Says a lot that after an embarrassing debut, Wemby didn't pout, or blame his teammates, or lose confidence in himself. He just shook off the night, skipped out on a party to get some rest, and absolutely dominated in the very next game. There's gonna be bumps and valleys along the way, but Wemby is mature enough to accept them as part of the process of becoming great.

When you have a plus 8 net rating, have 4 blocks, play elite defense, and lead your team to victory in your first ever game with barely any practice, AND people still say that it is embarrassing, you know you are good. It's like when Lebron or Jokic has a 20/5/5 game and people say they sucked.

Plus, summer league is not the barometer of a players career. He just need to adjust and you can also see right now that Wemby is far more mature than his age tells us. When the NBA draft lottery happened, in my opinion, there was only two ideal destinations for Wembenyama. One was Portland, the other was San Antonio. The third would have been Miami, but they weren't in the lottery. I comment on these franchises in particular, because they're the least likely to coddle a new player the way some others have in the past. Prior to the draft, Portland still had Dame, and I don't doubt his leadership and passion would have had a positive effect on Victor. For the Spurs and the Heat, you have two franchises who have a solid foundation and culture. Wembanyama will be just fine. Bigs take time to grow in the NBA.

Well its up to Victor of how great he will be he has all the tools to be one of the best to ever play this game. Looking in the new NBA era of NBA basketball with steph and Lebron being out of the league soon where is the titles going to come from. No 1 team i been impressed like oh they can run it back next year. Lakers won NBA title in 2020 got bounce in 1st round, Bucks won NBA title in 2021 got bounce in the 2nd round, Warriors won NBA title in 2022 got bounce in 2nd round, Denver won it in 2023 and the trend is looking like they will get bounce in the 2nd round. No 1 team in the last 3 years that won the NBA title the year before have not even went to at least the conference finals the next year. Right now there is no dynasties in the NBA none of these teams are good enough to not just repeat but make long playoff runs like the warriors and lebron was able to do in years past. NBA is seeking that new face of the league who can win titles after titles and out of all the NBA players in the league who is better equipt to win them other than Victor Wemembama playing on a Spurs team that been about winning.

Everyone who makes it to the NBA has amazing talent but those who can take that talent mix it with unmatched work ethic can very good but it's those who also have an unquenchable thirst for championships and a hatred of losing so great that it consumes them can truly be the greatest of their generation and if they have the luck of the right team with the right teammates they can be the greatest of all time. Is this kid next only time will tell.

The standard for "Vic Wemby" is 101pts in at least one game during his career. THAT'S IT! Reason I say that is because if anyone has seen his footage of him playing while holding his phone to film himself and his perspective at his height....he makes the NBA look and seem like those in house games with the rim on the back of the door. His perspective analogy is making major league golf look like miniature golf. The only way he brings down Jordan' legacy is if he dominates at the same time Hip Hop begins to inspire all genre of music, he changes the way his culture dresses by the masses, and he wins championships at will.....that shit is hard to type in a text box let alone do in real time. 😎

I don't understand what people see in Victor. He get's far too much praise from his failures and you people try and turn it into a positive narrative just like how the media never seems to blame LeBron James for his failures. I don't even like LeBron, but LeBron was a far better prospect than Victor ever was.

The game is a team sport. No matter how good he turns out to be he needs a competitive team built around him and a good number two. The kid needs to gain some muscle and get a feel for the league. Having Pop around is great, but how long will he be around? There are a lot of maybe's in here. Even if he does end up getting as many accolades or titles as Jordan, which I hope he does, I don't think he will be considered the greatest ever. MJ changed the sport, the league, the economics not only around basketball but on any sport. He will always be the greatest basketball player ever.

You see the high lights but he shot like 29% from three last year and the line over there is like a college line. He’s not gonna be efficient for the first three years. He could work hard and be a lot better Vic rn has a long way to go as does all rookies but the way they hype him up you’d think he’s gonna average 22 and ten. He has to work on his passing game a lot too imo he will struggle with double teams and small ball line ups he isn’t fast enough. if he plays for a great defense team he can stay in the paint but most teams gonna put him in the pick n roll and make him guard guys like steph dame fox all quick small forwards. I also think with all the hype these old heads in the league gonna wanna send him a message first few times they see him on the court.

MJ’s status will never be touched, cause, frankly, he’s been mythologized in a way no other player in no other sport has ever been. Part of it is timing. Nike, television, etc., have combined to create that image. But even if someone does pass him definitively (and imo guys like LeBron & Kareem are closer to MJ than people give them credit for), I don’t believe anyone will ever admit it.
Or at the very least it’ll take that player’s ENTIRE career before people finally admit. Cause it took, for comparison, Tom Brady winning SEVEN rings, 3 more than any other QB and 2 more than any other player in the sport’s history, to be considered the GOAT of football. Yes, cheating scandals exist, but putting those aside people still would equate Brady’s first 3 rings to Bradshaw’s 4: carried by his team.
The GOAT convo is always subjective, and for that reason I just don’t believe anyone will unanimously believe someone else is the GOAT the same way they believe MJ is

For me one thing that’s not good for Victor is that people are calling him the next G.O.A.T. The next thing for me is that Victor hasn’t played a full season yet so I don’t know how well he would do for his size. And that brings me to my last thought, he is skinny and very tall. Now I don’t want anything to happen with him with his health, but players his size doesn’t last long. Now I would like for him become one of the best but I’m not on the bus just yet
