This game blew me away when it first came out. It's easy to take sandbox spider-man games for granted these days but to experience a sandbox spider-man game where you can web swing around New-York in 2003 was unimaginable.

11:31 Getting kids balloons back is the most annoying side mission to the point they made fun of it in the Ultimate Spider-Man game by having Venom eat a kid.
I loved ultimate Spider-Man too bad they cancelled the planned sequel
Technically the kid survived.
Plus, how dare that kid cry. Venom was just showing him something cool.

I think it's also refeneced twice in Marvel's Spider-Man.
One in a drawing from the backpacks you collect.
And another in one of the those Twitter-esq feed messages where some lady mentions that her child's balloon was floating away and Spider-Man did nothing.

@@sunday1409 spider man 1 was like a homage to Neversoft spider man on ps1 including how he web swing when the web isn't attaching to anything it had the same issues that ps1 spider man and later in tasm 1 & 2 games and u couldn't be on the ground as well just like ps1 spider man.
but in this game it was the first open world spider man that has interactive citizens when exploring through the streets, and u can actually be on the ground, web swing that actually attached to the buildings, u can tie up enemies to the traffic lights there was soo many side missions and things that u can do this shit was ahead of it's time and it's nothing like spider man 1 which that game pretty much spider man ps1 with a movie tie in plot.
just the web swinging alone in this game feels so good that you could spend hours trying to make the coolest web swinging sequence.
Yup and it uses an actual physics system unlike the insomniac game which gives off the illusion of momentum

I really loved this game. This was one of the best superhero games. For its time, i was really impressed by the ragdoll physics, the graphics for its time, the swinging, the day and night cycle, the map and my god , there were so many godamn interiors.
For an open world game for a movie from the early 2000s, the map did feel Big and impressive
It's such a shame Spiderman 3 the Game couldn't deliver.
I loved playing this game on the GameCube back in the day.
I had it on PC first, it was a completely different game and one of the worst games I’ve ever played, it was one of the main reasons that I switched to consoles (a GameCube too)

The map was so detailed in this game, that when I first visited NYC at 10, my mom said I knew my way around the city just by looking at the buildings. I would admire all the skyscrapers and get so excited when I had an idea of which part of the city we were in 😂 I remember we were about to start heading back to our family’s house in New Jersey, but I wanted to find a certain unique building I saw in the game before we left. I remember we went walking around for like 30 minutes cuz I could “feel” that we were getting close. At some point, we actually found the building and I just remember feeling like a million bucks! Not only did it look cooler in person, but it made me feel like I was in the game! A dream come true for 10-year old me who played this game all the time as a kid 😁
The swinging in Spider-man 1 is actually so cursed

This title was amazing, perhaps the greatest movie game I've ever played. That phenomenon surrounding games looking nowhere near as real as you remember back in the day, is caused by modern monitors stretching out graphics which were designed to be played on a blocky TV. One quick remaster job, and you'll all find this game holds up incredibly well.
Perfect video to come back with, a game based on one of my favorite movies. Glad to see your content again, your videos never fail to brighten my day!

The two biggest things I didn’t like about Spider-Man 2 was the lack of alternate costumes and mission replayability. Other than those, it was a pretty nice game.

Been binging this channel for the past week or so and I’m excited to see them cover one of my favorite childhood games. I think it might be worth looking at Revenge of the Sith on PS2 if you want another great movie adaptation. Plus the multiplayer is a fun experience

As a kid born in 1994 playing this game was monumental to my childhood. I actually have to disagree with this one. I got it for my birthday when it was new to the ps2. I’ll never forget playing this for hours during summer vacation and eating spicy cheezits, getting heart burn 😂 man I miss the early 2000’s

I had this on GameCube and I loved it. The fact that you had to webswing using buildings and not just the air was great. Ultimate Spiderman was fantastic too.

Alot of the graphical errors you saw where issues with upscaling and emulation mostly. Still looks rough on the PS2 native but the flat cars and weird dude on the roof etc arent present

I never played this game but back in my day, I used to go to a daycare center (because my parents had to go to work all the time) and there was a PS2 console for the schoolchildren. When it worked years ago, we had games like Spiderman 2, Rachet and Clank, Lego Batman, and many others. We even had an accessory called the EyeToy and the EyeToy Play game. We all played this game due to it's easy motion controls. This game was ahead of it's time way before Wii Sports and Wii Fit. But I remember all the cool kids playing Spiderman 2 though and the annoying balloon task where you could grab a balloon for a crying child.
