I've been going to school at Berklee Online for music production, and now knowing how to properly build a home studio makes videos like these nerd fuel for me. Thanks for showing us the process!
Harris - Long time viewer here. Previously working on the storage industry, I HIGHLY recommend not having your NAS/server set up in the closet next to the AC unit. When it breaks/leaks that will nuke all 80 TB. Plus humidity levels are detrimental to electronics, even in dryer areas like Utah.
Awesome space man! I know you've worked hard for everything you have, but I'd by lying if I didn't say the nerd in me is jealous of a lot of this. I love nerding out over all things tech and this looks like such a fun space to go hog wild in. Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to more content out of this space!
I should have said my favorite things. I love the corsair desk, looks super functional. But I think my favorite is just the wired connectivity with all your 10GbE and the NAS. I need to get a NAS of my own setup (I don't need 80 TB though). Also, you need some old school arcade and pinball machines on one wall.
wow that looks insane! can't wait to see more of the transformation, imagine doing what you love on an awesome space like that and with all those stuff it's absolutely incredible and very inspiring! thanks for sharing and keep making amazing content.
1. Loved this video, come so far and enjoyed the transformation... Huge congrats to you and also everyone along the way. 2. Seriously missing the opportunity for a "ON AIR" light for Ryan or anyone to let you know when they are in the room (Room 3) rather than the down light. 3. *chants and places closed fists on table*....... "Mini Fridge, Mini Fridge, Mini Fridge!" :D
The simplicity of each space doing its own thing is great and helps it to have a focused impact. Would you ever consider doing audio and/or video streams over IP with your network backbone? That could allow any audio/video device to be recorded to any desk. Or for your live stream….to any desk that could be a multi streamer video switcher. Dante audio/video is the first that comes to mind with others out there such as NDI/AVB(Milan). It takes a lot more work for the programming of the space as a whole to function together with a lot of add ins that may not make sense for your business plan. Also, consider looking into resolume and/or pvp for your tv wall. You can do static/motion graphics driving those as singles or as one whole background for video podcasts. That’s what I’m currently designing for a video podcast set. Using 5 TVs as my backdrop. Whatever my personalities are, the content can be custom built to match for massive impact and cohesion. Since you alluded to multiple channels, have BTS video podcasts with the a different motion background to go with each. Thoughts??
I got myself an 8 foot butcher block for my desk and after spending all the time sanding, staining, and clear coating I can never go back. Absolutely love the butcher block style.
A 24ghz (mmWave) human presence detection in the studio connected to something like home assistant for turning on/off a "STUDIO IN USE" light would be pretty slick. No concerns about remembering to turn the light on/off, and with 24ghz, no need to rely on motion detection. (just thinking out loud)
Your space has been the envy of many streamers for a while, dude. My little 10x10 box I work in and stream in .. it's the catch all storage and "office". Someday maybe I'll graduate from that to a real studio office. For now .. I suppose I'm grateful there is no bed in my office. haha
It's crazy. I'm coming from a time where you gave tips to small streamers and Sam gave Editing and more "Tech" insights and tips. These days you are a multi millionaire with a huge monthly income due to streambeats (and maybe other companies) and you just habe the budget to completely flesh out everything in your studio to make your work and hobbies even more fun
This gives me so much inspiration for the studio I am wanting to redo and upgrade for my job. I do media and content creation for my Church and currently the recording studio is just bland and setup poorly for video recording. It works great for our podcasts but we only release them as audio because the studio is terrible for video. So this has given me some new life and ideas. As for helping the sterile look, I would add some colorful art and prints to the walls, if done the right the shadows can create some good depth of field and separation from the back ground. Also something that could look great is adding some GOBO lights to the walls to create some good patterns. Aperture makes some small app controlled light fixture with that feature, could really add some life, and with your already mounted truss its simple to add and wire in to your already existing system.
I use General Finishes, water based stain, on my butcher blocks, made them black, but you can still see under neath the finish. ive built 2 butcher block lift desks also i use Threaded Brass Inserts for securing stuff down. yeh great job! i like that, you actually do some of the work, keeps you grounded. 😀😀
Never really comment on your vids. however watching all of them always when they come out. Just wanting to say it so cool to see these transformations done to your creative space(s). And maybe a light advice to your 'sterile' area; I think as it's a huge space some nice big plants could do the trick with some nice wood-on-filt acoustic panels. Those panels could come as long as 3 meters here in The Netherlands. Anyway, just some random idea. Enjoy the next phase of making your creative space even more creative🙏
Man.. Just seeing all this blows my mind. I remember following this channel I think back in 2018. Back when you were renting a house and recording in that basement to now owning this house with a decked out basement. Keep it going!
one great sugesstion from a pro at everything. Do changes not based on creative ideas, but needs. You feel like you don't like something change that small thing. My room was basically that. There were also ideas, but all to fit a need. now i have found the optimum after probably like 7+ changes in the and even more other changes, and now it is almost perfect equilibrium. I guess sometimes too much choice is not too good?
Dude...!! Great to see you revitalising your hab... And it reminded me of the reason I initially fell in love with your channel. (Yes I found it as a resource for streaming online guidelines, but it's actually "you" and your beautifully in touch energy that I and I believe everyone else wants to be entertained and apart of..) Let's face it, you were never the #1 tech genius or some sort of expertise in the great wide world of videography. You were here talking to us about a trend and your personal journey onto a world stage. You have a gift..!! Your audience though incredibly diverse all feel as if your talking directly to us on a personally helpful level. And your cool...!!! (BTW: you look great, and inspiringly happy) So, here's my thought.... Make a channel and a new trend as a health and wellbeing guide for gaming geeks ... (Cause, even though we get older.. we can't escape what we are and why we're still here...) PC gamers, tech enthusiasts and music aficionados as a whole often forget about taking care of themselves... And I bet you would have a world of knowledge and relatable experience with the pitfalls of physical and mental health, when life is focused externally... Taking care of yourself is vital in the ability to provide for others, and unfortunately it's not always easy for these character types to identify their own deficiency, not to mention the serious lack of available solutions or realisation that so many people are unknowingly digging a hole in which they're destined for destruction. Balance is necessary in life, and if your a gamer, streamer, techy, or creative audio visual person.... Your personal health is usually well overlooked. Teach the people, the way you do, with your super cool, chill and down to earth style, about the lesson and benefits of being a healthy, happy and social geek...!!!? As always, I look forward to seeing your beautiful smile, and humble gesture of praise...
I would recommend some rice paper window cling film. Seeing the metal siding just feels like a basement. The rice paper fits the channel identity and looks way better.
Studio looks absolutely incredible! It's been great to be along for the ride, with the ups and downs along the way. Can't wait to see what's in store for 2024!
Very inspiring to watch your growth and journey (sincerely) with desk variables! 5:15 I feel like we are always changing as people and seeing the world differently too! That changes our outlook! Seriously, though, if I had known you had all the extra space with not being used, I would’ve asked you to come and rent it to record music! 🎶🎵🎸🎹
so I'm an audio engineer and voice actor. I play games in my studio and I've tried to explain to my friends how nuts it is to play on high-end studio monitors. Finally, a buddy came in from out of town and he sat at my control station and played Overwatch and he just turned and was like, "In no way, can you describe this to someone. They have to do it to understand....ludicrous." The depth, the directionality, etc. So much fun.
You will need a more modular system on ur walls in that back end space! U love change and sometimes that you can swap out with relative ease to add more sound proofing and a different feel will go along with you I feel! So I mean nothing permanent is my point! IT Nerd in Nashville. Insert usual pleasantries here to qualify my status as a viewer that has a valid reason you should take my comment(s) to heart. TBH, I got the GoXLR Mini solely due to your in-depth reviews and championing of their product and my voice presence went from a simple (heyo) from random people to (hey, you have a voice that sounds like you should be on the radio). I'm slowly leveraging this into some voice work that even if it doesn't take off, is still a ton of fun. Thanks for doing what you do. My professional life leaves me sometimes too tired to want to pursue any IT-related interests at home and your feedback, reviews, and gear setup helps me to bridge the gap between what I own and what I want to own.
Been using your channel religiously for tips on streaming and setup stuff. Thank you for motivating me to make content and stream. Its been a blast so far and I use a lot of your recommendations.
I'm taking 4:32 as an invitation to come try those studio monitors. But seriously, the growth of this space has been so cool to see and also learn from (thank you). See you in 2024!
As an editor, who has cut a a feature, Dustin should have a LOT more screen real estate. At least two 16x9 monitors, and a 3rd reference monitor. Or one enormous monitor (like the Odyssey Ark), and one reference monitor. Also, we gotta get you into the projector game. With as few windows as you have in your studio, and the ability to control light so well, get a short throw laser projector for one of those walls and you’ll never go back.
Love those studio tours... or planning / strategy videos, whatever you wanna call them. Whatever you do behind they scene is always great. Maybe a BTS channel?
Jumping on a plane in a 2-3 days time to pursue music fulltime from literally the other side of the world, in a more tropical environment (-30 announced here in Oslo next week, f that 😅). Will begin to build my own dream studio in a few weeks time. Thanks for the inspiration!
4:30 I've never gamed with studio monitors but I got a pair of 5" Presonus eris ones for my editing setup and listening to music on them is a freaking magical experience. The stereo imaging of them has also helped a lot with doing sound design in videos
Love the new space but it needs some art to liven it up, plus any decent canvas will absorb some of the sound reflections too, so it can be beautiful AND functional :)
As someone who is working on my own new home studio this is awesome. I'm nowhere near that kind of budget. I work a 40+ hr day job and whatever extra money I get goes into the company that I incorporated this year. Looking for 2024 to be the breakout year for me as a 1 man shop with the exception of the Pro Wrestling filming.
Maybe you should set up a studio kitchen next, Have guest chefs over. I would love to have room for a music studio. I have some gear now, but I need space for everything.
Hey Harris, awesome studio setup! Just a heads up, the comparison with the Yamahas seemed a bit off. I'm a fan of Mackie too, but the Yamahas are fantastic. The sound issue you highlighted might've been caused by interference leaking into your system-maybe a ground loop or even a nearby LED light affecting your audio cables. Usually, your technical advice is spot on, so this felt a bit unusual. Other than that, your projects are really stepping up professionally. Keep up the great work!
Dude, you have inspired my stream. I love your videos. I enjoy the content. You have my instant respect. BTW can you make a video on boom arms? Also what’s your favorite boom arm?
If it was Dota 2, THIS. Is the Ultimate ability of Harris Heller gear content. 1 gear piece at a time = level 1 usual ability. A hierarchy of gear pieces = level max ability. But this for sure is the pinnacle of the demonstration, the WHOLE THING collected by the senpai.
Awesome space. Plenty of ideas. May I ask for a GOXLR and GOXLR MIC video (there is NOT one video anywhere with this setup). The MICs were in the shot of the shelves. Some of us have not upgraded or found the need to upgrade. Hoping you will consider this.
Thank you for being a gaming senpai of mine, it really helped me start my content creation journey‼ Currently loving getting back into school learning lighting, sound, ext. in pursuit of one day maybe build my own studio. Great content as always I look forward to seeing this before and after video fr!👍😀
I've had my eye on the Corsair Platform desk for a little while, however, the only thing holding me back is that I want a triple monitor setup, and I think it can only take a double monitor, unless I am mistaken.
I see a 17min Harris video, I click. It's a simple transaction. I love you showing the space, but also showing the mistakes, and the planning. For a lot of people that look to you as inspiration for content careers, showing the hits and more importantly misses, is awesome. So yeah, more BTS!
I genuinely think you will be forever iterating on the configuration of this space. It's just...you, haha! Lookin' forward to seeing what it looks like this time next year, where you announce phase 3!
Don't make it the envy of all of TH-cam, make it the envy of yourself the previous year - then keep pushing that. Linus is out here building warehouses and hiring armys, you don't have to do that to be a better version of what you're doing now - just continue to iteratively improve. Awesome updates too!
I'm trying to build my first set up. Won't be anything as nice as this but am curious on that black desk setup. Mainly the pegboard. Does that pegboard just mount onto the desk? Do you have a set up guide or tour on it? Would love to know more about it.
Comment EITHER your favorite thing about this space or a suggestion to improve.
Can i come try God of War on your setup with the speakers? Lol
Everything looks cool
Really love the butcher block desks
I would love to see some of those white walls covered in murals from some of the great content creator painters/artists
Can we get dustin a gimbal for that camera?
It’s been so cool to see this space come together! Love the genuine excitement/joy from the Mackie monitors. Seeing that Mackies my day.
Commenter Tom is the punnier Tom.
Imagine the table broke the sledge hammer and that’s why the video got cut 😂 really enjoyed seeing the new space and everything you’re doing with it!
Started watching you back in 2019, you've come a long way! Keep being awesome

The StreamBeats Recording Studio is my favorite room.
The light and the decoration are wonderful.

4:33 Ok, when?
I really enjoy watching your videos man. Feels genuine and story telling like 🤷🏻♂️ if that makes sense. Happy new year to all and 🥂 2024 here we go!
Holy sh-!! I love how you livened up your main space especially, but it's really coming together overall!
Your space has been the envy of many streamers for a while, dude. My little 10x10 box I work in and stream in .. it's the catch all storage and "office". Someday maybe I'll graduate from that to a real studio office. For now .. I suppose I'm grateful there is no bed in my office. haha

Man like its like supernatural, "the road so far" , it is insane and the content just marvelous, u guys rock.
Loving the space and also having a recording studio is a dream I always had but unfortunately was never possible. Very nice :)

Butcher block is so worth it. For those wondering why it's so pricey.... wait till you pick it up... heavier than ANYTHING.

nice! I have been using the HR824 mk2s since 2008 for recording/mixing. Amazing speakers! Some of the best value in the price range.
This studio is ABSOLUTELY INSANE and I love it! Incredible work.
Great improvements. My entire studio is 8 foot by 5 foot. One day it will be massive. You need a green room just because.
Studio looks absolutely incredible! It's been great to be along for the ride, with the ups and downs along the way. Can't wait to see what's in store for 2024!
Watching development videos gives great pleasure. Especially such setup developments.

Looks amazing. I just moved and need to dial in my space (not to the same degree) and you've given me some ideas!
Happy 2024 🔥👍🎮👑💚 "Well done-you've worked very hard!" W Senpai for Luck!!! Warmth; Wonder; Wisdom; Wealth; Wellness; Worthiness. Thanks Harris!
Looking forward to seeing the changes.
Love the banter and the studio updates!!!! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING !!! Cant wait to see whats next!

I LOVE yours and Dustins relationship!
You will need a more modular system on ur walls in that back end space! U love change and sometimes that you can swap out with relative ease to add more sound proofing and a different feel will go along with you I feel! So I mean nothing permanent is my point! Also change the light in the hallway that it switches on when the lights are on in the recording studio so if someone forgot it doesn’t matter! Studio lights are on then that hallway light on!
I love that you took care of Justin. His setup is king 👑.
Your whole setup and journey is a huge inspiration.
Suggestion for your new channel/next channel(s?)... you were using a Lav for a lot of the tour footage, it looked like the DJI Mic set. Can you do some videos focused more on vlogging tech and maybe the DJI mic 2 when it goes to retail and isnt just a pack-in with their new camera? Been streaming for a while and started messing around with vlogging and would love your opinions on the wireless systems out there and their benefits vs shotgun mics etc.

why you stop streaming?
@@CRF250R1521 went through a bad breakup, had to kick her out, and just couldnt afford the bills on my own. Had to sell my set up.
Looks amazing! And its just going to get better!

Also, we gotta get you into the projector game. With as few windows as you have in your studio, and the ability to control light so well, get a short throw laser projector for one of those walls and you’ll never go back.

my god this merch is crazy, good work!! absolute fire
Harris Heller I swear to GOD if you broke that table I'm gonna pitch a fit...that was some beautiful marble!

What an awesome space to be in. Love it
absolutely insane. love it!
For the love of god man - put some Pictures on the wall! They should represent what you love. These videos & what you do is very inspiring.
Dude, you have inspired my stream. I love your videos. I enjoy the content. You have my instant respect. BTW can you make a video on boom arms? Also what’s your favorite boom arm?

Harris you need to see this music studio my company built in Colrain, MA IT IS CRAZY you'd LOVE it!!
loooove the audio room 🔥
That's a god-tier studio setup. Also spied a few new guitars there... can we hope for a Senpai Guitar Reviews channel in 2024, maybe?
I wish I could get to here, but the likelihood of that is not that high! Great job with it all.
Awesome space. Plenty of ideas. May I ask for a GOXLR and GOXLR MIC video (there is NOT one video anywhere with this setup). The MICs were in the shot of the shelves. Some of us have not upgraded or found the need to upgrade. Hoping you will consider this.
Epic. This type of video has so much value for creators. This is why you are the senpai...
Much more like an mkbhd video. Just more natural. Thumbs up.
Thank you for being a gaming senpai of mine, it really helped me start my content creation journey‼ Currently loving getting back into school learning lighting, sound, ext. in pursuit of one day maybe build my own studio. Great content as always I look forward to seeing this before and after video fr!👍😀
P.S. Treat Your Editor Right 😂😀
you gotta live in a space for awhile to learn what it needs or what you need from it! glad you are mastering it!
I've had my eye on the Corsair Platform desk for a little while, however, the only thing holding me back is that I want a triple monitor setup, and I think it can only take a double monitor, unless I am mistaken.
~ Amazing tour Studio 🤩👌🏼 ~
I see a 17min Harris video, I click. It's a simple transaction. I love you showing the space, but also showing the mistakes, and the planning. For a lot of people that look to you as inspiration for content careers, showing the hits and more importantly misses, is awesome. So yeah, more BTS!
Love the update, would be interested to hear about running costs one year on and sustainability plans for the space.
Studio looks really looks good. Id love to work in a studio like that. I feel it needs more break areas, comfy sofas or chairs to sit on etc
Yeah im in! lets see that sledgework!
It's the dream to have something like this! Best of luck for phase 2!
This is the dream! Congrats on the space, excited for phase 2
I'm trying to build my first set up. Won't be anything as nice as this but am curious on that black desk setup. Mainly the pegboard.
Does that pegboard just mount onto the desk?
Do you have a set up guide or tour on it?
Would love to know more about it.
Glad to hear Ryan is still around, unsure when we last saw him in a video actually.
What a beautiful studio, congrats!
🙏🏼 Love the update. 😊
I have to agree with the ‘sterile’ adjective, but I just chalked it up to you being a pro lol
how do you find liquid-cooled PC over other types of cooling?
mmmmmmm you had me "acoustical ceiling lighting fixture"
I follow all big tech youtubers, yet there was one I still wasn't subscribed to. I noticed you senpai! Subscribed!
yo i havent seen your channel in so long this is such a nostalgic flash back
❤ this looks like a sweet work environment
