Whereas most of these influences are great in their own style with maybe an occasional foray into another genre, the really incredible thing about Matteo is that he can legitimately perform so many varied musical genres...including jazz fusion, Bebop jazz, rock, blues, country, flamenco (spanish style) and classical. There are examples of all these on TH-cam. Plus he covers and puts his own twist on tunes by Holdsworth, Carlton, Metheny, Pastorius, Weather Report and more. A guitarist's guitarist. For me, what defines an extraordinary musician is their ability to tell a story, or make you feel like you're on an exciting journey or adventure. Mateo does all this and more with such ease and panache. What can I say? This is too good. Bravo maestro.
From a boomer guitarist...it's refreshing to find such a humble contemporary guitarist with tone, melody and soul in their playing. It's not often younger guitarist will give me inspiration to play and learn new tricks. Well done from a new fan!!!
Jimi revived Blues, Eddie and Randy Rhoads revived Metal, Malmsteen revived Shred, and Mancuso revived Jazz....albeit no genre ever left. What is amazingly is understanding the beginning of a new age with a single player. It’s virtually impossible to copy this style of play which makes it interesting. Some things are easier to copy than others and this is a style you were either born to play or you will never master at this level However, I do think there are going to be more finger style playing shredders in the future because of this. It must be amazing to think (being Mancuso) that you are single-handedly on the forefront of modernizing guitar technique, style, and improvisation.
The best "new" guitarist out there. Matteo has shades of Eric Johnson, Scott Henderson, Allan Holdsworth, all without a pick ala Jeff Beck. His textures are as varied as Steve Morse or Guthrie Govan. His sudden bursts of speed with legato and tapping is what really sets him apart. I never got into fusion yet this guy uncomplicates it and makes it melodic and easier to follow. At :45 and 4:16 its like a whole new song with tempo and time shifts similar to Joe Satriani and Dream Theater. Truly jaw dropping as somehow it totally works cohesively.
and the best part is that all of these influences mix up smoothly and consistently. It doesn't feel like pure randomness or a tornado of ideas just put together for the sake of it. It sounds natural, concise, and brilliant.
I’m new to Matteo Mancuso and this is the first time I’ve listened to his music. Easily one of my new favorites. I hear a lot of Steve Vai in his playing but that right hand is something else.

There are so many great guitarists in the world that it really takes something extra to stand out. I think Matteo has an incredible understanding of incorporating all his techniques to achieve something spectacular beyond the rest. To be a great guitarist you too have to become a great musician and i think Matteo proves the ability to express himself in ways that gives meaning to his music.
1:56 - 2:10 is the jazziest sequence I've ever heard. That was exquisitely beautiful in a very unique way. The ending especially wraps up the whole piece in such a impactful, haunting fashion. Brilliantly written track.
I hear a lot of Scott Henderson influence in this song with his own personality mixed in. The head lead sounds just like something Scott would play. Great song... nicely done. I am a fan already!
Beautiful technique. Sounds very natural and effortless. Just hear traces of Satriani, Vai, Holdsworth and Alan Murphy the late English session man that played on albums by Kate Bush, Go West and Level 42. This guy is the new kid on the block and he’s gonna shred like a mudda!

As a lifelong musician I can appreciate how much time you spent developing your skills and your style. I absolutely love how you combine so many kinds of music in your playing. I am looking forward to following your career in the years to come. I wish you all the best in your musical endeavors!
Honestly, the beginning sounds like a mix of Steve vi and Eric Johnson, then breaks into something totally different. His sweeps and licks are like butter. Very unique style my friend!
Hands down this kid is the best guitarist on the planet. It’s not just his technique. It’s his sound. His ability. He’s the future of guitar. And he’s so young and can’t imagine how much better he could get. It’s awesome to see him and be able to look back on this. He’ll be talked about for years upon years, future generations.
I do like him alot but still has alot of room to grow..His solos are manly scales..Needs more passion.. Let the music play him, not the other way around..
Age, doesn't always bring more skill. Sometimes the more you learn, it can fill your brain with techniques that can throw your sound or originality. Contrary to this, unravelling ones self through playing, is all apart of the music tapestry. Exploring cracks n crevices unchartered. Obviously knowledge is powerful, it's the way you apply that knowledge that makes a great player. You can learn all the techniques of the world, but if you don't know how to flow between techniques, coax emotion from listeners, then it's just a bunch of ideas filling space and time. I suppose in itself, the craft of guitar playing is meant to be experimental, choreless, enjoyed by both player, and playette. Matteo, is one of those players that knows how to meld them all. I had to specify that with time, comes more responsibility of what to do with that newly acquired knowledge, but doesn't always guarantee being better.

As an outstanding young guitarist, he has the best prerequisites to become an outstanding musician. Among other things, I see potential for development in the basic rhythmic structure of the pieces of music I have heard so far.
I come from Sicily and know quite a few famous and semi-famous guitarists. There was a time where Matteo was much more famous outside Sicily and even Italy than at home. Now he's not anymore the underdog, but the top G!
There are a very... VERY... few musicians who don't 'work' their instruments they just meld with them to create a voice. When it comes to guitar you've got names like Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Jimi Hendrix, Andy Summers, Eric Clapton, and just a few others. Not all of the great guitar players on that list even though they made great music. Matteo 'feels' like those guys... just effortless in his playing not fighting the instrument at all. Keep it up kid you have a very bright future ahead of you making wonderful music for us all to enjoy.
Left a comment on one of your videos 7 years ago about how blown away I was by your technical ability. 7 years and I'm even more in awe. Beautiful piece of music and probably my favourite solo in a song in years.

A guitarist's guitarist. For me, what defines an extraordinary musician is their ability to tell a story, or make you feel like you're on an exciting journey or adventure. Mateo does all this and more with such ease and panache. What can I say? This is too good. Bravo maestro.
Caro Maestro, non ho parole. Non ce ne sono di adeguate per descriverla. Dio la benedica e Grazie per quello che ci dona.
From a boomer guitarist...it's refreshing to find such a humble contemporary guitarist with tone, melody and soul in their playing. It's not often younger guitarist will give me inspiration to play and learn new tricks. Well done from a new fan!!!
Inspirational!!
Matteo consolidating himself as a guitar powerhouse... astonishing! And every video he drops is also a work of art. Lit!
Some things are easier to copy than others and this is a style you were either born to play or you will never master at this level
However, I do think there are going to be more finger style playing shredders in the future because of this.
@@fabioragone22 Strange that you one doesnt mention the most obvious of his influences.... Stanley Clarke.
I'm surprised it works too, but I like it
@@heru777mediaI don’t hear the Stanley Clarke influence. His approach to tapping is totally different than Clarke’s.
u put it into words.. such a genuis and unique mix of his inspirations, yet everything hes ever done is tasteful and purposeful
Complimenti stratosferico ,con questa tecnica puo fare tutti i generi che vuole
Le sonorità della tua musica e la capacità nell'eseguirla sono degne della bellezza sconfinata della tua terra, la Sicilia!
I’m new to Matteo Mancuso and this is the first time I’ve listened to his music. Easily one of my new favorites. I hear a lot of Steve Vai in his playing but that right hand is something else.
Having the gift of music is one thing...
Though what this young man as been gifted with... Is a level that I have no clue about.. It's beyond...
Best new player to come along in a while.
Words no longer suffice when describing this young man's musicianship.
Lucked into seeing him live. He was randomly in my area in the middle of nowhere last year. Great show. Very loud. Loved hearing this one especially.
If a human heart could play a guitar by itself it would be Matteo.Such a joy to behold..thank you
bit of Al, smidge of Alan and a lot of the late JBeck. what a talent..
Matteo stai mandando fuori di testa il mondo!!!! Dritto così! Non ti fermare!!! Stai facendo la rivoluzione.. per quelli che già danno.. e per quelli che forse sapranno.. GENIO !!!! Olé tu!!!!
I agree with your comment after i let google translate...
"Long live Matteo" 🎶
Ive seen Matteo twice this year. He's totally amazing. But who of you have heard of Scotty Anderson? He's a highly underrated guitarist but a true master on the guitar. Danny Gatton once said: Scotty is the only one who terrified him!
Outstanding!!! I would love to hear Matteo play with Virgil Donati.
1:56 - 2:10 is the jazziest sequence I've ever heard. That was exquisitely beautiful in a very unique way. The ending especially wraps up the whole piece in such a impactful, haunting fashion. Brilliantly written track.
This style reminds me Chris Poland's jazz fusion albums, especially for this album: th-cam.com/video/i2h51F84kAk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XEjsX8qSP797Otfm
I hear a lot of Scott Henderson influence in this song with his own personality mixed in. The head lead sounds just like something Scott would play. Great song... nicely done. I am a fan already!
I listen to this song and just feel it, walking alone in street and waiting for sunrise. So much emotion in your playing, amazing! 🫠
I hear a number of great guitarists in MM's playing. He is truly amazing.
Exquisite from start to finish. Matteo is in a class of his own.
WTF. It is amazing!!
Not only is he beautiful to look at but he’s a stunning player. I’m a big Jeff beck fan and this gave me similar chills down my spine
You are not too bad to look at yourself 😅👍🏻
@@threeamigos842 thank you ❤️
Beautiful technique. Sounds very natural and effortless.
Just hear traces of Satriani, Vai, Holdsworth and Alan Murphy the late English session man that played on albums by Kate Bush, Go West and Level 42.
This guy is the new kid on the block and he’s gonna shred like a mudda!
Yes! I was hoping we’d get a video for Silkroad. The tune is a masterpiece in nuance, note choice, and dynamics. Can’t wait!
Que gran guitarrista, su estilo claro y limpio me recuerda a Jeff beck
Alright, now I am excited. This is what the world has needed. This guy is by far a great and already a legend. Great job.
Hello Matteo, just wanted to say how much I am impressed with your playing and your band is magnificent! As a lifelong musician I can appreciate how much time you spent developing your skills and your style. I absolutely love how you combine so many kinds of music in your playing. It's like a breath of fresh air. While I'm impressed with all your technical ability which is stunning, I am more impressed with your compositional skill and your sense of melody. I am looking forward to following your career in the years to come. I wish you all the best in your musical endeavors!
What a beautiful and heartfelt message John.
I agree.
You hear of people getting knocked on the head and then they are master mathematicians or whatever...
Knock me on the head!
lol
Matteo!!
Wonderful!!
Great masterpiece and wonderful places of Sicily!
Honestly, the beginning sounds like a mix of Steve vi and Eric Johnson, then breaks into something totally different. His sweeps and licks are like butter. Very unique style my friend!
this young lad - is otherworldly!!!...an absolute brilliant composition !!!....the cosmos is his future! ...congrats MM !!!!
This is soooo good! And, for a Mancuso video, that says a lot, because you always really finger that axe a true virtuoso!
Not even close, but he's definitely talented AF.
Guthrie Govan!
He dooes try to get into the Satriani universe...maybe he must take some one on one lessons from the Master
This is what heaven sounds like.
oltre a grande musica (grazie Matteo & C.) grande storia, cultura, architettura, territorio, ecc. (grazie Sicilia ...)
I haven’t been this blown away about a guitar player in decades. Wow!
Questo pezzo mi piace da morire, continuo ad ascoltarlo. E il video, con quei posti meravigliosi, rende onore alla musica. Sei pazzesco, grazie.
Don’t know how many times I’ve listened to this - the video is awesome , what my ears tell me is so astonishing……..😱…spell bound , mesmerized, liquid lightning in the night - whole piece is so beautiful- 🙏thanks you guys - big brilliant music - from Wyoming ❄️🌬❄️🙏🌏✌️🎸❤️🎼🎶👏👏👏👏👏
I just got his debut cd.
It came from Germany & took 6 weeks but worth it.
His acoustic work really shines on Cd.
His technique and song writing are great and shine in Hi Fi
Best debut instrumental guitar cd since Via’s Passion &Warfare IMHO 👍🏻
Man... beyond all his skills, what shocks me most here is his use of the tremolo bar... creative, precise, expressive, amazing!! Bravissimo
Greetings and hugs from Brasil !
Portentoso! Matteo incarna in se molteplici stili chitarristici e una capacità compositiva straordinaria!!
A hauntingly beautiful and otherworldly melody that now has rooted itself in the depths of my mind.
Amazing! Can really here the Jeff Beck influence
Stromg piece… the outro is special very original. A young maestro with decades of fusion masterpieces to come.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't know what are people listening to when they hear guitar players, as for me who love multiple genres, i listen to fluidity of an artist when he/she creates music, encompassing all knowledge learnt, liken to a painter looking at a canvas... hes definitely up there with the old great guitarist yet still young... cool sounding man
The whammy work literally controls my spine .. can't help but sway to it .. Unreal.. So happy I stumbled upon this great band ❤
You know it man
Thank you for this beautiful music with substance
Oh my....
After reading all the comments and listening a few more times....wow...
Definitely a tribute to Jeff Beck...
And the ending sounds like King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra together with Jeff Beck playing on top.
This tune is bringing out big emotions...
Wow... love the magic fingers on the odd time signature...
Very moving, would love to see someone dance to that 👍
"LLM" 🎶
This guy has it all, awesome! who wouldn't be influenced by Beck, great technique and style.
Also shades of Chris Poland's work in Ohm, and very reminiscent of Shawn Lane, e.g. on Michael Shrieve's album "Two Doors".
True master....love the tunes...
Amazing composition, takes back on time , tells a story , colors , dinamics, a trip trough landscapes, well done Matteo , it’s hard to see quite a piece of art on this times .
Bravo maestro .
Gracie
He is what ? Chaos.
Great playing. Reminds me a lot of Chris Poland.
The legacy of guitar player continues 👍
As an outstanding young guitarist, he has the best prerequisites to become an outstanding musician.
Among other things, I see potential for development in the basic rhythmic structure of the pieces of music I have heard so far.
Matteo is my new favourite guitar hero 😍
He is also gay. You two can hook up in grinder
Wow Matteo, this is rad. Come play a show in WA, USA someday!
Left a comment on one of your videos 7 years ago about how blown away I was by your technical ability. 7 years and I'm even more in awe. Beautiful piece of music and probably my favourite solo in a song in years.
Fantastico brano, bellissima atmosfera e grande gusto. Bravo Matteo, onori l'Italia, anche se non lo meriterebbe...
Ambientazione da urlo, trio con un talento spaventoso
Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
Just discovered him today... what on EARTH IS THIS?? Phenomenal playing!!!
Se le nota una influencia de allan holdsworth brutal pero con su propio estilo, una máquina, sin duda de lo mejorcito que hay por ahí a día de hoy
This dropped my jaw to the floor (as a classical guitarist but also keen on jazz, heavy and world music)!!! You got a new fan.
His floyd rose workout seems like Henderson’s style. The music is amazing
On est déjà dans une légende avec Matteo ! Cet ami a réinventé l'instrument, parcequ'au bout de 80 ou 90 ans, on commençait à avoir fait le tour. 🥰
Thank you guys, great music
