You've got me wanting to experiment with making some crazy hybrid bladed jigs for the saltwater. I want to combine bucktail jigs with blades and swinging EWG hooks for a more weedless presentation.
When I’m on my kayak I use a paddle holder on the opposite side of the kayak as my paddle and angle it to where the net is just in front of the pedals and the handle is in the holder on my left side. And fantastic baits as always 👌
That’s a beautiful place there. Awesome build and some super nice fish Adam. Thanks for making such great videos that are so easy to follow along and learn. Glad the truck is fixed and you still have both arm and legs. Vehicles can be expensive to fix
Thanks John! Yeah, the truck repair put a hurtin' on the wallet, but I'm glad its done and its better than ever. Thanks again for your continued support!
Awesome video Adam!!! Really dig the color scheme on the jig and trailer. You hit it out of the ball park!!! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to do all you do!!!! Thanks!!!!!
Here's a couple of tips. When your painting blades, use a heat gun and hold the blade with needle nose at the attachment hole and only hold it above the heat gun only 1 second per side. You just want the blade to be barely hot.....just enough a light coat of paint will stick to the blade. It will have a Matt finish before you bake but will smooth out in the oven with no dripping. When I use the holographic stickers on the chatterbait blades or on the body of blade baits (like the silver buddy), I dip them in a cheap automotive one part clear. It will seal the sticker to the metal. You can get a quart of the dupli color clear at most automotive stores. A quart will do thousands of baits. I sell several hundred of the silver buddy knock offs (Do-It mold) to a local bait store every winter. No one has ever complained about the sticker coming off.
Adam, beautiful looking bait. As great as it looks in the video, I bet it’s even better in person. Love the bladed jig/shadderbait combination. Watching you catch was fun but nothing tops your instruction and demonstration of the finer points of net handling

What would you suggest a noobie to buy to get started? If you've already answered this, please guide me to find your response. Thanks!
Welcome to the community! Where to get started depends on lot on what you want to build and how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go! Lead molds, lead pots, hook options, powder paints, vise to tie vs rubber bands, skirt material options... then there's the soft plastic side with molds, microwaves, pigments, flakes - its a crazy world to jump into but a very rewarding one!
Great build as usual love the colors. Got a question if you don't mind what size split ring did you use. Have a great day and God bless you and yours Phagin
So good! Loved the entire video! Been tying up a few jigs on shakey heads. Not to your caliber, but good practice. I'm glad you don't edit out the bloopers. Glad you enjoyed it, and I do appreciate the love! I’ve been cooking up some bladed jig/swim jig box set ideas lately… perhaps one of those may work for ya! Thx again man!
Interesting question. You could try, but you'd need to experiment with temperature. Reason being, the durometer is very different between the two (sinking being thicker most likely) so they won't flow into the mold at the same rate. To even them out you'd likely need to shoot the floating blend cooler (to "thicken" it) than the sinking. That's all a guess though!
@@SDGCustomLurecraft well I haven’t started pouring yet I make wood and epoxy lures and paint blanks Just getting into plastics and I was ballasting a lure while watching you and few others when the thought came to me cause in my mind if you could do one of the shad or the other new mold if you get weightless ballast right and side rig like a texas I think it would slay

Good looking chatter donkey. I need that in a bit smaller presentation most days . Don’t get out in deeper water as much as I’d like. But I’d say a 3 inch version would slam on the river no problem. It that this size wouldn’t slam as well.

I see a problem with the hook angle on this lure, it could possibly be the reason for a few missed fish. Of course the ones that engulf it will get the hook and stay pinned but I would tend to think more of a standard round bend would have a better hookup. My humble opinion. That aside this was a fun one, thanks for sharing this lure build!
Appreciate the feedback, thanks! Funny you mention the hook angle, just last night I was fishing this bait again (different location) and flexed it back just enough to make the point parallel to the body... not enough to compromise the hook just less of an angle. It was a pitching jig bite last night so I didn't fish the bait as much to test it, but I liked the look better and its sure to improve the hookup ratio! (BTW, I like the ewg style when using this trailer due to its taller profile - a more classic round bend doesn't provide as much bite). Thanks again for the comments and for watching!
