      Spain has looked off this tournament so I think we have the chance to get the gold. Possibly silver if they can find their form against Brazil today.

      I am worried that they are tired and Brazil had a fantastic strategic performance vs. the Spain team that was near their best they could field…PLUS- there is the MARTA FINAL NATIONAL MATCH FACTOR. We need to score first so we aren’t chasing the game…

    Always enjoy hearing Stu's opinions on the game. He has this knack for making me think I should be better as a fan.

    It's been a long time since the USMNT won a game against a strong team. Like a really long time.

      The friendly win over Morocco a couple years ago doesn't look half bad, but other than that it has been a while. The fall off of Mexico over the past few years has covered up a lot of flaws.

    If you aren't starting for your team, in Europe, or in MLS, you can not be called in for senior camp. Being match ready and in form is paramount. I definitely like some of our young players, but they must be starting matches.
    Matt Turner has to get his club situation figured out quickly. Slonina is getting better quickly, and Schulte is about to make the the jump to Europe

    The mens team roster, have they lived most of their lives in America?

    • @campfirefootball
      @campfirefootball 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, and that's why they are on the national team while players who came up through the youth system in the US have not developed into top talent.

      Musuh and Balogun were born in the US while their parents were on vacation, and that is the only connection they have to the US. Johnny was born in NJ to Brazilian parents who were working there, but moved back shortly after his birth. Robinson has two English parents and raised there, but his father worked in the US long enough to naturalize though he eventually returned, but can still get his son a passport. Weah was more of a citizen of the world as the son of George, but was in PSG's academy at 14. Tillman, Lund, and Carters-Vickers have an American parent, but raised abroad. Others like Sonora, Pefok, Dest, Maloney, and Dietz have been called in relatively recently despite not having lived in the US much if at all, and fall into one of the categories mentioned earlier. The US Cricket team literally had more members actually live in the US for a significant portion of their life than the soccer team when there is no one claiming cricket as being a sport with any sort of hold in the country. That said, given the poor results of the team of recruited ringers, you can either read it as an indictment of the domestic pool or the failure of US Soccer at shirt scouting. Either way, not great.

    I Bring this to You Alexi as a subscriber to multiple Soccer podcast: The answer to the money for a top flight coach is simple! Go to MLS owners and “tax” them $200,000 for the U.S. Federation and split the money down the middle between Hayes for the women and the other half add to whatever “budget” the USA Federation has for a men’s coach for a 20 month contract! The MLS will profit because their status will go up at TV contract negotiations and soccer will have a legitimate chance to move into a serious conversation as a top 3 sport behind American Football! How stupid are these pundits to not float this idea? 200K is nothing to these owners vs. the incredible upside on a investment if we can get past the 2nd round in 2026 WC at HOME! Please God Mention IT!!!

    I believe that US has to think about the definition of talent. None of players are top players.
