Jacob Young I know! I hope someone more familiar with paralinguistics can she’s some light on exactly what it is about the way she speaks that makes one think “cult”?
Wow, I paused that so many times to just get the ick off me. The corporation just keeps doing stuff like this! Lies and more lies. Those poor kids. Thank you for addressing this Nemo!
Also, the fact that they are with the alleged prophet and are taught to revere him, they would probably be intimidated and not want to say anything that could be construed as disparaging or rude to someone who is right there. Also, it is interesting how they give their answers. They continue speaking over and over and repeating various parts of their answer while gauging the adults reaction for approval. This is a common manipulation tactic used by narcissists. It makes me very uncomfortable to watch that video
I was raised in the church, growing in the LDS Church you learn that the church is the known and trusted universe, anything outside the church is the subject of scrutiny and that is where the importance of the prophet comes into play, the Prophet determines what is acceptable and not acceptable in the outside world. From a very young age you are taught to follow the Prophet because he knows the way. There is room for personal opinion and debate in the LDS Church, until the Prophet speaks and then all debate and contrary discussion is suppose to end. I was was once told that if you are told by church leaders to do something even if it is wrong, you are still supposed to do and you will not be held accountable. The Holy Ghost is supposed to be there to confirm truth. The Prophet is there to dictate and define truth.
I am burdened by my role of promoting this anti-Christ dogma. Indoctrination begins early and for some lasts until the grave. Thank God my eyes and brain have been opened to this cult's methods and damage.
Someday down the road many of these kids will grow up and one or two or maybe three will most likely deviated from follow the prophets and we'll get to hear their story here on NEMO
The most important thing (thankfully, you mentioned) is that Jesus says to follow Him. The Holy Spirit was sent from the Father so that we might remember the words that Christ had ALREADY spoken (see John 14:26), be convicted of our sin (see John 16:7-8), have the Holy Spirit dwell within believers in Christ (see 1 Corinthians 3:16), and among several more things, have God's thoughts revealed to His followers (see 1 Corinthians 2:10-11). The work of God is finished as demonstrated on the cross. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is our final Prophet, High Priest, and King. We have all we need to know about having faith in the saving work of Jesus and obeying His commandments (discipleship/sanctification) in the Bible. My daughters and their mom are still Mormon. Though I don't believe in the LDS Church nor its teachings, I still show up for my daughters during their Primary program each year. A little over two years ago, I went, and NOT ONCE was Jesus mentioned in the entire program. The entire thing was what a person needs to DO and to follow the prophet. And I didn't have a problem giving the Bishop an ear full about it.
So beautiful when we're young, even Santa is real 🧸🪅. The church is slowly moving away from being true, to being good, that's not honest either, prophets do mislead, great video.
Good video and nice insight of what is being told to young LDS members. I am not a member nor I had been but the indoctrination on this video is so surreal. 1st: they believe they need a prophet to tell them what to do but the Bible already does that, it's not like the rules has changed. 2nd : they think if they don't have a prophet they may lose their faith or leave the Church when the 3 biggest abrahamic religions don't have alive prophets and still they have so many members; they shouldn't be taught to put their faith on a man but instead to the divine entity they believe. 3rd: How can they say the prophet doesn't lead you astray when the story of the Church tells you otherwise. Did they forgot about Brigham Young, wouldn't his views be more than justifiable for God to take him away?
I feel the same way as Tyson (who commented earlier)...when I was TBM, I would have found this video cute. My last calling prior to my sudden faith crisis was the sunbeams teacher in primary, it was the first calling I’ve ever despised. I had to ask questions like in this video all the time, not questions that inspire individual thought, but that are leading and fishing for the “right answer”. I NEVER would have considered things taught in primary to be brainwash-y, but it is sooo clear now that its exactly what it is. This is seriously one of the creepiest/cringiest videos I’ve ever seen the church make. Okay TBM’s in the comment sections, IF what we are taught in the church about how “the spirit” works (joy/burning in the bosom vs. darkness/stupor of thought) is true...then why do I watch this video (of Primary Pres, Nelson and the kids) and feel nothing but sick to my stomach and darkness? Doesn’t that just confirm that the spirit is just your own brain confirming the things that your heart wants to be true, or that you’ve been indoctrinated to believe is true? Why does the spirit “flip” once someone has a faith crisis? You wouldn’t understand it unless you have actually suffered a “faith crisis”, but my first Sunday back to church after reading the CES letter, I almost threw up. I was physically ILL listening to the testimonies because in that moment, I fully realized the level of indoctrination and brainwashing I had experienced my whole entire life, and prior to “going down the rabbit hole”, I had never once for a second thought anything less than amazing about and towards the church, the leaders, the doctrine, the history, the temple, all of it. And then like a light switch it changes, like a foreign invader my body rejects it....can anyone explain that to me? Most TBMs would just say, “you’ve been deceived, yada yada” but then why doesn’t God want even more now to help me out? Isn’t it supposedly HIM that SENDS the spirit to testify of what is truth? And saying “You’ve been the one to walk away from HIM”....is bull because I didn’t walk away. I never faltered. I paid full tithing even in my poorest school years to now making a very good living, never faltered. Through no fault of my own I found out information, TRUE information that the church now even ADMITS in the “Gospel Topics Essays”, that made me realize that it is just another man-made organization that is continued to be propped up by men claiming to act for God. The explanations the Church gives for JS’s polygamy/polyandry, for the seer stone, for the Book of Abraham, for Racial priesthood and temple bans...is just SUCH a sorry excuse for a religion that I thought was PERFECT....perfect, not super duper messed up and twisted and contradictory, etc. Thank you SO MUCH Nemo, you are one of the best at explaining these things with logic and level headedness. Keep up the fantastic work in chipping away at the undue influence and power this Church has over the hearts and minds of its members (and ex-members too). Life is so much better...Less stressful, less guilt and shame of non-perfection, more $ in my pocket, more time on my hands. And never once has God tried to show me that He (or She or It) gives a crap that I’ve left. Shouldn’t He be devastated one of His missionaries, one of His High Priests, one of His strongest defenders was “deceived”? Why do Paul and Alma get angels to bring them back when they stray? Why doesn’t God care enough about me? (**psssst*** it’s cause he probably isn’t there...and if he is, he SUCKS as a Dad, cause I’m a Dad and I have four kids and I would leave the 99 and go after my lost child if it was true, right?)
@@NEMOTHEMORMON what I love now, thanks to everyone from the ces letter to other respectable channels like this that bring light to that truth, is that I now live without guilt. That’s something engrained into me since a child. I even felt guilty after being inactive for years. Because deep down I thought maybe the gospel is true. But now I know for certain nothing is true. There is no supernatural events that ever happened. In any time period. The feeling of freedom I now have is incredible. There is no god. No heaven. No hell. I’m free...

These videos do not do the church any favors. I am a 25 year old man and that video made me extremely uncomfortable. I can’t imagine how some of the kids might have felt. In the ongoing debate of whether the Mormon church is a cult, this video in particular makes a very strong case for the “it’s a cult” side. Nemo, as the only one in my family and friend group who is out of the church, I have to say it’s frustrating that none of them can see how creepy this really is. The church needs to stop enabling this authoritarian type relationship with its membership and they need to do it very, very soon. People are catching on. Thank you for your succinct and insightful thoughts. I enjoy your commentary a lot.
Thank you for your thoughts! I try to make my videos as friendly to believing members as possible. Feel free to share them with your friends and family.
why do those two make me so uncomfortable. they just feel ... off?? "that wouldn't be good, would it?" also Rusty sittin there just absorbing the ego boost
Get’um while they’re young. That’s how religious organizations work; teaching children to parrot back the “right answers” so they will “know what to do.” Propagandizing children is horrible!
I’ve been wondering too! I would’ve given those answers when I was in primary. But then would the church risk letting the kids think for themselves and maybe giving a duff answer?
Prophet doesn't mean "someone who speaks for God." Prophet means someone who prophecies - someone who tells you what is going to happen in the future. Just like Seer means someone who can see things (in the case of Joseph - by using special stones).
@@NEMOTHEMORMON He's waited decades for his moment in the sun. He's not going to belittle this moment in any way. I think at this point he's convinced himself that he is actually speaking for God. Fascinating the way that the human brain works.

It is such a manipulative religion. I lived through that as a child and as an adult. As a child I felt impelled to do the best I could, which is a good thing until I messed up and did something I thought might jeopardize my eternity in heaven, Which is the church’s objective. Get ‘em while their young. If they succeed in that then they’ve got you for years to come. Unless they’re like me and do their research and study to find out what this religion is based on. LIES. It’s not just my opinion or personal objective but reality in that the church just recently revealed some of its truths to the public. It’s so sad to see children’s grow up in a religion that pretty much controls you. Don’t get me wrong I learned a ton of good values from living that religion but ultimately when it is based on falsehood then it can be detrimental to ones future. I am still trying to de reprogram myself from its teachings. Thank God to these you tubers like NEMO who show the truth and let Mormons as well as ex- Mormon’s get the chance to figure it all out for themselves 🤩👏 great job again NEMO!
Becca Robinson this is the thing that gets me. The church has readily exposed its own lies to the world, and somehow manage to spin it so members stick around! Thanks for the kind words!
They never mentioned Jesus or how a prophet would help you get closer to him. Just that listening to the prophet helps you stay in the church. Very telling.
I find this video incredibly disturbing. My husband suggested editing the video making the church leaders look like demons or vampires but I think the fact that they look like such nice people is what makes it so disturbing.
Urgh sooooo creepy! When the girl speaks at 2:10, she repeats "the church" a few times. Like "they'll stop thinking about the church" and so on. Shouldn't thinking about Jesus be more important? Just shows where these kids loyalties lie from skewed teachings. Since I've been an "unaffected member", I've realised that Jesus taught many many things that we as a church completely ignore. But it doesn't matter because we're taught as young children that the church comes first.
Great point! Thanks for sharing! I feel like the church faces an odd paradox of fighting tooth and nail to have Jesus in the name of the church and b considered christian, while ultimately placing more emphasis on the church and the uniqueness of mormonism.
I was thinking that too. Its supposed to be all about Jesus....but, beginning to realize in lds church it's not all about Jesus.....its about the church, following the prophet current, Joseph Smith and then Jesus!!
So hard to watch! I am so happy that my immediate family is no longer subjected to this cult of personality. This is not far removed from how the Chinese spoke of the great leader during the Cultural Revolution, or the animals in Animal Farm. I'm sick to my stomach watching this video.
@@NEMOTHEMORMON absolutely, you are doing a fantastic job and these are the ones the world needs to see. People ask all the time why I'm so obsessed with the things of the church after leaving it and it is because of things like this. Keep making videos!
Your comment re leading the witness made me laugh NEMO. That is how the missionary discussions are given to 'investigators' which is what they call those who take the time to listen to the propaganda of the church. They ask questions to which one can only answer a certain way - the way the lesson pre-determines the outcome - the 'investigator' will KNOW they have been taught the truth. Nelson admits here that he is the one that is the prophet by saying that prophets who lead people astray are taken away and that he doesn't want to be. The children are too young to realize that they are being manipulated to tell others that they 'know' the prophet is 'twue' and necessary or we would do bad things without him. Nelson is mentally out of it OR he is lying. He doesn't prophecy of anything.
I’m offended they didn’t let the African girl speak, Maybe she could have asked about past prophetic doctrine relating to her heritage. Did the past prophets lead people astray ? My grandfather said he could only be a slave in the celestial kingdom
In other videos she does speak, but thats a great point. The priesthood ban may well have affected her family personally and yet Nelson sits there and says prophets don't lead people astray.
I liked pres Hinckley he said Mormon meant more good. And now I'm hearing Satan had a victory over him by accepting Mormon as a name. That's just confusing.
In addition, Solomon (wisest man on the earh) led his people into Idolatry. David went sideways, lying to his people (although he repeated later). JONAH disobeyed and refused to teach the Ninevites initially due to his own thoughts 1 KINGS CHAPTER 13 is a mM of God who died LITERALY following a prophet. That quote that hebus quoting is untrue. There was not a PERIOD after "the prophet will never led the people astray".. the rest of the quote talked about God giving the people a prophet IF they had the FAITH AND FORTITUDE to listen to the word of God. So, literally, God gives the people they deserve. If we are practicing IDOLATEY, God will allow us to have a prophet. WE DESERVE!!!
The one thing you did not cover is in LDS theology is that God changes his mind a lot. So when early church leaders said things that are considered wrong, racist, sexist, now. Those thing were perfect ok with God then, or they were speaking as fallible men and God was not doing any corrections at the time so these became doctrine.
Most of your videos feel a bit too short like you're not saying everything you have to say in the topic. I may be wrong about that but if you do have more to say I would like to hear it.
There are plans afoot for some more long-form content, I try to provide an oversight to make these videos as accessible as possible. Thanks for letting me know what you'd like to hear!
I guess you could do two versions of each video one short one with more elaborate commentary. I really love long elaborate commentary but I guess not everyone does.

@@chrishumphries7489 Ok, so maybe there is no doctrine that actually says that the prophet MUST BE perfect but its ingrained into the culture through implicit means, just like the video here shows. Without saying it, I believe, these kids in their minds might be equating the prophet with Jesus and I see a problem with that. Especially when prophets can get things very wrong (race and the priesthood, polygamy, Ensign Peak fund, etc).
@@chrishumphries7489 Sincere question: so when the prophet, in General Conference, backed up by LDS scripture, and published in the Ensign, Official Declarations, Manuals, and other publications taught that blacks were not worthy to be sealed in the temple or have eternal families, was he leading the church astray? Were the missionaries, who were explicitly instructed not to convert black families because they couldn't go to the temple, being led astray? Or was it really God's will that an entire race be denied these "blessings" for over a century based solely on the color of their skin?
Oh no but when that prophet said that that was not doctrinal. He was only speaking his opinion based on his thoughts at that time.
Someone very wise once said "If the fruits of a prophet were evident, the constant calls to follow the prophet would not be necessary."
Oooh! I like that!
Jesus Christ!
Great video. One day theses kids will find you on TH-cam, and hopefully question Russel Nelson and this corporation.
That would be fascinating
I wish all Mormons were more like you.
Thanks!
This reminds me of presentations in Castro's Cuba where children are indoctrinated with Marxist teaching.
Susan Bergman oh dear! I’m not familiar with those presentations, any sources to hand so I can check them out?
Thank you Nemo, the truth needs to come out
Says “ I will never lead you astray “
While leading them astray
The irony is unreal!
Hey kids why isn't one of you asking him if he drops over dead can the next prophet take the time to tell us how his predecessor led us astray. Because prophets don't just die god takes them out
Reminds me of the 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸, and the kids are set in place as cardboard picture cutouts.
Surreal strange.
He’s not a prophet. He’s a “global faith leader”. See. Problem solved. 😆
Jordan Erickson oh well when you put it like that... 🤔
You are so right. The scriptures tell us to READ and pray about the words of His servant. NEVER do the scriptures say "Follow"
This would make for a great tutorial on hypnosis and grooming.
It's a shame grown adults telling children that the word of God cannot be trusted that they need a stand-in who is no standing but actually is leading people away from the true Gospel of Jesus Christ to believe in fallacies
Those sweet innocent programmed people😢
You articulated why I felt so uncomfortable when I saw that clip originally. Thanks!
You’re very welcome!
I feel like those poor little kids are trapped behind that table with two Warren Jeff like people blocking them in until they've answered the questions exactly as expected. Creepy!!!
Thanks for the video. This brought me straight back to my childhood. Viewing this now as an adult is helpful.
You're welcome!
sounds exactly like the jim jones little people class. "now little children always be prepared to follow out beloved cult leader. and when he says drink the kool aid show your parents how brave you are and be the first in line."
“If we didn’t have a modern day prophet we wouldn’t know what to do.”
*The Holy Spirit and the Bible have entered the chat...*
I’m digging your channel brother. Thanks for your work. 👍🏼
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
Lol there is no god at all silly 🙃
IDK why you were recommended to me, but I'm now subscribed!
Brilliant, welcome!
Those people are just gross, and if anyone thinks Mormonism isn’t a cult, listen to that woman speak.
Jacob Young I know! I hope someone more familiar with paralinguistics can she’s some light on exactly what it is about the way she speaks that makes one think “cult”?
Great video! Glad you included that detail about the song saying follow the prophet 54 times. That is just crazy!
It is, some call it brainwashing, but i'm not qualified to say. Either way, it is indeed crazy!
That video clip was cringey. Thank you for a thoughtful commentary, Nemo!
No worries! Glad you liked it!
I find it interesting he referred to himself as the “President of the church” and not the “Prophet”
Interesting indeed!
Wow, I paused that so many times to just get the ick off me. The corporation just keeps doing stuff like this! Lies and more lies. Those poor kids. Thank you for addressing this Nemo!
You and me both! You're very welcome!
Good point!
Watching the Skull n Bones member, in front of those children 😅
Those are familiar teachings to many of use, and they are all supported by quotes from leaders, despite what apologists try to say.
I am burdened by my role of promoting this anti-Christ dogma. Indoctrination begins early and for some lasts until the grave. Thank God my eyes and brain have been opened to this cult's methods and damage.
That lady has crazy eyes!
Freak’n sick! How about following Christ instead!
Thanks for sharing. Scary video 👹
Yes it was!
Someday down the road many of these kids will grow up and one or two or maybe three will most likely deviated from follow the prophets and we'll get to hear their story here on NEMO
having a prophet is important so he can overrule the silly revelations of a previous one.
The girl at 2:30 basicaly described how I got out of the church! :D
I'm sure you're not alone in that one!
Thanks for the added info!
So beautiful when we're young, even Santa is real 🧸🪅. The church is slowly moving away from being true, to being good, that's not honest either, prophets do mislead, great video.
Maxwell's Unearthly thanks! It’s so sad to see that innocence and trusting nature taken advantage of!
Well done Nemo.
Thanks!
Brilliant points, thanks for sharing them!
Thanks so much for your comment!
They should’ve asked what they’ve actually learned from the prophet. 🦗 🦗
Where are the questions about Jesus? Like why is it important to follow Jesus? 🤦♀️ this made me feel sick 🤢🤮So happy to be out of this cult!
I agree, where is Christ in all this?
This is so creepy....brainwashing....and Nelson is terrifying
When the lady brings him in and he begins to talk..not. only kinda creepy, but also a little fake!
Grew up in the church. This was me. Now I’m 40 and have read the gospel topics essays... and now I cringe watching this....
It was a lot of us, and we knew no better. This is why it's important we have the conversations openly. Thanks for sharing.
No heaven. No hell. I’m free...
Nice video. I went back and watched the entire original video. It is so manipulative and made me feel sick. Thanks for sharing this and your insight. Keep up the good work.
Glad you enjoyed it! Will do!
I love how they position the little black girl right next to the Stepford wife in the first few frames.
I wish one of these kids would ask if Warren Jeffs lead people astray. Lol, CUT!!!!
this is so Fuxked up
I would like to see a comparison of B.I.T.E. model of LDS doctrines/policies/rules versus communist ideology/politics/rules. There are so many parallels.
That'd be interesting for sure!
Jimmy Snow and Telltale did a B.I.T.E. breakdown of LDS stuff, so at least part of it's out there lol
Feel free to share them with your friends and family.
why do those two make me so uncomfortable. they just feel ... off??
"that wouldn't be good, would it?"
also Rusty sittin there just absorbing the ego boost
Yeah, just listening to kids saying how necessary he is!
Wow, this is super gross. I need to go take a shower. Nicely done @NEMO
Thanks, it's pretty full on! I struggled too!
Get’um while they’re young. That’s how religious organizations work; teaching children to parrot back the “right answers” so they will “know what to do.” Propagandizing children is horrible!
I wondered if the kids answers had been rehearsed their answers but then remembered that they have been taught this stuff since birth almost daily.
I’ve been wondering too! I would’ve given those answers when I was in primary. But then would the church risk letting the kids think for themselves and maybe giving a duff answer?
It’s really brave if you to dissect a Q and A session with children 😂
Prophet doesn't mean "someone who speaks for God." Prophet means someone who prophecies - someone who tells you what is going to happen in the future. Just like Seer means someone who can see things (in the case of Joseph - by using special stones).
S Vance indeed, the redefinition of terms is creating unrealistic expectations. Also notice how he says “for” god rather than “with” god?
@@NEMOTHEMORMON He's waited decades for his moment in the sun. He's not going to belittle this moment in any way. I think at this point he's convinced himself that he is actually speaking for God. Fascinating the way that the human brain works.
@@NEMOTHEMORMON Redefining terms is the only way to make it plausible. At this point, I think they have given up on true and are just trying to prove that it's possible.
Absolutely, the scariest thing about dangerous people is how normal they look.
"the prophet will never lead the church astray"
Proceeds to ban the priesthood until 1978!
2+2 does indeed = 5 you know!
@@NEMOTHEMORMON 😁
Yet black peoples still want to join lol
This is really creepy.
@@NEMOTHEMORMON Yes, I would totally agree. It's a bit embarrassing, really.
Derral Hawthorne it was a tough one, I almost didn’t do it! But I couldn’t ignore what was in front of me and thought others should face it too!
@@NEMOTHEMORMON absolutely, you are doing a fantastic job and these are the ones the world needs to see. People ask all the time why I'm so obsessed with the things of the church after leaving it and it is because of things like this. Keep making videos!
Oh man! This is so weird and creepy. Follow the leader.
Why do I get the same feelings watching these kids and US soldiers taken as prisoners by terrorists?
Makes you wonder if having young prophets would be a better idea....sure would make it a little more obvious if they were struck down out of the blue.
Certainly would, maybe that’s why they’re all so old! Also makes you wonder what Joseph Smith did wrong *cough* underage girls *cough* 🤭
@@NEMOTHEMORMON hahahaha nice. Yes, curious indeed 🤔🙄😔
Their answers are so cringe. The Holy Ghost is to lead us!
B.r.a.I.n.w.a.s.h.I.n.g. at its worst! This makes me sick!!!
Glad I injected some humour into this otherwise grim scenario!
Tokenism.
I liked pres Hinckley he said Mormon meant more good. And now I'm hearing Satan had a victory over him by accepting Mormon as a name. That's just confusing.
It is, I did a video all about it!
I wonder why the "prophet" never reveals any prophesies? Maybe he could have warned us that covid was coming?
Where is the video, I am a Mormon campaign? mentioned @4:12
Should be in the description
In addition, Solomon (wisest man on the earh) led his people into Idolatry.
David went sideways, lying to his people (although he repeated later).
JONAH disobeyed and refused to teach the Ninevites initially due to his own thoughts
1 KINGS CHAPTER 13 is a mM of God who died LITERALY following a prophet.
If you couldn’t tell from the weird sing-song cadence that it’s propaganda … 🙄
Is it Mo Collins playing Trina on MadTV? No, it's Joy D Jones being faker than a 3$ bill with slightly less warmth than Cruella DeVille.
I cover that loosely at the end of the video, cheers for the additional insight!

The answer of the second child appeared to be that of a cult member.
What a creep. I don't believe a word he says
