What a lovely quilt. I really like that you can make it any size you want to. A suggestion - although your enthusiasm is fantastic and very contagious, it would be great if a little more time be allowed or if you slowed down a little as I started to feel rushed. I’m an experienced sewer however a newer quilter may feel a little overwhelmed with how quick you went through the steps.
I turned mine into a quilt of valor by using patriotic colors, increasing the number if borders, larger border size and adding 16 block cornerstones on one of the borders. It turned out great!
Jenny, I fell asleep in my recliner listening to your videos on autoplay. I dreamed we had a huge sewing party at your house, and we all got drunk. We trashed it! Yet you calmly kept teaching, (because your videos were still running), and we helped you clean it up in the morning. LOL It was a very very fun party, thanks for having it!!
This is so cute! I'm already coming up with variations on the original design. I'm going to make this and put it in my emergency baby quilt supply. You just never know when someone is going to need one... co worker, neighbor, friend, someone at church, or even friend of my kids.
Oh and one other thing, I make my friends kitty mats from your designs. Normally I make the disappearing hourglass 1 and 2 for kitties but this would be great too, I'll just down size it a bit. I made the hourglass ones a bit bigger, they finished at 16". Perfect for kitty sleeping mats.
How on earth did I miss this?!? I’m thinking I’ll make one of each size (matching) for my grand & greatgrand. Love your & Sarah’s idea! Thank you for sharing!!!
Very cute! Tell your daughter I like the BIG one as well. And you are right, this baby quilt should go together quickly. Thanks for doing these tutorials.
I'm planning to make these for a few of babies due later in the year. Was thinking of cutting the strips in half before sewing together to make it more scrappy and really get different designs. Thank you so much for showing this!
I made the scrappy stars quilt for my grand daughter some time ago. I had so much fun doing that, I think I will do this larger version for myself. I can really put a dent in my stash with this, leaving space available for new fabric! Thanks Jenny
I made this baby block quilt, it took me longer than it did you I"m sure but it turned out really good and I was so proud of it. Thanks for the pattern, love your patterns and tutorials
I think these would make great little quilts for newborns in the hospital. Not a really huge time investment and an absolutely adorable gift for baby and mom.
Absolutely!! I bet these would be an awesome item to donate to hospitals also. Maybe even make them as wheelchair lap quilts. I know several VA homes and hospitals appreciate those. :)
I think your videos are great I am an avid crocheter and knitter but i am now learning how to sew and I want to learn as much as I can im not great yet but have made a couple things so thanks for the awesome videos!
Ok, so...i think you should rename this pattern...Apache Star (A Patchy Star). This is a brilliant pattern...making it this weekend. You're the bomb, Jenny!
Thank you for this block! I’ve already made 2 and I’ve just started quilting. I finished a medium sized quilt last week and now I have the bug. Thank you for such great instructions. It really helps a beginner! jcj
So cute...this will be one I will make...I'm just finishing my King size Coin with Pazzazz which you taught me to make and I love......love ya. Les from Florence, Oregon
Another amazing tutorial ....jenny you are ( and you family too ) just amazing. I loved Sarah's quilt !! Natalie has some great ideas too! This is going to be something I make for my grandchildren!!
This reminds me of the one you did with 16 squares in the middle and legs that made stars of it. I made a quilt from that during the winter but still have to get the backing and have it quilted. It's too big for me to handle on my domestic machine. This one is a good project for using up scraps for the center blocks, too. I have plenty of those!
I've just made this as my first quilt. it was fun.so many things wrong with it and my seem ripper became my best friend. but I love it. cat quilt next. great tutorials thank you.
I love, love, love colorful quilts and this one is perfect! I can see blue star legs for boys or pink for girls. When I make this I think I'm going to use two star blocks and make it more of a crib quilt. Thank you for such a great tutorial!
Jenny, you are so Awesome, thanks so much! I am actually trying the Cathedral the way Colleen from Fon's and Porter's did it and thus far, I have only done four. Thanks for all the tutorials. For Fall, I have a large Hearts block quilt for a friend, and the Grandma's fan for a gift as well, and last but not least just a signature quilt, and Megan Wilson from Needle in the Haystack created a design and I did her quilt for a Teenager for Christmas. I will be busy in the Fall!
Absolutely love this!! I'm always making smaller baby quilts for charity - and this one really is a fast and easy and such a pretty quilt!! Thank you for the tutorial!
Really cute and an easy way to figure out the math for the "star legs" I was making some on a quilt and it took me forever to get my measurements right!
Love this...I was just getting ready to search for an easy pattern for two baby quilts...for a friend who's having twins! (Found it!!) I can use up a lot of strips from a single jelly roll and they will match but be different, just like the twins will be! Thanks so much...you really make everything so easy! xoxo
I made that quilt but with different material, it turned out great and I had such a great time making it. I would send you a picture but I don't see anyway to send it, thanks I have actually made several things from your tutorials, thanks again
Beautiful quilt!! Great timing as I'm looking to make a baby quilt!! PS - Made your "x" quilt pattern and it looks amazing!! Made a baby blanket using 12 "x's" with a light blue color fabric and white background.
Beautiful quilt. I would also love to see a video on the quilt in the background of your photo, the quilt with the gray and white background triangles on point and the 16 piece all colored squares. It is so bright and colorful. Thank you for all your great videos.
I have many many 2.5" squares that I didn't know what to do with but got them when I bought a Layer Cake cause I thought they were cute. Now I know what to do with them.
At the end of the video, Jenny is pictured with a quilt behind her...it has the 16 patch squares and they are surrounded with HSTs in light grey and white. Is there, or will there be, a tutorial for that? I just love it!
Love the quilt and your tutorial. I have lots of left - over strips from other projects, and plan on making this quilt. Any chance of getting yardage and pattern for a crib size or lap size quilt? The middle part of the star isn't hard to calculate, but the size of the 1/2 square triangles must change, and I have absolutely no idea on how to calculate that, unless we just add more completed star blocks?? Thanks for all the tutorials. I have almost completed a Summer in the Park quilt from following Natalie's tutorial. I made it larger than the tutorial, so am having it finished on a long arm. I started quilting a little over a year ago, and have made 8 quilts. I have pieced and quilted them all, and have loved the process. Thank you for helping me learn to quilt. It is something I have wanted to do for a very long time, but waited until I retired. Your daily specials are especially deadly!! I have accumulated quite a stash this year from them!!!
Can you do some behind the scenes videos? You mentioned your own studio and the filming studio, show us your studios and your shops! Behind the scenes!!
Thanks for the great suggestion! We do some of this on our Facebook Live videos every Tuesday afternoon. You can check them out with the link below. We'll keep this in mind for TH-cam as well though. :) facebook.com/pg/QuiltingDeals/videos/?ref=page_internal
So each one of those white squares are the same size ( 8 inches ) as the star legs right ? Just wanted to make sure before I start cutting these. ( I am making 3 of them ! ) I am also going to contact the Foster Care program in our city. I wonder if children in foster care would enjoy getting a quilt? I have also thought about making big tote bags for foster children as I have heard that sometimes these poor kids have no suitcase and are carrying their belongings to the foster placement in garbage bags.....if that's true, that's so sad.
Not sure what happened -- my squares ended up being 7.5 inches, so I made my leg pieces to measure 7.5 inches, also my corner squares. Lo and behold! I came up short. Not sure why. Seemed so easy -- leave it to me to make it difficult. LOL!
Could someone tell me how many yards of fabric I will need for the backing if I make this quilt using 6 stars? I want to make this as a gift for my gardening helper's high school graduation next year. Thank you!
Hi Joyce! That's difficult to say exactly without knowing how wide of a border you plan to have, etc. I've linked to a post that will walk you through how to easily figure the backing needed though. I hope this helps! blog.missouriquiltco.com/how-many-yards-do-i-need-backing/

So worth staying up late for!!!!
Aww, thanks for watching Christine!!

When I sewed my four strips together I didn't come up with 9" mine came out to 7.5" I used a 1/4" seam. What happened?
Did you use 2 inch strips instead of 2 1/2?
Donna Perr
I think your videos are great I am an avid crocheter and knitter but i am now learning how to sew and I want to learn as much as I can im not great yet but have made a couple things so thanks for the awesome videos!

I've just made this as my first quilt. it was fun.so many things wrong with it and my seem ripper became my best friend. but I love it. cat quilt next. great tutorials thank you.
This would make a cute 4th of July quilt or wall hanging.

Hi Jenny, I love this little quilt. Can you also do a tutorial on Sara's big quilt?
I like t sew little squares together!
Восхитительно!!! Подписалась на Ваш канал…Привет и наилучшие пожелания из России.
brain bomb, I have three neighbors pregnant with boys, perfect gift!
At the end of the video, Jenny is pictured with a quilt behind her...it has the 16 patch squares and they are surrounded with HSTs in light grey and white. Is there, or will there be, a tutorial for that? I just love it!
são tantas ideias lindas...

Great video !! Can you make a Strata Star Block and a Card Trick Block please Jenny !?
Jenny - what is the color line/designer of Natalie’s quilt with the nine patches? Gorgeous!!
Hello Mrs. Jenny what thread do you recommend using on everyday projects? I'm a huge fan, I love your tutorials and enjoy laughing with you!
Thanks I will wear out tutorial for binding, but will try again to get it right.

great!
I would love to make the larger quilt your daughter made. Any chance we can get that pattern as well?
I want you to know i have done the quilt top like this just need to add filler, backing, quilting and binding. Thank you.
Would i cut my corner squares at 8.5" ?
adorei muito mas, também gostei do ferro de passar que levanta sozinho, muito legal.
YOUR center section would have look cute with the seams off set .... more wonky but just as cute.
How much yardage for the backing and how big is the quilt? Thanks for another great video!!!
3 yds. See the link at the top, "Get your supplies here . . .".
Yes, thank you Karla! Here is the link with everything you will need: www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/baby-block-quilt/index.html?Social&
Come much is the Babylock Jazz? Don't worry about scaring me with the price - I can take it!! (I hope!)
So each one of those white squares are the same size ( 8 inches ) as the star legs right ? Just wanted to make sure before I start cutting these. ( I am making 3 of them ! )

Yes, it should be the same size as your half square triangle blocks. I hope this helps!
I m trying to take all this in
Jenny I made one-off those!
What kind and weight the ad is Jenny using ? Going to make these. Thanks
The pattern called for (4) 2-1/2 strips, but the quilt is made with many more prints than that. That's an awful lot of left overs;)
Can you explain what size blocks you needed for the star legs again? It went by fast and I'm not sure.
Not sure what happened -- my squares ended up being 7.5 inches, so I made my leg pieces to measure 7.5 inches, also my corner squares. Lo and behold! I came up short. Not sure why. Seemed so easy -- leave it to me to make it difficult. LOL!
If I want to make quilt with 4 of these large stars, what would the total yardage be for everything? Just multiply by 4?
passei a assistir todos seus vídeos aqui do Brasil... só não entendo tudo...
Jenny what is the finished size of the inside block? Before you add the legs? I'm confused by the 9 inch measurement "from the seam out"
Could someone tell me how many yards of fabric I will need for the backing if I make this quilt using 6 stars? I want to make this as a gift for my gardening helper's high school graduation next year. Thank you!

I was just going to use the 5.5" border as used on the baby quilt. Thank you for posting the link, I do appreciate it!
