Thanks for such a comprehensive review of the Aygo, especially pointing out the little but important differences compared to the french versions. certainly made my mind up as to the one to go for. Sadly here in Britain we dont get such detailed reviews. You mentioned you normally review rather more exotic stuff, so thanks for not showing prejudice against the everyday cars.
i am so excited that i am one of the first 1000 people to drive aygo 2016 model... it is very amazing and such a beautiful small, portable and reliable car. i own 0ne now thank you Toyota
Dies ist mit Abstand die beste Präsentation des Toyota Aygo! Ein unaufgeregter, sachlicher, kompetenter und nicht zuletzt sympathischer Moderator. Danke, Autogefühl 😉👍🏼
I really appreciate car reviews in which you get a detailed impression of the car while someone is driving around with it or using different camera angles for showing the exterior and the interior like in this one. I am also keen on watching more reviews with such small cars like the Toyota Aygo because this will be very helpful for my buying decision.
@minnie saab: Yes, there is an automated manual transmission. Most of these arent too good, we didnt test one yet though. I would probably only go for an auto gear box when there is an automatic converter or a dual clutch
I've test driven the X-Clusive version with X-Shift transmission and I think the gearbox was good. I barely felt any gear shifts. Really liked the car. Couldn't stop smiling. I was also surprised how comfortable it was. (comparing to the second generation Yaris) =) Thank you for telling about the little things that reduce the noise. I was wondering what those things were.
Recently bought an modern AYGO X-Business for a family member in a Toyota Red Deal for relative small money. I think it's the best small A-segment car when it comes up to fuel consumption, reliability and longlivety build by the best car manufacturer in the world. There's nothing wrong with it. Three most important components of a car. Of course you should like the car, which the family member does a lot and is very exicted to say goodby to the old Agila and drive on in the AYGO on 9th of September.
I've just watched Autogefüel's own review of the Citroen C1. It does indeed have sound deadening under the bonnet and the same bonnet catch. It also has the same interior with the same quality. The engine and gearbox are the same on all 1 litre cars regardless of brand. And, the Citroen has rear headrests. Why the apparent bias against the French brands?
Good review. Very detailled. That's what I like about Autogefühl. The only point I don't agree with is your statement about the revmeter. A good driver doesn' t just use it to avoid too high revs. The revmeter helps you to shift at the most fuelsaving revs. And to use the area of the motor with its highest torque. Thanks for the great videos of cars in the small and mini car segment.
An excellent in-depth review, which provides a lot of useful information. In the UK, I note that a space saver spare wheel is not on the options list but can be ordered as an accessory. I would have preferred it to be standard, or better still full sized like in the VW UP.
Last week I ordered the top version of AYGO (xcite), here in Britain the speed limit is something like 120 km ph, and there are cameras everywhere, does that mean AYGO is more than enough to drive even on the highways ? it seems so, but I will never know the exact answer until I drive, my dealer said I can switch it with Yaris after one or two years If I don't like AYGO. I will keep everyone updated with my experience. Anyways, thanks for the video, it's the best and the most detailed one on TH-cam.
This car does not have a Toyota engine (strictly speaking) but a Daihatsu engine. 100% Daihatsu developed. It was developed for the Cuore, imo the most practical and smart A segment car, but as Toyota owns 50% of Daihatsu, they had to sell it to Toyota who in turn sold to Citroën and Peugeot. The only thing Daihatsu could do is to demand that they would make it a bit less economical than the Daihatsu Cuore by shortening the final gear reduction in all Toyota, Citroën and Peugeot cars.
Ronald de Rooij thats true, solid tested reliable engine, would have this than any hyundai car they are cheap for a reason i know this is the same price as a hyundai but u pay for reliability.
Meine Mutter kauft mir dieses Auto zum Geburtstag und es tut so gut zu wissen, dass es so ein gutes Auto ist für Anfänger meiner Art. Danke für das Video, super gelungen.
Thank goodness we have english titles and english commentary, unlike many on TH-cam. Thanks for the english commentary Autofuhl. "Bloody hell.." how charmingly like Jeremy Clarkeson :)
It is a pretty good review, but the the complaiment of the engine noise isn't in place. I drive the original aygo and I have drove the new one several times. And the engine noise is reduced a lot in the new one. Not just a little bit.
I hope we get all 3 of these cars in NZ The Aygo - 108 - C1 i recon we should get these Great for our congested roads in NZ and good for the cities and towns .
very good review.. i mean this guy looked at all small things... I am impressed... other shows have hot men and chicks who reviews cars as if every car is a Ferrari... very good review.... keep it up.....
BlueTaurianBull Thank you very much. Indeed we do not want to do just another UBER-PS channel but give you real drivable cars and realistic reviews for every day driving usage. It is very important for us that this is appreciated. Hope to see you at the next video.
VERY good review. Detailed and precise, however... You should have shown us what the RPM was at 120 kph autobahn so we could gauge the performance. You did say that "5th gear is long" but that doesn't mean too much. I have had many one liter class cars and judge them all by the rpm at 120 kph. The lower the better...
You might want to keep that in mind for future tests. A simple, visual determination of rpm in the final gear at 3000 rpm or the rpm of the car at 100 kph in the same final gear. This tells a great deal about the car. Aerodynamics, gearing, ability to cruise on the freeway much like a slightly larger car. (Some Chinese cars = 32 kph/1000 rpm while a 2000 to 2006 Honda Insight was around 64 kph/1000 rpm)
My biggest problem with this car is the gearing. As stated in the review, it is very long: 2. gear goes all the way up to 90 km/h and 3. gear to a whopping 130 km/t. Which is just completely silly for a small city car. It almost makes the car a 3½ gear with 1½ overgear, since even the 4. gear is already a bit to high to acheive the true top speed of the car. I know they do it to acheive better fuel consumption figures in the very artificial EU-test. But Its really a shame. Because with such a light car, a 1,0 liter engine with 69 hp is actually enough to make it reasonably nimble. But not with that kind of gearing. For such a gearing you need an engine with a lot more torque than the 95 nm, this one produce.
+fundiver198 The Daihatsu Cuore which formed the basis of the Aygo, C1 and 107, had even longer final drive (see my earlier comment today). I owned a Daihatsu and it was only annoying in the mountains and when I reversed. In reverse, you could not drive without slipping the clutch otherwise you would go minimum 15 km/h in reverse. Good luck getting into a parking space with that speed.
I like this review. Overall very good !! However he ruins it a bit at 14 minutes . He takes both hands of the steering wheel while driving and says young girls when he means young women.
I actually hate this car. The only enjoyable part of it is the steering wheel's feel while driving. Driving experience slightly improves after some 6000 miles, when engine wakes up. it is for people who can't drive, or do not want to learn drive, or for elderly people who need to go for sundy shopping in the closest tesco which is in a few hundred metres distance from their house. In this engine cathegory, I would recommend Hyundai i10 for sure.
Sorry your not telling the truth. All 3 cars are identical it is classic badge engineering. The holes in the hood also on the citroen and peugeot. The small parts for reducing the wind noise. Of course they are also on the other cars. You should have known better.
