    as someone who thoroughly believes that Vic will be an eventual top 10 player in the NBA if not better than that, I highly doubt he will be a bust (depending on your definition) simply because he has so much value in the skillset he possesses. even if he is only a 2 way shot blocker that can stretch the floor it'll be insanely valuable for any team. it truly only depends on if he is injury prone.

    Being a giant but skinny long and coordinated as someone usually a foot shorter seems to be perfect for the NBA with all the spacing and all the rules that are implemented to favor the offensive player. Even if he gets pushed around by big guys like Joel Embiid, or Nikola Jokic on defense, he's still much taller than 7 footers so shots in the paint will definitely get affected

    • @OhDuur
      @OhDuur ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the Spurs should find a tough big man like Steven Adams, a tall guy but a rough one. Firstly so that he can train against him at practice. Secondly, so that he can play PF when there's a big man match up in game like Embiid or Jokic. Wemby can be used to help blocking shots but he shouldn't be main defender of these guys (not yet)

    Some Americans, especially the ones who didn't know about Victor before he played a weak Ignite Team, need to realize: the guy he's playing against in the last clip, where there is a tiktoker making weird noises, is Charles Kahudi. Charles Kahudi's nickname is "L'homme" (The Man) because he's a beast, a super strong athlete. He posed a lot of issues to Wembanyama despite the height difference (mind you, Kahudi is about 2 meters tall, 6'6") and his age (36 years old). But Charles Kahudi played 282 games with the French national team and won 4 medals. He was one of the best defenders for the national team when he played, he's a defense specialist. He's very comparable to a taller Marcus Smart, an Iguodala or Draymond for example. But Victor still did that to him.

Also craziest highlight of wemby's three i saw was two guys running to try and close out only to get there and just look up, they didn't even try to contest because they simply couldn't

    People who doubt his talent come across as fake smart and just being contrarian. For whatever reason, they’re annoyed this freak of nature is getting the hype he deserves, so they decide they’ll look smarter than others for doubting him. They never mention the Spurs development system or young core because their basketball IQ is low and that broadened context heavily impacts Wemby’s NBA beginning and future…

    My only concern now that we know He'll be a Spur is injuries. Not because the league is as physical in an 80s and 90s bang on em down low kind of way but the grind of 48 minutes and 82 games is far more than he as ever had to play to this point. With his size and frame non contact injuries are just as likely if not more so than anything that might happen when banging with another player or incidental contact.

    A lot of ignorant statements, but the one that got on my nerves was "effective height." Nobody says that. And NO, it is not "an inexact science." In fact, it is among the most measurable of measurables. The Combine lists it for every player that bothers to attend. It is called "standing reach." That only thing that might make it "inexact" is the stupid custom of measuring basketball players in shoes. And, once again, listed height is not "the one on your driver's license." The height on my driver's license is 6' 3". But my basketball height, somehow, is 6' 6".(In shoes and rounded up.)
