Every work have done to this car; the color, the flare, the wheels, the engine, the interior are just perfect and can see his respect to what the original car had. Thank you for the video!
the original was screwed together in a big hurry- this car has been lovingly planned out and crafted by dedicated automotive people- it makes a big difference and it's almost unfair to compare the two.....
@noble mc Custom American cars are used to be one of a major car culture in Japan around 90’s - 00’s but after the gas price went through the roof, it declined. When I had 91’ Firebird GTA around 01’ - 03’, we could still see lots of F bodies, Corvettes, Astros, Caprice sdn/wgn etc were around. But now you can hardly find these kinds in the streets. However, there are some enthusiasts who love American muscle cars of 60’s & 70’s exist. Btw, we don’t even see many JDM sports cars either and it seems that young generations like iPhones over cars.
Hello, thats wild! Never knew american muscle was really popular anywhere else! I find it ironic because tuned JDM cars where popular in the US around 90s 2000s. Note I may be wrong because Im a car guy newbie.
@@joelikespotatoes8321 Hi! Yes we used to see lots of American cars here. Most of them were from either GM or Ford sold by official dealerships. Sadly we don’t see many dealers or importers who sell American cars anymore because of their size and fuel efficiency. Well, except Tesla though, haha

This is what I believe a resto-mod should be. Subtle period correct changes and tastefully modernize the driving experience without taking away the character of the vehicle. Probably the best '68 Camaro in the world today.
@Jar of Smegma I think he's referring to "character" in the sense of the vehicle's design and aesthetic details. Too many restomods have digital dashes, wheels and interior parts from modern cars. This one looks like a regular '68 from the outside, and the interior also looks like factory spec (except for the large gauges - but they still look appropriate) - this car is very tastefully done!
And he didn't do that 24 inch low profile crap you see in Foose results. I can't recall just how many cars Chip ruined on his show over the years turning people's classic rides into some Hoopty mobile.
@port nut If that car were in a showroom today , it would not look out of place (assuming the bumpers would pass a crash test) as far as the styling. Emissions might be an issue too. The safety equipment... would be frowned upon. Boy, the government has sure ruined cars and ruined drivers too. There is so much equipment helping bad drivers , they don't need to learn how to drive.
No, Tim just realized how easy it would be to put the passenger side rear fender into one of those parked cars... I made the same face with my 450hp '71 Z28 with a 4 speed manual driving down a narrow street with cars parked on both sides... you forget sometimes how easy it is to hang the rearend out instantly....and how easy disaster can strike when you apply just a tiny bit too much throttle. Remember , Tim said it was the SECOND time he had been in the car. Tim , you have one of the coolest Camaros I have ever laid eyes on. You could not have made it better. Steve McQueen would have loved it.
Projecting. No one knows exactly what he was actually feeling and thinking at that moment besides Tim, even if you imagine you've made an identical face in an identical situation. That still doesn't mean what was going on in his head was identical to what was going on in your head. That's called projecting. You could be totally right, or you could be wrong. I don't know. What I do know is that you're projecting and acting like there's no other answer besides how *you* felt in that moment. That's not a good mindset to have. The intellectually honest answer is "I don't know, but this is what I *think is likely.*"
jawn1977jaws. Totally agree. Notice that they show the burnout a couple times and that face he made was exactly when the car started to twist sideways, and he was headed down the street toward cars parked on either side.. Yeah, I'd want to check my undies after that. 3 way tie in my book for the best looking car of all time - '57 Chevy, 68 Camaro, 70 Mach 1. Man if I ever win the Lotto - I'll have 2 of each.
+God Save America Yep, I know that look! It's called doing something you know you shouldn't in a car with no traction control on a street lined with cars. LOL!
+God Save America Good thing the diff is open or he would have done a power slide into those parked cars. Back in the day, buddy had a four speed 69 camaro SS. I think interest would be high but the demand wouldn't. A first gen Camaro is small, with the factory seats anyone over 6' will be aware of headroom. I love it. I thought Jay would look down on it, but he loves it! An old man once told me, the old cars restored still drive like an old car. This car is the best of both worlds!!!
I just saw the Ring Brothers Camaro and I came to watched this for the third time. Both great examples but if by some miracle I had a choice, .. I'd take the COPO 427. It screams cool.
OMG.!!!!! Be-a-utiful.!!!!!!! In 1967 and 1968, Yenko was dropping 427 cubic-inch monsters from Corvettes into Camaro bodies and creating some of the most powerful Camaros of the era. One of Yenko’s crowning achievements came in 1969 when Yenko was tired of selling Camaros with limited warranties because of his modifications and convinced Chevy to add a 427-equipped Camaro to its special equipment ordering system, known as COPO (central office production order). This addition of the 427-equipped Camaro to COPO made it possible for Yenko to sell these cars with the GM-standard 5-year or 50,000-mile warranty. Yenko ordered a grand total of 198 of the Camaro 427s available from COPO. The total number of COPO Camaros produced and sold is unknown, but has been rumored as anywhere from 500 to 1,000. With exception of the 427 jammed into the engine compartment, the Camaro 427s came from COPO with almost nothing identifying them as a special model; they even came with the old dog dish hubcaps on steel wheels. Yenko made sure to order his from COPO with 15-inch rally wheels, a front stabilizer bar, and a 140 mph speedometer. The rest of the customization was all Yenko’s doing.
Tastefully done. Those wheels are perfect for that color and style of car. Man Tim has the same exact taste as I do. Wish I could meet these guys in person.
it is nice to know that the tool man really is a mechanic and wasn't just acting like it. those that know that nickname will know the series where he had that name. gorgeous work
I wasn't sure if that was by his hand or just made to look like it for the show. it is good to know he wasn't faking that he enjoys vehicles including working on them
Tim knows what looks good... this car is perfect. Nothing out of place, nothing overdone. Love the rims, love the color... it's the kinda car that makes you look twice.
HA! Yea right you must be crazy, because it is NOT the kinda car that makes me look twice, its the kinda car that makes me look 100 times . haha, IM just messing with ya ; )
Even the Italian stylists in their 1950's & 60's heyday couldn't have designed a car as beautiful as that. It is perfect from every angle. ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. Lovely colour aswell !
True dudes right here. Funny I literally just watched Tim and Jay laying some rubber on Jay's show from like 20 years ago, and they are still doing it together all this time later. That makes my heart happy.
I'm a Ford guy through and through, but I have a soft spot for the 67 and 68 Camaros.. especially the 68 as I like them without the vent window.. that car is built nicely.. and the look on Tim's face.. looked like he wasnt ready for the power there.. he might want to check the seat for marks... :) thanks for sharing the car with us, Tim Allen.
My exact thoughts about Tim's burnout but I would probably have same "oh man" facial if I was taking a responsive yet "loose" vehicle down a street with parked vehicles. I have had my fair share of check the seat moments!
I've always been a Mustang/Ford guy, and we used to make fun of Chevys and Camaros, but this is the best Camaro I've ever seen, and I would be proud to own and drive it. Tim did such a great job with his choices and approach to the machine. It's truly awesome! And he even painted it my favorite color (love dark metallic greens)! What a ride - Thanks Jay and Tim!
The first gen Camaros always struck me as the equivalent of a finely tailored suit. In the beautiful shade of green Tim has on this car, it's just magnificent. This just reminds me more of why a '69 Camaro restomod is my dream car.
+Borderline5440 The poportions are right there. Modern versions of these kind of cars, but also Porsches..... it´slike there was a basic design, that only worked for certain dimensions and now they have blown them out of proportion. Baby -> cutest thing on earth. Mansized baby -> nothing but creapy.
Agreed. It's so beautiful, I would literally start crying if it drove by me. It has everything a car needs, the old look, with all the modern quality, and performance. It's almost universally agreed that Chevy needs to recreate this look, and stop fiddling around.
If I had unlimited funds, this is the exact way that I would have my cars built. Love the stock "look" but to know and see all of the subtle changes that make this car absolutely stunning. Kudo's to the guys that designed and built this car with Tim's input and wants.
"Still can't beat this look. I don't know if it's an age thing or what?" Yeah Jay, it may be, but you are spot on, hard to beat the look of a 68 Camaro!
Beautiful ride! Love the fact that Tim uses the car as it was intended. And Tim and Jay, in a car like that, you just know they're gonna find trouble. 👍🏼
"Hold on, I'll be right back." Priceless. Both Jay and Tim are in their 60s, and viewers in this bracket will get the joke. (I'd write more here, but, uh, I gotta go.)
+Thomas Ballenger Think he realised he probably wasnt in the smartest place to do it with cars/trucks on either side of him, when it starts skipping the back end out sideways and you get that " this isnt going as planned" feeling lol. I know it well.
I like the fact that Tim refrained from putting a cowl induction hood on it(which wasn't available until the '69 Camaros were released) like everybody seems to on early Camaros. '67-'68s are my favorite Camaros(followed by '70 1/2-'73s). the flares are nicely done(looks a little gen 2 Camaro at certain angles, especially the wheel openings IMO). Superb Camaro!
I've never seen a Camaro from that era with almost invisible mods on it like that one. Tim really had a good plan for "driver". Jay sure loves it too! Great episode, thanks.
This is one of my top 5 most beautiful examples of a car ever. The colour, the contours, the basic clean and nostalgic interior and those wheels are just .... I want to hug them.
Rally's are the way to go. On my 69' I had the matte black painted in between the shiny crime of the wheel..man did it look badass...Tim's car here is just flawless
Every time this video pops up in my feed I watch it, because Tim's Camaro looks just like my grandmother's '68 327 before my father sold it. I miss that car so much and I'm still have some animosity toward him for no selling it to me.
+MrNotorius5500 WHAT are you referring to? Holding WHAT over his head? All he said was "a TH-cam". Tim would be someone with a great channel. R, R, R, R!
I love Tim Allen! haha Great funny guy. Used to watch a lot of Home Improvement, and I've seen many of his movies too. This was a great episode. Jay Leno and Tim Allen, a good comedic pairing I think.
I saw this Camero and it brought tears to my eyes. My sister had a ‘68 the same color, but with a white stripe around the front end and down the side. 327, 3 speed. It had been her boyfriend’s before he went to Vietnam. She took over the payments when he was drafted. Unfortunately, she lost control of it during an ice storm and it was a basket case after that. Thank God she wasn’t hurt. We were 4 years and 1 day apart in age, she being born on April 3rd, 1952 and me on April 4th, 1956. She passed away in 2017 of cancer, leaving a huge void in my life and a bigger hole in my heart. Great car Tim. May it live forever. Danny Matthews

I just saw the Ring Brothers Camaro and I came to watched this for the third time. Both great examples but if by some miracle I had a choice, .. I'd take the COPO 427. It screams cool.
One of my favorite cars on Jay's Garage, thanks, Tim got everything right (helps to have a ton of money to spend)
Man, what a beautiful car. Definitely a classic done right. Nice to see a legit Hollywood car guy too.
The Arnold impression was the best. Great looking car. I love 69' but that is one of the best looking 68s I've seen.
That scared look on Tim's face when he's doing the burnout. Priceless!
Tastefully done. Those wheels are perfect for that color and style of car. Man Tim has the same exact taste as I do.
Wish I could meet these guys in person.
Me too, but Tim has does not have to cut corners. He an do everything right.
Looks like it could be Verdoro Green, a Pontiac color, referring '68 GTO color, but it could be a custom color, also so who knows.
Car guys...we know what we like!
it is nice to know that the tool man really is a mechanic and wasn't just acting like it. those that know that nickname will know the series where he had that name. gorgeous work
His 1933 Ford Roadster was actually built on the set of the show Home Improvement.
I wasn't sure if that was by his hand or just made to look like it for the show. it is good to know he wasn't faking that he enjoys vehicles including working on them
JAVERON H. I
Tim The Tool Man Taylor. ugggh ugggh guuuhg uuugh ugggh
Leno always gives us a fantastic review in real time. He's just sharing his thoughts in the moment, its great.
Even the Italian stylists in their 1950's & 60's heyday couldn't have designed a car as beautiful as that. It is perfect from every angle. ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. Lovely colour aswell !
5:37 Tim is doing a great job throwing some jokes in there and Jay is just drooling all over his car. LMAO. Truly are car guys.
Check 5:20 Jay made the best joke of the whole thing
@@JumpingWatermelons 10:24
it really is endearing Jay drooling yet we know he could buy and rebuild 5 of these if he wanted
Jay's FLOMAX was priceless!!!
True dudes right here. Funny I literally just watched Tim and Jay laying some rubber on Jay's show from like 20 years ago, and they are still doing it together all this time later. That makes my heart happy.
Listening to these two Legends eloquently discuss cars with so much knowledge and insight has made me now feel like an expert!
😅
I love Tim Allen's laugh when Jay gives it gas in 3rd gear and it still snaps him back.
Ferrari guy and life long Formula 1 fan sounding in.
I would not mind having Tim's car in my garage : )
I owned a 67 Camaro for many years n I love it. The 1st gens are just the coolest looking metal body cars Detroit ever built.
The first gen Camaros always struck me as the equivalent of a finely tailored suit. In the beautiful shade of green Tim has on this car, it's just magnificent. This just reminds me more of why a '69 Camaro restomod is my dream car.
Same

+Borderline5440 The poportions are right there. Modern versions of these kind of cars, but also Porsches..... it´slike there was a basic design, that only worked for certain dimensions and now they have blown them out of proportion. Baby -> cutest thing on earth. Mansized baby -> nothing but creapy.
+9and10 Good point!
Officially my favourite camaro ever built. What a stunner.
Best looking Camaro-I've ever seen.
Perfection has so many forms, this being one of them. Simply beautiful.
He was so damn scared when he was doing the burn out, he thought he was gonna go sideways in to a car! Priceless:)
Amen, brother. Time for that Saw Palmetto.
Clever comment sir 👍
Jay is actually in his 70s!
..and the look on Tim's face doing a burn-out....OMG, OMG. OMG this is scary!!!
+Thomas Ballenger Think he realised he probably wasnt in the smartest place to do it with cars/trucks on either side of him, when it starts skipping the back end out sideways and you get that " this isnt going as planned" feeling lol. I know it well.
+Antifaith29 hahah yep, been there, done that!
+Thomas Ballenger Not as scary as *shower time* in a Michigan state prison.
woooooooooow.
+Thomas Ballenger Remember, he is an actor.
LOL! The look on Tim's face as he doing a burn out is priceless.
Yeah,@12:10 it looks as though he's about to wipe out.
lol yeah he looks terrified hahaha
Thank you, Tim and Jay! For sharing the Camaro and the ride experience with us! 😊
Love Tim’s Camaro. One of my favorite Camaro’s ever. Not over the top and kept the essence of the car.
Tim Allen is really growing on me. Total gearhead.
Classy video!!!
+Ragnarr Sigurdsson - "Home Improvement" endless dumb dangerous conditions and stunts working with construction tools.
Love his car taste, his politcs...not so much
FirebirdCamaro1220 you like the communist politics huh
Does anyone else remember Tim Allens 50's nomad in Home Improvement because I do. Also, that car is just gorgeous, and he is a real car guy!
Oh yeah, how could you forget that!
Prayer for Jay this week. Hang in there Leno!!
Born in '56 I am a late '60s - early 70s car guy! THANK YOU!
Superb Camaro!
jay leno = Americas top gear
Not a bad idea.
Really though
Games and Guns what about the guys over at roadkill?
Energize Production Never watched it
you gotta watch roadkill if you're a carguy dude its awesome.
What a great episode! Love Tim Allen and love Jay Leno! Wonderful car, fun to see both of them in the car.
Tim Allen is a cool guy. And that is one great car.
late 60's early 70's , still the best lines . Smooth, clean simple.
Those pumped guards ( fenders) are just gorgeous.
Thank you for this classic American Muscle car. I grew up in the '70s so this talks to me.
I've never seen a Camaro from that era with almost invisible mods on it like that one.
Tim really had a good plan for "driver".
Jay sure loves it too!
Great episode, thanks.
I like that the aesthetic mods mostly just made it look more like a Javelin
@@KrikZ32 😂
Might be the nicest Camaro I think I've ever seen.
LOL I about died when he did the burnout his face. He loves it but it scared him haha
I noticed that also.......too funny.
If doesn't scare you then it's not any fun.
I want a muscle car like this one so I can do some burnouts!!
I think he sharted in his pants.
hahaha he thought he was gonna loose control man, which he was!!! lol by the cars in the beginning!!! xD
Oh I always loved the '68 Camaro. My parents had one and I'd take it out whenever they'd let me, and I found out that the girls seemed to like it too!
Lucky lucky lucky
My first car was a '68 Camaro. It only had the 250 cube I-6 and Powerglide, but I loved it!
Lucky!
68 is my favorite, so clean!
its great hearing old dads talking about there cars:)
When Jay said "rollin on 22 inch dubs"
lol @ tims face when hes doing the burn out
Panic!
its almost like jay dared tim to do the burn out and tim didn't want to look like a chicken in front of everyone
This has to be one of my all time favourite car builds. I would love to own this car.
This is one of my top 5 most beautiful examples of a car ever. The colour, the contours, the basic clean and nostalgic interior and those wheels are just .... I want to hug them.
What country are you in
👍
The most beautiful Camaro ! Just right better than later body styles.
Rally's are the way to go. On my 69' I had the matte black painted in between the shiny crime of the wheel..man did it look badass...Tim's car here is just flawless
If I had the money for a perfect Camaro from this generation, this is pretty much what I would do to it. Clean and tasteful.
Wow that is one beautiful car
Every time this video pops up in my feed I watch it, because Tim's Camaro looks just like my grandmother's '68 327 before my father sold it. I miss that car so much and I'm still have some animosity toward him for no selling it to me.
Gorgeous car Tim and Jay,
I remember when those were new cars... There were a couple of Air Force officers that had them so we would see them in town now and them
Kriss Femmpaws Yea, I'd love to get a 69 Camero fastback :)
*****
Or CamAro? And going by the literal definition of what a fastback is, the Camaro wasn't a fastback until 1970.
RevolutionMuscle There was limited productions of the Fastback in '69, technically the titles say 1970, but the production dates are from '69.
+Wranglerstar Nice seeing you here.
Tim Allen needs a youtube channel.. Big time!
Hey give the guy a break. At least he turned over some kind of new leaf. Why keep holding something over someones head for years and years?
+MrNotorius5500 WHAT are you referring to? Holding WHAT over his head? All he said was "a TH-cam". Tim would be someone with a great channel. R, R, R, R!
What? You must have replied to the wrong comment.
I think he was making a joke about Allen's troubles with the law back in the 70s and tongue in cheek pretending 'big time' meant time in prison.
His channel needs all the outdoor man vlogs from Last Man Standing
Tim seems like a real person, he isn’t involved with the fake Hollywood scene. At least that’s what it appears.
He's been hit pretty hard in the past few years for being right-leaning. If being a Republican in Hollywood without apologies isn't a test of realness, I don't know what is. #LeftistsHate
Right.even on his sit com he had his show car in the garage working on it.
I think he is too old for that anyway
Nah, Tim's One of Us... ;) \,,/
@@CapnSlipp I honestly think that in modern day times. There are way to many people who are WAY TO FAR LEFT, or WAY TO FAR RIGHT, on the political spectrum where both sides need to be closer so while they may not have to agree with each other, they can at least listen to the other side perspective
Jay: it's not an age thing - I'm 20 and this car is stunning!
Thanks for sharing this fantastic car with everyone. So clean, and beautifully old school modern. Nicely done Tim.
"Cause I drive these things."
Thank you! Don't let those beauties just sit around. Gorgeous car!
