Just a heads up - wIth EV's of any sort, the range will be greatly affected by load - much more so than for petrol vehicles. Manufacturers tend to state "maximum range" based on the unloaded weight. So, don't be too surprised if the range is less than expected, if you are routinely carrying a full load of people or animal feed. Overall battery lifetime, too, will be affected by load. Also, please be careful about quick turns at high speeds, esp. over rough terrain, as well as over bumpy, muddy & wet roads. The three-wheel design, with one forward wheel, is inherently more unstable than a four-wheel design. It is much easier to tip & flip a three-wheeler. You should be able to upgrade the tires, from a 3rd party source. Check around, with folks who sell tires for ATVs. There are tires which are better suited for off-road use and less likely to go flat. Generally, though, these tires are typically heavier and will reduce the speed & range of the vehicle. Drive safely!
Yes, range is critical. What happens if it runs out with the kids on board? You can't get a bottle of charge for it like you can gas. They are not viable where I live in Canada due to long distances and cold weather. It's always warm there so that's a plus. I suspect your distances are short as well so you'll probably be ok. Safety is important. Battery fires are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, near impossible to put out without special equipment and can burn down the house or anything close by so park it well away.

thanks for sharing, i am looking forward to your 6 month review of this little trooper after the excitement has calmed down and all it practical pros and cons are more relative to your needs, noticed a small drop down seat in the back behind the drivers seat and maybe a couple of cushions for comfort ha ha, merry christmas
It's red. That's why it's fast. This is a perfect little runabout for the village. That looks pretty sturdy. Tradesmen and delivery chaps use them alot and they don't fall apart routinely. That payload capacity seems very optimistic considering a Ranger has a payload capacity of 750kg. The new sports car might be able to carry and haul 1000kg but it may not stop. Step by step. Enjoy your new sports car guys! Happy Holidays.
I wouldn't worry too much about whether an ev vehicle can handle rough terrain. I've been watching numerous ev vehicle tests of AWD cars and they can handle it all. The kw/hp they get leaves petrol cars in the dust
Someone had a big smile on her face 😍😍 Great present for the wife!!! I wonder if anyone makes an aftermarket stabilizer for the front. Kinda like training wheels on a bike. I bet there is an industrious Thai that could fashion some. PS...I'm envious as hell that you're going to see Buakow...enjoy!! I expect VIDEO! 🙏🙏🙏
We've had one sitting in the shed for over a year waiting for a replacement battery. It took lots of urging on my part to ask the supplier for some type of warranty. However when it was running it did the job of school run and neighborhood run arounds. We use ICE bikes and ute for longer runs or heavy loads
Like to see Damo’s mum ride it. Maybe make a video trip of her dad to the farm. I bet, he thinks about the farm a lot. That would make his day Ryan!👌🏾🫶🏻👍🏾🙏🏾🥰❤🇬🇧
Smiles all round 😁 looks like a handy piece of kit for the kids and for the farm, best of luck with Damo letting you use it, I think she might say you can use the mazda 😂. As ever wishing all the best and have a great Christmas. 🎄❤️🤗🏴🙏
Speedo is in km/h Ryan. You're not in the UK. Edit: Oops, sorry, missed seeing your on-screen printed correction on my 1st view. FYI here's what I'd be worried about - any potential rollover hazard. If it were not brand new you could test it by doing a sudden u-turn on your farm, with no kids aboard of course. Anyway a lovely gift for your wife despite it arriving before Christmas Day. Her beaming smile says it all.
My friends wife has a similar one to take her produce to the market. She's got used to it now, but as a 3 wheeler can be unstable on uneven ground. Her daughter ended up in a ditch first time driving it.
Also mate, just give those rear drop down gate latches a quick strength test. I noticed one of the kids leaning against it - don't want him to fly out when you accelerate away.
Given its brand new you should get something back for the front damage or as someone said earlier claim on warranty. Lucky you have it on video that the damage was pre-existing when it came off the delivery truck.
That’s cool. My neighbor has one, they have a farm nearby, and they thrash the shit out of it. They’ve had it for years and hasn’t let them down. They also put a super thin solar panel on top attached to a separate battery that they can use in emergencies . Enjoy
Just had a family member attempted scam. Refused to comply. Now they're using threats. Good job they don't know where she is. Be safe out there, phone scams are scary, especially when threats are issued. Telling you this cos you are in my vicinity.
@thenakedguru complex story, but a phone scam. They rung her up, said they were representative of a a well known phone company (Thai), put her through to supposed boys in blue in mukdahan, who then demanded she paid an unspecified amount into her bank. They had all her details id card, bank accounts but no numbers, driving licences, etc. But didn't know where she was living or who she is living with. She wanted me to pay, I said no because we have a rich ferang surname. Very rare as well.
Outcome she got cleaned out, obviously it's now in the hands of the rozzers and the banks. Tears are still shedding but no physical harm came to my daughter. What a lesson in life to have to learn as a 19 year old.
ive heard of this scam before actually, damo mentioned something similar, she muct be called 5 times a day by these scammers, she doesnt even answer now - sorry about your family member btw
Wow, Damal looks power spicy when she's all excited and smiling with her new wheels, very cool present. Not sure I'd trust it for not tipping over on the uneven ground though.
Interesting. Please report if you notice any significant change to your electric bill. Throw some cushions in the back for the kids to sit on as that checkerboard plate can be uncomfortable. Although it seems 17:50 there is a fold down bench seat in the rear?
Nice early Christmas present for Damo. Just drive safe as 3 wheels tip a bit easy if you corner too fast. Seems a bit lacking in suspension on those rougher roads. Lets see how it goes over time as you said. Maybe get some seats in the back for the kids. Enjoy the fights ...
Ryan, simply weld a piece of steel on the kick starter on the older scooter, easy to work out so the piece of steel welded will swivel, use threaded rod.
It's a fun vehicle. I bought one for my mother-in-law who doesn't have a driver's license. You can add some simple padded folding bench seats in the back for the kids. There is no way it will haul 1000 kg more than 200 metes. With care and proper charging (watch a few YT videos), the batteries might last a year or so. I'd look at different ATV tires when it comes time to change them. Fixing the old scooter would be easy and cheap. I own a 14-year-old Honda Dream. It was completely submersed in water and mud during the recent floods. A local shop cleaned it up and it looks and runs like a new one!
18:30 same here, and I also don't want to be pessimistic or rain on your parade, but the one benefit of motorcycles/saleng in Thailand is that you can get them repaired everywhere, and local mechanics are familiar with bikes.
The big advantage is the EV is made in Thailand and has Thailand service available. The price is comparable to the Chinese junk I bought so looks like a reasonable purchase. The batteries seem to be 5 car 12 volt in series for 60 volts so they can be changed individually as they give out. Hope it lasts without much service.
Hey Ryan and Damo and Otis and Hugo, great video. I would caution you that if it doesn't have a charge controller on it, don't charge it too long until you do put one on it. If you don't you will have to replace the batteries because they will melt. I learned the hard way and mine were so bad it wouldn't even start. Mine is just a scooter but I could get up to 45 kph. It was really scary. If I keep it I will put wider tires on it, it's just too ruff of a ride and I think it would make it more stable. ❤❤❤❤😂❤❤❤❤
Hey Ryan awesome job. But just 1 question does it have to be registered to take it on the roads. As Im planing on moving over there and that would be great to have as a little run around. all the best to youcand family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. 🎉❤😂😊 Cheers Sue
That looks very cool. Just be careful turning at speed. That two in the back, one in the front configuration is less stable in a turn than two in the front one in the back. But it does look fun.
My wife uses a smaller version of your EV. I don't let her go off-road, as the single front wheel can easily capsize the whole thing if it goes into a pothole or big dip in the road. On tarmac, it should be fine. Good Luck :)
I've been thinking of getting one of those ! I am so pleased that you have offereď to be the 'Guinea Pigs' - I will be very interested to see how it turns out - battery life and how it performs over time are my big concerns, anyway have fun & good luck with it.
For the flats, have you considered a product such as FlatOut? They work really well. Of course, old tires still need to be replaced, but if the flats are just due to running over sharp objects, you may be able to fix that issue.
That's a very nice gift. It will hold up much longer if it isn't driven like you were driving it on the rough road. While it can negotiate the bumps, doing so at high speed will destroy it in short order. It's not built like an off road atv or truck and shouldn't be expected to perform as such. It should do well if it's babied on the rough bits.
Hay Damo what a fantastic Xmas present happy driving it’s an absolute amazing little car think yai would love one as well ‘ and the kids seem so happy with it I love it as well wish we could use them here thank you Ryan for sharing this happy video’
Just rebuilt the engine on our honda wave 100 based saleng. Reason is it needed a new kickstart so i changed the crankshaft and all internal bearing. Basically I don't buy into the ev thing; batteries are the arcillies heal! Especially in Thailand where you are lucky if you get 4 years out of a car battery; heat kills them. So the saleng now has extended life. Can't beat Honda.
If it’s a lead asset battery like on a golf cart make sure to get a dropper to keep the battery full of distilled water. I can’t remember what you called a thing it checks the asset to order ratio. If the batteries get dry on the sale it will kill it early.
i made this vlog orginally with the title "just got wrecked in crypto.. ford ranger cancelled but this is our new ride!" (the tuk tuk) however i changed it because i think many wouldnt know what im on about.
I want one ❤! 😂😊 It looks like so much fun. You on the other hand are a speed demon 😈. I asked about the Salange at a perfect time for sure. Fun video thank you for sharing.
Crikey, ripper mate. Looking good for everyone. Cheap too. Load it up and let's go away for the weekend, camping and fishing. Solar panels on the roof will easily keep it charged up. To help with flat tyres, you can put in the can of ssshhh, don't know what they call it there. Pumps up tyres that are punctured. Originally made to help anyone to get out of trouble on the moment, but in Australia we always put it in our bikes, especially going bush. Well done. Looks excellent. 👍❤️😇
Great present to bad they ruined the surprise but she will enjoy it really is really nice love it it will be so handy to even move things around the property! Fun!! Happy holiday! To all!
Are the front wheel covers plastic or metal? If they are plastic, it may not matter if they have a few slight scratches, given local road conditions. I can't really imagine claiming this on warranty in Thailand.
That's more like it Ryan...that's Thailand's great fun & practicality EV a more sensible solution for you all. Much better than that pie in the sky Ford Truck dream funded by Solana & friends LoL
@hobo1704 100 watt don't weigh that much - 5 kg ? And power is not ""cheap "" free every house has a power meter 🤔 If you have Air con your power bill can get high ,i wonder about that trike ?$? To charge .
Damo looks very, very excited. Well done. I purchased a very similar three-wheelers ev for my wife 5 years ago. Not quite as fast as the Lion (40 kmh). The batteries lasted for five years before the ev got very slow. The new batteries cost THB 1800, so not so expensive. I also purchased a smaller Lion trike for myself (I am seldom allowed to use it because my wife likes it so much) it can do 50kmh on the same batteries.
great stuff dont ever let the charge go to zero top it up before it gets too low because you will damage the battery. I want one but with a big heater for the uk haha
Depends on what type of batteries it has. Standard automotive , Deep discharge , Lithium ... Automotive will develop a " memory " so if you charge it too soon ( before it gets to around 25 % charged ) the first few times , it will only give you limited range from that point on ( but I agree with you that they should not be allowed to become completely discharged, but if you do , don't let it sit discharged. Put it on the charger and don't take it off until it is again FULLY charged . ) Deep discharge batteries are more expensive and are often used in wheelchairs . They are designed to go to complete discharge without damage . Lithium... , not worth mentioning because at only around 2000 dollars this machine would not come equipped with lithium anyways. Hopefully the owners manual will cover the proper procedure . Best to follow that to the T .
@@ethics3Sorry, but that's badly incorrect. Automotive batteries (lead acid) never have a memory effect - it's not possible. That can happen with some nickel cadmium or ni-mh batteries, but not lead acid batteries.

@@John-G At the age of 16 , I apprenticed at a major Canadian auto parts / repair store and on average had around 10 batteries a day under my care , making sure they received the initial proper primary charge in them before installing them into the customers cars . No, not in Thailand, and no driver's license needed either. Which defies the object of getting a driver's license at all, since you can go and drive with the "big cars" on the same road. 😂
@@bensteyn1974 I am not sure that is true. I read somewhere that if it doesn't have petal assist in some form it needs to be licensed. Having just watched the driver license video, I know you need to have a drivers license to drive a farm tractor on public roads. But this is Thailand, and in my area the police seem to look the other way as long as you are just driving around town.
@@jjensen4029 yes, you might be right, I'm not sure either, I just drive mine around here to the shops, etc. My South African driver's license expired years ago, never had a Thai license. According to the Thai people here who helped me buy my EV, no license needed, as long as the motor is below 1000w.
Well the surprise was ruined but overall it worked out, dont forget to watch the end of the vlog for the fun stuff!

I would question the stability of a 3 wheeled vehicles, especially on corners and turning. Too fast when turning and weight disbursement !!!
The batteries are available for about 1 - 2 year(s). Avoid overcharged battery. 80% scale is siuted for charging.

Nice early Christmas present for Damo. Just drive safe as 3 wheels tip a bit easy if you corner too fast.

Ryan, simply weld a piece of steel on the kick starter on the older scooter, easy to work out so the piece of steel welded will swivel, use threaded rod.

Yea very surprised with it!
I think it had a back seat that goes down to the load compartment side.

Hi Ryan, please be careful about the 3 wheeler. They are very easy to roll if you do sharp turns at speed.

Looks great buddy…loved the tune when you drove it… proper hick music.

Is that a fold down rear seat behind the driver's seat ?.
Looks great 👍🏼
So beautiful gift for your beautiful wife kids they love it 🥰
Just rebuilt the engine on our honda wave 100 based saleng.
Price is good. Can't buy a new motorbike for that. Also these 3 wheelers are all over the place in China.
Nice wheels!!!!!
Cool little runaround……pimp that Bad Boy out in the back for the kids comfort. I’m sure you are Mr Popular with Damo right now.
If it’s a lead asset battery like on a golf cart make sure to get a dropper to keep the battery full of distilled water. I can’t remember what you called a thing it checks the asset to order ratio. If the batteries get dry on the sale it will kill it early.
Congratulations on your new vehicle
Sound emitter , so pedestrians can hear it
Haha the sol play ain't looking too hot after today, enjoy the new truck 🤣
i made this vlog orginally with the title "just got wrecked in crypto.. ford ranger cancelled but this is our new ride!" (the tuk tuk)
however i changed it because i think many wouldnt know what im on about.
@thenakedguru haha love it, I'm looking at sui/msend/rootlets for the next 3 months, wagmi brother keep clicking!
Purchased EV disability trike in Isan (for mother in law) All good except from battery that only lasted 2 years. Easy to replace but expensive!
Driving test is so easy and cheap to do!
Great present to bad they ruined the surprise but she will enjoy it really is really nice love it it will be so handy to even move things around the property! Fun!! Happy holiday! To all!
Looks like it needs better suspension, good luck .
You need to use the warranty for painting the front wheel cover scratches. I would stick solar panels on top direct recharging to the battery.
Are the front wheel covers plastic or metal? If they are plastic, it may not matter if they have a few slight scratches, given local road conditions. I can't really imagine claiming this on warranty in Thailand.
@ l doubt it's plastic. If it's metal they will rust...
@@mariadange06 Just use a little red rustoleum spray paint.
@ Sure but one needs the same colour.
@mariadange06 You won't notice that much under the inevitable dust layer from Thai rural roads. ;-)
That's more like it Ryan...that's Thailand's great fun & practicality EV a more sensible solution for you all. Much better than that pie in the sky Ford Truck dream funded by Solana & friends LoL
Get some solar panels on the roof 👍🏻
Don't. It won't give you any advantage.
@@walsakaluk1584 Maybe not, but it would make a cool sun roof.
I thought the same ! Unlimited power
Would lose power from the extra weight..
@hobo1704 100 watt don't weigh that much - 5 kg ? And power is not ""cheap "" free every house has a power meter 🤔 If you have Air con your power bill can get high ,i wonder about that trike ?$? To charge .
The old scooter/motorbike looks like something that some Transformer chewed on and after that spitted out,but the new one 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤ lovely.
Enjoy.
The old saleng ?? scooter/motorbike looks like something that some Transformer chewed on and after that spitted out,but the new one 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤ lovely.
Lots of room on the roof for solar panels for free running.
70 clicks from charge to charge? Best of luck with that! The kids are certainly pleased! Good fun!
Ryan, treat Damo’s dad a Christmas trip to see the farm.👌🏾👍🏾🙏🏾🫶🏻🇬🇧
PS: would he be seated outside watching the Christmas festivities?🫶🏻🤔🇬🇧
Damo looks very, very excited. Well done. I purchased a very similar three-wheelers ev for my wife 5 years ago. Not quite as fast as the Lion (40 kmh). The batteries lasted for five years before the ev got very slow. The new batteries cost THB 1800, so not so expensive. I also purchased a smaller Lion trike for myself (I am seldom allowed to use it because my wife likes it so much) it can do 50kmh on the same batteries.
Perhaps an upgrade to shock absorbers.🤔🇬🇧
And 4 wheels. weight on the wrong side and it will turn over on a corner.
great stuff dont ever let the charge go to zero top it up before it gets too low because you will damage the battery.
@@John-G I will not attempt to make an argument from authority because it would only serve to show my years of experience in this field , that being demonstrated by my first comment , where as all you could add was " No , you are wrong " . Take 3 minutes and make google your friend before showing the world what a fool you are
@@John-G At the age of 16 , I apprenticed at a major Canadian auto parts / repair store and on average had around 10 batteries a day under my care , making sure they received the initial proper primary charge in them before installing them into the customers cars . As well , in my last year before I retired , I worked with a company that refurbished Tesla multi cell Lithium batteries so I think I know what I am talking about... You on the other hand seem to simply talk out of your ass. No matter. I am deleting my mechanical advice comments as uneducated comments such as yours appear to carry more weight so I will leave this channel to wallow in its own ignorance. Merry Christmas
Put some cushions in the back to sit on,
You’re scared of the dogs, they’re running away after you started 😂
Yes solar panels 👍🏽👍🏽
This is your best vlog.
Hi
Nice wheels
But does it need a liscence plate?
Happy Wife Happy Life. Three-wheelers are very easy to tip on turns. FYII
