    Thomas - I soooo appreciate how much time & effort that you make (on all your reviews) by folding down all the rear seats to show luggage space & sitting in the rear seats to show knee and headroom. It's very important stuff.
    Many, many thanks.

    I have a 2006 model and it runs great, not the best space, not fast, light steering but i fit 4 people and takes me from a to b with low consumption, music on mp3 and a happy face, its fun to drive
    Edit 4years later: i still have it, still going strong!! Apart from usual wear (clutch, brakes...) i have had no additional costs or repairs, and has never broken down!

      @@polygamous1 hi,i have a manual, but i have worked for toyota and seen auto aygo's... Forget it. 1st gen auto aygo's are baaaaad and sllloooow at shifting gears. If you want an auto on an aygo, you'll have to look for at least a 2014 model year. The ones before that aren't worth it

    • @rayc1503
      @rayc1503 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@polygamous1 don't bother with the Auto MMT gearbox by Toyota. The computer controls the clutch and it can slip massively especially when you drive uphill or creep through traffic. It's not a durable Auto gearbox and the clutch can be costly to replace. Only Main dealers can calibrate the clutch correctly using automated software. It needs to be done both before and after installation of new components. If you have a manual driving license, better opt for the manual aygo. I can change a complete clutch kit in less then 2.5 hrs in this little gem. If you want a small city car with an auto box I'd suggest the VW up or the seat Mii much more durable Auto gearbox's.

    It feels refreshing to get back to small cars. If this was an EV I would have seriously considered it. I like the new front design. It has CarPlay and android auto. I would change the shifter to be a straight forward and back design though rather than the old style one it has.

    the black screen for the GPS won't be an issue for DK-SE-NO and so on because cars sold here are by default having daylight ON when the switch is off. Meaning that whatever we do, car light will be always turned on.

    I have a 2014 toyota Aygo (1.0 3 cylinder engine) with just over 50,000 miles. Its been diagnosed by toyota as using between 0.8 a 1 litre of oil per 1000 miles (tested twice so far). Toyota says its within their specification and they will not investigate unless its 1ml over 1 litre per 1000 miles... For those that didn't know, this is stated in your toyota handbook and its what you agreed to when you purchased the vehicle from toyota or its within toyota warranty !!!

    I've rented this car 4 times and have done over 600 kms in it. Here are the pros: Great gas mileage 5 l / 100 kms, better than most motorcycles, lol. Great reverse camera. Great connectivity package, nice screen. I like the looks, too. I'm also sure that it's super reliable, being a Toyota. Cons: Way, way too small. This car is just uncomfortable and likely even unsafe for more than 2, MAYBE 3 people. 3rd person better be tiny though. The back seat space and the trunk space suck. I'm around 1.86m tall and when I sit comfortably in the front seat, there is literally zero leg room for the passenger behind me. All the other cars in this class, VW Up, Hyundai i10, etc. have a lot more room overall, and almost about 50% more trunk space. It really feels more like a toy than even a small yet proper car. Why couldn't they make it like even 5 cms longer? Such a joke. Also really struggles at highway speeds above around 110 km/h. Just gets too loud and twitchy. This car would be nice for a year or two for a single person or for a young couple who don't do a lot of highway driving. But that's about it. It's more like a cute toy/appliance than a real car and just too tiny to be useful for more than 2 proper adults.

    • @kaiznpl
      @kaiznpl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is car is used mainly by teenagers, females and for companies fleets. People with a height of 186 cm constitute only 10% of the male population and less than 5% of the Toyota target population (including female and teenagers). If this car would be bigger it will lost his advantage. Nobody care about 5% consumers needs when you put at risk satisfaction of at least 50% current consumer base. This car must fit in crowded cities and it does it perfectly. If you need more space go for the bigger one.

    • @bastianm5478
      @bastianm5478 ปีที่แล้ว

      This actually didn't get terrible safety test results. It was pretty ok for its size. The driver's seat can be adjusted to accommodate back seat passengers easily, even when the driver is 195cm. The back seats when not used by passengers are folded down when going to Ikea and we've gotten lots of large furniture transported home without issues, although some times with an open rear door. The way we put the long and large Ikea boxes wouldn't even fit in a tesla model 3. I'm trying to look for reasons to upgrade but the truth is this car is perfect for 95% of occasions for singles or young couples living in or around cities. The absolute best thing about this car is how reliable and cheap it is, and it actually has a surprising amount of space. The only thing missing from older models is AC, we've filled this car with luggage and traveled 6-7 hours but the lack of AC in the summer made it a bit annoying, especially compared to when we got into the rental and compared the inside climate.

    Toyota for awhile now has been designing certainly odd looking vehicles, some coming out cool enough ( new Corolla, CH-R, even Century ) with some not really well thought out ( Camry, Avalon and Prius ), this Aygo is somewhere in between. Toyota done a decent job in mixing practicality, materials used and in some packaging. Car has some of it's competition there ( 27:12 ).
    More affordable base to mid spec vehicle review please. Another fine review Thomas. Hope you can review super gorgeous Peugeot 508 SW sometime soon.

    GREAT review... If you serviced this car and changed the oil and oil filter often on this little car (Say every 10,000 KM) ..How many KM do you think it would last before the engine failed... If you were using the car to travel 100KM a day ..Mainly motorway work... I know this is not the best car in the World for motorway work.. But I can not afford a luxury new car like a brand new Volvo.. And I simply do not trust 2nd hand used cars.

    About the climate control- doesn't it have an option for an automatic climate control with a screen and buttons like the pre-facelifted one?
    I have a 2015 Aygo. Pretty happy with it. Three years and no problems. Just 17 000 km though :P
    I like the new LED tail lights but not a big fan of the new front with that 3D X shape. But maybe that's just the color. The red doesn't suit it at all.

    I'm surprised this doesn't have a hybrid drivetrain like seen in the Yaris hybrid. I know it's a small vehicle, and the entry price is too low to justify it, but the components should certainly fit inside it.
    Besides, a hybrid dynamic in a vehicle under 1000kgs should be enough to make it fun.

    I have two questions that I can't really find on Toyota's websites.
    - Does the 2018 Aygo come with Start-Stop for the engine when you stop at a traffic light? If so does it come for both M/T and A/T?
    - On the websites, Toyota say that the Speed limiter is available only for the M/T. Does the A/T you tested had speed limiter?

    Hi Thomas! Love the fabric sunroof! Today's up-and-over glass-sunroofs spoil the car's appearance when open, have a restricted aperture and are heavy and pricy. This was a really good review - lots of detail, especially giving us a good idea how the automated manual transmission performs. Yes, really like the 'canvas' sun-roof - great idea on a small car - like the 2CV! Excellent Review Thomas, but I doubt the thing has a nice soft compliant ride in town! I was in a new Yaris the other day, in a city, and the ride was, err, rough! Cheers.

    More consumption for the autmatic one? Neh. It's an MMT meaning a robotised manual transmission. It shifts very smoothly and i hit 1 litre per 22km 23km easly with normal economic driving style. I have the version before this one (with the black X in the grill) but it should be exactly the same. Maybe it could shift a little more early going from 3 to 4 for economics but it also has a very very long 3e gear. Manual one also has that. Take your foot off the gas just a little bit and it will shift up more sooner. No way it's gona consume a litre more on 100km as what he just sayed.

    I always wondered when the nav/info system is in German in your videos, is it on purpose, an oversight or simply not changeable on some cars? Not that it bothers me, it's just something I've noticed is different from review to review. I only speak German on a very basic level but it's not difficult to understand from a context perspective what the menu items are. ;)
    EDIT: In Norway, the DRLs has to come on automatically, so they will change the coding or even change the wiring/switch at the dealer to make that happen, so the info system might not be in night mode in Norwegian cars.

    20:16 left mirror curvature and shape is very good: no blind spot time in a overtaking. It's a more reliable safe feature than the electric sensor. Good car but it's very awful and cheap looking in the interiors.

      @@alunhoskins4513 He's talking about the open spaces within the wheels, not the center caps. They're cut out in a diamond shape, so it kinda looks like the Renault logo.

    I have a white Aygo xtrend. It's not actually a cheap car, it is quite expensive to buy. Cheap-medium quality of this generation but expensive to buy nearly new.
