You’ve shown me a new way of using my poison swing tail mold with this chatterbait option! Thank you! The poison tail jig mold is another great option to make chatterbaits as well, just use the WEY375 wire form for the eye when pouring the 3/8oz jig because the WEY575 is too big (I tried after watching another TH-cam tutorial that suggested using the WEY575 when it should’ve suggested WEY375) and look into getting 1/8” Teflon pins for this jig mold. It has a useful bait keeper too. I’m a huge fan of Owner hooks as well! Can’t wait to try this setup out
Thanks Richard! Yes, it’s really easy and I like being able to customize all of the components, plus not having to pay $16 for a jackhammer is nice too :-)
You can use a smaller heat shrink as a bait keeper. I’ve cut them diagonal on one end and used super glue and then heating it in place on the hook. The diagonal end will stick out and harden and make a nice point to hold your trailer.
I have that mold but I’m definitely going to make chatter baits with it now normally I make chatter baits with the arche head mold that’s true they are flying off the shelves I went to the store to try to get a couple today and they were all sold out awesome video Ben
Excellent video! If you have any influence with Do-It, lobby them to produce a bladed jig head mold incorporating the Arky shape, eye recesses, a collar with barb or wire inserts, and the 525 open eye. Keep up the good work.
Struggling to add the snap, especially without sticking myself with the hook. Seems like it needs to be added before the jig is attached to the blade. How to add or swap out an existing snap?
If you want a bait keeper on it, you could just tie one on the hook shaft before you add the skirt. I’ve seen Smalljaw and SDG do something similar. Super glue will hold it until you get the thread wrapped and super glue the thread to finish.
Nice! I liked the way you described the water conditions (off-colored) & seasons (pre-spawn to spawn) i.e. best times to use the ultra-bright Fire Craw bladed jig. What is the clearest (visibility/ ft.) water you'd still consider using it?
For me Id be comfortable anytime the water is dirtier than “normal” clarity. In my head, fish act on a scale relative to their normal water conditions, so if my lake looks dirtier than normal, I’ll try it
So idk if you said something about it but the "swinging" part of that mold means it's supposed to swing. And the wire form is an stw 130 and 155. And you have a "swinging" hook. It allows for trailers and such because you can use ewg hooks.
Yes when used normally, that’s correct. I used it with the open eye wire form so I could make a chatterbait. Making a swing head poison tail is the purpose of this mold though which turns out awesome too
Hey man, great video really enjoyed it, I see those purple/black jigs on the bench, really dig the eyes on them, are they from do it? Anyways great vids man keep up the good work
It won’t work with an EWG, but yes you definitely could use the heat shrink to make a baitkeeper afterwards. I have ended up tying on bait keepers with a fluorocarbon keeper system
Love it! Good stuff, Michigan.--Cuda
Thanks dude! I appreciate the heat shrink tip 🙌🏻

Moved from MI to FL and need to start making those!
Very cool. That is definitely a nice job on the jig.
Thanks Will! I appreciate it man
This video is fire 🔥LOL thx Ben!
Very cool video and lure. You're a good teacher. Thanks.
Thank you Robert
Very very fine bait👍👍
Thank you!
Awesome! Love your lure building videos! Keep them coming. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Bryan
Will that wire ring on the jig head bend on a big fish?
Put your Red Wings street sign back up!!!!!
Matt do you have a video showing how you add the snap on the blade.
Great information! Love your lure building videos! Have you thought of using the Do-it Hybrid Grass Jig?
Keep them coming. Thanks.
I was living under a rock! 😂😂😂 Another great video Buddy!! Can’t wait to make some of these beautiful jigs!!
You need to! That firecraw is great in dirty water :-)
Great video love the channel
Thanks Jose! I appreciate it man
Really cool Ben. Looks as good if not better then the ones on the market . And you made it look pretty easy.
Thanks Richard! Yes, it’s really easy and I like being able to customize all of the components, plus not having to pay $16 for a jackhammer is nice too :-)
Awesome video please post more !!
Thank you Todd! I appreciate it man
@The Bait Making Channel no problem my retirement plan is to make my own baits and possibly sell them at the local bait shop or just to occupy my time
Very good video.
Thank you!

You can also use the standard Poison Tail mold

It’s a really good chatterbait mold. Give it a shot, I think you’ll like it!
Can you make a video on modifying the mold to accept the bait keeper?
Excellent video! If you have any influence with Do-It, lobby them to produce a bladed jig head mold incorporating the Arky shape, eye recesses, a collar with barb or wire inserts, and the 525 open eye. Keep up the good work.
That’s very similar to how I use the sparkie head to make my bladed jigs. Also you could do that with their current Arkie head molds
Struggling to add the snap, especially without sticking myself with the hook. Seems like it needs to be added before the jig is attached to the blade. How to add or swap out an existing snap?

Good looking bait. What size duo lock snap are you using? Thanks

@@BaitMakingChannel oh, I thought you be making a swing tail chatterbait out of it cause those kill them. My bad
@@DocMcStuffIt44 that’d be sneaky! I’ll have to try that, that’d be awesome

Hey - thank you! I actually believe I got them from LurePartsOnline. Do-It doesn't currently carry the 3D full color eyes like that
Buddy I can't find anyplace to get the blades, any help ? Thanks
I bought mine off of AliExpress. You want the Large size
Thanks I'll look at that tonight
Does, or could, this mold work with an EWG hook?
Also, you can use the heat shrink tubing to make a bait keeper.

Thank you! Great video! Can you share a link to where you buy the blades? And size too? 👍🏼😁
I use eBay or AliExpress. The blade height needs to be 29mm and width at max point is 22mm.
Here are some from Amazon amzn.to/3IrVH9Q
Take my money..!!! 😂
😂 right!
Do you sell these fire craw jigs
I don’t right now but have been considering it
Have you encountered a talk from Zman Love the content
No I haven’t. I’m not selling them though I’m just making my own at home
Ben check out Smalljaw on here he posted a video today he uses a smaller diameter hook to be able to add a wire form/baitkeeper
Awesome video I need to bite the bullet an buy a lead pot already
They definitely make it easier than a Hot Pot
Bait keepers….you can use heavy mono and hand tie it lower on hook
Yes, great suggestion, that’s exactly what I ended up doing and it works great
