  • This is the first (and only) episode in what was originally going to be a miniseries about my life, creative process and tools I use to write, mix and release my music as an independent artist. I don't have the time to continue this series in any further episodes, but we had an incredible time making this short film. Sorry I didn't get into any of the instruments or gear. That failure (which was my fault thinking I'd do more episodes) keeps me up at night...

You covered a lot of topics and a lot of your space. I really enjoyed watching you make the music and going with the flow, making changes as you went. Maybe next time kind of walk us through the steps of the creative process that is your world. I loved the sense of humor, all the stories were great. I guess my only recommendation would be to keep being you. Stay awsome 🤙❤

      - Synths tour
      - Mixing process
      - Piano overview
      - Your general composition philosophy
      - Finding inspiration
      - Maybe one Q/A
      - Maybe get Chris or someone else on and how us how you record them?

Tony. Back in 2016, when I first heard your music on Music Bed (I edit for a living), I was blown and way and instantly wanted to know how you were making this music.
I came across a blog post you had made about your process and tools, and that was the first time I learned that virtual instruments and orchestras were even a thing! I was instantly inspired by your music and process, and the idea that I could create a full cinematic piece on my own inside the box. This put me on a journey to learn to compose cinematic music, and I'm still on that journey today.
Thanks for continuing to inspire me with every new track you release, and I know that this new series you are doing is going to be the catalyst for so many new composers, just like that blog post was for me.
THANK YOU. Please make many episodes! :)

Your comment at 13:40 resonates deeply. I want to enjoy music for what it is and how it makes me feel when I'm making it. The "hustle" mentality around music has become prominent in LA over the past 10 years and it's disheartening. Happy to hear a professional who feels this way.

Hi Tony, i'd like to say this is my unofficial open letter to you.
But first i just have to say thank you for all the beautiful music you have been making!
This is a great video and this is the first time i am actually getting to watch a personal video of you doing your thing,.. its really refreshing to finally gain abit of insight into your thought process, what inspires you, how you make your music, your audio equipments and abit about your personal life. Thanks for sharing!
You sir are God-sent and i'll like to let you know that your music has been my major source of inspiration!
Your story about how you first quit music to pursue other things till you finally decide to come back to it goes on to reinforce my belief that nothing can ever beat true passion and that no matter how hopeless or unpromising the prospect of pursing ones true passion might seem,... WE MUST NEVER GIVE UP ON THAT DREAM.
I got introduced to your music circa 2018 by youtube auto-suggest, given i like to watch alot of Nature/Urban & Natural Landscape Films with ambient relaxation music.
The video was titled Peru 8k featuring your music: Eyes Wide Open, the moment the video opened and the music cued in, i was instantly sold.
I am into alot of landscape/nature/abstract photography and drone Videography/Cinematography and i will like to say prior to discovering your music; over the years i had listened to several hundreds of music ranging from the ambient/atmospheric/deep focus/cinematic music/post-rock genre and playlists on Spotify and beyond, to movie scores and i'll like to say NONE, and i mean NONE of those music spoke, connected and inspired me like yours do!
Even though i did favorite alot of those songs, created playlists and i love to listen to them repeatedly and always enjoy them, they just never inspired me creatively.
When Listening to your music whenever i am driving or working or just purely relaxing, i am just busy visualizing different images in my head (while i am enveloped in the rich textures and soundscape of your music) about the aerial videos i would love to shoot, the scenery, how i want the cinematography to be like.. & when i am done shooting & still nursing ideas later on on how to go about my editing, all i just do is find any of my favorite music of yours to listen to and i get inspired.
Suffice to say, Your music guides how i choose to edit my videos (all my workflow basically) to the final cut!
I am ALWAYS listening to your music while i am editing.
Some days when i am just sitting idle, listening to your music...., the ideas for my next video shoot just start materializing in my head and i go out & just do it!
Your music has been a major source of INSPIRATION & MOTIVATION in my Content Creation Process!
I've been able to publish few of my completed, short drone films on YT and i am so grateful for your music.
I still got quite a number of unedited footage which i'd shot over time and i am still in the process of putting them together into short films as time goes by!
Your music constantly gives me inspiration!
Fun fact, i'm currently ranked top 0.05% of your listeners on Spotify.
I could go on and on, but for the sake of TL;Dr (which this already is, lol), i just have to say Thank You for all you have been doing! I am immensely grateful for your music!
Keep up the good work, Sir.
I am really looking forward to seeing episode 2 of your studio tour, hopefully soon! :)
PS: I also just watched, your new Video: Debris.
There are no words to truly describe the immense horror that unfolded that day, no words to express how heartbreaking it is to watch in such great amount of detail as you have so much put in the effort to make sure we see,..but in the middle of it all, it has also been really very enlightening altogether. THANK YOU.
I am currently listening to your new album Debris as i am writing all these. YET ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!!!
Peace & Love be unto you from this Domain!

Keep it up. Proud of you. What I’m most proud of is that you continue to not mold you or your humor to those around you. You always had a way of making people laugh because you’d say things that no one expected or ever heard before. I saw that in this video. And it made me smile. Thank you!

An absolutely spectacular video, Tony. I'd easily watch this for hours assuming that I'm not listening to your incredible music already.
Journey and Bloom, is easily amongst my top 5 music pieces from you. Wish to hear more impactful, emotional and motivational songs from you like Journey and Bloom and of course like any other amazing music that your produce.
    Keep up the great work!

Heard your interview today with Jameson Nathan James and it really resonated with me on so many levels. I just released my ninth album and it is generating more positive feedback than anything I've done in the past. I made a rule when I started this journey back in 2007: Make the music YOU want to make, not what others want you to make or what the "trends" dictate. I've never once deviated from that rule and it is finally beginning to pay off in the form of more and more people wanting to listen to my work. That is a dream come true. Literally. You're an inspiration, Tony, and your work is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I totally understand the sitting in the Chair. I totally agree on how essential it is to just calmly center yourself. Whenever I want to make music on my piano I do something similar. Coffee, feel the wind or breath in the fresh air, allow my mind to relax, then become inspired. I also live in Joplin Missouri making music but only on my piano. Another video idea maybe. If someone is trying to start making ambient music what equipment or programs is a good place to start. I also love your music bro. Your music inspires me to continually improve

Hello Tony, fellow ambient/cinematic musician evolving from a past life of a heavy rock guitarist in the 80s. I was living in Hawaii when MIDI was introduced and that was the end of my rock band life and the fact that I was always a closet keyboard/synth finatic, I went nuts with the entire MIDI revolution. Although I moved back to TX and became a commercial pilot in the early 90s I never stopped creating/composing in my continuous shapeshifting studio. I also suffer from (sometimes crippling) OCD & perfectionism. Dude! - the dust in the Augspurger's tweeter was killing me in this vid. But Seriously, I thoroughly enjoy your passionate approach to the craft. I am here from Andrew's video. Congratulations to finding peace and joy in living life my friend - that's what it is all about!!

    • @TonyAndersonMusic
      @TonyAndersonMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I love this. And I’m so thankful for your note. Believe it or not the “dust” in the tweeter is a rough surface - it’s almost scuffed - and it also drives me nuts. But rest assured there is no dust in the tweeter! I will never allow it. You still producing music???

@@TonyAndersonMusic Made my morning as I sat down with a bad cup of coffee (I so miss good coffee right now) and saw that you had taken the time to read my message. I won't go off about the personal struggles of the last 2.5 years, but I'll just say that I have much more time right now because of it and thus have reignited my musical passion more than ever. My partner of 17 years has been a high school chemistry teacher for even longer and she has saved my soul through some rough "stuff". She is very excited for me to hunker down in my 'cave of creation' that I am currently trying to reconfigure with the limited funds available. But all will prevail and I will be 58 in October moving forward with new found musical vitality. I will reach out with some basic stems & ideas in the fall when I am back up deep in the process. I notched yet another quiet 'Ariana' listen while gazing at the cover photo yesterday. Move forward, stay focused, harness as much happiness as possible, but NEVER forget your past - good and bad! I could write a bizarre book of my family and life and it isn't even over yet. Thank you Tony for your inspiring gift(s).

Also, this tour felt right from the heart.
Just a request, and also as you said, it's been a terrible year (last 365 days).
And as we speak, India is literally being torn apart by the virus.
I was just wondering if you could make a piece for India. A piece to lift up the spirits. A piece that commemorates the ones who are no longer with us. A piece that heals.

You are so full of life Tony, thank you. Going in to this video, I expected you to be really calm and reserved. I mean your music is so oblivion to me, I feel alive listening to it, steering away from the melancholy of our life. However, your thought process and perspective towards music and life is so modest and real. Please make more of these! I'm not yet over my favourite tracks by you - Eclosion, Retour, Ariana, Younger, Immanuel and Indigo of course. If you can, please talk about your thought process to create such unique sonics. How are they so emotionally heavy! What is your journey over these evolving sounds?
