this is by far my favorite generation of chev/gmc pickups! i love these trucks. i prefer the 88-94.5 interior and the tbi engines over the vortec but these 88-98 are great trucks. i had many and still daily drive a 94 with a 6.5 in it. really good trucks i love the color of this one z71 awesome and these 350 sound great strait piped❤
They should have kept the 3-inch pipe after the y-pipe with a 3in high flow cat but to each his own. I have two of these trucks, a 94 and a 98 and they are excellent trucks. They both have less than 100k each. They are going up in value recently
@@CL-ty6wpcookie cutter? You mean popular? Because they sound NOTHING like glasspacks 🤣 completely different style muffler. It also depends on how it's ran. Mine was welded all the way back and straight piped to the muffler. Cut with the saw and clamp it on, yeah, they don't sound as good
There's a lot of trucks in that generation sound like that where I'm at. An H-pipe would equalize the pressure, but I have yet to hear it with a 305/350 V8 someday.
I have the SAME TRUCK. Exterior wise it’s the same except the bulk bars. Interior it’s got the CHERRY RED. Power seats and all. 380 thousand kilometres. It’s a 97. Starts with barely touching the key.
The 5.7 sbc is the best sounding v8 in GM history in my opinion. The power delivery feels great as well. Just wish they were as reliable/durable as ls. I've been in one sbc with 350k on original engine that ran good. I've been in several 5.3s with 300k+ that ran like new. And that's just straight facts there's really no argument. Ever seen an all original sbc with 1 milion miles? Me neither. There's been several 6.0's documented tho.
ive owned a few of these trucks and i can say with 100% certainty that this truck is NOT a 5.7 350. it is a 305. the 350 trucks had dual 2" pipe and the 305 had single 3" its a common mistake since the only way to tell is through the vin or RPO codes, still an awesome truck though the 305 is still a great motor
That's how it works, it's got really good oil pressure too! Looks like a solid truck. If the owner keeps the maintenance up on that thing then it will probably out live him.
@@matthewcortes3786 i agree. And with them changing styles/engines every year, it will be impossible to find used parts. Cash for clunkers was part of this whole scheme too.
Only put 10,000 on it?! If that was my C/K 1500 it would have went from 70,000 to 165,000 or more in 2 years. People like me are the reasons why old GM Trucks have so many miles lol 😂
It's a TBI 350, it makes 200hp. That 2.5" pipe isn't restricting that engine, especially since it has no muffler. The manifolds are the most restrictive part of the exhaust, followed by the tiny crush bent y-pipe. I changed from 2.5" to 3" on my old TBI 305 when I was a teenager, thinking it was too small and it lost a lot of low end torque. Thankfully it was a 5spd so I could let it wind out the gears to make up for it but I wouldn't do that again.
@@fgj8379 That's not right, it's not the size of the pipe doing it, per say. It might not be properly reduced, they might've stuck the 2.5" pipe into the 2.75" y-pipe (that's the factory size, not 3") and instead of a smooth transition they just filled the gap with weld and the sound is the exhaust hitting the gap. Either that, or something else is wrong.
The is is my favorite generation of any Silverados. These designs are so smooth and clean.
In my opinion was the last best design the newer ones look fucking weird

One of the best sounding engines to ever be made is the small block Chevy.
A straight piped 90s Z71! Makes me think of those Highschool Years🤣
I lived in central Alberta Canada growing up in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s and these were wicked popular. Always wanted one.

You can't find those trucks with less than 100k on the clock lately. The owner definitely has a gem. It sounds awesome!
True
I found one with 175k on the body, 20k on the motor.. I was ecstatic lol
I have an 89 gmc Sierra with 172k miles. Around 10-20k on the motor I think
Best years for the 1500.
The all so hated 95 lol. Beautiful truck tho. And I must say, these trucks deserve a dual setup rather than one out the side.
Why is the 95 hated? Please educate me cause I'm curious lol.

I agree with the 3 inch pipe diameter
I’m planning to do this to my 1999 gmc suburban it’s getting fixed right now cause it has a rod knocking 😂😤
Owned one for 14 yrs & ran excellent 268k when I sold it to neighbor. Rust was the killer. This as usual sounds good on acceleration.
Too much clap for me honestly. Mine was a single to a Flowmaster 40 dual out to 3 inch tips in the rear. Less rattle and more bark under throttle
Fm40 is as cookie cutter as it gets.
Almost as bad as glass packs.

3 inch should be minimum diameter for that engine size, especially with just a single pipe. The small diameter is likely making it clap like that.
