Welcome to The Bait Making Channel
มุมมอง 9564 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome to my NEW Channel - The Bait Making Channel! This is a channel dedicated to making lures and baits for bass fishing. Jig heads to soft plastic lures and everything in between, we'll explore the entire bait making process and have fun doing so!
How do you connect the blade to an existing closed eye jig?
The only way would be to use a split ring. If it’s a vertical eye jig, you need two split rings
I'm having signifigant problems with keeping BOTH wireforms in position to make a clean pour. The eye wireform is falling into the Sparky Jig body cavity and the bait keeper is not staying in place. PLEASE do you have any suggestions. I'm using Spinnerbait hooks in the 2/0 thru 6/0 size. Thanks for any response !!
All good stuff👍🏻🎣 Any thoughts on a “non chip paint” for the jig heads???
Most of the powder paint holds up pretty incredibly well, but when you bang it off a dock or on the rocks and lead dents it’ll eventually come off
One tip I might add is use a knife to clear the excess powder paint on the hook tie. When you use pliers you can mar the hook tie and you can get line breakage at the knot. Great video!!
Dude you are an excellent teacher. Thanks! New sub.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that
Great color combo!!! Good luck on your trip!!! I wouldn't mind wrestling with an 11 lb Smallie!!! Thanks for sharing, great content.
Hey Benjamin I would like to know where you get your Lead, and what grade or make.
Hey - I buy 99% soft lead ingots from eBay. Last I checked it was ~$3-4 per lb
Not bad content! Keep it up!
Thanks!
I really want to start making my own soft plastics and jigs . I spend way too much money losing lures to trees and stumps. This was really good
Thank you so much!
Nice. Do you have a video tying a “hair” jig?
Good tutorial. Nice finished product!
Dude you are an excellent teacher. I do not say that lightly or often. Good job.
I really appreciate that
Hey if ur from Michigan can I get ur email
I wanna ask some more questions on the buzzbaits
And chatterbaits

I guess I don't see the need to use a lead head jig when making marabou lures. A simple marabou streamer, minus a lead jig head, can be rigged as a pseudo wobble head, Tokyo rig, a power shot or drop shot and so on. You control the position in the water column by the length of the leader to the weight. Also, this allows you to easily fish the weight you need to , for the rod and reel you already have. Practically endless variations are easily rigged .. plus the marabou streamer can be fished in a normal horizontal presentation, rather than the yoyo movements forced by the jig head.
do you have the video where you modified your mold to fit the wire bait keeper?
You’ve shown me a new way of using my poison swing tail mold with this chatterbait option! Thank you! The poison tail jig mold is another great option to make chatterbaits as well, just use the WEY375 wire form for the eye when pouring the 3/8oz jig because the WEY575 is too big (I tried after watching another TH-cam tutorial that suggested using the WEY575 when it should’ve suggested WEY375) and look into getting 1/8” Teflon pins for this jig mold. It has a useful bait keeper too. I’m a huge fan of Owner hooks as well! Can’t wait to try this setup out
Which mold do you prefer the most? Cnc or sand cast and which one shoots the best?
Ben check out Smalljaw on here he posted a video today he uses a smaller diameter hook to be able to add a wire form/baitkeeper
Moved from MI to FL and need to start making those!
Put your Red Wings street sign back up!!!!!
Been wanting to get into doing this and pouring my own soft plastics, too. Seeing that street sign in the background convinced me to follow ya. My Brother's a guide up there and I sure miss that GL fish'n.
My Brother pours his own walleye jigs and is tearing up the slaunch hawgs. He's a great guide.
Just 2 cents worth... when you poured your colors into the duel cylinders, the plastic was just not hot enough. It had lumps and should have been far more liquid in viscosity. It is no wonder that you could not get all the molds filled before the plastic cooled. Just curious, what temperature do you seek before pouring?
At $5,how much does all the other equipment cost,LOL.
If you don’t have the equipment it’s definitely an investment! I actually did a video breaking this down on my other channel: th-cam.com/video/YBaQoVveCN0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NBPrPLECrsRJy5gZ
Have you encountered a talk from Zman Love the content
No I haven’t. I’m not selling them though I’m just making my own at home
Hell yes it’s time
Looks awesome, good looking color combo! Thanks for taking the time to make the video and sharing the process!
Have fun on your Dale Hollow trip 😎👍
Thanks! I actually recorded this last year before my Dale trip. No trips for me this year 😂 I just stink at consistently editing content sometimes
You look familiar! 😂Love your fishing and bait making. Keep it up brother. Hope your channels explode
Haha thank you man. If I had even moderate consistency on here, it’d be interesting to see what we could achieve 😂
re: Wetting the marabou by licking your fingers. Bad idea. Use a damp cloth to wet your fingers. You don't want to find out what could happen.
What could happen?
@@BaitMakingChannel Diseases, the two major ones are psittacosis, and histoplasmosis. Psittacosis is a bacterial infection transmitted by inhalation of dust from the bird's feces or feathers. Histoplasmosis is a fungus that grows on bird feces, and transmitted in the same way.
That looks like a lot of screwing around for a couple of jigs.
LGRW !!!!
What size blade is that you use small med or large.
It’s the Large size from Ali Express
Very good video.
Thank you!
Hey seen you on MBRF! Dubb 11's deep cranking . Nice jig touches👌🤔
Good looking jig right there and good video. Glad you gave smalljaw some credit. He's a gem for tying lessons for sure.
Sooo. I just got into doing crappie jigs. Want to do some of these for smallmouth. Marabou vs bucktail (synthetic as well). Would they flow the same? Easier for me to get bucktail and synthetic. Instead of marabou.
make more videos .....PLEASE!!!!
I think they did come out with a 4 cavity icraw, awesome video!
Great information! Love your lure building videos! Have you thought of using the Do-it Hybrid Grass Jig? Keep them coming. Thanks.
It's getting cold guess its time to knock the dust off the molds soon
Where can I buy a worm mold? Please give us a link
What kind of worm mold are you looking for? Tons of cool worm molds on the Do Itt site. Search for the worm molds here: bit.ly/DoItMoldsBRN
Awesome mold, I bought 2 so I could shoot 8 at a time. They cost less than a single 3 cavity CNC mold Those I-craws work great on a ned rig, smallies love them.
Can't close my jigs eye without leaving a mark from my pliers after powder coating
I'm having a significant problem after about pouring and power coating about 35 heads. The extra lead under the eye was cleaned with an Ignition Point File. The problem is that after placing the blade on the eye I'm now not able to close the eye far enough to PREVENT the blade from slipping out of the space between the eye wire and the jig body. I tried to close the eye with pliers and that caused the powder coat to show marks from the pliers. I then tried using a small hammer and placing the jig on a wooden table and the eye still is open. I'm quite frustrated and don't know how to close the eye. Any help would be appreciated.
I would like to know how Z Man got the vertical open eye jigs removed from the market place after they came out with the chatter bait.
Nice video, what do you recommend on the oven temp and for how long do they need to be in there?
Thanks for the video just wondering where can I buy the open loop to put on the front of the jig head please
What vise are you using
I like the wire trailer keepers. How do you modify the mold to accept them.
