    Can u explain briefly how the 3 inches of lift kept wheels from rubbing ? Just curious because it's so much info saying it cant be done jus curious to what has to be done

    • @frankdelucey2137
      @frankdelucey2137 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering the same thing.
      I hear that using Axle bushings instead of needle bearings on your inner drive shaft when doing a lift will make it a permanent fix on the inner drive shaft.
      Will be doing a lift in the summer and I will be using the Axle bushings as they are machined for a perfect fit.

    Dear 88Routes,
    I hope this message finds you well. I am a big fan of your TH-cam channel and have been following your content closely. Your videos are incredibly helpful and inspiring, especially for those of us looking to upgrade our vehicles.
    I am currently working on my 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 and am planning to upgrade the suspension. Based on your expertise, I would greatly appreciate your advice on the following:
    Bilstein 5100 Front Coils:
    Could you please share which Bilstein 5100 front coils you used for your 4Runner? Any specific part numbers or details about the setup would be very helpful. Additionally, any insights on how they perform both on-road and off-road would be much appreciated.
    OME Rear Coils Recommendation:
    I'm also looking for a suitable set of OME (Old Man Emu) rear coils to complement the Bilstein 5100s. Which OME rear coils would you recommend for achieving a balanced lift and improved ride quality on my 4Runner?
    Thank you for your time and assistance. Your guidance will be instrumental in helping me make the right choices for my suspension upgrade.
    Best regards,
    Raymond

    I really like the look on the first 3rd gen 4runner, good tire size for the lift, but I have to think the 285/70/17's (32.7") will rub. I've read in numerous places that 265/75/16 (31.65") are the largest a 3rd gen 4runner can take w/out rubbing. I have 265/70/17's (31.61") on my 3rd gen almost exactly like this one (minus the lift) and they come super close to rubbing on the bottom of the plastic fender flares when the front wheels are turned. Although appropriating funds towards a sweet set of wheels instead of aftermarket UCA's tells me this rig is more interested in form than function. It does look nice!

    • @austinhunter2317

      I’m wondering how 265/70/17’s looks on a third gen. Can you post a video?? I’ll subscribe to you In case you do upload.

      I want 285s

    • @jvogler_art4708
      @jvogler_art4708 ปีที่แล้ว

      285s can fit without rubbing, you just have to know what you’re doing. It’s in the alignment, wheel offset, and other factors. It’s been proven false that suspension lifts help you clear bigger tires because the suspension will still flex to the same spots, If you research on the forums, people have fit this size on 4Runners with no suspension lift at all. That’s because the rubbing occurs at a certain amount of uptravel, this uptravel can be limited by an extended bump stop or A 1 inch body lift can help to move the body away from the tire and keep the full range of travel. but it can be done even without any lift by tubbing the fender wells and pushing the suspension through its range of motion to find spots where the tires hit. UCAs MAY help fit 33s because they allow for more caster adjustment I believe which also might effect tire clearance. Tinkerers adventure has a video on fitting larger tires I recommend you check out for Toyota ifs but that video is on an FJ so adjustments may slightly be different.
      Personally though when I go for 33s I’ll be doing 255/85r16s. The skinny pizza cutter 33s. Better mileage, less rotating mass, BFG makes this size, easier on drive train and the contact patch has been proven to be very similar and in some scenarios even better for traction.

    Question:
    Do you think I can run 285s with a 2.5” lift using 6112s in the front, 5160s in the back, SPC uca, with a running board delete on a 2001 SR5 with factory flares? - without rub ofc.
