I’m a high school senior and going to graduate so soon this may, I have a 1989 regular cab short bed OBS 5.7 with 54,000 mil all original no rust or anything or problems or dents nothing wrong at all, after school I wanna legalize it & bring it into the usa the truck right now is in Mexico it was my dads but my dad had passed away back in September, & I think i might straight pipe it when I bring it in, im in Texas so right next to Mexico.

Slap an x pipe and shorty or long tube stainless headers and it’s good to go. H pipe = older hot rods. X pipe = newer hotorods or big blocks

Need advice thinking about straights on a 5.7 with long tube headers no catalytic converters, no mufflers with 5x18 in tips. Any one think it will sound good?
It would be very very loud and choppy. If thats what you want it sound like then itll sound good
I'd keep the cats or get some mufflers instead. Otherwise it will clap, snap crackle hard.

if it's like 3in it shouldn't be bad. I got borla atak it works well. it doesn't sound like a wet fart spooling up in high revs like some true dual set ups. I got speed engineering longtube headers true dual straight pipe. sounds amazing to me. HoA hates it

I have same truck 5.7 but im habing trouble it statting i did full tune up was running but i had to crank boutb10 times for it to start im thinking its the starter. N my uncle chnaged fuel pump not the fuel pump isnt turning on any ideas. N on seconf n 3 gesr it engine its hard i know it need new tanny fuel filter exc n a new throttle sensor i believe lmk. Thankz

Is it possible to get my Chevy 1500 to be relatively quiet but sound GOOD when I hit it? I don't like loud but my understanding it we get a fair amount of performance boost from a good exhaust.

Before I went louder I had a flowmaster 50 series on my truck and it was exactly what you described. Quiet till you wanted to hear it

They are actually pretty good on fuel. Had one years ago and averaged 22mpg with the same tires set up but had 275s up front.. this truck has 295s all around. And a 2/3 drop.. actually looking at buying another one right now lol
