Yes. They never break down! So cheap to run. Easy to park. Only negative is that they are slow as hell at higher speeds and so make overtaking difficult. Most reliable car I’ve ever had! If you just want a cheap car that never breaks down - get one!
I've got 66,000 miles on the clock. I'd like to say I haven't had to do anything other then change the tyres, brake disks and pads but my exhaust mount snapped at 30,000 miles/4 years old and I had to replace it (the exhaust mount was corroded when I bought it at 10,000 miles/2 years old) ... It was extremely cheap to replace though, about £35. I'm a machanic so I do all the work myself, the control arm bushing is starting to wear out too and that's probably going to be the most expensive job I'll have done at around £120 for parts
unless you feel the need to show off which let's face it is 99% people now days you don't need big SUVs and electric cars this has to be the most economical, green and reliable way of getting from point A to B
I've been driving for a year and a half, and have an aygo! Mega car. No issues, fun to drive. Obviously not the quickest but you dont get an aygo for that. It's great fun around town in second and third. Great review and I'm happy to see so many people loving these little cars.

This car gets better fuel economy in the city for me, it only gets better fuel ecomony on the motorway if there's allot of traffic around to keep the air flowing in the direction you're travelling, if you have to fight the air without assistance its more around 68mpg instead of 75-80mpg (the 79mpg best tank was set on a 300 mile trip doing 55mph in the left lane following a convoy of lorries). If you have to fight a headwind you're screwed too, I had to on a dual carriageway recently and ended up doing 40mph uphill against the wind. This car isn't built for speed, it's built for fuel efficiency and I still love it because of that.
@@HighPeakAutos personally I wouldn't expect many other people to get these kind of figures, I started learning hypermiling techniques after finding my economy was nowhere near the stated 68mpg, more like 55mpg when I first started driving after passing my test. To be honest reading the road better reduces stress massively and I'm glad that I got over the mentality that you need to rush to the next set of lights to just stop and wait. I also block the grill during the winter leaving a small gap for cooling but mostly using the cabin heater for cooling, I noticed that on the coolant temp monitor that it runs cold and even with the grill block can still struggle to maintain its temp until the underbonnet air temp rises. My partner always comments how warm my car is inside during the winter. Most of the cooling is done keeping the interior warm.

My wife got a Hyundai i10 1.2. 4 year old car. I didn't expect much from it but it's a hoot to drive you can really throw it around and it's no slouch off the line. We drove 300 miles to Scotland only stopped once then drove around all day and it was effortless comfortable and economically. Try one if you haven't. New one is meant to be even better. Aygo looks a nice little run around but think the i10 might beat it.
I just bought a white one of these, 2016, 22,022 miles, for £7,500. To be used mainly for nipping around town (London). My one, like this one, hasn't got the 7in touchscreen entertainement system, which is disappointing, but it has so much else that I'm well happy. Thanks for your comments in the video.
When you first purchases Aygo did you have problems with the clutch as the biting point is so high. I bought Aygo start of Feb and I am still stalling it and have problems controlling the car when stop starting up a hill of traffic. I have actually rolled the car back 3 times now. I been driving for 25 years but now drive like a learner. Other than this issue, i do like the Aygo.
@@skygazer6898 I haven't got the Aygo now but I had it for a year or so. In that time I had no problem with the clutch or anything else. I still love that car and miss it so much. Only reason I changed was that my model didn't have a rear view camera or navigation (Google Maps is fine though). Have a word with a local garage as I think the biting point can be adjusted, I think it's a simple procedure. Or check the cost of a new clutch. Speak with local mechanic
Short, sharp, clear, concise, honest, informative and well presented review. Just like the car, what more does anyone want? Well done, like your style.
I once had one of these exact ones as a courtesy car from the AA when mine broke down. Did surprisingly well on motorways down from Birmingham (where the other one broke down) to London. It’s basically a tardis too, I’m 6’4 and I fit behind the wheel really comfortably, although my head was by the rear window not the front one 🤣
Picked up a high mileage one recently for a very good price. One of the rear drum breaks had some "major" issues and they decided to just sell in on cheap rather than pay what their local garages were quoting. Quick bit of research and about £40 in parts and I had both drums back to showroom condition. Every single other typical Aygo fault has either been replaced recently or working fine and the whole thing looks/feels like a car half it's mileage. For a cheap and actually rather fun city car, you just can't go wrong and short of running out of oil, almost impossible to kill. My advice if you're handy with a spanner is go cheap and do the work yourself. Super easy and dead cheap to repair and you might walk away with an utter bargain.
Brilliant little cars, these are the best of the city cars, and being a Toyota it will be as reliable as a wood burning stove, great second car for nipping into town to shop, in the right colour they stand out, that red is a cracking colour. Great review again, who needs a city Wizz.
Lively little motor, my dad had one and we went from Portsmouth to glossop in heavy snow in 2018 and it just kept going. It seemed like the outside lane was for us and 4x4s
i don't understand why some people are wining over noise. I have a 2014 pre-facelift MMT, so the one with the X in the nose. I have michelin all weather tires on them and nor the road sound nor engine sound is loud. In fact, people driving with me in it all say that it is remarkably silent. Unless ur gonna floor it and pull it high in rpm but hey what moron does that. You can do everything easily below 3500rpm. I love the thing and the automated MMT .

Absolutely fine 1 up down a motorway, does get blown around a bit but no idea. Sits at motorway speed no issue I do over 1000 mile a month no problem...more comfortable than my slk and my 3 series...strange but true
6:46 hahah, that’s exactly what I did (although I’m way older!)😂 I was initially going to buy an old Aygo outright as my first car. But the 0% finance over two years tempted me so ended up upgrading to the second gen Xclusive, using my money as a down payment and financing the rest ☺️

My friend has an auto version, uses a CVT gearbox and it's still good. So review is spot on. The styling is based on Japanese anime/manga (cartoon animations and comics)
Hi Matt when my daughter passed her test she and my girlfriend and her dad all put money together and bought one very similar to the one your driving with a similar reg ef64kyj her has the sat nav and cruise control ac and she loves it it was very low on the miles and it’s been the perfect car all be it with a black box for her insurance great video once again best wishes ian.
@@HighPeakAutos she wouldn't be without hers now looking forward to the range rover video Matt is it hard trying to please all your viewers especially if there like me who love anything jaguar / land rover based
I think these cars will end up appreciating tbh, most manufacturers are stopping making cheap to buy cars so 10-ish years down the line what are 17 year olds going to buy who need a cheap to run/insure car? These will be all that’s left and everyone will be snapping them up. The 1st generation Aygo/C1/107 are already expensive for what they are as there’s huge demand for them and supply will definitely decrease over the next 10 years.
I have the same model . Red was one of the free colours grey is a £200 extra. The parcel shelf...doesn't break but falls off when you look at it sideways. I get 52,mpg around town., the air-con seems not to affect mpg
I’ve enjoyed all of your reviews but this one gave me the added bonus of seeing Manchester again,. I spent the first 14 years of my life there, followed by 3 years in Glossop. My family then emigrated to Australia. The one thing I noticed, yet never saw when I lived there(all the fifties and into the 60s ) was grown men in short pants. It brought back the first time we arrived in Aus.seeing adult men going to the office in shirt, tie, shiny shoes and short pants with long socks. I took a great effort avoiding pissing myself laughing. Thank god that’s a thing of the past..Thanks for the balanced and informative vids
The new cars engine has changed, they've added variable valve timing to the exhaust ports so instead of just the intake ports it's both variable intake and exhaust which flattens out the torque band a bit more and gives slightly more power.
Suzuki swift is a very good car, my partner is on her second, to me it is more spacious than a fiesta, but the boot is smaller, but when you fold down the back seats, surprisingly roomy as it is wide and we managed to get a round patio table from home base in the boot no problem. Her current one is 4 years old and recently had service etc without needing any work other than serviceable things such as oil etc.
My oap neighbor wanted a reliable cheap motor to replace her 1.3 Punto diesel which smoked like dot cotton because of the short journeys she used it for. Anyway I recommend her the Aygo had it 3 years without a single problem.
Great review, As a massive fan of great value frugal cars this was a real treat. I love city cars, my other half has an UP! which is spot on (I'd love it if you reviewed one) and a perfect alternative would have been one of these. I think the Aygo is fab.
A must have if you’re 68yrs old or older. Has a special air filter to get rid of the smell of p!ss and peppermint The size is perfect for those that struggle to park and an optional extra is the must have prescription windscreen
Had mine for 3 years from new and thoroughly loved and abused it! I got through a set of pads in 13k (though they are soft pads) and tyres in 7k. It saw the red line every day, had 4 people in the back row and put the biggest smile on my face, despite mates thinking it's a joke car. It went on 700+ mile round journeys and I never had to worry about finding a parking space in the city. I've had what others would deem to be much better, 300bhp, cars (those people probably turning their nose up at this aygo), before, during and after this aygo, but this is the one car that made me smile the most - though, *caveat* not sure if that's just because it was on a lease w/maintenance included. 🤣 Great reviews, keep them coming!
I learnt to drive late and my first car was a lease car through work, it was a bright orange Aygo Excite and I loved it. I'm 6'2" and it was comfy to drive too and from work in. I only got rid of it because the lease ended and I was offered a friend's s-type for practically nothing...
I have a BMW Z3 which has a 6 cylinder engine of 2.0 l capacity giving 140bhp. The little 3 cylinder Aygo/C1/107/108 three cylinder engine gives 70 bhp from 1l. So the Aygo engine is exactly half a BMW 6.
Ray Hunt Had a top spec auto in 2014 it was ok on the flat but was very slow on hills, I don't know why they didn't out the 1.2 engine in it with 82 bhp like they did in the Peugeot 108 which is basically the same car.
I own it’s sister the 108 and I’m pretty impressed with it, clutch could be a little more forgiving when pulling off though. I went for the 1.2 engine so it has more grunt on the motorway!
Had 2 thanks to my daughter, I agree entirely 1st one a bit basic (previous model) but well engineered latest version fab so cheap and takes a lot of abuse, a lot quieter than 1st but is gutless, why they didn’t as you said fit a small turbo I’ll never know if it had a bit more go I’d have one myself. Maybe they could call it the Morgo 🤣
I had a first gen 56 plate c1 it never went wrong in the 2 years I had it but it did have a habit of filling with water when it rained 😂😂 never manages to get it fixed but the fuel economy was incredible a great little car would have another one
I had a loan of a new one from the garage in Jan. I hated it at first but I got to like it but only suitable for cities, I was doing a lot of motorway. I love the colour, every car should be RED!!
Great video, was looking exactly for a review of the 2014 version of this car to drive around Manchester City centre in 2020 so this was perfect, thank you!
We've got the Peugeot 108 1.0 version, it drives nicely for a small car and holds the road well, but 1st gear can be reluctant to engage whilst moving. I've wondered why they didn't do a sporty turbo either especially as I think Daihatsu did a blower version with the engine originally. Long hills can be a bit of a problem with just two up, and the false floor in the boot can buckle under heavy weights whilst you tend to get your hands mucky closing the hatch! I really miss having centre and side window vents though, while the lack of a parcel shelf doesn't bother me as it's too small to place items on anyway. However, it could do with a rev counter as standard seeing as you have to give it a lot of welly because of the lack of torque. (Grown up is the term I've heard used to differentiate it as opposed to the old car).
Great review, that Durex comment made me grin. I tried to sit in one of these when car hunting with my daughter, couldn't get my legs under the steering wheel so I would say if your very tall, maybe skip it.
I used my Aygo here in germany for many long trips. Very economical and comfortable little car. Because i drive only 100 km/h on the Autobahn my fuel consumption is between 3,5 - 4,3L and it costs me 16€ Tax every year. I dont need stupid electric cars with horrible range and a high price tag.
£140 😂 I was tempted to get a 2015 Aygo, but they got the rubbish auto🙃gearbox. So i went with the Yaris, wasn't disappointed at all! Got the ICON model with the Satnav, brilliant car. 59mpg was the best i got & it's comfy.
This car is small bulletproof. I driven this car almost throughout U.K. ( Scotland Waled Cornwall Devon) France ang Germany. Never had a breakdown. I changed it to Lexus a bigger and more reliable bullet proof. I need more big space for my expedition 😁
Trying to decide between one of these or the other similarly priced small car options like the panda or citigo. The fiat and Skoda are quite a bit more practical with space in the boot but does the aygo's reliability and better mpg make up for the lack of space ?🤔. Great review and love that you share your thoughts on little ones like this as well as the exotic stuff.
When you were mumbling about buses and taxi's Matt, you weren't going past Victoria station where you? It's just that a number of years ago I was following my sat-nav and it took me down along the front of Victoria station and although I noticed some signs about buses and taxi's, I never paid them much notice. A few weeks later I got a letter through the door stating that I had been fined (can't remember how much), so, because of a sat-nav I ended up with a bill for driving through Manchester.
I remember seeing one in an eggplant purple last year and i think it looked great. They really should make a hot hatch version by fitting a turbo on it to give it 150 or so horse.
They would never do a hot one, be too costly, the new hot yaris starts at £30000, besides most people buy an aygo because it's cheap, reliable and easy to drive.
@@zombiefighterof1987 if they did one, the up would probably be a direct rival, but the fiesta St would be class above, I'd love to see Toyota produce one, but I think that is just a case of wishful thinking.
I worked in the Manchester city centre for 6 years in the 1970's, and considered that I knew how to get around in it fairly quickly. Fast forward to when this review was filmed, and I'm struggling to recognise where most of the sights are!
I have read that the X was supposed to be a mask - the C1 "face" is supposed to be ' Hello Kitty and the PUG version was supposed to be classy. Its the last one I find hardest to cope with lol. Garage I used to use had the Mk2 C1 as a loan car - no idea what trim level but was always impressed with kit - Blue Tooth/air/DAB/Remote CL/ good MPG/ and decent performance. Rear access and boot space were limited but nobody buys one instead of a Picasso eh?
Very clever and subtle 😂😂...lol. Great review informative and extremely funny 👍🏻😁

Engine is bulletproof i absolutley rag mine all day everyday once its warmed up and have had no issues at all over 2 years
My friend has an auto version, uses a CVT gearbox and it's still good.
Hi Ian, that’s good, they’re great little cars, especially as a first car
@@HighPeakAutos she wouldn't be without hers now looking forward to the range rover video
Matt is it hard trying to please all your viewers especially if there like me who love anything jaguar / land rover based
I think these cars will end up appreciating tbh, most manufacturers are stopping making cheap to buy cars so 10-ish years down the line what are 17 year olds going to buy who need a cheap to run/insure car? These will be all that’s left and everyone will be snapping them up. The 1st generation Aygo/C1/107 are already expensive for what they are as there’s huge demand for them and supply will definitely decrease over the next 10 years.
I always try and stock them. They always sell
Haha thats interesting! Thanks for watching
I owned a 62 reg and drove to Berlin and Barcelona in it. The only negative is getting bullied, especially in Belgium for some reason.
The new cars engine has changed, they've added variable valve timing to the exhaust ports so instead of just the intake ports it's both variable intake and exhaust which flattens out the torque band a bit more and gives slightly more power.
Thinking about the Aygo for my first car but seriously tempted by a Suzuki Swift, would love to see you review one of those.
That’s the best car to have suggested
@@HighPeakAutos ticks all the boxes for a reliable cheap car
Great review, As a massive fan of great value frugal cars this was a real treat. I love city cars, my other half has an UP! which is spot on (I'd love it if you reviewed one) and a perfect alternative would have been one of these. I think the Aygo is fab.
A must have if you’re 68yrs old or older. Has a special air filter to get rid of the smell of p!ss and peppermint
The size is perfect for those that struggle to park and an optional extra is the must have prescription windscreen
Hahahaa
Ageist...you’ll be old someday
Gas Man - you’re only as old as the woman you feel mate
Thank you for this clear and informative review! As a first time buyer and car layman, this has really helped me in my decision. Thanks!
Great reviews, keep them coming!
I learnt to drive late and my first car was a lease car through work, it was a bright orange Aygo Excite and I loved it. I'm 6'2" and it was comfy to drive too and from work in. I only got rid of it because the lease ended and I was offered a friend's s-type for practically nothing...
@Futurebreeze some muppet reversed a lorry down the side of it :(
3:35
I like how you displayed that *1* 🤣🤣🤣
If you can people watch full length of ads because reviews coming in good and will lead to more content being able to be created 👏👏

Had a top spec auto in 2014 it was ok on the flat but was very slow on hills, I don't know why they didn't out the 1.2 engine in it with 82 bhp like they did in the Peugeot 108 which is basically the same car.
I own it’s sister the 108 and I’m pretty impressed with it, clutch could be a little more forgiving when pulling off though. I went for the 1.2 engine so it has more grunt on the motorway!
I didnt know they offered the 108 with a 1.2 - thats a good idea
My mrs has got one of these. That engine sounds as refined as a rusty old transit van, but it’s quite a fun little thing to drive if I’m honest.
It's a speed limiter that was fitted to these, are great little cars though -although the last gen did really well over its production life
Had a 2014 auto model. Was a great car but the only issue the jerkiness of the gearbox.
They can be jerky. Its a semi auto which are never very smooth
I liked the Aygo hire car I had in southern Italy last year and that came with reversing camera which was neat. I see you can find them new-ish for
Exactly! The Aygo's sip fuel and aren't polluting so it would make much more sense
I had a loan of a new one from the garage in Jan. I hated it at first but I got to like it but only suitable for cities, I was doing a lot of motorway. I love the colour, every car should be RED!!
I'm a City fan so I'll politely disagree
They always fetch good money even at auctions. Great vid as always.
Mick
Very entertaining and informative... you tell it as it is and you're the best out there by far.. thanks.
Thanks! I appreciate it
It looks as though it would fit in the boot of my XF!
When you said “Snapchat Generation” 🤣
No, no you shouldn’t. I’ve had a couple as loaners. Better than the two french ones though.
Best car I've owned had vw and fiat and always problems then toyota aygo for years never had a problem
I bet. They’re very reliable
@@HighPeakAutos gonna drive toyota for the rest of my life lol next car is a Toyota yaris 1.5 hybrid 2018 model
Loved the "140 pounds" and Durex comments, made me laugh on my commute.
I think they had Durex overload:
x-play
x-cite
Not been in East is East for ages. Used to be one of our favourite curry houses.
6:44 a treat to see Bez being driven around his natural habitat in a Land Rover Discovery.
🤣 I noticed that whilst watching it back
Great video, was looking exactly for a review of the 2014 version of this car to drive around Manchester City centre in 2020 so this was perfect, thank you!
metamin haha that’s fateful then
The Toyota Aygo is still in production.
My wife had one while her Kia Picanto was being repaired. She loved it but not the tiny boot.
Mpg is the future 💷🏴
Daughter in law has a 18 plate one. Seems a fantastic little car,as long as you don't live in lands end and like to shop in Scotland.
got 2016 Aygo !! i love it :)
Hi Matt after watching this review bought my wife one yesterday 68 plate in Red, hope it lives up to what you said.
Very nide
Nice
Great review, that Durex comment made me grin. I tried to sit in one of these when car hunting with my daughter, couldn't get my legs under the steering wheel so I would say if your very tall, maybe skip it.
I used my Aygo here in germany for many long trips. Very economical and comfortable little car. Because i drive only 100 km/h on the Autobahn my fuel consumption is between 3,5 - 4,3L and it costs me 16€ Tax every year. I dont need stupid electric cars with horrible range and a high price tag.
Excellent review..own is sister the peugeot 108..everything you want for a little runabout.
Great review! Learn and laugh! Very addictive!
£140 😂 I was tempted to get a 2015 Aygo, but they got the rubbish auto🙃gearbox. So i went with the Yaris, wasn't disappointed at all! Got the ICON model with the Satnav, brilliant car. 59mpg was the best i got & it's comfy.
That black BMW must've been sick and tired of seeing that red Aygo in its mirrors 😅
Hahaha Especially with my camera out. I must have looked like a private investigator
I'm thinking of buying this one or the Yaris hybrid. I think Yaris would be the best of both.
This car is small bulletproof.
I driven this car almost throughout U.K. ( Scotland Waled Cornwall Devon) France ang Germany.
Never had a breakdown.
I changed it to Lexus a bigger and more reliable bullet proof.
I need more big space for my expedition 😁
Every Takeaway delivery driver should have one
Trying to decide between one of these or the other similarly priced small car options like the panda or citigo. The fiat and Skoda are quite a bit more practical with space in the boot but does the aygo's reliability and better mpg make up for the lack of space ?🤔. Great review and love that you share your thoughts on little ones like this as well as the exotic stuff.
Nice one Matt
I also like this little car
It's great value for the money and if I lived in a city I would buy one
Kevin
When you were mumbling about buses and taxi's Matt, you weren't going past Victoria station where you?
It's just that a number of years ago I was following my sat-nav and it took me down along the front of Victoria station and although I noticed some signs about buses and taxi's, I never paid them much notice. A few weeks later I got a letter through the door stating that I had been fined (can't remember how much), so, because of a sat-nav I ended up with a bill for driving through Manchester.
Yes possibly. I'm fully expecting a fine in the post. Its too confusing
I love the 3 cylinder thrum, its about time they gave the rear passengers proper windows tho'
Yeah the pop out windows are a bit silly
I remember seeing one in an eggplant purple last year and i think it looked great. They really should make a hot hatch version by fitting a turbo on it to give it 150 or so horse.
Yeah thats not a bad colour either
They would never do a hot one, be too costly, the new hot yaris starts at £30000, besides most people buy an aygo because it's cheap, reliable and easy to drive.
@@darronian4951 It would be interesting and good competition to the Up! GTI or fiesta ST
It’s changed a lot over the last decade
These are fantastic cars, my wife has one, a 15 plate and I'm driving it at every opportunity and yes they are very cheap to run too 😎
I have read that the X was supposed to be a mask - the C1 "face" is supposed to be ' Hello Kitty and the PUG version was supposed to be classy.
Yeah thats quite right. Everyone knows what theyre getting with a car like this. I didnt know about the 'face' thing
Fair review especially after the mk1 review
Cheers!
Great little cars.
I used to work for an escort agency near where you filmed some of that. Last time I ever went into Manchester.
I have an Argo and I love it
Prepare yourself for the traffic tickets coming in 😂 city centre cameras clocking every slip up 😂
The £140 segment is priceless . And no I wouldn't buy an aygo in any colour just not my cup of tea. Great vid as usual.
Haha Cheers! I wouldn't either because I have no need for a little city car, but I would if my circumstances changed
