Seamaster! The helium escape valve is just a Seamaster historical signature and not ugly or inappropriate. Why insist on removing it?
It's not just the bracelet and marketing. The Submariner is better in almost every regard. I’ve owned both for several years, and a lot of this is objective. The others who get defensive when I list the reasons are either mad that they can’t get a Submariner from an AD or want to convince themselves the Seamaster is equal at a cheaper price point which it isn't. It IS a substitute. However, it is not a better watch from a practical, wearable standpoint. Starting outside and working our way in, the Submariner is thinner and slides under a cuff with ease. The lug to lug is WAY more manageable (lug to lug of the Seamaster is the same of an Explorer 2 which is absurd). The clasp is not as bulky, and using the extension system does not lengthen the clasp. These are important because you don't want to catch your wrist on a doorframe with a watch this large. The bezel action is far superior whereas the scalloped bezel is hard to turn. The platinum inlay is higher quality. If you look at the SMP enamel up close you notice all the holes throughout the material, it's porous looking. The platinum inside the Rolex bezel does not fade over time, so it is equal to enamel in this regard. The Rolex bezel is a 10, the SMP bezel is a 6.5. The SMP bracelet is really bad and pulls hair. It also doesn’t have any taper. Your only alternative is the rubber strap which feels a lot better but doesn't have a deployment clasp, it's a pin buckle. The deployment clasp is another 500 DOLLARS... For a SS Deployment clasp lol. The outer AR coating scratches and when it does, it looks ugly. Most importantly, the skeleton hands lume sucks. It fails it’s only role as a dive watch because the lume on the green minute hand dies far before the blue indices do, and it's something none of the reviews say for some reason. As for movements, the Rolex has a much better power reserve. The Rolex is also more accurate. Omega accuracy is guaranteed to 0/+5 seconds per day. That is a 6 second window. The Rolex accuracy is guaranteed to +2/-2 (a 5 second window). Don't forget that the Rolex accomplishes this with the use of a traditional Swiss lever which is way more impressive AND a less complicated movement than the co-axial. The Rolex movement will beat at 8hz while the Omega beats at a choppy 7bph. This is the most important part about the movement because it's something you can see throughout daily wear. The Omega hands will never be as smooth and the model doesn't even trade better power reserve for it. The service intervals are going to be the exact same with the Rolex costing slightly more which doesn't make sense because the whole point of the co-axial is to have a longer service interval. Lastly, people will throw the METAS certification like it automatically makes the Omega movement better. It doesn't. Most of Tudor uses movements that are METAS certified now. You know who the parent company of Tudor is...? Rolex. If Rolex gave a shit about some METAS certification, all their movements would pass with flying colors. But Rolex is a company that prefers to do everything in house, down to the bracelets and screws, and that includes their own certification which is the superlative. The Rolex is more refined and most who own both agree with this; I can actually wear it on my smaller wrist and it doesn't look like a kid trying to wear a G-Shock.
I owned this watch for almost 4 years but black on black rubber strap. It was incredible! I moved it to get extra cash for the Polar Explorer II, but I wish I could've kept it.
Interesting. It’s crazy how marketing and brand equity makes you sell a more technically superior watch and buy a technically inferior watch for twice the price (assuming you paid retail). 😂
I missed it when I sold it based on sentimental value and the memories I made with the watch on, but I'm not yearning to get another one. That comment was more for the person who may be contemplating purchasing one. I bought the Omega back in 2019 when I originally wanted a Batman. Local AD at the time said no chance so I went and bought an Omega. Fast forward 3 years and that AD lost their license. The new AD is awesome and I have a great relationship with them. They were able to land me a Batman after some time and they are truly awesome! Now that I have a great relationship with an AD, I don't have any interest in buying Omega. They're great watches, but I'd rather buy a Rolex with my money. LV Sub Date is next on the list so I don't see myself buying another SMP, but I still think they're beautiful watches and sound mechanical tools if this is someone's first luxury watch purchase.
Hi Britt, first off congratulations on your upcoming addition to the family. It is life changing and in a great way. Now for the Seamaster. I recently bought one and absolutely love it for a couple of reasons. It’s a dive watch and it looks like one and feels like one. I like the non tapered bracelet since if it was tapered it would not look right. Not sure why you don’t like the bezel but it’s fine. You have to get used to the scalloped edges but once you do it works perfectly. The biggest reason to buy any Omega is that when you walk into an AD or better yet a boutique you get treated with respect and not distain. My Omega boutique is directly across the street from a Bucherer boutique and when I looked at used Rolexes for 150% of retail, they treated me like crap and even when I could buy any of the watches they had. Omega was completely different, we were taken to a private area and everything about buying experience was great. Oh and the dial is spectacular. I have the polar Seamaster and I can’t stop looking at it. It wears great and I have no buyers remorse. In fact we will be buying each of our sons a Seamaster in the next few months. Is it perfect no, but the experience and the quality of the watch are really second to none which needs to be celebrated given Rolex’s arrogance. Again congratulations on both your recovery and your upcoming family addition. Love your channel.
Brittany, your videos are the very best! Please make more of them as often as you can! Thank you for your absolute honesty in evaluating the Omega Seamaster 300M Dive Watch. I believe the best strap is the Omega blue rubber strap that is an option available at purchase. The 300M is a great value at half the price of a Submariner at the Rolex AD, which of course, they don't have any to sell!
Helium valve is part of its DNA so it gives it a distinct look, doesn't bother me at all. And people complain about the bracelet and I on the other hand just LOVE it, it is just sooo comfortable and gives it a different (90s) look and doesn't pull on your hair at all like I've experienced with the mesh bracelet that comes with the titanium bond seamaster
The bracelet is criminally underrated imo! I think it looks amazing and has great functionality. It gives the watch a masculin and heavy feel but being comfortable at the same time.
Looks are subjective, maybe comfort is too, but that bracelet is not comfortable at all. The lack of a taper makes the watch legit uncomfortable to wear all day. I went with the rubber strap which is amazing.
@@bluemystic7501comfort is subjective too. it is comfy. others are more comfortable, but it also depends how you wear your watch. if you wear it behind your wristbone, like the classic gents do, no problems at all. if you wear watches directly at your wrist infront of the wristbone, people also complain of the crown digging into the wrist if they bend it. yeah the the bracelet is not comfy. just wear the watch properly.
The bracelet is the most hated thing about this watch. It looks so dated and too busy. I'm tempted to sell my previous generation version for this very reason. I should have got a submariner when they were readily available 6 years ago.
@@bluemystic7501the bracelet is universally seen as ugly and dated. Ask anyone on the street who is not blind. It is the worse thing about the watch. Beauty is subjective but because you have no taste and no one agrees with you doesn't mean it is criminally underrated. I cannot legit think of an uglier bracelet. Get it on a Nato asap please.
I have, love and wear daily a highly overlooked and dismissed Omega Planet Ocean. I have the 39.5 black ceramic and steel. Fantastic watch. My exit piece.
Good review, fresh take is nice. I'm a big Omega fan and agree that it's an objectively outstanding watch, and a great value. I bought the same blue one and eventually sold it on. I just thought it was too big, which is amazing because I love my 2254; hard to believe that 1mm could make that much difference. My likes: Unique and interesting design. Exceptional quality and timekeeping. Dislikes: Bezel hard to turn with wet or sweaty fingers (form over function). No taper bracelet with huge clasp and too many sharp edges (I actually liked the design, though). Keep up the good work!
My wife bought me a watch for Christmas. Not just any watch. An Omega Seamaster Diver Co-Axial Master Chronometer, 44mm Chronograph. It is marked on the back as being produced for the 38th America’s Cup Yacht Race, held in Auckland, NZ, in 2021. The thing is absolutely beautiful. With a blue face with touches of Red and White. And I’m sure it’s a mechanical watchmaking masterpiece. One problem though. This is a big, heavy wristwatch. Which takes a lot of getting accustomed to. When being worn with its medal bracelet it can become downright uncomfortable after a few hours. So if you are going to buy one of these things, get a few NATO straps or use the provided rubber strap. It is strictly a sports item. You cannot comfortably wear it under a long sleeve shirt cuff. But when you step up to the bar people notice. And if you ever need to time a yacht race…
🤣 I feel like I learned bright backgrounds at such an unfortunate time! I took a product photography course (mostly for shoe photography! Gagaga!) and they taught me to use bright backgrounds! Unfortunately it is so associated with Evan in the watch space! But man, his shots and use of space is AMAZING! 💕💕✨
I purchased an Omega Seamaster in 2003. It was my only watch for 15 years. When I purchased it I didn’t new much about watches, had no idea this was in any way associated with James Bond and…I had no idea it was a divers watch. I purchased it because I new Omega was a respected brand, I could afford it and it was beautiful. It is fascinating that my dear Seamaster was defeated when it filled with water while taking a shower…and it never gave accurate time (I guess my standards for timekeeping far exceed the capabilities of mere mechanical watches…so is life). So no it was not a perfect watch in my experience. And I have since moved on to far better things. But it is still very beautiful to my eyes!
@@svfutbol20 I didn’t had it service by Omega. It was too expensive for me. My local watch repair shop inspected the watch and got it running again before I sold it. They told me the water got in through the HE scape valve, which I never touched. Even though it was working I sold it as water damaged. Wanted to keep it honest. Now none of my current watches require service which is great. Still after 5 years we should all be aware, no mater the brand or model, of the gasket limitations as they decay over time. Thank you for your comment.
@@JuanPerez-sv8qs Every watch requires service, and it’s a shame you never serviced your Omega. If you could afford it new, you could afford a few hundred dollars for a service every 5 years. These instruments require care, and I hope you’ve learned your lesson in that regard.
@@svfutbol20 Yes the Omegas require service to keep them ticking. But not all watches require service, or winding, or new batteries. I no longer own any mechanical watches. You may not prefer other kind of watches. But the fact is non-mechanical watches do perform far better, with a lot less hassle and a far lower intro cost. And they can be quite beautiful and made of excellent materials. Just broaden your horizons and consider what else is out there. You will be pleasantly surprised. As I have posted in other watch forums, one of my great watch pleasures is opening my watch box in the morning and having all my modern watches telling exactly the same time (because they self synchronize overnight) knowing I don’t need to wind nor service nor change a battery every couple of years on any of them. Some have plastic bodies, some are stainless steel bodies and some are titanium. Most have anti-reflective coated Safire glass. I go diving with all of them (all are 10-20 atm water resistant). Average cost: $775/each. A clue: they ALL come from Japan.
@@JuanPerez-sv8qs Seiko Astrons or Citizens, no? They all require battery replacements eventually. Sorry, but battery watches are about as interesting as iPods and Electric cars. They’re disposable. I’m more of a vinyl record, flat-six, manual gearbox kinda guy. I love when my Planet Ocean is off a couple minutes at the end of the week, it lets me pause and admire it as I set the time on Monday morning.
I STILL own a Seamaster 300 Chrono from the year 2000. It STILL amazing to look at today. I’ve only had to service the watch twice in 23 years. I always said, I’d buy a new version one day…but the OG still looks just as good, and I don’t dive any more, so why upgrade?….well, I’ll tell ya why. That white dial version looks amazing! So, there is no doubt I’ll be buying another “white dial” Seamaster 300. The Helium escape valve is for sure outdated! I also think that the crown on these “dive” watches are too small. But, no watch is perfect…but Omega’s horological tech is second to none.
I have the quartz model from the mid to late 1990s. Nice watch. Love the resistance to dish water dunking, desk diving and car wash back-splash. A true diver's watch. OO+ for sure..
Wow Britt your house looks lovely. I have the black dial version of the Diver 300 but also want a blue dial. I’ll wait and see what happens this Anniversary year.
Great video, Brittany, thank you. Another channel photoshopped changes to smp300m: took out he valve, tapered bracelet, changed 12:00 marker... it all SOUNDED good, but then seeing it, well, it looked too Rolex Subby, to me, anyway.
I just picked up a pristine 2264, exactly the same case, etc as 2254 but with Quartz movement. It's beautiful, and the tapered 'speedy' bracelet is so much nicer than the current lineup. AND only 11.4mm thick!! I think Omega need to re-visit the 2254 when they re-design the 300m, bring back the broad swords and fix the damn braclet....😃
I love the bracelet, but I'm with you that I don't like the fact that it is so identifiable. So majority of the time, I have it on the Omega rubber strap for the seamaster. Gives it a more subtle and sporty look.
The Helium escape valve is probably the most iconic thing about the watch, a Seamaster without it would be just another generic dive watch. About the bracelet, you should try the original rubber strap on it, it’s amazing!
Definitely agree on the bracelet. Compared to speedmaster and rolex Sub the Seamster bracelet feels a little loose and cheap when I tried it on in the store. Love the watch tho and will probably get the blue on blue seamaster with a blue band. I love that combo
I have a Seamaster Pro in blue. It’s the only dive watch I own. Overall I love it, but agree with your comments: the bracelet should have a slight taper, and the helium valve should go.
Britt!! So for the first 8 minutes, I was chanting the 2254 is better, the 2254 is better, the 2254 is better. And then you made my day!!! One thing I will argue over and over, the skeleton hands are horrible. The sword hands need to make a come back, and never leave us again. Great video, and awesome cameo from Editing Britt. Long Live the Cult(s)!!
Bahahaha. ITS ALL ABOUT THE SWORD HANDS!!! And the 2254 HE escape valve is exactly how it should be! It’s like a tooth paste cap on the modern version! 😅 I was thinking about doing pre ceramic vs ceramic SMP video! ….. I think we all know which I prefer tho! 😅
@@AdhamHossam165 I feel like it's a bit counter-productive on something claiming to be a tool watch, though. I feel like if you're actually using it for diving you want maximized legibility.
I have the Seamaster NTTD with both the Milanese bracelet and the NATO. It is awesome. I like the helium escape valve even if unlike my father did, I shall not get involved in saturation diving… I like the scalopped bezel, I like the doomed crystal, the colour… it’s perfect although it could be 1mm slimmer…
I have this exact watch on both bracelet and strap. First, the rubber strap SAVES this model. It’s fitted, it tapers, it’s high quality (titanium inside the keeper and triangle rubber pin so second keeper does not slide). Beautiful. Bracelet: could it taper? Yes. Just look at the Lange Odysseus. It’s this exact design with the taper. But that in itself is not a deal vreaker, and to be fair the look is unique, and I like that. You don’t need to have a 3 link boring bracelet like everyone. But this could be a “jubilee” more dressy option, and Omega could offer something sportier as well. The main sin that goes unaddressed is the thickness of the links. That is what hurts the proportions. Look at a Cartier Santos and how slim the bracelet is, and even a Rolex oyster looks thick. Jewelers beating the watchmakers once more. Proportion, proportion, proportion. Jewelers get that. In this regard, the watch should be thinner. Period. Omega had a 11mm watch in the 90s versions, with the ultra thin 1120 ETA that is sexy as they come. So don’t tell me in 2023 they have to make this thing. They do it because they want to. And the escape valve, fine, don’t mind, just tuck it in like the earlier versions. And we make all these observations because we love Omega, they are beautiful and can make all these things happen and we want to stop getting abused by Rolex 😂
always enjoy and look forward to your content.

I originally tried to buy a submariner but was treated awfully by the minimum wage shop assistant at the Rolex AD. I then went to an omega AD and was treated like a king and walked out with the blue seamaster.I’m glad I did,the blue with bits of red just pops and omega have a loyal customer for life.
rolex sux. visiting the dealer is like going to a dominatrix
Lmao @ minimum wage shop assistant. Drag him 😂 😂 I get it though, they act horribly.
Got my black seamaster 300 no problem lovely watch
Lol I had the exact same thing happen to me at a Tag Heuer AD. Went to Breitling around the corner and bought a SuperOcean Heritage 2.
Lol had to throw minimum wage in there
I got mine a little over a month ago, blue with metal bracelet, I’ve been checking the accuracy, so far it’s running about 0.4 seconds fast per day, or about 12 seconds per month, that’s slightly better than my friends Rolex, I have no real complaints, it’s my everyday tool watch.
Funnily, the bezel action, the helium escape valve and the bracelet are my absolute favorite parts of this watch = )
the 90's version bracelet was narrower, and did not seem to be designed to look flat like the newer ones are. They are made to resemble tank tracks in my opinion. These bracelets were actually made in France.
yeah I don't get what she's saying about the bezel action?
@@emhezmfeCompare to Tudor and Rolex, it's mediocre. But I choose the Omega any day.
@@mobydick3895it wasn’t narrower. Both are 20mm with no taper
Same!

I've been watching your channel for over a 1.5 years now and have never commented. This video was absolutely wonderful, keep up the good work and I wish you a speedy recovery!
Whaaaat! Thanks for this comment! And I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! I really am just trying to get a little better every video!
This was my first luxury watch purchase….. and I’m REALLY happy with it.
I've had this blue version for a few years and love it. I was able to get the seaweed one a few weeks ago. The green looks almost black when indoors.
My experience exactly! My green one has yet to look green in my home - just black. I like that it's a bit of a chameleon.
While it's no Rolex or even Tudor, I don't find the SMP300's bezel action to be terrible, but the traction on the scallops is its major downfall.
first of all, that is much too generous of you to call be a "big TH-cam reviewer" haha!
I have it and love it, the biggest negative about: it comes with no additional straps and the rubber strap is unreasonably priced (around $560).
•The bracelet is part of the essence of that watch.
😂 oui comme le bracelet milanais qui est horrible à porter
Well, almost all (other) companies DID stop making giant dive watches several years ago. 😉
😂
I now have 3 Omegas, collected over a few years, my Speedmaster was a gift from my wife, the Aqua Terra bought by my Grandma, and finally the Seamaster, which I actually wear the least, Speedmaster still my favourite, but I’ve wanted one since I was 11 year old, and my wife bought me it 😊
I wanted a Seamaster since July 1969......I got one eventually in 2014.
Wait, a woman gifted you an Omega? WTF, how is everyone so lucky...
The bracelet is actually one of my favorite parts of this watch. It’s very unique and iconic to this watch.
Traded in my Rolex submariner for a white dial Omega Seamaster professional. Love it and like that there aren’t a ton of fakes out there. I’m also Glad to have an Omega from 1950, my birthyear.
I appreciated this review. I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well
I have the midsize Goldeneye SMP 300 and I love it! It's not for everyone but the fans REALLY like it
Wearing my blue dial on bracelet watching this! I love how the blue changes depending on the lighting
Love the review. Keep killin’ it!
bought a Subbie back in 86 and it wore it every day for 36 years.
Love my gray dial on the bracelet it’s a little heavy but loved. The NATO strap changes that and the style.
I mean they could taper the outer links only. Rolex is able to put a taper on their jubilees so it can be done
@@fabriziopizzanelli7035 yes but on this tank track design a taper just wouldn't suit in my opinion.
@@benlait3696 Yeah I see what you mean
Have a white dial one with bracelet. Love the dial reflects the lights.. Replace the same with rubber strap and my SMP is my regular weekends watch.
I did consider this until I tested it on my wrist and found the Planet Ocean 39.5mm wears A LOT better. Been 6 months of happy bliss since then.
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the AMZWATCH's watches are the most intriguing.
Concern with the bracelet is a sign that you didn't experience the 90s or play Goldeneye for hours on end.
I'm so glad we all have an opinion about them, yours are as valid as mine. Taste is what it comes to in the end. I simply love them.
Great review. I recently picked up one on the rubber, stunning build quality. The height however is a challenge vs my other stuff. Let’s see how the summer goes with it
Forgot to say, congrats on The About Effing Time feature, well earned praise for the fantastic job you do Britt
Caught this as well, and I was beaming!
Always down for more SMP300 content
Bought mine this week, black dial on a bracelet, although the Mrs won't let me have it until January as it's for my 40th, had to buy it now because Omega boutique told me price is going up this month! Got a tidy discount too by getting them to price match another retailer so paid about £4,800, I'm well happy with that, just need to wait now lol.
@@SIZZO76 thank you very much, can't wait to be able to wear it!
@@happydogg312lol I would but there’s no way my 6.25” wrists could rock that. I’ve heard great things about the proprietary steel used on the watch.

Exactly. Just like the cyclops on Rolex watches and the crown guards of Panerai watches. I don’t understand why people keep complaining about the HEV.
@@LanguagesWithAndrew well what way do you want? This is a man’s watch so it is probably too rough for a woman taste
I agree with you on the bracelet. That's why I bought mine with the rubber strap.
The Helium escape valve has always been a bit of a problem few of us divers will get to use it for it’s intended purpose. That being said it’s still good to have it ,it’s part of its DNA now. Up side is it’s less obtrusive now that they’ve made it conical in shape .as for the bracelet yes they could do better on many levels a slight tapering would help ,but from a production point of view more work more expensive.
gringa - I hope there is no pain , hope everything heals quickly for you . nice review. ~ JDS/CT
Love this video. The SMP was my first “proper” watch and if you twisted my arm would probably be my only if I had to choose. One point on the helium escape valve; love it or loathe it at least it gives us watch geeks something to lecture unsuspecting muggles on at dinner parties!
Good review. The bracelet does let this watch down, agreed. It looks so much better on the original rubber strap.
In short, the grip isn’t good, and the ratchet is a little sloppy and doesn’t feel as crisp as others available.
Oh Britt!
You consistently produce great content. And you just did it again. Thank you 🙏

WHAAAT! This has OFFICIALLY MADE MY DAY! Thank you so much for these kind words!
Won't be long I'm Gonna get my hands on the brosnan era seamaster and The newer seamaster. Great video to help with my decision.
It's a beautiful watch! I'm considering the chrome version, but it doesn't seem to be much in favor. Any opinions about why?
This year I bought one, I got the green one and I got to this conclusions:
- The bezel is nice and it’s not that hard to use as people say ( even in the wet ).
My speedmaster 3861 looks bigger and thicker on paper than my 16610 sub ...but if you put the 2 side by side or wear them ...the sub definitely looks much chunkier.
you're one the best watch youtubers in the world keep going
I have the white dial on the black rubber, I placed it on a green strap from Zealande to switch it up and I like it.
Yup. However i wear mine on a rubber strap. I think the bracelet is too heavy and chunky. But the watch is tremendous
I feel u on the bracelet. The 2254 is my fav so far
Britt, I am rather surprised that you reviewed a dive watch AND live on an island, without taking it into the ocean! I own the 300M and absolutely love wearing it!

It's not a true Seamaster video without mentioning a Submariner. 😅
I feel one of the unsung pros of the Seamaster is the on-the-fly adjustment.
I just got the 2201.50 a few weeks ago. It’s perfect to me. I’d get an updated one if it had the same proportions.
@fj7509
It is even more simple. You can get yourself a VSF replica for 500$ and be happy. Had both original and replica, difference is neglectable
@@АлександрАлександрович-т8ж6й That's like asking someone why they own a real trading card over a fake one, or owning a feal fragrance over a clone.
I’ve been enjoying my Seamaster since 2006. Had to replace the bracelet a few years back but apart from that still happy with the watch.
I owned this watch for almost 4 years but black on black rubber strap. It was incredible! I moved it to get extra cash for the Polar Explorer II, but I wish I could've kept it.
So buy another one?
Apparently it wasn't "incredible" enough if you gave it up to get an explorer II 🤣
@@SirMopy It's a common complaint.
Great video! That Omega Seamaster blue 42m is stunning 😮😍
I want to see Omega make a skeleton dial SMP, I think seeing the movement would pair really well the tool watch aesthetic of the case and bracelet.
My likes:
Unique and interesting design.
Exceptional quality and timekeeping.
Dislikes:
Bezel hard to turn with wet or sweaty fingers (form over function).
The bright backgrounds are very "You're Terrific" 🤔quality video as always.
Edit: Just realised you are in Bristol, maybe see you around sometime
🤣 I feel like I learned bright backgrounds at such an unfortunate time! I took a product photography course (mostly for shoe photography! Gagaga!) and they taught me to use bright backgrounds! Unfortunately it is so associated with Evan in the watch space! But man, his shots and use of space is AMAZING! 💕💕✨
You nailed it with the bezel I took mine back thinking it was faulty.
You need a good grip just to turn it. Good watch though.
I love mine and I love the helium escape valve. No mistaking it's an Omega. I actually don't mind the bracelet but know what you are saying.
Did you ever have it serviced? Gaskets will break down over time on any dive watch and all movements need it to remain accurate…
Disagree with the lugs, agree with the bracelet. I'll still go with your first preference on the 2254.50 but it's difficult to get one in Singapore.
I really dislike the James Bond connections. I try to appreciate this watch on its own merrits. Fortunately, its an amazing wrist watch.
Great video, Brittany, thank you. Another channel photoshopped changes to smp300m: took out he valve, tapered bracelet, changed 12:00 marker... it all SOUNDED good, but then seeing it, well, it looked too Rolex Subby, to me, anyway.
The black is my go too! Pretty much does everything in it. Gym, swim, work etc
Amazing review, just bought the seaweed green and everything you say is spot on.
The skeleton hands look great. Anything else will look goofy as fuck.
Bahahaha. ITS ALL ABOUT THE SWORD HANDS!!! And the 2254 HE escape valve is exactly how it should be! It’s like a tooth paste cap on the modern version! 😅
I was thinking about doing pre ceramic vs ceramic SMP video! ….. I think we all know which I prefer tho! 😅
@@AdhamHossam165 I feel like it's a bit counter-productive on something claiming to be a tool watch, though. I feel like if you're actually using it for diving you want maximized legibility.
As a James Bond acolyte I am extremely jealous! But kudos to you on an iconic acquisition!
Agree with ever point you’ve made. Especially how thick the bracelet is.
