@@richardjeng They can, simply because they tend to get very attached to their humans. I don't notice it so much with our current dog because he is crate-trained, so he isn't loose while we are gone. He does get very upset if I go into a store and I leave him in the car for a moment. However, as soon as I try to take him in, he gets all nervous and hides. We're still working on that one.
I have always wanted a big purebred standard poodle. My friend is an avid Schnauzer lover, rescuer and will spend THOUSANDS on her own. She knew how much I wanted a poodle and she felt I would give him a good home. A lady had to be put in a nursing home and wanted a good home for her black, 6yr old Standard. I left the very day I was told about him and he’s been with me on my 12 acre horse farm for 4-5 months now. I can’t quit looking at him! He never wants to leave my side. In the house, he is so chill. Outside he barks like the king he is, shouting orders at deer and other woodland creatures. He LOVES people and treats my 2 tiny dogs so gently and attentively. As far as cost, I’m way ahead of the game because she knew I would have him as long as I was alive and let me have him for free. He eats well, rests well and adjusted very quickly. I did notice a slight depression the first few days, but it passed quickly as we have about an acre and a half in chain link fence for him and his Blue Heeler brother who showed him the ropes. Two lovely sentries keeping the yard safe. I am beyond BLESSED to share life with him!
I have a rescue mini. The grooming is constant, professional and home combing, nails, eye cleaning, ear cleaning. They grow hair out of everything and need their ears cleaned, toes clipped etc. Sensitive, discipline is just a stern talking - he gets it. Scary intelligent. Mine knows our schedule (I have 3 other dogs) and will bark at me if I'm late - in mealtime, walk time, getting up and going to bed. Nag, nag, nag. Has physically snagged a bird out of the air with a huge leap. May look fluffy, but this is a DOG, man!
I can let one of mine run free at all times. She just walks right next to me, looking up to make sure I don't get ahead of her. And if I speed up and run, she does too. No need for treats, she's just naturally Velcro.
I lost my miniature poodle last April. He was the best dog I have ever had. His name was Winston. He squatted when he peed and never marked anywhere inside or outside. He had a full blooded sister from a different litter and we still have her. She is 14 years old now. Winston and his sister, Lulu were both very easy to train and absolutely lovely lovely dogs. I bought another miniature poodle puppy this past November and his name is Bentley. He does not squat when he pees and he has marked in the house. However, he is fully potty trained now and even though he’s nothing like Winston, he’s an absolutely wonderful companion. He’s just over a year old now. Lulu’s not real fond of him as he tries to engage her in play and she wants nothing to do with that… Poodles are the only breed for us. We love that they don’t shed and they are groomed monthly.
🐩 My first Pound Poodle (purebred rescue) was eerily smart. She also didn’t like to be left home alone. I bought her a puzzle toy to distract her when I would be leaving the house to go out. I put the treat filled toy as far away from the door as possible. By the time, I got my bag and walked to the door, she was right beside me. Thinking that she didn’t know how to access the treats in the puzzle, I went back to look at it. The treats were all found and eaten. I ditched the puzzle and from that day on took her with me all of the time. My second Pound Poodle suffers from separation anxiety. She cries so loudly and consistently that she can be heard at the end of the block! Just like my first Pound Poodle, my second Pound Poodle also has me trained to take her with me all the time. These dogs are wicked smart. If possible, they will do their best to outsmart you. On the other hand, as many other Poodle owners have told me, once you go Poodle, you never go back. That’s because although all dogs rock, only Poodles rock and roll with style. * P.S. * I’m sure that all dog owners feel this way about their own darling doggos. The wonderful thing is that they are all correct! 🐩
The poodle is one of the few breeds, however, which must be groomed because like us, they have hair, not fur, that needs frequent cutting. Just a “basic” wash/cut/blowout costs me $100 every 4-6 weeks. That is considerable.
My family had a rescue poodle when I was a child. Then I got one of my own for my 11th birthday. I learned how to groom him myself and saved my parents money by keeping him trimmed between going to the groomers (especially with 2 dogs). I have been grooming my own dogs ever since. Love poodles!!! So smart 🐩 🐩 🐩
@@fauxtaux True....but it is rally not that difficult.....I was moving to a neighboring Province and would be too far away from the lady who had been my regular groomer.....she and her helper showed me how to do the basic clip...I even ran the clipper over part of my face before clipping their muzzles....now I can zip through my three like and old pro! Just get good clippers and shears....not the cheap pet store clippers....go online an get a Wahl Bravura or Andis dual speed corded clipper..

I bought my 8 month poodle 5 days ago that wasn't trained properly (never been walked on a leash, never knew her name or commands) but she's been so sweet and quiet. Doesn't really bark at all, falls asleep when I groom her (her fur was matted), she is so good walking on the leash now after the second day and when I took her today for a walk she didn't bark at the dogs, some even tried to say hello to her. She did try to bark at a dog but after calling her (her new name which she knows) she gave me her full attention and followed me. She's walking around the house following us everywhere lol but if we set down on the sofa she just sleeps next to us. She's the sweetest and is already popular with everyone lol.
The biggest consideration is which poodle? Poodles are very versatile, and depending on the breeder, breeder stock or parents, may lean in different directions. Hunting poodles may be more active, higher prey drive, and need lots of exercise. What about confirmation champions? To show well and be "up" for 3 days of grooming, show life, and walk in the ring with confidence - that may require a specific temperament. Very calm and patient while on a grooming table and big presence in the ring, and loves attention. While emotional support, therapy, or companion poodles exhibit human focus, sensitivity, and sometimes desire to be part of the family. Seek out the type of poodle that best suits your life style for the next 12-17 years. I've had 10 standard poodles and all different. 9 out of the 10 were OK with less exercise to relax. 1 hunting - show poodle required 4 miles per day, every day. Some poodles can get into chewing for a year or so, others not ever. Some bark some not so much. Thus ask a lot of questions and don't settle on the least expensive poodle ... because it's the lifetime costs that count most.
@marcuscasillas7286 - only when someone drives up and they hear. Many UPS deliveries have been zero barking. One poodle tends to bark at odd sounds she isn't used to. They are not big barkers as long as they see I am OK with "x" sound or event outside. Most dogs will drive anyone crazy if allowed to bark at people walking past the house - dog barks, people walk away (natural to keep walking but dog gets rewarded in this scenario).
Ur video is the most honest of all the ones I’ve seen. Most ppl keep saying they are 100% hypo. And don’t shed. How does that make any sense. Even humans shed hair. Thx for the info.
I had a a mini poodle, she was affectionate, intelligent, and great company. I don't think it was much work or expense, just what small dogs normally are. She will be in my heart forever. I recommend a poodle.
I've got a beautiful phantom min poodle! Training starts day 1( 1stly sit, stay, recall!) No long walks as puppies for 5 months to prevent hip issues! She's not destructive or yappy = trained! I groom her myself, $20-30 for a pair of clippers, lasted me 6 yrs so far! She doesn't like sudden motorbike sounds, so I always walk her on the inside away from the road! On the beach taught her to avoid hunting seagulls by a simple "NO- leave" command! I don't agree with the majority of this video! There are no bad dogs - only bad owners! She's a wonderful obedient dog, gentle & nondestructive! Be the pack leader for any dog, that's all they need & want!
Toy poodles have more Chihuahua in them than miniature poodles, so they will bark more and, sometimes, rip up pillows or garbage in protest due to separation anxiety. Mind you I adobted an untrained Xtra small toy poodle that was alreay 7 yrs old. I have owned a miniature poodle for 17 yrs and he had a laid back attitude...never barked much. Had separation anxiety, but stayed calm in a cage. He slept on the bed and he never triggered my allergies at all and only needed a total of an hour walk a day.
Poodles are awesome. Yes they are energetic but super intelligent. Also, two hours is too much exercise. A good 45 min to an hour is fine. I once took my dog for a long walk and after about 1 hour he literally just stopped in the street and laid down!😂

My toy poodle does require lots of mental stimulation and regular grooming (once a month by professional groomer and daily by me). She also needs at least one hour per day to be outside, running and be very active.
Totally disagree unless your doing averages 😏on the week days no way he is getting an hour a day some days may be better than others 😊but on the weekends we go in!! Have a blast - but it may not turn out to be an hour a week . My dog appropriately adapted to my lifestyle- but for sure he for walks twice a day
My Standard Poodle could easily jump my 4 ft. Fence. For her first few years she did not realize it. But once she did, she could never be contained again. She had a huge prey drive & if she saw a squirrel or rabbit, off she went. I live only a few houses from a very busy street so it was only a matter of time until she got hit. It broke my heart but I had to rehome her. A farm on a non busy road with nothing but soybean fields in every direction.
1-2 hours a DAY, only in your dreams, our mini wants to be active more like 6-8 hours a day, and constantly follows us around looking to go out, play, bringing us her toys, etc. The good part is that ANY activity is ok, including shopping, cafe, visiting friends, holidays etc.
The good part about grooming a standard poodle: If you keep them cut short, they are super easy to groom and wash. All it takes is a good shaver with attachments. Get them started young. Don't allow any "no" reactive behavior. It's not up to them, don't give in. Do give them breaks, however. If it took 3 hours to do your hair, you'd want a break occasionally too. Give extra attention to the dirtier areas to avoid issues as the hair grows out (butt, groin, mouth, ears, eyes). Keep the paw hair trimmed and the claws short, as they love to run. Check their paws every so often as their webbed feet can hide injuries/issues.
The most accurate video about poodles I have ever seen I wish I had found this before getting mine. I love her, but she's a noisy, stubborn, nervous, hyperactive, disobedient ahole sometimes.... Other breeds would have suited my lifestyle and personality a lot more
Well, many of the things you have talked about are referred to all dogs. They all need to go to the vet, to be groomed etc. I cannot be happier with my Toy Poodle, and he never barks, by the way. He is the solution against sedentarism. I am convinced my health is improving because of him!
I have two 2 yr old mini poodles both female and they are not what I consider high energy. They really don't like long walks, they also don't bark much and just like following me around and cuddling. Absolutely the best dogs. I feed Farmers dog so that alone I can spend $500 in a few months.
Tip on excess barking.....Garmin training collars....they have three settings, tone, vibrate and stimulate (static shock).....I have only had to use the stimulate setting twice on the barkiest one....all respond to just a quick vibration, and stop barking...handy for that one who wants to chase prey. Fortunately mine are more interested in retrieving and flushing. Another tip.....us Positive Gun Dog training methods.....reward based training that poodles really respond to....being as smart as they are. One more thing....get rid of those paddle style door handles if you live in cold weather and want your doors to stay closed most of the day.....
A good breeder also will not let you buy their poodle unless you know what it takes evolving regular proper grooming and mental and physical stimulation.
These are all things everyone will tell you about Poodles. One thing that doesn't get said enough by far is Intelligent Does Not Mean Easy To Train - They will be rules lawyers and they Will relitigate on occasion. - Shaping may be frustrating because as you demand more, they take it as unfair since they already performed the initial ask perfectly. They can also offer half-assed attempts and insist they did what was asked. - They can shape your behaviours. Before you know it, you'll be heating up their breakfast in the microwave. . They will question your judgement and may offer alternate opinions/solutions. - They will generalise less, so proofing a behaviour for context is a challenge. Perfect manners with you and strangers doesn't mean they won't be a jumpy, needy pest with your family. Another thing is: mental exercise is more important than physical exercise. Neither should be ignored, but on a foul weather day, a short walk and some training and nosework is way better than a long walk and no work. Puzzle toys are useless with Poodles. Learn to stuff a Kong in a challenging way. Do treat hiding. There is nothing worse than a Poodle who's in great condition but bored out of his mind... except maybe a Labdaroodle in great condition who's bored And hungry...
Hello. I just got a 6 month mini poodle. First time pet owner and never really been around pups too long. I have seasonal asthma but thought that because they don’t shed I was going to be ok… it’s been a week and I’ve been using my inhaler daily (normally just activates during summer with humidity never with cold weather which we have now). It’s breaking my heart to think it’s because of the pup. Aside of my asthma I am also breaking out a bit on my hands chest and neck. Anyone have a similar experience?
No breed or type of animal is going to be exactly like the next. I had 2 poodles for almost 20 years and one was super smart, relaxed, and protective. The other one was kind of a hyper, mouthy dumbass. They were so different but equally loved and missed.
Doesnt matter what look you want for your poodle you take them to a grooming salon every 6-8 weeks with regular brushing and showering inbetween. Poodles are very high maintenance dogs.

@MsTarentum I agree! Mini-poodle teeth seem especially difficult. I read about it, but didn't really know how important it is to them e v e r y night. Our mini had as many teeth removed by age 3, as our other little boy (not a poodle) did at age 10 - 11. Our mini doesn't love chewies (first dog ever) which makes it harder. to keep tartar off. God I love him tho. 💕💕
To me they are the perfect dog Standards are a bit different but they are all very smart , sweet , and kind . I will never enjoy and respect another hypoallergenic or otherwise breed . I’ve found my life long sweet friend .
I've owned dogs my entire life, owned Beagles for 30 years, bred for 18 years, competed in AKC conformation for 5 years... thought I was ready for a mini poodle. Lord, no I wasn't. This pup is gorgeous but a complete nightmare. Excessively mouthy, trainability on par with my Beagles (honestly, my field bred hounds showed better tractability in some areas), housebreaking progress meh, at home grooming is worse than ALL THE SHEDDING, the bark is high pitched to the point of intolerability. The mouthiness is apparently a retrieving dog trait (?) and is at such a level you cannot touch this pup without being bitten. Life with this animal is legit nothing more than attempting to control barking and biting. I'm far from a canine training newbie, but have never had so many issued rolled up in a 12 week old ball of fur :/ In fact, all the nightmare scenarios I've heard about Beagles are not what I experienced with that breed, but with this yappy little poodle. The moral of this story is that some breeds legitimately are not for some people, so do all the digging you can to find both positives and negatives. Also, while my pup is AKC registered, there is also some question as to whether there was mixed breeding somewhere in his heritage, which would definitely cause behavioral issues not common to poodles. Especially with this breed, due to the popularity of "poo" mixes, it really is buyer beware. You can't be too careful or research too thoroughly. *Steps off soapbox*
The biting is a training issue and has to be stopped very young, at the puppy stage. Then again, minis are a lot less tractable than a standard, as stated. Our toys we had when I was growing up were yappy and nippy, reminiscent of a chihuahua. We were able to train it out simply by a loud OW! or NO! to startle. If you are used to a beagle, their bark/noise is very different. They talk back...a lot. It's a trait I both love and hate at the same time. Our current standard is very lovey and only gets upset when a loud noise happens. He has never bitten in an aggressive way...only in play and has a very gentle, soft mouth.
I disagree that poodles don't recall. My mini will hide a treat and come back in a few hours to retrieve it. She will leave a kibble on her bed and run off to play. When she came back her brother had eaten. She kept looking for that kibble for 30 minutes. She went over to her brother and sniffed him. Then she started attacking him, nipping him. My poodle at her heaviest is 14 lbs, her brother is a Labrador coming in at 100lbs.
Spend lots on grooming? I used to....but I have three Standards and my wife had several strokes and is in a care facility....so, no money for grooming.....not a problem, as I already had two sets of pro clippers and shears....so have been able to maintain the basic puppy clip style without much hassle really.....

My male standard at 2 1/2 years is 63 pounds. I was hoping for55 max. I’ve had several large breeds and I always thought I had some pretty smart dogs. They weren’t smart compared to this poodle. The bond this dog has with my wife is a huge bonus. 🐩

This video is a joke. My standard poodle is a fabulous dog. The fact that I know how to train might have something to do with it. He’s fine at home alone, has never damaged a single item in our house, and is very quiet. I’ve learned to groom my poodle and in fact it’s become an enjoyable hobby. When I bathe my poodle or brush my poodle he doesn’t lose a single hair. My wife has zero issues with allergies. Not the case withother breeds we’ve had. This ridiculous video is full of disinformation in my opinion.
I just can't with people who call poodles intelligent. Why do so many people say they are stupid... I used to do a lot of house sitting. If a Poodle was involved, it was a mission . Should have asked for more money. It was one of the dumbest dogs I had to deal with.

Standard poodles are a pain in the ass! Heavy barking, agressive, hyperactive, runs after cars, attacks other dogs, not friendly with all humans, bites, nips, not very affectionate ... get a mini or toy poodle...

She's walking around the house following us everywhere lol but if we set down on the sofa she just sleeps next to us. She's the sweetest and is already popular with everyone lol.

I've had 10 standard poodles and all different. 9 out of the 10 were OK with less exercise to relax. 1 hunting - show poodle required 4 miles per day, every day. Some poodles can get into chewing for a year or so, others not ever. Some bark some not so much. Thus ask a lot of questions and don't settle on the least expensive poodle ... because it's the lifetime costs that count most.

@marcuscasillas7286 - only when someone drives up and they hear. Many UPS deliveries have been zero barking. One poodle tends to bark at odd sounds she isn't used to. They are not big barkers as long as they see I am OK with "x" sound or event outside. Most dogs will drive anyone crazy if allowed to bark at people walking past the house - dog barks, people walk away (natural to keep walking but dog gets rewarded in this scenario).

I had a a mini poodle, she was affectionate, intelligent, and great company. I don't think it was much work or expense, just what small dogs normally are. She will be in my heart forever. I recommend a poodle.
I've got a beautiful phantom min poodle! Training starts day 1( 1stly sit, stay, recall!) No long walks as puppies for 5 months to prevent hip issues! She's not destructive or yappy = trained! I groom her myself, $20-30 for a pair of clippers, lasted me 6 yrs so far! She doesn't like sudden motorbike sounds, so I always walk her on the inside away from the road! On the beach taught her to avoid hunting seagulls by a simple "NO- leave" command! I don't agree with the majority of this video! There are no bad dogs - only bad owners! She's a wonderful obedient dog, gentle & nondestructive! Be the pack leader for any dog, that's all they need & want!

Toy poodles have more Chihuahua in them than miniature poodles, so they will bark more and, sometimes, rip up pillows or garbage in protest due to separation anxiety.
Mind you I adobted an untrained Xtra small toy poodle that was alreay 7 yrs old.
I have owned a miniature poodle for 17 yrs and he had a laid back attitude...never barked much. Had separation anxiety, but stayed calm in a cage.
He slept on the bed and he never triggered my allergies at all and only needed a total of an hour walk a day.
Poodles are awesome. Yes they are energetic but super intelligent. Also, two hours is too much exercise. A good 45 min to an hour is fine. I once took my dog for a long walk and after about 1 hour he literally just stopped in the street and laid down!😂

My toy poodle does require lots of mental stimulation and regular grooming (once a month by professional groomer and daily by me). She also needs at least one hour per day to be outside, running and be very active.

😊but on the weekends we go in!! Have a blast - but it may not turn out to be an hour a week . My dog appropriately adapted to my lifestyle- but for sure he for walks twice a day

My Standard Poodle could easily jump my 4 ft. Fence. For her first few years she did not realize it. But once she did, she could never be contained again. She had a huge prey drive & if she saw a squirrel or rabbit, off she went. I live only a few houses from a very busy street so it was only a matter of time until she got hit. It broke my heart but I had to rehome her. A farm on a non busy road with nothing but soybean fields in every direction.
1-2 hours a DAY, only in your dreams, our mini wants to be active more like 6-8 hours a day, and constantly follows us around looking to go out, play, bringing us her toys, etc. The good part is that ANY activity is ok, including shopping, cafe, visiting friends, holidays etc.
Definitely super high energy level! It transfers to Doodles as well.

The good part about grooming a standard poodle: If you keep them cut short, they are super easy to groom and wash. All it takes is a good shaver with attachments. Get them started young. Don't allow any "no" reactive behavior. It's not up to them, don't give in. Do give them breaks, however. If it took 3 hours to do your hair, you'd want a break occasionally too. Give extra attention to the dirtier areas to avoid issues as the hair grows out (butt, groin, mouth, ears, eyes). Keep the paw hair trimmed and the claws short, as they love to run. Check their paws every so often as their webbed feet can hide injuries/issues.

Well, many of the things you have talked about are referred to all dogs. They all need to go to the vet, to be groomed etc. I cannot be happier with my Toy Poodle, and he never barks, by the way. He is the solution against sedentarism. I am convinced my health is improving because of him!

I have two 2 yr old mini poodles both female and they are not what I consider high energy. They really don't like long walks, they also don't bark much and just like following me around and cuddling. Absolutely the best dogs. I feed Farmers dog so that alone I can spend $500 in a few months.

Tip on excess barking.....Garmin training collars....they have three settings, tone, vibrate and stimulate (static shock).....I have only had to use the stimulate setting twice on the barkiest one....all respond to just a quick vibration, and stop barking...handy for that one who wants to chase prey. Fortunately mine are more interested in retrieving and flushing. Another tip.....us Positive Gun Dog training methods.....reward based training that poodles really respond to....being as smart as they are. One more thing....get rid of those paddle style door handles if you live in cold weather and want your doors to stay closed most of the day.....

A good breeder also will not let you buy their poodle unless you know what it takes evolving regular proper grooming and mental and physical stimulation.

One thing that doesn't get said enough by far is
Intelligent Does Not Mean Easy To Train
- They will be rules lawyers and they Will relitigate on occasion.
- Shaping may be frustrating because as you demand more, they take it as unfair since they already performed the initial ask perfectly. They can also offer half-assed attempts and insist they did what was asked.
- They can shape your behaviours. Before you know it, you'll be heating up their breakfast in the microwave.
. They will question your judgement and may offer alternate opinions/solutions.
- They will generalise less, so proofing a behaviour for context is a challenge. Perfect manners with you and strangers doesn't mean they won't be a jumpy, needy pest with your family.
Another thing is: mental exercise is more important than physical exercise. Neither should be ignored, but on a foul weather day, a short walk and some training and nosework is way better than a long walk and no work. Puzzle toys are useless with Poodles. Learn to stuff a Kong in a challenging way. Do treat hiding. There is nothing worse than a Poodle who's in great condition but bored out of his mind... except maybe a Labdaroodle in great condition who's bored And hungry...
Hello. I just got a 6 month mini poodle. First time pet owner and never really been around pups too long. I have seasonal asthma but thought that because they don’t shed I was going to be ok… it’s been a week and I’ve been using my inhaler daily (normally just activates during summer with humidity never with cold weather which we have now). It’s breaking my heart to think it’s because of the pup. Aside of my asthma I am also breaking out a bit on my hands chest and neck. Anyone have a similar experience?
No breed or type of animal is going to be exactly like the next. I had 2 poodles for almost 20 years and one was super smart, relaxed, and protective. The other one was kind of a hyper, mouthy dumbass.
They were so different but equally loved and missed.
Doesnt matter what look you want for your poodle you take them to a grooming salon every 6-8 weeks with regular brushing and showering inbetween. Poodles are very high maintenance dogs.

@MsTarentum I agree! Mini-poodle teeth seem especially difficult. I read about it, but didn't really know how important it is to them e v e r y night. Our mini had as many teeth removed by age 3, as our other little boy (not a poodle) did at age 10 - 11. Our mini doesn't love chewies (first dog ever) which makes it harder. to keep tartar off. God I love him tho. 💕💕
To me they are the perfect dog Standards are a bit different but they are all very smart , sweet , and kind . I will never enjoy and respect another hypoallergenic or otherwise breed . I’ve found my life long sweet friend .

I've owned dogs my entire life, owned Beagles for 30 years, bred for 18 years, competed in AKC conformation for 5 years... thought I was ready for a mini poodle. Lord, no I wasn't. This pup is gorgeous but a complete nightmare. Excessively mouthy, trainability on par with my Beagles (honestly, my field bred hounds showed better tractability in some areas), housebreaking progress meh, at home grooming is worse than ALL THE SHEDDING, the bark is high pitched to the point of intolerability. The mouthiness is apparently a retrieving dog trait (?) and is at such a level you cannot touch this pup without being bitten.
Life with this animal is legit nothing more than attempting to control barking and biting. I'm far from a canine training newbie, but have never had so many issued rolled up in a 12 week old ball of fur :/ In fact, all the nightmare scenarios I've heard about Beagles are not what I experienced with that breed, but with this yappy little poodle. The moral of this story is that some breeds legitimately are not for some people, so do all the digging you can to find both positives and negatives.
Also, while my pup is AKC registered, there is also some question as to whether there was mixed breeding somewhere in his heritage, which would definitely cause behavioral issues not common to poodles. Especially with this breed, due to the popularity of "poo" mixes, it really is buyer beware. You can't be too careful or research too thoroughly.

The biting is a training issue and has to be stopped very young, at the puppy stage. Then again, minis are a lot less tractable than a standard, as stated. Our toys we had when I was growing up were yappy and nippy, reminiscent of a chihuahua. We were able to train it out simply by a loud OW! or NO! to startle. If you are used to a beagle, their bark/noise is very different. They talk back...a lot. It's a trait I both love and hate at the same time. Our current standard is very lovey and only gets upset when a loud noise happens. He has never bitten in an aggressive way...only in play and has a very gentle, soft mouth.

I disagree that poodles don't recall. My mini will hide a treat and come back in a few hours to retrieve it. She will leave a kibble on her bed and run off to play. When she came back her brother had eaten. She kept looking for that kibble for 30 minutes. She went over to her brother and sniffed him. Then she started attacking him, nipping him. My poodle at her heaviest is 14 lbs, her brother is a Labrador coming in at 100lbs.
Spend lots on grooming? I used to....but I have three Standards and my wife had several strokes and is in a care facility....so, no money for grooming.....not a problem, as I already had two sets of pro clippers and shears....so have been able to maintain the basic puppy clip style without much hassle really.....
Many of the items under issue #2 (food, shots, etc) are common to ALL breeds, not just poodles.

My male standard at 2 1/2 years is 63 pounds. I was hoping for55 max. I’ve had several large breeds and I always thought I had some pretty smart dogs. They weren’t smart compared to this poodle. The bond this dog has with my wife is a huge bonus. 🐩

This video is a joke. My standard poodle is a fabulous dog. The fact that I know how to train might have something to do with it. He’s fine at home alone, has never damaged a single item in our house, and is very quiet. I’ve learned to groom my poodle and in fact it’s become an enjoyable hobby. When I bathe my poodle or brush my poodle he doesn’t lose a single hair. My wife has zero issues with allergies. Not the case withother breeds we’ve had. This ridiculous video is full of disinformation in my opinion.
