I was in high school when I first heard that women were more often subjected to involuntary psychiatric commitment, psychiatric medication, &c. A female teacher and a small class group of (IIRC) all girls were thrashing out why that might be: women were being diagnosed by male psychiatrists, women were being referred by their husbands or male judges, women were being judged by male social standards, &c.

Ralathar44 i agree that as a species we are fairly reliant on physical appearance for many reasons. However there’s a huge difference between a comedian and a movie star. I should be able to just listen to any comedian without seeing them and still laugh my ass off, or they aren’t a very good comedian no matter how attractive. As hunky as Mr. Mamoa is i doubt anyone wants to only listen to his movies. Movie stars are definitely going to be looked at every time, so we have visual expectations, whatever they might be. But comedians are (theoretically) judged on their wit and ability to make us laugh. This is clearly true for male comedians, as many popular male comedians are not classically “handsome” but do just fine for themselves with zero commentary from the world. Women comedians are not so lucky, as no matter how funny they are people almost always talk about how attractive she is or isnt first. Its super obvious to a blind person.
@S K If you think nobody clicked on the video because she's hot you're putting way too much faith in humanity :P. There is a reason youtube changed it's algorithm away from clicks many many years ago, it's because 90% of thumbnails were clickbait attractive people because it got your more views.
I agree with her, love is a commitment to put constant effort into pursuing her as if you wanted to get her number for the first time, decades later. Doing little things that show you are thinking about her and not just yourself. It's a conscious decision to be selfless and respect the other person as an equal partner in the relationship.
