Those pins at 8:29 are actually really rare and cool! TF2 merch goes for insane prices on ebay since Valve just stopped making it years ago but there's still a large amount of people playing.
You know how when you sign up for Reddit. You choose what you want to follow. That's how Subscription boxes should work. When you sign up you choose a few of your interests. That way you're not getting tons of garbage you don't like.
Loot Crate sort of tried that by offering their regular subscription box as well as more specific boxes for gaming, anime, WWE, etc, but you still mostly got cheap garbage you could just as easily find at Hot Topic or Target. It certainly didn't help that as the years went on, Loot Crate started cutting down on the amount of items you got each month without significantly dropping their subscription prices to make customers feel like they weren't blatantly getting ripped off at an increasing rate.
Like when you sign up they ask "okay what you like?" and they'll give you a list you can choose from. I know it would take more time to bring them out but hey if people got what they wanted then the market would boom
Considering most of Lootbox's merch was the dregs of convention "swag" that convention goers didn't want and sold to Lootbox at a discount just to get rid of it, I'm not sure how feasible that idea would have been long-term. I mean, yea, they eventually did start making deals to get franchise or genre-specific boxes, but the generic boxes started by trying to get rid of convention leftovers.
Something cool would be if they show you every item they have and you can pick the exact items you like (under a certain value of course) Would take away a little bit of the rush but would definitely make a lot of people excited when all their gaming merch arrived in one big package
@@mrbigblox6646 Well then that would just be a regular online store like eBay or Amazon at that point, which would completely defeat the purpose of a monthly subscription box.
Nah, everyone realized it. Same thing with Amazon Mystery packages. The only reason those were successful and LootCrate wasn't is because Loot Crate is a one time novelty thing and Mystery packages are actually useful and you can often make a profit on them. Loot Crates really have that loot box aesthetic, but ultimately they're filled with useless shit that you will rarely use and never profit from.
Not really. At least you can resell the crap you don't want from Loot Crate, whereas you're permanently stuck with the trash drops you get from in-game loot boxes.

There used to be an awesome box named BOBOS that did this sort of thing. It was legitimately the best subscription box around imo and the couple times I got it I got truly amazing stuff. It was run by a couple and they would go out to conventions and everything to get specific things you were interested in.

“a pac-man glass cmon that’s bound to hold water” (9:03)
I don't get it. Am i braindead or...?

That’s a great price!
@@mrbigblox6646 Well then that would just be a regular online store like eBay or Amazon at that point, which would completely defeat the purpose of a monthly subscription box.
why does no one realize, THIS IS REAL LIFE LOOT BOXES
Nah, everyone realized it. Same thing with Amazon Mystery packages. The only reason those were successful and LootCrate wasn't is because Loot Crate is a one time novelty thing and Mystery packages are actually useful and you can often make a profit on them. Loot Crates really have that loot box aesthetic, but ultimately they're filled with useless shit that you will rarely use and never profit from.
Is it sad I bought Thanos socks at gamestop?
@@mattsmith457 thats exactly like lootboxes, u never get anything good
It's actually suprise mechanics
Not really. At least you can resell the crap you don't want from Loot Crate, whereas you're permanently stuck with the trash drops you get from in-game loot boxes.
It’s amazing that he never begs for subs
