@@jasonshawver7227 : I am not a Chevy lover by any means so this has nothing to do with being jealous of someone who supposedly has a 69 Yenko Camaro but blaming the shift linkage saying it’s not dialed in has nothing to do with the FACT that he can’t drive a stick...at all. Him buying a different transmission is not going to solve his utter lack of coordination between gas pedal, clutch pedal and moving a shifter. There was not a single smooth shift during that entire ride, he drives like Herman Munster with those big ol’ clodhoper boots. If you can afford to live in that neighborhood then park the Camaro and buy some beater car with a manual transmission and learn how to shift, get help from someone who can drive one and stop torturing that car or just simply put an automatic transmission in it. So many act like they just jumped in a manual first time and got it right. Guess you all forgot how you stalled, jerked, and shifted too soon or was not sure what gear you was in. I hate when people comment on how he cant shift, majority of them probably have never driven a manual....OR 450 horsepower (or so) car with a four speed, it isnt the easiest thing to do
Nicholas Elias I came up in the 70s so I had my share of sporty vehicles with manual transmissions (4 speed was common) and very beefy motors. Shifting isn't that hard. It's more of a technique. If you listen to him drive he's not smooth in the transition of gears. Sounds like he may be pushing the clutch in too far. There's no need to to push the clutch to the floor...You just need it far enough to make the shift. When you do it like that there is less time for the pressure plate to reingauge the flywheel making the gear change quicker and smoother. Plus you need to "Jam" the shifter instead of babying it. What I commented about the shifting was only advice. It wasn't meant to be taken as criticism.
Nicholas Elias - Agreed. You want to make sure the front tires are straight when you punched it in between each shift of the gears or you will be all over the place!!!
I bought a ticket on a raffle to win a Yenko Camaro. The draw was on my birthday....how could I miss? So thank-you for the video....looks like this is the closest I'll get!
this guy's got to be kidding he's got to be a young kid just got his driver's license got a piece of classic history Automotive and you missed 3rd gear better put this kid back in a Volkswagen with an automatic you don't deserve to be in this car
Anyone remember the 454 Phase III Camero? It was offered in 3 stages from mild to wild. As I recall, the mild version was 525 hp, ran the quarter in 11.0 sec @ 120 mph. It got 5-9 miles to the gal and cost $6000, from Baldwin Motion Products, a Chevy dealership on Long Island, NY.
I don’t know what version this car is but I would be surprised if it made it into the 13’s. He was shifting at maybe 5000 rpms max and then combine the painfully bad shifting that he thinks using the clutch is not necessary has turned what I thought was going to be a trip down memory lane into anything but. That car couldn’t smoke the tires through four gears under any circumstances. My not stock 340 4 speed Duster with 3.91 gears would tear that Camaro a new one. This motor was out of breath between 5000-5500 rpm and ran like a rebuild where the owner got to pick all the engine parts from JC Whitney and then Summit and believed all the manufacturer claims for each part even when they clearly were going to be working against each other. It reminded me of a guy that had a beautiful original 1970 454 Chevelle that he put this big 671 blower on then added this high lift mean sounding cam into as well as some L50-15 tires on Crager S/S rims that were popular for that time period . He drove around like he had the baddest car on the planet with a big block 454 and a big chrome blower sticking up out of the hood. Then one Saturday he shows up with his car on a trailer at New England Dragway to show everybody how fast his car was. 14.3 was his first and only run before he loaded it back up and left the track, it was NEVER seen with the blower on it again. He had plenty of $$ to build something but didn’t consult anyone with the knowledge to do it right. Judging from the size of the houses in this guy’s neighborhood, he needs to take that car to some place that builds good street strip motors and do this car some justice. In the meantime he can learn about how to drive a stick that includes using the clutch to change gears, those type of use no clutch to shift transmissions are for drag racing on the strip as they will not last on the street but a very short time. Then repost a new video of what the car can do with someone who can drive a stick and not be scared to use it. Also try a GOPRO instead of the VHS recorder that you used this time.

Don’t listen to the haters. You have this car, they don’t. Idiots piss me off so much, a Chevy fan should still enjoys these vids
That was painful to experience.
You need more traction!
@@frankjohnson6342 Lmfao the Herman Munster was the best thing I've ever heard 🤣 😂 💀
@@frankjohnson6342. Your jealously of this kid and his car is painful to read😂
I was laughing right along with you! American muscle baby!!!
So many act like they just jumped in a manual first time and got it right. Guess you all forgot how you stalled, jerked, and shifted too soon or was not sure what gear you was in. Very few just do this right the first time or even the fifth time. Cheap shots are easy when no one can see your mistakes. Sounds like a bunch of high school level jealousy. Get your own Yenko and make a video, let’s see how you do under pressure. Do you or your “Daddy” have what it takes to even get your ass in the seat?
I owned a Road Runner with a 440+6, 4.10 gears & 4-speed in '71. It was a '70 model, hardtop, In Violet color. It had the hemi drivetrain. Not sure of the clutch but it was 1 of the stiffest I had ever had the pleasure of operating. My girl, at the time, couldn't drive it, lol! I told her to put 1 foot on the gas & the other 2 on the clutch. No sense of humor!
Any updates on the car? Keep up the work on improving shifting and you'll be one with the car one day. Might already be after a decade
Oh my god you are very lucky to have this BEAST, it's my dream car god i want a YENKO Camaro. Just need a few pointers when you shift your car FAST i would be more then glad to show you some helpful hints on your shifting game. Hit me up buddy. And BEAUTIFUL YENKO, I'm super jealous
Either that clutch is stiff as hell or he needs to hit the gym
It's his tight girl pants
Thx for a ride of a life time which I could never afford. You lucky dawg.
Nicholas Elias I agree.
***** sounds like youre one hell of a gear jammer........
like what i did there? LMAO
Nicholas Elias - Agreed. You want to make sure the front tires are straight when you punched it in between each shift of the gears or you will be all over the place!!!
+John Parker agree
@@frankjohnson6342he didn’t do that bad…..and you talk too much. Know it alls always talk too much.
I couldn't get past the first two shifts... holy fucking hell.
sounds like somebody has never driven a Muncie. This isn't your Civic, you cant bangshift it.
there is nothing holy about your f words and should never be used with holy or anything else for that matter , grow up and stop talking like an ignorant rebel from the south
Yes, we have automobiles in my town too. We often use them to run errands, or get to work.
Small world.
It sounds good, 1st gen camaro always be one of my favorite cars. Don’t think this one is super fast, just decent exhaust, moderate cam? But sounds good man. Enjoy it for what it is and be safe.
All rear gears
Sounds like it needs a gear change in the rear end. Nice sounding motor love the big cam
Hammering down missing gears smoking the clutch 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂 glad that's not my car
Really nice car, sounds awesome. Cinco Ranch area would be a little frustrating to drive in. Head out past Simonton for a little more open road.
Hopefully in the 10 years since you’ve posted this video you’ve finally learned how to drive the damn thing.
Steel beasts of the past that can never be beat for Looks and Feel. Newer stuff might be faster but in these old Monsters you felt every one of them Horses.
*tons of noise
meanwhile : nothing happening
Tires dont hook up
She sounds like a camaro all right. Beautiful car my man.
I hope by 2020 you learned how to shift gears and haven't totaled it.
Ugh it's painful to watch when someone does a rip and pushes in the clutch as they slow down .....ain't got shit for control at that point.
Besides , 80-90% of engine wear happens at a cold start , so just leave the clutch out omg it's so cringy.
Sounds good just take your time and pay attention to you surroundings. You don't have nothing to prove. It's a classic muscle car and name speaks for it self. That's coming from a 69 SS Camaro owner . Enjoy your car and stay safe. ✔
Is this somewhere in Houston? I feel like I've seen the places you're driving around and your car before.
Its feel like Houston
Yeah I’m thinking that too
Its in cinco ranch, I drove those roads every day going to auto tech in old katy
That's because anyone in Houston with any horsepower drives like this.
High School ... 1975 ... 5 people in a 1976 Camaro 351 LT built ... 488 Rears ... slight rolling start ... One block ... 3 foot high, 3rd Gear Wheelie.
🤪🤣🤣🤣
Should've got an automatic!!! You gotta bang those gears man!
Please tell me you’re joking.
I don't know about you guys but I still enjoyed the car showcase
The most frustrating part of any test drive video are the number of self-proclaimed experts in the comments talking about how the driver of the car isn't driving it right. Especially when the driver isn't really doing anything wrong.
He is learning .... lot a waywoos for him ! Give the brotha a chance !!
I love driving past all the economy cars in a loud-as-hell muscle car! soccer moms cover your ears!
just cant get enuff of that exhaust note. i want a muscle that sounds like that soooooooooooooooooooooooo badly. makes my ears feel happy
Look to everyone that is negative on this video... My apologizes that it did not meet your video watching criteria...I believe it says in Desc - First Ride... The linkages for the shifter were not adjusted and dialed in and The first time I drove this car for more than around the block to make sure brakes worked... I'm not a great driver... where in the description did I claim to be a race car driver? Please build a Car that compares and post a video so all the Jealous haters can attack you! The Car is a beast! Unfortunately I have sold the car and moved on to another project.
It's OK Dude, but just don't let it cost like you do, No!! That's just not right, OK? Other than that, careful where you point it and be sure not to ram into someones rear end. You gotta make sure you have lots of time to break. You took a couple chances there and if a car pulls out you're done. you're not gonna be able to stop. Rule of thumb, in the city, stick to burn outs if anything. Go out of the city where there's way less traffic and let 'er loose there. Awesome ride you have, don't F%*& it up.
I can see why you sold it. 1st of all you cant drive a stick and 2nd you are clearly afraid of it....
Yeah it takes a moment, just might want to take her out in the country to stomp, away from other cars.
I love so close to where he was and to see the change in that area is INSANE buildings are just everywhere and apartments
When you have that much power......you have nothing to prove........
Fabulous ride !! THANK YOU !~!~
Legendary car for investment purposes and cruise night
But the reality is from a 30 mph pull a 2019 Camaro SS 10 speed automatic would clean his clock
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nobody fucking cares. Classics will always be better
And....I’ll probably see five 2019 Camaro SSs going to the store tonight. Nothing special at all...
@@andrewhoward8341 no you won't there slow sellers🤣🤣 but I get your point! I saw two of these back in January at the macum auto show/auction in Florida and they're definitely big money cars!
Only because of the 10 speed 😆 engine is sh*t
He turned Yenko into Yank OH!! Beautiful car.
Who taught you how to shift, your Gramma?
Could do the same with my 69 SS396. Used a Hurst Super Shifter 3 and you never miss a gear. Loved that car...
Seriously what's with all this hate half you kids on here have probly never drove in your life
Acnologia I agree
Manual Trans and Heavy City Traffic loose their novelty quickly.
This type operator makes me a stoplight wiener with SBC- 4l80e Nova every time 😊
2:38 - You should have practiced shifting before you posted the video. You missed 3rd gear!! Even your normal shifts at regular speeds sucked. But, I'm sure you finally got it down, hopefully before you wrecked it!!
Probably a nice Yenko near clone, but not a real Yenko, those didn't have floor consoles. Yenko didn't make any red 69 Camaros either.
Painful to watch! Learn to drive a 4 speed. Someone could teach ya! Beautiful car!
I own a 600 HP Plus built up 67 Shelby and with that much power this guy drives fine, shifts are OK he is not pushing all the way, you need to realize how much tork He has, I suggest getting an overdrive, easy to install and will change the car from stop light terror into a all around package, highway driving with OD will be incredible, I love mine
Who do you push the clutch in and coast.
Probably has no overdrive
That camaro is a beast!!! Hell yeah love it😮
Ouch. I'm 15 and could probably shift better.
Update: Second time driving a stick tonight at 17 years old. Can in fact shift better.
I highly doubt you know what it's like to shift an 80lb clutch spring..
I guess they do if you're a moron and have way too much engine to tire ratio. It seems like most 4 speeds are pretty easy to drive if you have a basic 350 setup. Having 700 horsepower is cool but rather useless if the clutch is too stiff to shift easily and the tires can't hook for shit. Another founding member of the more money than brains club...
Plus u were probably using a Honda or something that car probably has a big block
You guys talking mad shit but with a car that old and that much power it ain’t the same as driving a little piece of shit new stick shift car it takes more effort and skill
wow nice car i had a 69 z 28 for 18 years it had a built dz 302 small block that dynod 450 horse to the tires i miss that car more than any vehicle i ever owned
I cringe so bad when someone makes a rip and pushes in the clutch 🤢
You shift that car like you never drove anything with a stick before.. a true straight up Non car guy who just became one
