Jenny, my Mom passed away in 2008 and she did a lot of quilting, I didn't have any interest at that time , but about 10 months ago I watched one of your videos and ordered the material supplies and made my first quilt, everyone said that Mom would of been proud of me, well since the first, I have made 3 more quiltsand now I am going to do this one , I am now retired and this is my hobby thanks enjoy every video
just one more comment ... love. love. LOVE this. I got all my patriotic fabrics. I've been cutting and sewing the last 2 days. I can't wait to snowball and actually make a block! this tutorial seriously struck a cord with me. i'm a babe of the Vietnam era. my father enlisted. came home. and then there was me. my family has an extensive history of military. I adore the flag. and this block is perfect for that.
Love Love this...I have red white and blues and patriotic fabrics for a quilt for a great grandson. He requested these colors...the white star will look great in it!!
Good morning Jenny - you have such innovative ideas that not only are easy for all levels of quilters, but are beautiful to boot. Love waking up on Friday mornings to see what your latest creation will be. Tack så mycket.
I also have been sewing from a young age, made my pants when i was in high school, still can’t believe i did that! But remember watching the very few sewing shows once they came on, but back then it was cutting little fussy cuts, you have changed quilting, you make it easy for me and beginners, bravo! Love your tutorials, thanks to your son dreaming up the idea to have you do tutorials, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I just finished a quilt top using your tutorial and jelly roll. I used two jelly rolls and made a large 4 block by 4 block quilt. My granddaughter, who is two, calls it the picnic quilt. The colors really pop in this fabric line and is so cheerful. The blocks went together so quickly I was almost disappointed. Only thing I had to pay attention to was putting the white squares on: I always put the one on the left corner first. That way if I got distracted I could get it oriented to put the 2nd corner on. Thank you for such a fun, easy and quick pattern.
Love this and I think it would be beautiful in red white and blue. I have 4 grand children in the army. what a beautiful tribute to them. So proud of them.
4 years ago I found this channel and began watching out of curiosity. Today I'm watching again while I am hand quilting my fist quilt. I'm doing Under the Stars. It's beautiful. Thanks for teaching me.
Neat and easy design, thanks MSQC! You say one jelly roll makes 8 star block 9-patches. So, if you substitued a whole 6.5" square for the centres of each block [in either solid colour(s) that match your prints, or yardage of one or two of the prints you like best from the jelly roll collection of fabrics], then one jelly roll would yield 9 star blocks... which means you could have a nice-sized square lap quilt in a 3x3 star block layout. Bet it'd look terrific, and then the stars would *really* pop! ~Diana from Toronto
I watched this video all the way thru. It is awesome but I think what I loved the most was Jenny. She makes it sound so easy and her instructions are very clear and concise. Thank you so very much. You inspire me!
Can you please show a picture of how you placed red white and blue? Did you make stars of gold to stand out? Thanks...got rails sewn, looking for way to surround a panel with this block
Love the simplicity of this quilt. Would make a great charity quilt that would brighten anyone's day! Have been hooked on Jenny's tutorials since a friend recommended them several years ago. She always seems to find an easier way to do things.
I made one. It was quick and fun. I used fleece. I’ve not quilted yet. I am slow about quilting. I take it out and look at and thank God for you Jenny for showing these tutorials where I can understand. And make them fast and easy. That’s just what I look for in crafting and quilting. I have always love things I can make for others. I appreciate when someone gives me something homemade. I know it takes a lot of time and love behind it all. So! I know you and your family have love all in your hearts. Thank you again. I live at DeKalb,Mississippi. You tube will be closes to seeing you. I feel I have always known you.i have been every since begun.
I have been sewing since I was 16.......now I'm just about 63.....I still have my Pfaff from 1982. and a Bernina. I had to work 2 jobs at a time as a single mom, but always dreamt of quilting when I got older. These videos are so wonderful. Thank you Jenny for simplifying and inspiring me!
About a week before you did this tutorial I purchased some fabric that looks like tie-dye. After watching this tutorial I knew what I wanted to use that fabric for finally. I finished the block, pressed it, and when I returned to the table my daughter was holding the block (1st one and only one at the time). She said "Mine?". She has helped me with every project so far and never asked for anything. Yes it is hers - I tell you all this so you know, you are not only affecting my life but the life of my children and friends. I am able to give your blessing to others - THANK YOU!!! Oh Yes, I had to send you this poem. Please, take a moment to read it - This is what you are doing with every single thing you share! Love the bright colours. The blocks in the top left corner remind me of pencils, so that is another alternative. Use the black for the pencil points. Thanks Jenny.
I am making this quilt currently, to keep from having to use my seam ripper too much I have started to pin. When making a quilt at home ( not a tutorial ) of course you are sewing and cutting all the fabric for your quilt at once. I laid out all the 3 pieced squares and then pinned the folded triangles to the corners. Some how I would still end up with a odd one going the wrong direction. To prevent this I have now used a 2" straight pin in each 6" square. I put a pin in the middle of all the 6" squares within my big block going the same direction. That way once I take them to my sewing machine they won't get turned the wrong way. I hope this helps. Thanks Jenny for your great tutorials I love watching and learning!
I realize this is a year old video, but just saw it. Jenny, you do such a great job of breaking down what looks like its a complicated quilt to make it be SEW simple to make. I've seen since 4-H as a young girl, but I'm a total NEWBIE to quilting, but I think this is something I could easily do. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Awesome! Simple yet complicated (for me). I have some serious pattern and color challenges, but I'm going to give this one a whirl with some precuts for sure!
I always use those little extra bits for bindings. I hate throwing away material so I just keep leftover bits in a drawer and I can usually pick out enough for a binding for anything. When the drawer gets full I make crazy pot holders and give them to the family. They love it because they can usually pick out materials from something I've made for them.
Another great tutorial ! Thanks Jenny & crew at MSQC ! I am in the process of making the star ( baby ) QUILT FROM last week and now this week"s tutorial is even better. Great Job ( although you are making my fabric habit bigger and bigger every WEEK !
You have some really creative minds to come up with so many different quilt patterns. I might make this one into a quilt of valor and send it overseas to a soldier from my State. By the way, I recently had my very first quilt quilted by your company and I want to thank you for doing such a beautiful job. My husband is so proud of it.
Thanks for sharing this video. I just start a quilting course on Thursday just gone. The first block I've made was a fence rail block. It just goes to show by simply adding the stars how it give the blocks another dimension. I will keep a look out for more of your videos, thanks again.
I found that a got a better variety of blocks if I cut the strips in half before sewing the strip sets. I could mix them up much better and the sets were straighter. Love your tutorials, I've got a growing list of "must dos".
I am an intermediate quilter and I could do this! This is a very cute pattern and would make a lovely wall hanging, too. I will have to try this soon! I love those bright colors with the white!
Love your videos Jenny. To use up the eight blocks you could make up a central block with applique, embroidery etc and set the other eight around it to create a 3 x 3 quilt.
I'm making it. I'm having great fun. My fabrics are Yoko Saito's so it's a little obscure but I hope it turns out great. Thank you for you excellent tutorials. You are an inspiration for many of us.
Love watching your video's. You just put those blocks together like it was nothing. I love this pattern, but I was thinking how I could make this a red, white and blue quilt, and then you said that. lol Great minds ..... Keep thinking up new patterns for us! I made 7 quilts this winter from you inspiring me that I can do it.
I can't wait to make this for my daughter in the adorable yellow and blue motif for Down syndrome colors!!! I'm going to use the "scraps' for a pillow case or mini quilt. I love that you're using the 1/2 square triangles from snowballing the corners for something. Gotta love mini quilts from fabric that would have wound up in the trash can!!!
I did the math and with using a solid block in the middle that matches the star points, you save one fence rail block per larger block which gives you enough fence rail blocks to make another whole 9 patch block. This gives you more options for lay out. 3x3 is what i was looking at but I have two jelly rolls, so I'm going to have 18 blocks total. Annabelle is in a Queen bed so that will make her quilt a nice size.
Darn it, Jenny! Every time I watch one of your tutorials, I have to add another quilt to my bucket list. I love your enthusiasm and the way you make quilting so easy.
You probably don't read these but just had to tell you I am on a quilting page on fb and a lady asked what TH-cam videos does everyone watch so she can learn... literally within minutes of her post everyone said Jenny from the Msqc ... it was awesome ( I grew up in Hollywood , famous people don't phase me, but I told my husband if I ever got to meet jenny I would totally geek out lol )
We certainly do read them, Monique... and we're glad to hear we've helped so many people with their quilting! We hope that you really will geek out when you meet Jenny, too!
What a cute quilt. I love it. I was just thinking to myself that I wonder what it would look like with sashing between the squares and then you mentioned it! How funny. Keep the videos coming. I anxiously wait to see what you are going to come up with next. Thanks so much!
Love this tutorial!!! Also it was fabulous to meet you this last week while we were at the retreat center! You were so gracious to sit and talk with us for a while.
I am making this as my first quilt for my husband and our 13th Wedding Anniversary. We try to do the Traditional gifts if possible, as it shows we are thinking of the other person. This year, is the Fabric Anniversary, and I am having a blast. Any leftover Fabric I will be making him a set of Pajama pants as well. I am however alternating the stars on each line with a plain block in between. (2 stars, then 1 star, 2 stars, then 1.)
I finally finished this design to give to my husband for our Anniversary. It ended up a 3 x 4 design. Star block, plain, star , then I alternate the rows. I also only used 4 colors. The white for the star, and the rail colors were gold, green and blue. 🌟🌫🌟 🌫🌟🌫 🌟🌫🌟 🌫🌟🌫
I am making one right now.....I abe gotton all my extra strips that I used in baby quilts or pinks......I think I will applique an elephant in the corner and a star in the other.........wheels are turning....THANK YOU >>>>>>>>>
I just loved this quilt Jenny, I made one with a Lewis & Irene Jelly Roll from their Terrific Twenties range called Vintage Circus and made my stars in a right yellow. It has turned out so nice and was recently featured in the British Patchwork & Quilting Magazine I love watching your videos and have learnt so much and have used several of your designs. Thank you again from Bev in the UK
Great idea!! I'd like to see it done with fabrics that are the same in each block instead of a jelly roll where all the fabrics are different. This one makes a cute kids quilt but one of sets that are the same might be nice for an adult or a display quilt in the living room. Thanks for sharing your time and ideas with us! I really love your channel!!!
What a great way to be closer to your mother, Barbera! I'm sure she would be very proud of you. Keep up the great work!
I love the snowballed rails for a split rail star! Next attempt! Thank you

Dear Jenny, you are such an inspiration. Please know you are appreciated.Hugs, Dottie
Thank you so much for your kind words! Hugs to you also!
I did this block today. Came out very nice. Thank u. Making a baby QuickTime. Wish I can show u. !

Ha! I made all my cloths too. Being a farm girl parents couldn't afford much for five kids. But I was in middle school and looked good. ☺❤

That is a beautiful idea. Please thank your grandkids for their service from the MSQC team.
As a beginner Quilter, I find that your hoe to videos are so easy to follow. Thank you for posting.
This looks like so much fun! Jenny gets my creative juices going.
Each of those blocks would make a very pretty cushion cover front, too. How lovely! Xx
That is a wonderful idea!!
The royal blue cardigan looks fantastic, also the quilt
All Ur tutorials are mind-blowing

You're so sweet, Rebecca. Thanks for watching!
Thank you I have a bunch already shown up from the previous project thank you so much
This is my favorite. I think I may use the red, white, and blue! Thank you for making simple look detailed and complicated.
Can you please show a picture of how you placed red white and blue? Did you make stars of gold to stand out? Thanks...got rails sewn, looking for way to surround a panel with this block
Nice to have a simple block that looks so great. Thanks Jenny and team.

It's wonderful that you have been sewing all this time, Mary. Not everyone is lucky enough to enjoy it and learn to sew from such a young age.
Perfect, Jenny. Just love your style of teaching. Great job.
Thank you!
Missouri Star Quilt Company your teaching and pattern are the best amount all ……I ever seeing
I love it. Thanks for the easy method. I watch you all the time. You have an easy voice to listen too and give great instructions
I'm loving it! You could also use this for all of those left over jelly roll strips from other projects.
Absolutely!

The Quilt of Holes (1929)
As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls.
Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles; an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.
But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in every day life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.
I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened.
My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.
Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded to me to rise.
My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn’t had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt with in my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me.
And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was.
I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light.
An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with wide eyes.
Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, “Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles. Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than there was of you.”
May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through!!
I very much enjoyed this story and have saved it for future reference.
Thank you MSQ team for taking an common pattern and updating it. I would like to see more videos where a common pattern is updated to become a totally new pattern. Thank you for the great idea for a Quilt of Valor. Take care...
We are working on a few more videos like that so stay tuned!
That would make a lovely runner in reds, whites and blues for 4th July.
Thanks Jenny and the crew of Missouri Star Quilt Co. for your easy and exciting inspiration. Our guild is hooked on you!
Such a cheerful quilt! Reminds me of a party!
Another easy to make but effective quilt. Thanks Jenny.
Love the bright colours. The blocks in the top left corner remind me of pencils, so that is another alternative. Use the black for the pencil points. Thanks Jenny.
That is a great idea!! I hope you create something like that!
This is really quite cute. I think I'll add it to my list of "quilts to make".
I am making this quilt currently, to keep from having to use my seam ripper too much I have started to pin. As you were making it, my mind went to the Quilts of Valor project. Love the white star. Always look forward to Fridays.
Can you post finished QOV with this block please?
Brilliant!!!! I love that it's scrappy without a whole lot of background--just enough to add interest! You scored again, Jenny!!!!!
I used your pattern and made my first quilt for my new quilt shop. Love how it turned out!
I realize this is a year old video, but just saw it. Jenny, you do such a great job of breaking down what looks like its a complicated quilt to make it be SEW simple to make. Love that you try not to waste any! If you can make something with the scraps that's always the best!
AW!! Very cool block.Jenny! keep up the great work ! I'll keep watching.
love this sewing the throw away together and using them later.
love all the tutorials - Now if I could just make them all ....
Another great tutorial ! Thanks Jenny & crew at MSQC !
I am in the process of making the star ( baby ) QUILT FROM last week and now this week"s tutorial is even better.
Great Job ( although you are making my fabric habit bigger and bigger every WEEK !
That seems to be a recurring problem for myself and other quilters too! :)
LOL....I have decided to make the Star baby Quilt into a big quilt ( twin size probably ) for my grandson's B-day gift.
Love the red/white/blue suggestion!
Such a cute pattern, I NEED a jelly roll NOW! Jenny, you brighten every Friday morning. Big quilting love from England ❤
We have a fantastic selection of 2.5" strips! Feel free to check em out! :)
You have some really creative minds to come up with so many different quilt patterns. I might make this one into a quilt of valor and send it overseas to a soldier from my State. By the way, I recently had my very first quilt quilted by your company and I want to thank you for doing such a beautiful job. My husband is so proud of it.
That is such a generous idea! I feel like that soldier would really appreciate your efforts.
I love your tutorials the fence rail star quilt is my favorite!! Helena
Love this quilt!! A great stash buster too!!! Thank you Jenny for another wonderful tutorial..... Have a great day!!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this video. I just start a quilting course on Thursday just gone. The first block I've made was a fence rail block. It just goes to show by simply adding the stars how it give the blocks another dimension. I will keep a look out for more of your videos, thanks again.

You are so good at explaining quilt blocks! Thank you so much I
Love your videos Jenny. To use up the eight blocks you could make up a central block with applique, embroidery etc and set the other eight around it to create a 3 x 3 quilt.
Love that idea!
Thank you!!! I love Missouri Quilt.
This one block was fun using my scraps!
Oh Jenny, this is so awesome...will make this one up today!!!
Oh I hope you share photos with us on Facebook and Instagram!
I will post one on Instagram...
I'm making it. I'm having great fun. My fabrics are Yoko Saito's so it's a little obscure but I hope it turns out great. Thank you for you excellent tutorials. You are an inspiration for many of us.
Love watching your video's. You just put those blocks together like it was nothing. I made 7 quilts this winter from you inspiring me that I can do it.
Wow sounds really mice
Nice
I am so thrilled that you have found inspiration through our tutorials! We would love to see some of your creations on Facebook and Instagram!

Jennie you are such a good teacher
Jenny, I talk about you and your quilts so much that my husband thinks you are my friend! I say that yes, she is my friend!
That's right! And quilty friends are the best friends! ;)

I love your enthusiasm and the way you make quilting so easy.
love love love this one
Thank you!

I was searching for a fun jelly roll quilt, love this pattern. Looks so bright with the white stars. Your tutorials are informative and fun to watch.
Beautiful little quilt, and I love the pattern. Thank you!
You probably don't read these but just had to tell you I am on a quilting page on fb and a lady asked what TH-cam videos does everyone watch so she can learn... literally within minutes of her post everyone said Jenny from the Msqc ... it was awesome
( I grew up in Hollywood , famous people don't phase me, but I told my husband if I ever got to meet jenny I would totally geek out lol )
We certainly do read them, Monique... and we're glad to hear we've helped so many people with their quilting! We hope that you really will geek out when you meet Jenny, too!
Thanks so much Jenny.
What a cute quilt. I love it. I was just thinking to myself that I wonder what it would look like with sashing between the squares and then you mentioned it! How funny. Keep the videos coming. I anxiously wait to see what you are going to come up with next. Thanks so much!
I love to put sashing in because it changes the quilt completely, it is just so fun!
Love this tutorial!!! Also it was fabulous to meet you this last week while we were at the retreat center! You were so gracious to sit and talk with us for a while.
Jenny loves getting the chance to talk with fellow quilters. We're so glad you could visit!
ALso great for scraps!!!! Thanks Jennifer! 😊😊😊
i just love your quilt ideas. you make them seem so easy.
Correction, please! I am left handed like Jenny
I love this! It is so cute. I'm a real fan of star quilts and this one is just adorable. Thanks Jenny!

I love your quilts and your videos. I made a memory quilt using the love notes. Everyone loves it. Thanks for your videos.
Very Beautiful thank you 4 sharing you explained it so well
I could use all my jelly roll strips leftover from other projects to make a truly scrappy quilt! Love the video!
So stinking cute!!! Love it!! Thanks for sharing!! Blessings!!
love the cute quilt... thanks again for all you do for us....
Thank you for coming back each week!
Love this quilt. Thanks Jenny.
Great tutorial. I love how mine came out.
love this! I've already cut my strips and squares. can't wait to make my first block (I am using red/white/blue)!
How fun! We hope to see a photo when it's complete!
Love it. Such a simple change creates a marvelous quilt . Thanks Jennie
wow can't wait to get into stash to make this.. thank you so much..
