  • Just a short video first time shooting my new wrangler.
    First impressions, I love it. Handles great, very accurate, and no issues with the 50 or so rounds I ran through it. I look forward to a lot more range time with it!

    I run at tactical ammo and Remington ammo through mine. The Winchester white box is hit all day miss interns of being able to properly seat in the cylinder. I’ve been pleased with mine. It’s a good shooter.

    Love the sound of pulling back the hammer, almost as satisfying as a shotgun loading: essentially, you mean business - talk is over you are not listening, and you made a horrible mistake.

    Nice revolver. I bought a used Ruger KNR-5 in 2002 for $225. It only had the mag cylinder so I sent it to Ruger and total cost for adding an LR cylinder and shipping one way (they shipped it back free) was $80. My favorite rimfire revolver. It's not some bogus toy but a real "hefty" gun. Trigger pull is light and the 5.5" barrel and adjustable target sights are quite accurate with LR and magnum ammo.

    Just got a Wrangler to compliment my .45 Single Action. Much, much cheaper to “feed” and fires everything I have put in it. Great fun for plinking and reasonably accurate for what it is / the price (about a quarter of what my .45 was to buy). Not an Olympic ISSF contender but awesome fun to shoot. The only beef I have after about 300 rounds, is the effort needed to cock the hammer (about twice the force my .45 requires to cock) but that is something that should “wear-in” over time without replacing springs etc.

    I have both the Wrangler was $169 and $189 for the HRR they both shoot very damn good and I won’t ever get rid of either one my 10 year old son likes to shoot the HRR and I shoot my Ruger he likes to load and unload his rough rider because it’s so much easier than the Wrangler I highly recommend both if you can find them because they are really affordable

      I can’t buy a Rough Rider, not compliant in my state I probably would have. I like the steel frame, but the Wrangler is good for the price, and plenty hood enough quality for a .22LR

All I've got nerve to shoot lately is 22. Hope this changes soon. As much fun as 22 is it still isn't the same.

    Mine was accurate out to 100 yards, as was my Rough Rider (videos posted). I found that the Ruger is better built, but I enjoyed running the Rider more, so I kept the Rider. Well actually now I have a new birds head Rider that I still need to post a video of, but I kept the Rider. However, I have owned 3 Heritage Rough Riders now, and only one of them shot 100% straight; often they are off to left or right. Never heard that complaint with the Wranglers...

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Guess that’s another reason I’m glad I got the Wrangler. I can’t stand when a Guns fixed sights are off. I have a Harrington and Richardson 22 revolver, and someone messed with the sights- front one is sow low they had to take the rear sight out to be able to hit the target.
      I still like that revolver though :)

    So inherently a single action isn't ideal for self defense especially against multiple attackers However, in most self defense shootings only one shot is fired people either die after being shot once, they give up to avoid being shot again, or they just runaway with a gunshot wound. Sometimes even a missed shot is enough to scare off home invaders because you let them know you're armed and shooting at them. So I'd say if you live in a rural area or an area with a low crime rate this might be a great carry gun. If you live in a city where there's crackheads and idiots who consider themselves a gang, then you need a semi auto 9mm or higher and some spare mags. Gotta pack properly for your mission. If you got a smaller statured family member a .22 as a defensive gun you should probably make sure it's at least a double action just so they don't have to fiddle with a hammer under stress. An enthusiast who shoots often should be fine carrying a single action .22 muscle memory should kick in and allow ample time for follow up shots if it's a single intruder.

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s all you got it’s fine, but they’re are better options. 22 and single action, not the most awe inspiring self defense gun.
      But I get your points.

      @@crankygunreviews for sure if I've got a gun of any caliber higher then .22 that's what I'm bringing haha this is an ideal plinker/teaching gun but there are certainly better carry guns. If you've only got $250 budgeted for a defensive gun a 9mm high point would sadly be your best bet haha
