  • A huge thank you to Troy for bringing his brand new Nissan Ariya over 1000 miles to Northern Colorado from Wisconsin. With many competitors in the crossover EV market, how does build quality stand up to it's rivals. This is a long video, so there are chapters to move to the most important information to you.

    The venture+ model was designed to have the longest range possible. It has the biggest battery. But it is devoid of many of these features in order to make the vehicle as light as possible to have the longest range. You would need to move into a Evolve+ to keep the big battery and gain some of the features you mentioned that are stripped away from the Venture+

    Canada here - Ariya wasn't even on our list (was considering Tesla Model Y or GM Blazer EV) but we happened by a dealer with an Evolve e-force AWD, all black, and $4k off MSRP. Well one test drive and we were sold! Sleek sick look (looks way better in person), 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds, higher ride and lots of space, nice interior and sunroof and we are happy!!!! Even the our kids and others in early 20s loving the look. Glad to see the build quality good. And we have higher level model so the interior is nicer, with power seats, leatherette, etc.

    I have had my Premiere FWD trim model for 3 weeks now. ($54k MSRP and Premiere was only offered to reservationist and not available anymore, top FWD trim is now called Empower). The Premiere level trim is much more impressive than the Venture Trim which is the base model for large battery option. I also got in the Aurora Green (Northern Lights) higher level paint (freaking amazing color with color change effect under different light and angle as light reflects off surface). Too bad what was reviewed was the base version ( review of higher trim would have been better). That being said, very happy to see this review and generally good review overall. I love the build quality of my car but this review did point out some details (gaps and more separate pieces than needed on exterior that I did not notice before and could be tighter build quality/design). The higher trim is much more premium on interior than the Venture trim. Been bugging Out of Spec to review Nissan Ariya for weeks. Very impressive vehicle for price, unfortunately this vehicle fell off radar in US due to much delayed roll-out in US. Hoping Kyle does review soon. Waited exactly 1-year to get mine and worth the wait. Live in Orange County CA in the land of Model 3 and Y and my Ariya is turning heads and stands out from the flood of 3’s and Y’s where I live. Thanks for this review Coleton, much appreciated.

    I actually want the door handle to be like this, I dont want these electric driven handles, but they could do handles like those I had on my Subaru XT Turbo back in the days, those were fantastic actually. This looks like the chepest version of this car. There is a huge difference in seat material when you go one trim level up.

    This thing doesn’t look too bad .That bumper is definitely meant to but up to the front fenders as it probably clips or bolts to the fender. Very common theme throughout many Nissans.

  • @64jcl
    @64jcl 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    A lot of people prefer the plain door handles of the Ariya over the hidden flush ones that require you to push with your thumb or something to actully grab hold of it. Keep it simple and stupid is a good design choice even if it's very common. The dash flat buttons look nice, but many feel they are not very good to use as you need to look at them in order to use them. Real physical buttons are always more intutive and safe. They should at least have had some kind of dent or mark you could feel with your fingers so you could learn to use them while not looking. This is the main complaint against Teslas as almost everything is done on the touch screen, taking your focus away from the road. Manual adjustment seats are always way faster to adjust than the motorized ones, and is one less thing that can break.

    Test-drove one today. The first couple things that I noticed… the middle console is big, but has practically no storage. And the pop-out secret 2nd glove-compartment that pops out via button on the middle console (extends out via little electric motor vs. the main glove-box in the car just to the right of it (in-front of the passenger)) needs the button held down to come out. Wish you could touch the button and release it, to open/close it. But everything else seems good.

    Colten, the ID4 has a little hook at the base of the charge port door for the plug to rest… similar to many gas caps/doors. It is a bit of a pain to clip on tho, and I do much prefer this design

  • @StubbyStan28

    Great video, Coltin & huge s/o to Troy! A couple of things about this Ariya; this trim is the base model for the bigger (91 Kwh) battery. Up the line you can get leatherette seats (or Nappa leather) & power seats for both front occupants. Also, a powered middle console as well as a powered middle storage area. Regarding the charge port location: This allows for street parking charging and also is in the perfect location to utilize Tesla Superchargers as it would be in the right location pulling in that Teslas would be backing in.
    On a personal note, it's great to see this particular colorway being reviewed as it's the color of my Platinum Ariya order. LMK if you're interested in seeing the top spec of this vehicle.

      re: "This allows for street parking charging..." good observation, though we don't have much of it here in the States this means it's been set up for Europe (ie, Germany, UK, etc.) along with being "future proofed" for 'Murica.

      Different trim.. this one has a basic interior with the big battery for lightest weight and max range. You can choose from some different trims..
      Personally I have no use for power seats.. I set mine once.. and never move it again.. Why do I need a power seat? It's just more stuff to break.
      Same with leather seats, they are hot, sticky.. YUCK, .no thanks.
      Try those leather seats when its 110F / 43.4C outside... and the inside of the car is 150F/56.6C or more, or when its really cold.. that will shock you in the morning too. LOLZ

I have found out at the Chicago Auto Show that Nissan (Aria and all other models even the ones equipped with BOSE sound system) removed HD radio application from their radio tuners and bundled this PUBLIC UTILITY into their premium MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION! Ariya out the door price $52,500 including Mississippi State tax. Sticker claimed only 284 mile range. My 2023 Leaf Plus loaded and added "Market Adjustment" was $1,950, making its total cost $42,000. That included tax and $850 for two tone paint. I have driven the Leaf 2,656 miles and believe its range to be actually about 230 miles. I had to get a new female connector in my garage and that was an extra $250. Don't think Ariya is going to sell well because of the low range for the price. The car I looked at was not for sale. The company would only take orders. This took place two weeks ago.

  • @kens97sto171
    @kens97sto171 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Car looks great like the design a lot. And the interior too... Those cheaper hard plastics will wear well, the manual and cloth seats look good to me.. Leather sucks.. They are hot and sticky in the summer and cold as hell in the winter.
    Have no need for power seats... I set mine and never move them again.
    Not that hard to adjust a manual seat.. takes 2 seconds.
    I do think this is a bit pricey for the trim..

    Not loving the cheapness and missing features of this base trim, other cars base trims much better. Love it when people actually get to see someone overview a base trim!
    That being said the next trim level up has a ton more it seems like and is more competitive where it's at.

      I agree. However I decided to test drive one for fun one weekend and I was really impressed with the ride and the finish in the car. I also really liked the space and layout. When watching other review videos, Nissan made a very strange move in that the cheapest model, “Engage’ has more features than higher level trims: heated leatherette seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, HUD, power driver seat, power lift gate, etc.
    This mid-spec “Evolve” trim loses a lot of what is seen in the base trim, before they start adding features back. The top-spec Platinum trim has a Napa leather interior.

    Renault developed traction motors and electronics. With the design now 2 years old ( love the platform that everyone will be copying with a small hood to the dash area so the interior is larger) and Renault losing its plant to Russia during the war -Nissan now sits at the head of the table with Renault still there and Mitsubishi still the 3rd member. Im walking away as Nissan will take this platform and cut more of Renault's costs.
