This might be hard to understand, but when this special came out I had just moved to the US, I was learning English and American culture, and back in the 80s everyone used to talk like that - I thought Americans were so sophisticated! When I saw this, I had an “aha moment”, realizing what I already knew; that this was precisely a try-hard way of sounding sophisticated. Thank you, George Carlin, for helping a young immigrant kid see through the self-important bullshit. I learned so much from this man.

That's fascinating and yet another bullshit detector successfully installed. That seems to have been his purpose. I saw him for the first time on the Tonight Show in 1968 or '69 at the babysitter's 😂

Brilliant as always! BUT: a pre - heated oven is a pre - heated oven! May be expensive modern ovens don't need that anymore. But some old ones needed some time to come up to the right high temperature and had to be pre - heated before you could put your deep freeze Pizza in there.

A lot of standup comedians name the standup that influenced them most, like, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor. But when they mention George Carlin, they always say, "Carlin was in a class by himself. And no one can even come close". he had an intellect, wit, and creative mind that was unique and stood apart.

He is the only stand-up comedian, I never get fed up watching/listening time after time and still enjoy the same as if it's my first time. Though there are many other great comedians like Gabriel Iglesias, Russell Peters, etc but George Carlin remains the king and stands out when it comes to stand-up comedy shows. Forever in our hearts, gone but not forgotten. Thank you, youtube.

Try Jeff Arcuri. He's witty and does crowd work. He doesn't reuse the same joke at every show like Russell Peters. I love Russell Peters don't get me wrong but after his success he stopped coming up with new stuff or mentions the old stuff at least once.

Don't thank YT, thank the uploader...because unless they were to censor out *every single* curse word from *every single* video no matter how soft they stand utterly no chance of ever getting monetized along with probably having their content suppressed and buried deep beneath the algorithm...YT cares nothing about their uploaders or the content unless it suits their tyrannical stipulations for political and language correctness...I'm actually surprised this channel exists at all right now.

Having worked for an airline I can safely say that we loved George Carlin. When you first go to work for an airline you are taught the words you need to use. No variations allowed. I miss him, he was the first comedian who we, in our late teens related to. I'm just grateful he had a long life and career. We actually purchased his monologues that were released on 12 inch vinyl records and listened to his comedy. We introduced George Carlin's list of words he couldn't say to our Father and we thought he'd be somewhat disapproving but he laughed more than I'd ever seen him laugh. God Bless You George!

Question: How can you tell when someone is NOT actually listening but rather trying to be a part of something just to feel you are accepted by the group?
Answer: After a paragraph of stating how much George Carlin and his words/ideas mean/meant to you..... You end your praise of an ATHIEST with "God bless you"
      Lololol
You dont even see that YOU are WHO he is mocking....
Let me take a WILD guess here....
      MAGAot?
You are riding high on voting trump in to lower your bills despite his ENTIRE CAMPAIGN listing HOW his ACTIONS WILL NOT LOWER YOUR BILLS OR COSTS....
BUT! After saying "I will lower your grocery costs" he THEN describes RAISING grocery costs....
Yes... YOU are what he is mocking...
YOU are also the only one not seeing this objective reality.

I saw Carlin in Vegas in the late 90's...always been a fan from a kid...i tell ya, i almost fell out of my theater seat laughing, and i mean near tipped over, i had aisle seat...holyshit, me and my friend who also grew up listening/watching him, were doubled over in lobby of the hotel after the show, retelling his quips...God bless you, George! Thank u for the decades of belly laughs and deep insight!❤😂
