Great tutorial! I ended up getting slightly smaller clasps since the ones you use are harder to get here in Canada lol but they should do the trick. Excited to see your next tutorial keep up the great work!
Hello, as you mentioned, you can also use screws too instead of rivets. What size would you recommend, and will they keep the clasp secure enough? Do you have an example of a helmet you did using screws?
Great tutorial. Great content as always and dope helmet collection….. but …. Yooo!!!!! What’s up with that cell shaded Mando helmet? That thing looks sweet! Great paint job!
Also, did you just spray paint the buckles after you had them mounted and were spraying the whole helmet? Or did you find it would have been easier to paint the buckles first and then mount them? It seems like it might be hard to get all of the sides of the buckle while it's on the helmet and keep the paint from running.
I show in my build videos that I put them on before primer stage. It's not hard to get them covered and often I spray multiple light coats I don't try to cover everything at one timen
Question, do you reinforce your helmets with resin? Because I was able to put one set Clasps on my 3-D printed helmet and the clasp splits the 3-D print. Just wanted to know what you do that way I can avoid this happening again in the future.
@@SaturdayMorningProps Okay gotcha thanks for the response I’m gonna try to reinforce it with some UV resin before I continue putting on the clasps, hopefully that helps lol.
First helmet I clasped, I went to hard with the rivet and cracked the helmet 😵💫 Luckily it was just the back segment so printing/sanding wasn't to bad. If I had done it to the front of the helmet I think I would have cried Awesomely informative vid as always dude 🤘
Yeahhh... The clasps can definitely do some damage and rivets are so permanent. I had one before that the buckles weren't tight enough and kinda jingled and was pretty annoying
Do you ever notice issues with the rivers pulling through the hole? I used the same riverts and drilled a hole that was their size (3/32) but a couple of them pulled right through when I clamped the hand riveter down. Other ones also spilt the plastic when they clamped tight. Nothing a little bondo can’t fix but curious if you ran into that?
@@zachhalliwell553 I haven't had any issues but I've seen some people worried about cracking, make sure you have the rivet as pushed in as possible before squeezing the handle. Also have heard the suggestion of using a washer on the opposite side but have never needed that.
@@SaturdayMorningProps mmm a washer might be a good idea. I did have them pushed as far in as possible but they still pulled through a bit, probably because the plastic can’t stand up to the pressure of the metal. So a washer would be a good idea. I think the cracks are okay, it didn’t spit more than an inch so I just filled it with some super glue and I’ll cover it with bondo and give it another sanding and it should be good.
@@SaturdayMorningProps that was my next thought, unfortunately I’m missing whichever bit is slightly smaller than 3/32 haha. But maybe I’ll go pick one up. I’m using 3 walls and gyroid infill at 5%, which doesn’t sound like a lot but there’s still a lot of structure in there and they’re really strong otherwise.
I really like the buckle version. But the helmets look fantastic either way.
Yeah I definitely like both versions 🤘
i am looking forward to printing all the helmets myself.. this is great advice. thank you
Glad I could help! Feel free to ask any questions that come up!
Absolutely amazing. Straight to the point. Thanks for including the links.
Happy to help
its also good to use washers on the inside of the helmet so the rivet doesnt break through at some point.

Clamps are not exact by any means so I'm sure they will look great no matter what! 🤘🏼
Awesome tutorial, can't wait for mine to get here! Just got it done this morning and sent me photos, gunna be awesome to paint and add the details
Thank you so much bro !!! I cant wait to place an order this information was super helpful !
You've got this man 🤘🏼

As always, thanks bro!
Thanks for the support brotha 🤘🏼
Great video as usual my brother. I think the link for the clasps leads to the face shield though.
Dang it!
Should be fixed 🤘🏼
How do you paint the buckles afterwards? Do just go over it with primer and paint? Great video btw
I always put them on before I primer the helmet, so after my last step of sanding
Great video! Do you know what size clasps were used on the show, or what size you are using? They look great!
Thanks! Clasps are the ones linked in the description
About to blow this mans mind. Magnets.
If youre trying to match the originals a lot had clasps, magnets are dope for some but not all
Do you have a tutorial for how you do the hinge at the top. That's the piece I just can't figure out the best way to do.
I like the clasps
Definitely my preferred wayb

Thanks for noticing 🤣 I showcased it on Instagram early on and it didn't get any love but seems to be getting more attention
amazing video my dude im just about to start my set of helmets what white files did you use? i have the move one but i want the one from the show
Malas.pulgas.designs has a great white for 5 bucks, do3d updated there white and it's pretty nice and you can get 20% off with code Q4N20
Do you just spray paint the buckles before you apply them to the helmet then?
No I apply them right before I do my first layer of primer, give my yellow ranger tutorial a watch and you will see

@@SaturdayMorningProps nice cool thanks!
What hinges do you use on the top part of the helmet?
Question how do you paint them without any problem?
@@TheMovieUniverse yup if you watch my green ranger video, I put them on before the primer step so they get primed then painted
@@SaturdayMorningProps ok thanks.

I don't, I actually haven't had that issue really. I've heard you can put a little washer on the inside to help reinforce it

Mine first one cracked too, after that i'm doing magnet mount only. Of course from time to time I want to try again, but well.. i'm afraid a little.
@@mateuszwagner2959 completely understandable
@@mateuszwagner2959 I've done magnets on another one I did. But I gotta admit, I love that clasp look and feel 👌

How much is it to bye the mastodon helmet

Squeeze you in tight 😂

Nice video sir, but they are not buckle. 😜
They are clasps 😁👍
If you look at the full title I actually refer to them both ways, so that people searching can find it if they type either
what size are the rivets? diameter x length 2.4x6mm?
3/32 are the ones I use out of the harbor freight hand riveter pack
Does malas.pulgas have an stl store
