    And it cycles as quick as anything built today!

    Definitely one of the cooler looking loafers out there.
    Did t even know these existed until today

    This looks to be very well-balanced and lots of digging power. A modern Cat 994 has more body roll than this when in production. I’d love to try one, I would miss the creature comforts of the modern machine though

    Great seeing this loader in action.I remember as a very young man having a lot of literature about the PACCAR products. The KW & Pete trucks were nice,but what caught my eye were the Dart(KW-DART) trucks and the off- set cab loader with the V-12 Cummins diesel.I think this loader was also built as a Sicard in Canada. The co. was eventually taken over by PACCAR.

      We made this vid for my boss. Kinda big boss let's say. But he was out with flip phone. Trying to record sound of dart. I had driver take my phone make video for old guy who loved this shit. He had relatives who were engineers. Great design. Modernize it, lol. Thanks!

      Looks like a solid loader but I hate a cab on the front frame of an articulated loader. That there killed it for me.

    If you look closely you'll see a pair of nitrogen cylinders that assist the boom lifting. It must not have worked too well or other loaders would have incorporated the added nitrogen charged cylinders. I assembled a couple Dart 600's in Inez, KY and 1 near Jellico, TN in the early 70's.

    • @davidjensen291
      @davidjensen291  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes nitrogen! I've wondered about that system. Its one of them things. Cool idea. But it was converted to just hydraulic. The nitrogen was probably maintanece nightmare. Great loader regardless. Both engines, and boom lengths. The whole series of production, was great machine.

    Just watched it again David. Like I said before, You've got the ol girl mastered. Don't even seem to touch the brakes at the truck which is the way to run it, It's all in the timing! That Cummins sounds Fantastic.Just a great sound. Funny, haven't heard anybody whining that the cab is on the front frame half like they do about the ol Houghs! LOL

      Ya. My old quarry is 992 now. And cutting few up. It's great platform. Owner of quarry had relative, engineer at Dart. Was using flip phone. So could hear motor sound. I told hauler take my phone. Make vid. Can't get big scoops. Kinda tired. But sick machine when good shape

      @@dhewitt2514 yes. 992C had like a 14yrd bucket and Dart 600 had 16-17.

    The cool thing about this loader
    - it uses nitrogen for the hydraulics
    - the offset cab for better view

    Any advantage for the LH mounted cab? Seems odd but correct. What model loader is this.

    • @larrydunlop378
      @larrydunlop378 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      600C Dart. Idea was that you had no obstructions (boom,bucket) to look thru while loading, etc. Wonderful machines in their day.

      Dart D600. Yes cab is nice on side. Ya have someone in haul truck. Rock heading your way. And see can guard. It's great loader

  • @larrydunlop378
    @larrydunlop378 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The ol girl can get it done. The operator has got it mastered. Hes real good. Does anyone know if this is a C model 600 by any chance?. Which was the last/ final version. I cant tell.

      @biggeetaueki2meeki 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah,he's using his brakes too Much,you Work close to your Dumpy, with the smallest amount of Travel, between the Ore Face and the Side of your Truck,use your Transmission to stop you from hitting side of Truck,pedal to the Metal,full tilt.

    • @biggeetaueki2meeki
      @biggeetaueki2meeki 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peewee little Kiwi Bloke on Koolan Island had these Mastered in the 80sPedal to the Metal and use your Transmission to Either give Faster lift with Hydraulics or Bog ore into Bucket and use your Transmission to Creep towards your Truck as loader reaches hieght high enough to clear side of Dumpy,shift Transmission to Reverse, the Transmission took a Hammering,that's how you were Trained to Operate.

    • @davidjensen291
      @davidjensen291  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's as tight as you could turn it. Or steering lock up. It had problems. It's too tired for the throw it in reverse. And it had brake problems. It's a antique. But they were a good loader. That one has the bigger motor, longer arms. We also had older smaller motor, shorter arms. This one still runs barely

    • @davidjensen291
      @davidjensen291  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not to sure if last version. It's got to be close though. We had two like this. One is sitting. Front half broke in two. Never finished putting it back together.

    • @davidjensen291
      @davidjensen291  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really running anymore. I worked at a quarry that bought it. It came from a coal mine that bought it new. Same guy took care of it. When we got it. You could park it, hold enough air to start next day. Didn't leak oil. Poor maintenance, abuse slowly killed it. We had a couple darts. Really good loader. Spent alot of time in them

    Shame they dont make such (technically-) correct design with the cab that sits on the front axle, no more !. With what's had on all modern-day makes of this equipment category. All (manufacturers) essentially went by "A" same present-day design template, that is at having the cab sit with the hind half section, which to my opinion is ergonomically somewhat incorrect.

    • @davidjensen291
      @davidjensen291  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't turn any sharper. And that's all it will carry. Tired old antique. Any sharper and it locks up and got to stop. Too much in bucket. It won't turn. At least got chance to make vid. It got the torch.
