    I just put mine one in the bin after one use. Great for a spatter effect, regardless of how little or much I diluted the paint, but useless for anything else. I used the splatter and roll technique. I suspect you need to be a pro to use of these machines - I’ll stick to the day job!! Thanks for the video, it did help - a bit.

      I Started out on fence panels as the finish wasn't critical. At first the thinning wasn't enough. I mixed about 2:1 and it started working well. After some adjustment, I was flying through em. Two coats in next to no time and very happy indeed. I'm planning to try spraying upvc window frames, gutters, soffits and then kitchen cabinet doors. That will be a proper test for the sprayer and a bigger test for me. Thanks again Phil👍Was going to buy something more expensive and I'm pretty confident this will do the job.

      @@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Hi again Phil, hope that you have been keeping well mate. Just a quick message to let you know I have successfully painted my bungalow! Including the window frames, soffits and gutters. It looks amazing on the whole but there are a few runs here and there when you look closely ;-) All with a £40 spray gun. It was a bit tricky taking the extension reel and gun at the top of the ladder (to get to the top of my apex), but once I got a method in place it wasn't too bad. I discovered it didn't work so well with masonry paint on a rough cast render, because I kept emptying the pot too quickly and it was a pain to keep filling it up. So , I used a roller for that. Wanted to say a big thank you for uploading the video and recommending this gun. The finish on the plastic looks like it's come straight from the factory!

      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds great!
      Yes. This one or the other I've tried out recently would be fine.
      Thinning paint.. depends on which paint. Inadd a little bit at a time till I feel it mix nicely and it runs off the mixing stick ... Not to thickly and not too thin!!
      Remember... These units have two spray caps... Both are quite large compared to what I'd be using with my £1k Hvlp.
      So you will be able to spray the paint thinker.
      Best try it out in some card before you do your project, so you get a feel for it and see its not leaving the spray paint finish uneven cus its too thick.
      If it's running... It's too thin... Or your too close and not moving the gun quick enough.
      Trial and error :)

    Hey, can i use varnish in these or gloss for doors and banisters etc? Quite hard to get an answer online

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Amanda. This sprayer has quite a large hole that the paint goes through. 2.0and 2.2 hole size.
      I I were to spray varnish or gloss I'd want smaller.. 1.3 or 1.5 hole size.
      I'm not saying you can't, but you may find it puts too much paint on when you turn the fan pattern to a narrower spray size... you can also turn the nob on the handle to reduce down the flow of paint.
      Were you thinking water based varnish and water based gloss?
      If so, you may find it does spray.. with a bit of practice on some cardboard before you do the actual 'doors' etc
      I've a video using this scheduled in the next week or so.. it's already edited and set to go live... using it with Barn Paint.. with is a semi gloss finish... the results are worth watching.

      Ideal world... Both.
      Depending what you want to spend.
      HVLP (I've the qt5) has a lot of control.
      My Gxff good for a few ceilings and also woodwork when needed.
      My 495st Max² FF.. does the same as the Gxff at nearly double the price... But offers a future proof set up.
      .... See my video on spraying staircase.. HVLP and Airless.
      I've. Titan 440xt as well... Mainly used for banging out larger areas... Also masonry.
      But it's not as powerful as the 495.
      Horses for courses.
      Need to work out your budget and how often you'll want to use it.

    That cissing is exactly what happened to me when using thinned Bedec MSP on an empty property where I sprayed all the woodwork using my Wagner XVLP with the Finespray cap, it was on keyed up old gloss, thickened the paint and struggled to get it through, but subsequent coats went on much better anyway, good to see it's not just me it happened to though, good you get a viscosity cup with the set, didn't get that with my Wagner, their service desk just said to thin it by about 10 to 15% 🤷‍♂️

      The more water added will ciss more, particularly on surfaces with a sheen or gloss.

I've got loads of site work coming up and I've always been tempted with the Wagner to take the strain off my old knees. It's gotta be twice as quick and half as hard as brush work and easy to clean etc so the 3500 is tempting to me. Any good and is it worth it?

      @@badlefthook624 hi mate, well to be completely honest, I've always been a brush and roller painter, but as well as a decorator I'm also a landlord, so when some tenants gave notice recently, I had a two week gap to redecorate the whole 2 bed house, I think it took us 3 weeks in the end as we had a landscape gardener traipsing through the house relaying the patio, but the wagner 3500 xvlp was a life saver, especially on the stairs and spindles, I also fixed and resprayed the kitchen carcasses white which had faded, put new b&q doors and worktops on and it was like a new kitchen. Until then, I'd had the sprayer in its box for a year, after I got it in a Brewers deal, but didn't want to practice with it on a paying customers house! I think Dulux don't recommend spraying some of their solvent paints, but I'm sure plenty of guys do, I've only used Bedec MSP through it so far and that worked well, slightly thinned, but took a bit of adjusting to get it right. Most important to familiarise yourself with taking it apart and cleaning it, flushing through etc. I would've gone full HVLP, we used those at college when I did my level 2, but I couldn't justify spending a couple of grand on a set up at my stage. For less than £500 I think the Wagner 3500 is worth it, if only as a stepping stone to the Graco types. Bit heavy if holding all day though, worth bearing in mind because the turbine is built into the handset, so that, with a litre of paint on board might make your wrists ache after a while, my only other grumble is that mine came with a euro plug on it, so that's been replaced with a uk type.

      @@ProfessionalPainterDecorator so Phil, i had some 220 grit sanding blocks from feestool lying around so to lower the grit even further I wet sanded in small circles lightly across the whole panel door (sanding just the surface of they previous coat) and then re-painted with the black tinted aqua Guard over the top and STILL I can see all the scratches under the surface caused by the 220. Makes no sense? Maybe the black is the issue :/. I’ve got some undercoat on order so maybe try that before and be scared to even sand that lightly lol

    Hi phill was just wondering about the zinessor all coat I tend to use it a lot… would I need to prime a painted composite door before using it I know it’s self priming so maybe I wouldn’t need to what’s your advice mate?

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it's already been painted painted the AllCoat will prime/under coat and finished coat it straight out the can.

    • @Shortboxing47
      @Shortboxing47 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could you still use it if something hasn’t been painted before? And go straight over or wouldn’t you risk it?

      @@Shortboxing47 most stuff I think it's fine. You need to read the main data sheet for it, I think some small print says 123 needed over uPVC first. Bruce replied to me on the scratch test video... You could also check what he thinks.. as he's the Zinsser Rep.

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you seen the bit bigger 'cheap' sprayer which is 800w?
      They will spray varnish, I'd say keep to water based. The spray cap ideally needs to be smaller than the one that comes with these sprayers, but if you turn down the paint flow on the trigger, you'll be able to reduce how much paint comes out the gun, giving you some control.
