Honestly ever since the CNC reviews and upgrades I’ve been watching. Might want to check out the MPCNC (mostly printed CNC) that’s under $700 to build and can mill aluminum or cut steel if you add a laser cutter.
@@dawn9340 I really enjoy it and the fact I built it myself is pretty cool. I used it to cut some 6mm APC board for my 3D printer build and it worked out great but thats pretty soft and thin Aluminum. I have some 8mm sheet stock but I am not sure what to make from it yet. lol
You are without a doubt one of the most professional reviewers regarding anything 3d printing online. I often forget that you are no older than my youngest grand-daughter but infinitely more informed and professional than many of the reviewers I follow. Well done. Keep up the good work.
This channel is like Project Farm. Right to the subject without extra chatter. You move at a moderately fast, smooth pace and give us a lot of useful information. I really appreciate the time you put into this video.
Creality has hit upon a product that many of us might try to build from parts only to realize that cleaver minds can sort that for us. I add this review as one of your most helpful ever as it saved me from trying to "klipper-ize" a 3D printer; just slap down a credit card. Your (plural) work is clearly a must for me; no wonder you are offered products to review as the vendors and us completely believe what you find out and serve up to us in a very concise manner. Your work is exemplary.
Young lady, your parents are doing a great job raising you and your brother. I learn so much watching your videos. They are unbiased and quick and to the point. Keep up the great work.
Yet another great video and your walk thru has made up my mind. I will be picking up this Sonic Pad. Keep up the incredible work and look forward to your next video, next Monday.
I'm glad you specifically mentioned the V2 Neo. A couple months ago I got one as my first 3D printer specifically because it came with the upgrades that I felt I would end up adding anyway, but then I came to find out how new the printer was and that if I wanted to add anything to it I needed to take a chance that it shared V2 part similarities or compatibility. Nothing is listed for the new printers yet.
Hi Aurora, yet another super informative video, I have been wanting to know more about Creality's Sonic Pad and your video was excellent. Not sure it is for me at this time but at least now, thanks to you, I know a little more about the product. Keep up the great video reviews😊
Thank you. You were the only one who showed if the Sonic Pad was compatible with the Ender 3 V1 and showed how it is done. In several places there was only speculation that it would work, but never real proof. Just because of that, I subscribed to your channel. I will order a Sonic Pad for myself now that I am sure it works on the original Ender 3
This is by far the best intro video to klipper on YT. It gets to the heart of doing useful things with it but without going into hours and hours of minutia. 10/10 review
I love your reviews. I did also find the z offset issue with my sonic pad. I feel like a fool since I haven't found a way to direct send the print to the pad or printer from my laptop with moonraker. Thanks for the great efforts you put into this keep the info flowing 😎
You did the Sonic Pad! Thank you for responding to your viewers 👍 Your expertise and problem solving is epic. Please could you do either of these three videos before the end of 2022 or in early 2023: 1) A summary of the top consumer printers 2022. 2) A summary of the top innovations/improvements seen across consumer 3D Printers 2022. 3) Your wishlist of features and components on a consumer printer for 2023 (Aurora TopTech 2023).
Another great video. You are the best reviewer of 3D printing stuff. The way you do the reviews is perfect and very professional. If you decide to become an engineer you are going to be great at it, based on your videos it's obvious you are super intelligent (genius) and have all the skills required. 😎
thank you you and your brother helped me a lot picking my first printer that ive been waiting for 35 years to get. ending up getting the ender 3 s1 plus for 3d rc planes was up and printing in less than a hour from unboxing with your help could not be happer for first printer. all ready thinking about next one thank you thank you
I couldn’t agree more with the positive things people are saying here! Clear, calm dictation. Knowledgeable and helpful. Straightforward and to the point. Keep up the good work!
It seems you've got Creality's ear! A single Sonic Pad can now handle up to four printers. Apparently they've also made it easier to use with pretty much any FDM printer. I've got an Ender 5 S1 and Sonic Pad arriving Thursday and I'm looking forward to seeing what this pairing can do.
As many times as I've seen people raving about the benefits of Klipper, I've completely avoided making that switch myself because I'm wigged about the idea of messing around with the firmware. Knowing that I could take my Ender 3, swap out that 1.1.5 silent board for a 32-bit board, and plug it into an external device to do the job with relatively little fuss is really something. Great review!
Hello, please help, is it possible to create instructions for installing a clipper on a sonic pad of various models, such as kingroon or artillery or mks mini board for Ender priners.
I just received my sonic pad and it’s super hard to find videos on it because not a lot of people have them but I need to calibrate my e steps and you please make a video explaining how to do that and other tuning on the sp
Great video. If only my experience was as smooth as yours. My sonic pad didn't even have the same steps loaded on it as yours did. I never saw anything about loading a usb into the pad.
Hi Aurora, I love watching all your videos. They have been very informative and helpful to me in my journey with 3D printing. Anyways I was just wondering if you could also do a follow up video on how to add other Creality printers that are currently not supported in the Sonic Pad. I think that would be super helpful for users. Thanks a heap and keep up the awesome work. 👏👏🙏
I heard that if you can teach a 6 year old how to do something then your a master at it but what if the 6 year old is teaching you what dose that say lol!!!! Excellent review!!!! Thanks!!! I just ordered my first printer got the V2 pro and been looking at videos to study how to use it this popped up and I'm glad I ran into your channel it's very helpful for the tech illiterate like myself....
I have a question and sorry for my not so good English if you could convert a normal Ender 3 or Ender 3 Pro with an Ender 3 S1 extruder head it would be really interesting if there were a video about ?🤔
Very informative video! Those of us with the v2 neo dont be disheartened. Ive had the v2 neo for a few weeks now and got it tuned up with the sonic pad and added a dual z screw for about thirty dollars. I Just printed a near perfect benchy in 1 hour 11 minutes.
Hi Aurora. Like everyone here, we all really appreciate anther excellent and detailed review for which we're grateful. One point if I may - you tend to 'speed' over some of the more important technical issues as to why by example, some of the changes you make are needed and for those of us who are not technical - it quickly becomes confusing in trying to understand what the change is, why it is needed and I would ask that you just take a moment to better explain and 'walk' us through the issue and what you're doing to resolve it.
I received mine a couple of days ago after (im)patiently waiting for it to arrive. It’s not like I was stalking it I mean it’s mine just because I logged in to track it every couple of hours once it said shipped. And finally I greet the delivery guy on the porch arms outstretched like a giddy child on Christmas morning ((53y/o here) only to discover that since I have an ender 3 pro it is not so plug and play and I am too ignorant to fix it on my own and until now had found no one online Reddit, TH-cam etc., and I have been patiently waiting for her to release this very video. This channel is my first stop for reviews even if I know I’m not interested I end up learning something.
In the lastest firmware update for the Sonic Pad, they added several printer profiles, including one for the "CR10 Smart". However they do NOT have the "CR10 Smart PRO" on there that I've seen. As they have different boards in them, I am assuming that this is not a usable profile for the Smart PRO. Why would they add the older, less updated Smart, and leave out the Smart Pro??? Anyway, I'd love for you to do a video of adding the Sonic Pad to the CR10 Smart Pro, and show the results. Also, I'd love to know where you got the 5015 blower for your 5 S1 Pro, as I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for all the well rounded and professionally done vids by you and your brother. I hope to get an answer to these questions, as I have a lot riding on it. Lastly, if you have time, I'd love to see a compare/contrast between the Ender 5 S1 Pro, and the Smart Pro. Thanks. Cheers!
The Biqu CB1 with their 4b adapter board has been a great deal for replacing the need for an official raspberry pi. For about 60 dollars US you can get a pi3 equivalent for running klipper.
"It's still a bed-slinger with rubber wheels" Lmao, Aurora Tech telling it exactly how it is. Well done. I'm very excited to see where Creality takes this hardware, it has a lot of potential and looks like a hell of a good start. The results are disappointing however. Hopefully they'll be able to take full advantage of it's potential in the future and we'll see better results. I completely agree that adding custom printers would be a huge improvement to the few profiles they currently have. Damn good review.
I too would like to see usability with non-creality printers. Like the mini printers (TIna2) and so on. It would be nice it it supported profiles from different printers. At least that way you’d be closer to a viable setup.
As I just calibrated mine - it would appear that they have updated the process a bit and it allows you the ability to move the calibration sensor between X and Y resonance. I havent done the pressure advance part yet, but I am already noticing the difference between the stock and the Klipper. Running a test cube as we speak after doing the resonance...
ive been having problems with the pad for last week straight. cant seem to figure out why the print is stoping mid print on all prints... very frustrating
Anyone know how do you get back into the probe calibration? I do not see anyway to use the UI for this again. I am missing all these options under configure
Do you know if you can disconnect the existing screen once sonic pad is installed? I don't see the purpose of keeping the screen that is not functional.
While I have two printers with a Raspberry Pi setup, I have a PC with Windows 10 running Octoprint connected to three printers. Can Klipper can be configured the same way?
great video, thanks. If I have run the calibration once initially, what do I have to do to rerun it? does the routine overwrite previous procedures or do I have to change any settings before rerunning it? Thanks
why does no one every show the issue with the ATMEGA1284 chip, board 1.1.4? It has no bootloader and requires you to purchase an additional piece of hardware and search endlessly to find the file you need for an bootloader.
Does the pressure advance with klipper and sonic pad work with the tmc2208 stepper drivers on the 4.2.2 board as I couldn't get it to work with Marlin and would like to be able to use pressure advance
Very very thank you🙏🙏🙏🙏 Hello, my printer is an ender3 v2 neo model and I don't want high speed at all and only quality is important to me. According to the conclusion of this video, it shows for my printer model. have you tried Do you recommend this device for this model? My other printer is creality cr6max model. And I don't know how to conclude in this model. Is it possible to post a video for this model? Do you recommend this sonic pad device for this model for higher print quality?
If I upgrade my ender3 v2 or s1 pro to the sonic pad and don't like it can I flash back to marlin, unified, professional(s1 with display change)or other custom firmware?
May I ask, if you had a CR10S Pro V2 would you: add a sonicpad or invest in a Flsun v400 or invest in a sonicpad for the CR10S Pro V2 and add a decent bed slinger to also plug into the sonicpad?
You seem to know what you're doing and I really need help. I have a CR touch and the Sprite Extruder pro on my ender 3 v2 . I'm also using a sonic pad. I came across a problem where when I try to do the auto leveling, the probe does the first 5 points then misses the bed completely on the 6th and the extruder pushes against the bed. I guess it's not aligned or something but I don't understand what's wrong. I also don't know how to edit the klipper config either so I can't really experiment with changing things. Please help!
Is there anyway you could do a video on how to set up the sonic pad on a cr 10 smart. There is a lack of information/documentation on the proper way to do it. The steps you have provided for the printers in your video are spot on and I was just wondering with the amount of knowledge you have, if you could provide some insight that creality has not provided on the proper way to use the sonic pad with the cr 10 smart. Thank you in advance and I hope you consider my request. Rich
Very straight forward, wunderbar ;) Do you know where I can put in the command into der printer config to present the print after finish to y 235, as in the gcode of cura it does not do it? (I need it to switch of the printer so the bad must go to the very front) Thanks for a hint
If / when the CR-200B / Pro is supported by the Sonic Pad, would you consider doing a review? I’m considering adding a CR-Touch and Sonic Pad, but not sure if I wouldn’t better spend my money on a new K1.
Really enjoy your videos, so thank you very much. Your video on the S1 Plus was my deciding factor to get one, so thank you. My question is, how hard/easy would it be to set it up for an S1 then modify the build volume area? Or set up as S1 Pro and change build area? I have already ordered my sonic pad, but until I have a better idea of how to be able to adjust the build volume I won’t use it.
I don't have an Ender-7, but seems it's not using the same Creality v4.2.2 motherboard as the Ender-3 V2 and many other Creality printers. You need to wait for their new firmware to support the Ender-7.
I have an Ender 3 v2 neo with a sprite pro direct drive extruder, upgraded cooling duct, 42-40 Y axis motor, dual axis Z and BTT SKR Mini E3 V3, I'm planning on installing a Klipper pad to my setup, would my results be similar to the S1? Thanks!
UPDATE: Yesterday Creality released an update to SonicPad that allows 4 printers to be controlled from one pad! I tested this today by adding a second printer to the SonicPad controlling the Ender 3 S1 Pro (My Ender 5 Plus has is own as it is located elsewhere). Easy peasy setup and operational just as the first one was. What a great value! I am going to sell my two PI's and screens...I like this better..all supported, minutes to install, less expensive. what is not to like? My onlystrange issue is that in Cura 5.2.1 the Build Plate temperature disappears with the provided Cura profiles. It is checked off in Cura settings, but is somehow surpressed- this forces me to adjust when I go to print- although easy, you shouldn't have to--looking in to this now.
the z offset thing makes it seem like it may be defaulted for the glass bed surface, instead of the steel one. if so, bit of an oversight in the config options, perhaps.
I have the Ender 3 V2, and I just ordered the SKR Mini E3 V3 with the CR-Touch…. Once I swap out the board and install the new CR-Touch, will the Sonic Pad work with my new setup?
How do you connect the ender 3 pro to the sonic pad? It's a super simple process but on the final step I can't connect the screen while the printer is powered on with USB or the serial cable. I'm using a 4.2.7 board with sprite extruder and cr touch. Been trying to get support from creality but it's quickly turning into a nightmare. Anyone else having issues with this? Seems fine for the ender 3 V2 and up but with this specific one it's hard to get going.
Hi I have a question. Which option is better. Ender 3v2 Neo or ender s1. Is the metal extruder on neo a big deal? Or is the extra motor and timing belt setup on s1 more important for better prints.?
I tried to calibrate the y axis with the command in the video, but I get an error message "// {"code":"key61, "msg":"Unknown command:SHAPER_CALIBRATE", "values": ["SHAPER_CALIBRATE"]}"
Do you have firmware ender 3 pro + CR Touch on motherboard 4.2.7 ? I have problem build size install cr touch firmware original.i can build on size 210mm. I'm so sad 😞..
Curious.. how were you able to print the 52 and 41 minute benchies? I raised print speed from 50 to 200, acceleration from 500 to 2000.. estimated print time went from 104 minutes to 81. Standard 20% infill and 0.2mm layer height. I have the Ender 3 v2 with upgraded 4.2.7 board and Sprite Pro extruder, and have been using the Ender-3 S1 profile in Cura.
This is a great run down of the features of the pad and setup. I have one on the way! I did have a question about it I hope you could answer. I have an Ender 5 Pro and I haven't seen anyone set it up with those yet. Would a custom firmware need to be generated for an Ender 5 or say a Creality printer with BTT SKR? Hopefully I'll have it by next week and I can figure it out.
I watched another video to find what the purpose of the resonance test is for. He said it’s similar to what noise cancelling headphones do. Although obvious, they sample the noise at your ears and not your feet. So the resonance test needs to measure the frequencies as the print head sees them. By putting the sensor on the bed during the Y-axis readings, you are taking the vibrations that travel through the z-axis lead screws and through the rollers the print head rides on out of the equation. I suggest running the test both ways and print something tall to see if there are any noticeable differences. Maybe that is why you are not able to get faster speeds on some of your tests Aurora.
Another analogy of this is the large mass dampers near the top of tall skyscrapers. They dampen the sway of the building they feel at the top especially during earthquakes, not what is happening at the base. If the bed of the printer is reading higher vibration levels than what the print head sees, it will overcompensate for it in the software. Since I'm going to install the Sonic Pad on an S1 Plus that has a bigger bed (hence, more mass), I may see a more noticeable difference between compensation and no compensation on it. The printer overall is more massive so there could be less vibration going to the printhead compared to a standard size printer.
You are fast becoming my go to for 3D printing hardware reviews. I have been waiting for an unbiased review of the Sonic Pad and you delivered.

While I have two printers with a Raspberry Pi setup, I have a PC with Windows 10 running Octoprint connected to three printers. Can Klipper can be configured the same way?
where can i get the configuration for creality ender 3 MAX Neo so i can use the sonic screen with my printer
Hello. Is there any way you might make a video showing how to set up a CR-10 SMART with the Sonic Pad? Nobody has done one with the Bowden Extruder!
one of the best videos on this topic. thank you!
great video, thanks.
Is the original ender 3 have an upgraded hotend? Can it print that fast on stock extruder and hotend?
Very very thank you🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hello, my printer is an ender3 v2 neo model and I don't want high speed at all and only quality is important to me. According to the conclusion of this video, it shows for my printer model. have you tried Do you recommend this device for this model? My other printer is creality cr6max model. And I don't know how to conclude in this model. Is it possible to post a video for this model? Do you recommend this sonic pad device for this model for higher print quality?
If I upgrade my ender3 v2 or s1 pro to the sonic pad and don't like it can I flash back to marlin, unified, professional(s1 with display change)or other custom firmware?
so what if I have an upgraded Ender 3 V2 with a Sprite Hotend / Extruder. Can the profile be adapted for that?
please keep up these good videos , they are great and easy to understand
May I ask, if you had a CR10S Pro V2 would you:
add a sonicpad or
invest in a Flsun v400 or
invest in a sonicpad for the CR10S Pro V2 and add a decent bed slinger to also plug into the sonicpad?
You seem to know what you're doing and I really need help. I have a CR touch and the Sprite Extruder pro on my ender 3 v2 . I'm also using a sonic pad. I came across a problem where when I try to do the auto leveling, the probe does the first 5 points then misses the bed completely on the 6th and the extruder pushes against the bed. I guess it's not aligned or something but I don't understand what's wrong. I also don't know how to edit the klipper config either so I can't really experiment with changing things. Please help!
Can the original screen for the ender 3 s1 pro be disconnected and use the sonic screen exclusive?
Is there anyway you could do a video on how to set up the sonic pad on a cr 10 smart. There is a lack of information/documentation on the proper way to do it. The steps you have provided for the printers in your video are spot on and I was just wondering with the amount of knowledge you have, if you could provide some insight that creality has not provided on the proper way to use the sonic pad with the cr 10 smart. Thank you in advance and I hope you consider my request.

Do you have to insert the G29 Command into the gcode in your slicer for the sonic pad to use the mesh data? If not, how can i turn off bed mesh?
Hi, what does 120mm/s mean? the default speed in cura with about 60mm/s outer wall speed? or is this true 120mm/s outer Wall speed?
Curious about this myself
Would you do that test. The sonic pad with an ender 7.
Thanks!
Will this work with a Cr-6 se and a bigtreetech cr6 board? Would love to use this on that board.
I have an Ender 3 V2 with Sprite Pro print head. Can the Sonic Pad be configured for this modification?
the z offset thing makes it seem like it may be defaulted for the glass bed surface, instead of the steel one. if so, bit of an oversight in the config options, perhaps.
I have the Ender 3 V2, and I just ordered the SKR Mini E3 V3 with the CR-Touch…. Once I swap out the board and install the new CR-Touch, will the Sonic Pad work with my new setup?
I got a ‘can not update MCU config as it is shutdown’ error please help, when do the xaxis vibration test
Hi , i have a error key1 one , after 30 40 min , maybe its cable but i try 3 cable , print on neptune 3
9:28 wrong calculations, 15x(your factor is 0.005)=0.075
Curious.. how were you able to print the 52 and 41 minute benchies?
Does the Sonic Pad work with an ender 3 v1 with a BTT skr mini e3 v2 (also has microswiss NG DD)??
Do you know how to change it from celisus to Fahrenheit?
What mainboard is in the Ender 3 V2 Neo - is it RET6 or RCT6? Could explain the bad prints you got on the Neo.
Is it possible to use Klipper for Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus, and is it possible to increase max nozzle temp to 300 C using Klipper ?
