i’ve used both. S1 for first baby, just got the spectra SG portable for this baby. loved the S1, so far SG is not giving me the same output. I didn’t realize it doesn’t have the spectra vibration and no options to change cycle speeds, or I don’t think I would have gotten it. The reason I did get it was I thought it was just an updated more compact spectra, but so far it’s not pumping me as well as the S1. It is lighter though, which was a positive when shopping (lugging the S1 around work was annoying.). If I did it over I would stick with the S1.
Can I ask, what is the importance of cycle changing? I am new to all of this, sorry for the question. If a baby is sleeping on breast and there is low m. flow , what do you recommend?
I've never pumped before (first baby in the oven), so its hard to choose without trying if I prefer a pump with two motors, or a pump that I can adjust the cycle. How to decide? 😢
I would say it’s better to have setting adjustments. Dual motors is rarely a true necessity! If you want more help with figuring everything out, let me know. That’s what I do! I’d be happy to help you choose a pump as well, we do that often inside the program.
I wish I would have done more research before I bought my S9 and my compact gold because I hate both of them. I ended up EPing for 10 months and after spending a few thousand dollars on pumps, I ended up buying a Medela Symphony and I used that as my primary pump for the last 5 months of my pumping journey. I never found anything “portable” that had the cycle speeds and suction that I needed. I had started with a Spectra S1 and I really do think it is a great pump. For me, the Symphony was just more comfortable in the long run.
I like a compact size for easy transport to and from work and want something that doesn’t have to be plugged into the wall. I’ve never used the spectra 1, but I’m curious if you have better milk output with a pump that has changeable cycle speeds. I’m new to breastfeeding + pumping, so I have no idea.
It’s pretty limited on the setting options for you. The stimulation mode is quite fast which it is nice! But the expression mode is very slow, and those are your only options. Did a 1st mom I hesitate if you’ll be pumping a lot. Do you plan to pump often or just occasionally?
I’ve only ever used my Willow Go and I loved it because it would automatically switch from pumping to stimulation, but towards the end I kept getting clogs. Now I’m looking for more power. I’m new to the Spectra world. Do spectra pumps do this automatic switch between modes?
Legendairy milk has the duette, and Idaho Jones has the twain now. What are the differences between these and the dual compact? Is it the suction level and cycle speed? The duette and the twain are similar prices and the interface looks the same but I'd like to know if these are good compact options versus the SG Compact
Hello! Is the Synergy Gold Portable more quiet than the S2? I'm looking for a quiet portable pump for work. If you have a suggestion I'd love to hear it! Thank you
Bought the spectra dual compact after watching one of your initial videos, I didn’t know anything about the settings and changing the speed at the time (new to pumping). I love that it’s portable. Now that I’m back to work I’d like it to go faster, but does that effect output? I do agree I can get a second let down on massage mode though. It takes almost 30 minutes to fully empty unfortunately.
I am using the dual compact and wondering if I should get S1+ given it is “hospital grade”? However, I am not sure which gives better output. If dual compact can provide similar yield as S1+ then I don’t see a need to purchase S1+
First time mom at almost 6 months, and I can't decide between these two. Initially I thought I'd like the SG (all cos of aesthetics haha like I wouldn't mind just having that out on a table cos it looks so chique) but the fact that it has to be plugged in turned me off :( I definitely like the range of options on the S1, but my only concern is its size and look haha. I like the portable's size-- storing this would be soo much easier but reading through the comments, it seems like the S1's adjustments and options are more worth having especially as a first time pumper. I'll most likely be working from home during the months that I'll be breastfeeding/pumping, so I guess the S1's size shouldn't be that much of problem aside from the fact that the overall look just bugs me XD Does the portable one have a night light as well? I'd love your opinion on which to go with :D thanks for these vids! Super helpful.
Is it as strong as medela? I’ve used medela with both my kids and would like a strong pump like medela that’ll empty your breast for work but I prefer quieter device.
I am 4 weeks pp FTM and need a break once a day, I want my partner to be able to give a bottle at night, so only plan to pump once a day. Would you recommend S1 or dual compact?
We asked the nurse, if there's a difference between the natural breast milk and donated milk. She said "I don't know, because I never tried." Then we all laugh. 😅😂 😂 😂
The S1 does have a battery, so you can move it around, but it is bulky I know. This usually isn’t a problem unless you’re moving around a lot, then a wearable may be an option, jut comes with its own problems. The spectra gold portable has limitations that can be tricky, so for a new pumper the s1 is your best bet for getting started!
@@NewLittleLifeI don't plan to exclusively pump. If all goes ok with breastfeeding I won't start pumping till 4-6 weeks post partum. Are the preset cycle speeds on the spectra dual compact sufficient for a decent output or do you find most people need more customisation?
As a soon-to-be first time mom that has never pumped before, would you recommend the Unimom Opera over these? Or would you say the Spectra 1 or Spectra Dual Compact are a better choice? All three are a similar upcharge with insurance and since I haven't pumped yet I don't know what features I'm looking for. So hard to choose as a total beginner!

your comment is my literal dilemma. Thanks to you I'm going back to S1

Can you compare the Elvie stride and Medela freestyle hands free

what are your thoughts as an option if one would be used at home and the other used for on the go like when i go back to work?

Can you give me a hint where to find the Medela reasearch that you mention? I know about that one on double pumping. Is there more? Thank you!
Which one do you recommend for someone that produce only 1-2oz per pump? 🤔

I caught that the gold portable doesnt have the vibration. Does the synergy gold have the vibration?
You keep saying “dual compact” on your videos, but I cannot find a “dual compact” anywhere. Do you mean the “SG Portable?” Or is that a new pump?
The name has changed a bit and is different in different countries, but yes this is the same pump 👍🏼

Spectra 1!
