    I've owned this for a month now. Day 1 when I got it, I took it to my chemical guys detail garage. It's only 3 miles way, and my closest detail shop that I new had pads. I bought a better backing plate and better pads. They even have a 1 inch and a 2 inch backing plate. The pad and the backing plate make a night and day difference and cost like 30+ tax. I got different aggressive level pads. You can get different pads and backing plates elsewhere and I highly recommend it.

      Awesome thanks for sharing!!! The pads it come with are bad for sure but awesome to know you are getting the performance from it with a little mod

      Which thread size is?

    • @manfredodepaz4991
      @manfredodepaz4991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maximelefebvre8987 I'm not sure what the original size was. I did buy the dual screw that matched the chemical guy 5/8. If your not comfortable opening it up, then I'd suggest stopping at just the pads. The pads will make it feel like your getting an even glide across the surface. I changed out the backing plate because it was cheap rubber and plastic that bends. If you do decide to open it, you should change out the original grease with some white lithium grease. It helps cut down on noise.

      @@manfredodepaz4991 did you have link of this maching screw? Its screw both side like 5/16 to 5/8?

    • @manfredodepaz4991
      @manfredodepaz4991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maximelefebvre8987 I don't have a link since I bought it in person at a Lowes. The dual screw I bought, screwed onto (female) the original and the other end was a 5/8 (male). Thats why I can't remember the thread of the original. I knew it had to be attached to a 5/8 thread, so I just matched with one that would screw on and then screw on to the plate. The original is smaller than 5/8, so maybe 1/2 or 3/8. I'm sure it would have been cheaper to find one on Amazon, but I wanted everything right then and there to use it.

    I really want a machine polisher, but I know what happens when you buy cheap. They break, and you can see that in the reviews. This thing is so new that none of the comments here saying "works great" matter to me until after they've owned it a couple of years with lots of use.

    I got one of these to polish my wheels, headlights and other small areas. I only use it on my own cars. The machine works fine. The pads are what makes the difference here. Get some decent pads and it'll be fine for light use. I prolly don't recommend this thing for pros. Its cheap and prolly wont stand up to heavy use.

    • @joeschmoe6908
      @joeschmoe6908 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recommend a small rotary instead. The throw on a da prevents you from getting in tight corners on some headlight designs. Plus with a small rotary you can use 1, 2, 3, and 5 in plates depending on the shaoe of the lights. Holograms are not really a problem, just do a fast pass with a superfine polish and soft pad at the end of the job.

    The appeal for me owning this is I just purchased the Kimo extended reach 3/8" cordless ratchet. It's sold with 2 batteries. This is cheap enough so between the 2 tools I'd have 3 batteries to rotate. Something to think about.

    Surprised a ‘Detailer’ would actually recommend this 🤔 I took a punt & purchased this, used it for about 15 mins before packing it back & returning for a refund. It’s under powered, gets very hot in the hand & mine kept cutting out due to the overheating I guess. It’s cheap for a reason without stating the obvious. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone based on my experience.

    I use a drill with a 3" attachment but I feel more strain on my wrist than I would like from holding the trigger, I wish it had auto-lock. Other than that it's easy to control and mine has technically 4 speeds plus it being trigger sensitive. I would spend more money for a DA mini polisher like that Maxshine, just rotary doesn't seem enough upgrade from a drill for me.
