I’ve watched dozens of Tesla videos and this is my favorite. You covered everything I could have dreamed of as a person that doesn’t own a Tesla. One day I will afford one! Thank you for your honest true video.
Fun fact: the seats were designed by Anders Bell, who Elon Musk personally recruited for Tesla from Volvo. At Volvo, Bell was Head of Interior Engineering, and his last work there was the current-gen Volvo XC90.
Too often we see people use the car for about three days and then give us a "definitive" review. You need to own the car. Live in it for a while. Then make a review.
Many car mags have, or at least had, long term reviews. Even the Daily Telegraph does a 'long term test'. It's quite common but the car does need to have been out a while and that may not suit the reviewer's income stream ...
I just want to compliment Snazzy Labs on its production quality of this video. The host clearly knows how to be on camera and how to be ENGAGING while on camera -- he knows timing, pauses, cadences, inflections, and the general "flow" of an engaging conversation. And the B-roll footage and general photography used for this video is stellar. You guys rock at producing high-quality and engaging videos! Keep doing what you're doing. .... And, yes, your video was part of the reason I'm picking up my Tesla on Saturday.
Is that odd? It was probably lower before to save wear on the motors or battery drainage. The same thing can be done on literally any fossil fueled car as well. Heard of chip tuning?
This is one thing Tesla does correctly and what everyone else needs to start doing. It ridiculous you have to go to the dealer to update the firmware of the car IDK why people put up with it
@@thegreatape884 Yes, you do. If you buy those DIY ready to work with various engines chips, it just means you're ruining your engine, just a matter of time till things go sideways. IC engines are so complex that they require specialists to be dealt with. If you wanna improve your IC engine performance that means not only inserting a chip but most important lots of tunnings, measurements and adaptation that makes the whole engine works fine with new parameters. That usually takes 1-2 days to tune an engine properly. That's a major disadvantage about IC engines overall, not only when we're talking about performance tunning. They are too complex for their shitty efficiency, difficult maintanance and bad influence on environment and people and the noise the produce. That's why technology won't go after hydrogen powered IC engines which are pretty easy to convert from regular fuel powered engines. It'll be hydrogen fuel cell + electric engine. Fuel cell around 70-75% efficient and electric engine ~99% efficient.
Here is some more math. .. My modified lawnmower runs for about four hours on 0.2 of A U.S. gallon. Advancing ignition timing and reducing knock makes ICE more efficient than electric motors, cost wise.
@@787brx8 Ice cars will never be as efficient as electric, they use about 5 times as much fuel to go the same distance, Petrol consumption v's recharging off the grid
787brx8 this is nonsense. Literally half of an internal combustion engine’s cycle is not contributing to outputting work (it has to exhaust the burnt gasses). Due to that alone an ICE will never be as efficient as an electric motor. Sure there are other factors to consider but your statement about ignition timing is pure fiction. This info is readily available if you just google it.....

One issue I have is the fit and finish. Sat in the model 3 at the dealership and the weather striping inside the car was actually misformed and sagging, hanging from the edges of the door and headliner. Some weird issues in the trunk area too. Not expecting Bentley perfection, but I’m expecting the same quality I’d get on a $16,000 Nissan Versa which has a flawless fit and finish
I used to be one of those people you talk about in 3:53. "Everything controlled from the touchscreen? That's ridiculous, I'd never buy such car." And then I rented one, just out of curiosity. And then, a few days later, I ordered one... My God, what a car!

He glossed over the charging part so damn quick. He charges at work...how many people have a job that has access to a high voltage outlet? Not to damn many, if your home or job doesn't have access to charging do not go into getting an EV lightly. You will spend hours charging or alternatively you'll be slowly destroying your battery life using superchargers or high amp DC charging.
@@Ecfotografy It's almost 2/3 of the median household income for the US. Some areas have considerably lower median incomes (some higher). Very good video that gives a balanced review of the car. My paint job was not as bad, but the paint chips are significant. If you buy paint protection film for the front of the car when it is brand new, I think that would mitigate that problem.
The repair costs on these vehicles are astronomical. I like real time information from an instrument cluster and real time information just below my eyes. And I know what the Tesla groupies are going to say you can get this on the infotainment screen. There may be other things I want on the infotainment screen I like having a large instrument cluster right beneath my eyes. It wouldn't take much for Tesla to put in instrument cluster in, hell even a configurable.
The cluster is always on the screen and still lets you have whatever you want on the remainder of the screen. Have you even seen this video? Or perhaps you want more info than is included on the screen? It doesn't take a "groupie" (nice job trying to invalidate the people who are critical of you) to know that having that info at "street level" is better than having it just below your eyes.
Man, the future is going to be disappointing for you and me both. I love good instrumentation and ease of viewing but all those little pieces are going to cost more to make/install/repair and for what? We aren't flying 737s. So yeah, it'd be nice but if it tacks on an extra $5000 (including design, research & production line spin-up, quality control) then slap it on the tablet it and call it a day.
8:56 "They were as graceful as Tailosive Tech using an Android Phone" XD now the question is: which Android Phone? He seems to like Samsungs and OnePlus phones, so maybe you're referring to Pixel phones, he hates those with his life.
I have a Pixel 3A and it's overall outperforms the Samsung Galaxy S3 and 7 edge that I've had over the years from the get go. And I mean it just functions much better then any Samsung I have ever had. I have no urge to ever go back to a Samsung.
When that times comes, Europe will make up a new law to ban electric cars because batteries are an ecological time bomb. They did the same with diesel, soon they'll ban oil cars (but they still allow us to buy them so we are totally screwed later). That whole ecological stuff is total bs.
You are mistaken my fellow. Electric cars are not being produced because of free market forces, but because of government forces. That means the cost goes up, (while accountability in their product goes down), and if you can't afford one now,---you probably never will be able to,--unless you can get rich somehow. Good luck.
@EarthSurferUSA I doubt our governments can tell anything important to rich people, it's actually the other way around. The ban on diesel is the proof the government works for them. Normally, they should have banned the making of new diesel cars 10 years ago, but instead they banned even recent cars. This is clearly a disrespect of customers' rights, and none reacted. Now they tell us "after 2025, we guarantee nothing for no cars". You have to buy blindly without knowing if you'll have to sell it for peanuts later. Ecology is just an excuse to steal a little more money from us.
@@En_theo True that. I only believe in Porsche and Audi cooperating and creating synthetic fuel (no oil involved). They managed to make it already just it is too expensive for daily usage, so they are looking for workarounds.

Fun fact: the seats were designed by Anders Bell, who Elon Musk personally recruited for Tesla from Volvo. At Volvo, Bell was Head of Interior Engineering, and his last work there was the current-gen Volvo XC90.
I noticed that the seats are pretty similar to the Volvo seats. No wonder 😀

Right you really have to live in it, eat in it, shit in it, to truly know its potential

Keep doing what you're doing.

just to mention, tesla literally increased the speed from 0-60 on all current model 3s through a SOFTWARE update
Is that odd? It was probably lower before to save wear on the motors or battery drainage. The same thing can be done on literally any fossil fueled car as well. Heard of chip tuning?
No need to make special trip to your local dealer/tuner. Less wasted time and possible frustration.
@@thegreatape884 why so many people have a problem with doing stuff?
Fuel cell around 70-75% efficient and electric engine ~99% efficient.
honestly the best review i've seen on tesla. Just talks about what we need to know.

No kidding. NOT cost-effective! At this point, it would be more than my mortgage. I haven't financed a car in a couple of decades and I don't plan to.
40k isn't alot of money
@@Ecfotografy It's almost 2/3 of the median household income for the US. Some areas have considerably lower median incomes (some higher). So it may not be a lot for you, but there are many households that don't even make $40k in a year. So that would be a lot of money for them. For me, I'm just not going to finance a car. If I need a car and don't have that much saved up, I'm not going to get one.
He didn’t gloss over it... he said 25/30 mins for 80% charge which isn’t that long tbh when it costs less than gas

This review was of extremely high quality. I watched the whole damn video. Very enjoyable!!
I thought this was a superb presentation, with informative, flowing dialogue. No punches pulled that I could determine. The sentiments in the pinned Snazzy Labs comment are entirely justified as far as I'm concerned.
Very good video that gives a balanced review of the car. My paint job was not as bad, but the paint chips are significant. If you buy paint protection film for the front of the car when it is brand new, I think that would mitigate that problem.
Very well described. Straight to the point. No time wasted. Worth watching your reviews and comments. Well done. Thank you!
This is such a great review, the quality of this review stands out far past others

I can't wait 5 years until Germans start to buy those and then another 15 until I can afford an used German EV in east europe.
Good luck.
@EarthSurferUSA
I doubt our governments can tell anything important to rich people, it's actually the other way around.
5 years? more like 1,5
@@En_theo True that. I only believe in Porsche and Audi cooperating and creating synthetic fuel (no oil involved).

On an unrelated note, I was wondering what microphone you used. It sounded like a lavalier, because the audio was unchanged when you started speaking inside the car and then outside. 🧐
Yeah! It was a Sennheiser AVX with an MKE-2 lavalier. We loved the versatility but wanted better sound quality so we actually just ordered an insane amount of audio gear to completely transition over to lavs for all our videos so we can move around and be a little more engaging. :)
