I really really like Drytron from a card design perspective. They look really cool and have really cool effects, also the ritual spell is dope! But I find it sad that 90% of the time you can only play Drytron as this degenerate deck, either with Ultimateness or with the current turn skip variant. I wish there were more viable variants that could be played. Drytron Megalith was really cool for a while, but it just doesn't do as much but is still one of the more interactive variants (with exactly one interaction lol).
the issue with drytron is that fundamentally it is a 2 card deck, it cant really play without 2 live names in hand. the board it creates is very powerful, but due to that fact its fair in that way when you compare it to other decks (like branded) that set up a much less degenerate board, yes, but do it with 1 card.
Drytron is far from dead, hell it topped a nationals this month. If Arise-heart specifically were not in the format it would would straight up be a meta deck right now
While this video is well made. An issue is that it does not really consider how a deck may evolve and adopt over time to deal with its weaknesses. As well as what other people are playing.

Drytron is essentially at full power, what the tcg got at least since benten was limited at the time diviner came out. Except the orange light limit which admittedly hurts. But what master duel got when it released was just degenerate.
Eva makes it too cracked, as a person that climbed master duel through drytron abuse. Would personally like to see altergeists, I saw them a bit during the gouki meta but only got into them way after.
Sorry to burst your bubble but this deck is FAR from dead. As someone going into his 3rd year of playing this deck non stop I’d say it’s significantly weaker compared to its release time BUT it can still play through multiple HT‘s and sometimes including droll
Drytron is better than majority of decks in the meta lol. It’s just the only usable 2card combo deck in the game and all the lazy one card combo players don’t have the Brain power to comprehend how to use a deck that can do everything 20 different ways. Drytron has the most utility than any other deck in the game, and has full access to every monster in the main or extra at all times. Ever since I started actually playing drytron a bout a year ago I’ve realized literally nobody genuinely understands this deck lol.
Drytron is one of my favorite archetypes of all time...the problem is that the decks that it enabled were absolutely miserable to play against. I think the concept and aesthetic are so interesting, the design is really unique and efficient, and now, minus EVA and Orange Light, I think that there is a lot of really interesting deckbuilding space that's being ignored in favor of weird turn skips.

i think another really good one for this would be sky striker, even with the support it got and will get the deck is just dead now and not even engage to 3 can bring it back sadly
I agree that the deck is pretty dead. The new support might breathe some life into it, but tier 3 might be a healthy place for it. As an engine, it's pretty decent, though. Splash drones and engage and anchor in any deck that wants to use them and you have a free token, a pot of greed, and a creature negate, so long as you don't *need* your main monster zones immediately.
I gotta say that one of the guy from my locals still play the deck and that kurikara is looking kinda smexy, unless they're playing that combo with magician of black chaos max
Before bystial release it, it one of the powerful deck with a lot of negate. Now regardless in MD, OCG and TCG, this card easily can be negated by bystial. However in OCG and MD have hope at least their limited to 1 copy some bystial card unlike TCG that bystial in full power.

It is great, but there are too many ways to abuse the deck. It can make any Rank 1 monster, it can link spam, obviously rituals, locking into lights by searching a barrier statue off benten... it can be oppressive.
Doesn't have space for handtraps or board breakers, is a two or three card combo when a lot of other decks only need one card to do their thing. If it goes first and goes uninterrupted it wins 90% of the time, but thats not realistic in a competitive environment. Also is very boring, negating everything the opponent does or skipping the turn is just not interactive at all.
It absolutely has space for handtraps lol. The reason people don’t play handtraps in drytron is because you can search handtraps whenever you want in your combos. Orange light, purple light, green light, Lancea. You can literally search a handtrap for any type of 1st turn interruption you may come across . So people also play board breakers cause why not? Board breakers and searchable handtraps for monsters, spells, and traps? Why tf would you play handtraps that do very specific things when you can just search handtraps that directly negate and destroy any spell, trap, or monsters AND NEGATE YOUR OPPONENTS HANDTRAPS 😂😂😂😂do your research.

Drytron's not dead. It just needs to shed the Herald nonsense via locking Fairies out (Nu2 is a step in the right direction), give us a few more Meteonis monsters with strong effects, and it'll be far better off. The problem with it is its lack of identity thanks to Herald painting it and holding it back. It needs to stand on its own completely, with its own identity.
