It isn't the same game. The Contra trailer from 2011 was for a game that was never released. Contra: Rogue Corps has absolutely nothing to do with that game other than being a game in the franchise.

The World of Light reveal was one of the greatest reveals I have experienced. I was in a cafeteria at my school with 90% of people watching it and freaking out together. It was magical
It sucks how World of Light is barely talked about these days. I love Sakurai but it felt like Ultimate only had an Adventure Mode because people bitched about Smash 4 not having any kind of narrative like Brawl did. Sakurai chose to not make an Adventure Mode for Smash 4 because people could upload the cutscenes onto TH-cam, like what happened to The Subspace Emissary.

@@AluminumFusion22 yeah, Sakurai is an incredibly dedicated and passionate director, but his logic can be pretty dumb. Subspace has a story that’s hard to follow and he viewed the cutscenes as “rewards for playing.”

The Melee and TP reveals are timeless. I wish you'd played more of the straight footage from them, especially Melee since you don't get to hear the crowd reactions at all. I'm sure I'll be able to watch those after retirement and still feel the flood of emotions I did the first time. Nintendo magic at its finest.

Reveals and releases can be drastically different, Mario Odyssey is a good example of this.

Release: *_YOU CAN BECOME BOWSER HIMSELF_*
There are much better examples of this, like how some games even change entire engines between reveal and release. The Odyssey trailers weren’t misleading or different in any way, they just were saving some of the good stuff.

7:17 Interesting to see the evolution of Nintendo consoles. The first 3 were iconic trendsetters. Nintendo and Sega were prepared to take risks and innovate. The Gamecube was an improvement of the N64 in all aspects. Many games got their first release on the Gamecube. It was an amazing little console.

i was still a kid when persona 5 was announced, and was really looking forward to it since i loved the last two.. but then it got pushed back again and again and again. i figured it just wouldnt come out.
when the ACTUAL trailer came out? indescribable. i was shouting and visibly shaking, i think i cried a little bit and im not exaggerating. it was stylish and fun and gave a really good idea of what the games feel and aesthetic would be. it really lived up to the trailer and will likely remain my favorite game trailer for like forever

I always love it when a company does a reveal that perfectly targets a more niche audience. E3 2019 has one of the best example of this imo, being the Trials of Mana reveal. Whether that game is good or not will have to wait for when it actually releases, but as someone who's a huge fan of the Mana series that trailer was perfect. It started off by just showing the Mana Sword, and I automatically went "Yup this is Mana Collection on Switch. This was leaked a few days ago", then they showed a fully modled Duran and I was like "oh man", then they showed gameplay in full 3D and I was like "oooooooh man" then they revealed that the Collection of Mana would be out that minute and I was like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH MAN". It just built up to everything so well and left me and every other Mana fan I know extremely hyped, and they even managed to make something that was leaked hype as hell.

Watching the opening at the live event for smash melee gave me shivers in a good way even though I was not there to see that happen either.
5:21 this looks a bit like MGS4 graphics-wise which was a PS3 game, I think the reason it looks so good is because the animations are crazy fluid for some reason

A super underrated reveal was Tekken Tag 2. The one that showed Jin vs Kazuya and then all the sudden you see Asuka jump in and it says “switch”. I absolutely lost my shit because right away we knew this was a long awaited Tekken Tag sequel and I was super hyped knowing many fan favorites would be back after so many years. Still the most hyped I’ve ever been for a reveal trailer.

I legit still get chills when I see the Melee intro
I think the worst part about Watch Dogs was that the PC version was lacking options that were enabled in the PS4 version, and people assumed it was on purpose to make the PS4 look superior.
In fact Total Biscuit did a video on it and showed that the options were easily enabled with a quick .ini edit and did not impact performance like the developers claimed it would.

I recently learned this about the Killzone trailer from the Noclip documentary - the development team didn't decide to show that, and they were mortified when that was shown at E3 because it was an in-house concept video. Pretty interesting.
This brought a tear to my eye
