Matteo is already a great who deserves to be recognized as having achieved his place among the greats like Jeff who would be pleased with this extraordinary tribute.
I'll give you words. This is an excellent cover of Jeff Beck's "Cause We've Ended as Lovers", one of his signature songs (written by Stevie Wonder!) off _Blow by Blow_ , a platinum-selling guitar album. In NO WAY WHATSOEVER is this as good as the original. You may like Mancuso's tone more than Beck's "pinched cat" sound, but Beck has a more advanced harmonic vocabulary in both jazz and rock idioms, has more dynamics, has wilder bends... he's just better. And there are dozens of live performances where Beck sails beyond the studio recording. Jeff Beck is one of the GOATs. Maybe Matteo Mancuso will get there, but it won't be by doing excellent Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth ("Fred"), and Guthrie Govan ("Fives") covers. Listen to the originals, as Mancuso has, and learn.
Matteo is much more than a copy cat of other greats. He is already in the league of the other greats . His vocabulary is historically on a par with the greats. He doesn't have the body of work at 27 as Holdsworth had but he has pretty much covered all of Beck's vocabulary and then some. Beck's unique technique and sound is his true gift, not diversity of style and depth of harmony. Matteo, is a genius in his own right and hasn't just crawled out from under a rock.
@ Don’t get me wrong, I like all your mentioned top guys + Pat Metheny ++! But this young guy is just 27 and is already able to play at the same or even higher level as the originals! Be honest my friend! I was just loud thinking about his future.
Beautiful Matteo. Incredible playing. Nice touch on the melody. One virtuoso enjoying another. That's what it's all about. 🕉 🎉 Stevie Wonder. Jeff Beck.
This is an incredible homage to Jeff Beck, particularly to the Ronnie Scotts version with Tal Wilkenfeld. The bass player in this has some of the feel that Tal had for the jazz side of this song. Simply brilliant version.
Im thankful that there are young musicians with the attention span necessary to learn this song, much less attempt to make it their own. Good job, Matteo!
Solo gli invidiosi ne parlano male o quelli che amano i chitarristi che vestono in modo strambo con orecchini tatuaggi con capigliature strane e che si atteggiano sempre a super macho e che magari mentre suonano fanno anche pagliacciate. 6:09
Never ceases to surprise me how so many guitarists, when asked to play "classic" Jeff Beck choose this song. Yet it was Jeff doing a very good impression of Roy Buchanan. So classic Jeff is in fact classic Roy Buchanan! And whilst Mateo is undeniably an outstanding player, give me Jeff Beck all day long playing this song.
The volume knob isn't close enough on a Revstar... and Matteo uses his other fingers more than his thumb, so violoning isn't possible in the same way Jeff did. Nobody can really do what Jeff did, anyway. That's why is was one on one.
@@Ebriel0000000 I'm not sure I entirely accept your first point. That volume knob looks reachable to me, and maybe Jeff would have done it, but I only play acoustic so what do I know. I fully accept your second point, and my comment could have done with some more thought before posting. I'm very happy to accept/concede that Matteo isn't cheating. And of course a volume pedal could only really be considered 'cheating' in the context of a Jeff Beck tribute. Thank you for your reply.
@@DavidBritton-nl1wv Yes, you are perfectly right about the volume knob which is closer than i thought (i took another look after your post) but Matteo can't use it with his pinkie anyway. Jeff was really unique in his way of moulding sound with the volume knob and the whammy bar while he played. Sure he used pedals too but needed it far less than most of other guitar players. I discovered BBB and Wired in 77 (i was 13) and since then not a single day without listening to something by Jeff (same for Jaco, since 77 too) : both were my heroes, even if i can admire many other musicians. Thank you for your message, David... and sorry for my ugly english :-)
@@Ebriel0000000 It was the same two albums for me. I must be a bit older, I think I was turned on to BBB not long after it came out when I was about 17 and Wired some while later, hazy recollection. P.S: Have a happy new year.
Absolutely incredible! Jeff is smiling somewhere.....
Stevie Wonder is still alive.
I am sure he loves it if he heard it.
Ok, that was the perfect balance of playing with feel and dynamics and NOT totally shredding endlessly. Just perfect!
Love this man's playing. He understands who the greatest guitarists are and were. He's definitely one of them. Great job.
Stay humble, that's the philosophy of the music!
Beautiful tribute to one of the greatest of all time, Jeff Beck. Thank you Matteo Mancuso, who's shaping the world of guitar yet again.
not one of....the and its not even close
Matteo is just ridiculously talented. I'm blown away every time I hear him. His bass player is a beast also.

3 geni Italiani, non c'è altro da aggiungere!
Just insane.
And the fact he plays always with his friends, biiiiiig respect sir, who does not change his crew every day.
Tx for the goosbumps 🥰
WOW, I cried when Jeff died, and I cried hearing you play this.
Thank you Matteo, you will be legend too.
Drew, thank you for sharing!
So far, the only other human I've seen that can actually cover a Jeff Beck song. On a Yamaha, no less! Outstanding!
La verità e che si mitizzano sempre gli stessi brand di chitarre. Poi uno come Matteo fa suonare bene qualsiasi chitarra. 😊
Gary Moore did a wonderful version of Beck's "Shape of Things" 👍
Brand-monkey delusions die hard, broseph.
Best version ever.
Its a call and answer the only cover I have heard that understands the simple dynamic, soft and hard. Brilliant. Superb.
I find no words for the grade of this performance. And he is totally relaxed and humble! My Hero and will become the GOAT!

Fabulous artist. & has a lot to say.
He's already miles ahead of what we all learned in the last 50 yrs! Remarkable.
One of the only guitarists that can get me all emotional when he shreds. Matteo is both a master technician and a master artist!
Beautiful Matteo. Incredible playing. Nice touch on the melody.

Stevie Wonder. Jeff Beck.
Matteo is basically the most accomplished guitarist on Planet Earth right now. He has set the bar at a stratospheric level...

What a player...awesome
He’s unstoppable….way to go, Mateo!😊

I'm proud he is a italian boy ! It's so difficult in Italy to study music, in particular modern music
Beck used to play with his finger tips too! R.I.P. Jeff Beck.
Pur rispettando il ricordo di Beck, Matteo con le sue dita riesce a fare cose anche molto più complicate.
👏👏👏
