I live here and I definitely understand how you feel, I am now a land-owner here and pay a significant amount of taxes on real estate but I am new tourist every day, go have some fun and don't think about those pensioners too much ! 🤠
Problem is ,it is people like her who we remember,it puts you off trying to experiance more!😣.See if that place has a online suggestion form too! You are one of the most respectful Japan bloggers out there ! Here is too more beer and ramen 🍜🍺
Well, back home, and one of my first actions is to join the membership which I couldn't do before cause you tube doesn't let you leave home. What do I discover, but Nathan disturbing the chi of a museum by doing nothing. He was not a Happy Gaijin for a few moments, but like the traveler he is rolled with it, just as he did with the shuttle bus debacle.
Props for being a respectful and rules abiding vlogger. But you may (or may not) know that recent events involving troublesome vloggers has left the Japanese super-sensitive about gaijin wielding selfie sticks. My guess is that this is the bee in her bonnet.
the nearest I got to the camera incident was at Tenryu-ji in kyoto, and it was from other tourists not the staff. The staff at the entrance to the dragon hall explained no photos, so I put the lens cap on my DSLR and positioned the strap so it was hanging more on my back. The staff were happy with this.... however inside 2 women saw the camera and they must have been english because there was muttered comments of "gasp, hes got a camera in here" and lots of tutting 🤣 Fortunately I just ignored them and they just kept the fuss to themselves 😂
This has happened to me but I learnt it wasn't the camera as she said they think it's a selfie stick because of the shape. You should show her that it's just a camera that does not extend. Americans are a huge problem with selfie sticks. This is why I got the compact easy to hide action 2 as a backup
So sorry for the bad experience. Something very similar happened to me in my own island when I took some american friends to a museum. The lady was so rude as yours. Anyway, stay positive as always 😊
Yep, some people in Japan can react disproportionately when it comes to some perceived minor rule infringement esp. by a foreigner. Considering all the events going on in the world and it's a gimbal/selfie stick that almost caused an international diplomatic incident! Anyhow their policy seems so hazy that their staff don't understand it - drop their Public Relations director a message, the departmental directors will be listed on their website. BTW That's a lovely shot of the wind chimes - it says Japanese Summer like nothing else - oh maybe except for the cicadas.. and the heat & humidity.
Sorry, you had to meet such a zealous person, You didn't spot the Starbucks in Daizaifu? One of the most original Starbucks, Kengo Kuma was the architect, same as the Olympic Stadium
Okay I have to ask. I just returned from Japan and kept hearing the same thing and you just said it...what are you saying after you say "arigato" at 3:15
I was in that museum in June and I did not know video taping was not allowed. I was taking a video of a state of the art animation when a woman came over to me and demanded that I delete the video. Probably the same Karen!
The difference is that I wasn’t using my camera! It was off, in its case and hadn’t been used (plus as mentioned I asked previously if I could use it) anyway, it’s all good.. not the end of the world
I think, especially now in 2024, foreign tourism has become too much. You may be tolerated but not really welcome in some places. I think also the weak En exchange rate is making more people feel poorer and easy to resent foreigners.
You spontaneously went to dazaifu? I loved it there!
Yes!!!

I think that the recent incidents are minor and actually haven't done as much as you might think.. its all been mostly hype on the interent

I did :)
Those 2 lovely young men made up for the Karen. Enjoy the next adventure ❤
Agree 100%

yep! positive!! lets keep it up
What did you think about that mountain leading up to the museum? We walked up the "winding mountain path" lol😂
Ohh I went up some steps :)

Haha yes like the heat and humidity lol
Definitely sounds like the kind of situation that the lady will be scolded for distressing the okyakusans.
Naaa it will go un noticed I’m sure
@@HappyGaijin Hai Yai A.I., multilingual robots will soon replace redundant positions as tourist do bring money in.

This is reasonable to me. If you had been filming during a theatre or kabuki performance they would have confiscated your camera.
Are you ok Nathan? I just heard that there was an earthquake near Kyushu.
Yep all food felt it.. a little worrying but fine
Sadly a bad experience sears into our mind more than a positive one. Part of the Darwinian evolution warning. Stay positive and be a happy gaijin!

Sounds like she's got a problem with her customer service attitude , gee I like that temple area though and those friendly guys
Yea it was nice to meet some nice people!
Deutsche Grüße aus Tokyo
What an awful experience! I do not go to museums ever since I worked at one.
Really?? What’s your reason?
Japanese women did nothing wrong Nathan can be an entitled snob sometimes.
Ok lol
You went and got a feedback form? That is 100% Karen behavior.
Haha ok.. well, how on earth are places supposed to improve if not
So complaining about a Karen is wrong? Or is it... 2 Karens don't make a right?
