      Probably because we're the competition to the "White man world". However, this allows diversity, creativity and blossoming of Chinese culture because it's kept contained in this section of the world.

    Thanks for your nice video. China is a peaceful country, it brings me tears and hope to know some decent foreigners are talking about China to the rest of the world. I hope the Western politicians and media will speak about the truth of China rather than smearing China to cover up their failures and corruptions in their system.

    This video evokes a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of classic travel TV shows featuring a charismatic host, presenting a delightful sequence of food, people, and architecture. I even suspected it was filmed in the early 2000s! In contrast, the vibes from today's TH-cam travel vloggers are distinctly different. 😄

      @KennyL1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +34

      I agree with your suspicion it was filmed in the early 2000s. Cash was used to pay for breakfast. Today, this would be paid using the phone. Also noted people in the queues were not on their mobile phones. This would be unusual today.

      From the xplay6 advertisement at 0:12, you can deduce that this is filmed later than Nov. 2016, and judging from the clothing of the people as well as the blooming vegetations, it can be deduced that this film is filmed around May-June 2017.

    As we see that a lot of Chinese born young people who grew up in the western world got a negative image of China, I think this video will help broaden their mind. So I shared it with my 19 year old daughter hoping that some day she would ask me to take her into China and explore. Thank you Salmantha for this great piece of work!

      Plenty of us grew up bilingual, read information from both sides, and made up our own minds that while all governments are imperfect, China is just too much of a hell hole for regular people (feel free to ignore this if your family is part of the small number of Chinese political elites).

    Samantha Brown, long time no see. I used to watch your traveling videos probably more than 10 yr ago. Then you vanished or I got lost. I am glad you reappeared in my scope. I was born and grew up in Taiwan. I have been living in the US since 1960's. I visited Shanghai 24 y ago. At that time, there was only one skyscraper in Putong, the Pearl Tower. Only one piece is missing in this video is the views of the spectacular colorful light shows in the skyscrapers in Putong looking from the east bank of Huangpu river. I have seen these beautiful scenes taken from other travelers.

    This video is quite nostalgic. It reminds me of that day when western media describe China as beautiful Asian country with full of sceneries and delicious food telling people China is worth visiting.

    How wonderful the editing is. What a shame you just made two episodes for China. Can't wait to see more.

    China is the safest country in the world today. There is no fear in going out late at night, very low crime rate, that is what freedom is suppose to be.
