China is not at all what we imagined! Today marks our first day in Shanghai, kicking off our month-long journey across the country. Our plan is to not only visit the vibrant and modern cities but also uncover the serene countryside and wander through ancient towns. It’s our first time really exploring China and we're excited to immerse ourselves in its people, cuisine, and culture. Our Shanghai adventure begins with a stroll along the chic Yuyuan Road, a pitstop at an underground food haven suggested by a friendly local, and a visit to the renowned Bund for that classic Shanghai skyline view.

I literally just left Shanghai after a 12 days China tour. China is so clean, so big! And the people are so polite and friendly. The Bund, you see it on TH-cam, on pictures, but nothing like seeing with your own eyes. It is like....staring into the future.
We absolutely agree! It’s a place you have to experience in person - both in the daytime and night time 🥰
@@FloraandNote you guys see any human right abuses? 🤣 😂
Western countries sucessfully painted China as a bad-maintained, dirty and backward country full of rude and brainwashed people. In this way, compared to China, all Western countries are in heaven.
@@andrewdence8632 Bring your passport, apply a visa, book an air ticket, come to xinjiang or tibet and see whether there is a 'human rights abuse'. The Chinese always say 'seeing is believing'.
@@andrewdence8632 I was like you until I work for a german company that has factories in Europe, china and south america. Born and raised in the midwest USA, never in a million years would I believe that this is china until I visited the plant in China. I remember how anxious I was before traveling only to find out that all I knew from the media/everyone (even the church goers) was a big lie. I know the media lies especially in politics but this is a league of it's own.
China is doing us overseas Chinese so proud!! They are doing things right back home in the motherland.
Chinese Hong Kong Torontonian here! Being Chinese always comes first over anything.
Can’t agree more ❤❤❤
Absolutely agree. As an overseas Chinese as well, am very proud to be one of the 炎黄子孙and anchored with the 5 thousand year old Chinese civilization.
It's good to know you are not brainwashed by Canada's relentless anti China fake news propaganda which completely echo that of their US master
watch out. haters coming! ha......................
Yes we are too, love from New Zealand 🇳🇿
As a Chinese, I must say that ur mandarin is so good as an English native speaker. Thanks for the amazing vlog and hope you guys enjoy the trip!!!
Thank you so much 🥰
Yeah she speaks like English native but when she reads the sign 乍x浦 I am sure her Chinese is as good as an educated Chinese .
Dude she's Chinese
@@user-nq5ke4mf5x She grew up in Canada, she is a native speaker of English.

A whole month? Woohoo! I'm so looking forward to this China series!
So many travel TH-camrs have been holding off for too long to visit this great country. I can't wait to see your experiences.
Even a month seems too little considering how big China is. We’ll only get a glimpse 😆
@@FloraandNote If you need more time, they have the 10 year visa. 😁
实际上想要深度自驾游玩新疆就需要一个月😂
Wow Shangai looks so clean and with so many Electric vehicles it must be the Quietest mega city in the world! So looking forward to seeing the rest of this trip 🙏🏽
We see e-bikes everywhere and they look super fun to ride! We’ll have to get some for our next video ☺️
It is very quiet, you actually have to be careful and look over your shoulder because you can barwly hear the cars near you.
China is amazing.
It's not only Shanghai that is clean. Even those 5th tier Chinese cities are cleaner than most US and India big cities.
Why is everyone who visits Shanghai mentioning Shanghai is QUIET? I grew up there and don't remember the city being anything NEAR quiet😂
@@thefourthrabbit9516they r talking about ev n ebikes
Just got back from an amazing trip through China and the Philippines, with my final stop in Shanghai. I absolutely loved Shanghai! The city's vibrant culture, incredible skyline, and the bustling streets are just unforgettable. The mix of modern and traditional elements is something you have to see to believe
It’s easy to love Shanghai 🥰
Everywhere is clean. No homeless
Yes dear, 9 out of 10 people have their houses. That's why you don't see homeless. Thanks Buddha!
这里是中国
Homeless people can receive government assistance, including job search,And there are really very few homeless people
In the 13 years I lived in Shanghai before 2012, I never saw a single homeless person and saw no more than five beggars.
Of course it's China.not the US,the UK,or Canada,French,or some country like that
I love this city ❤ Shanghai is such an underrated city! I lived in Shanghai for almost 8 years, missed it this city.
Thanks for the video! is taking me back all the good times I spent there 🥲
Glad we could do that for you 😊
Shanghai is underrated to the western audience because the West does not see other non-white countries as equal. The rest of the world loves Shanghai!!!
I am so glad you are traveling China! My family and I were there in 2019. There are over 2800 pairs of bullet trains to get you all over the country quickly (217 mph). Very clean. In the 4-hour ride from Bejing (Great Wall and Forbidden city) to Xian (Terra cotta soldiers) attendants swept 5 times and mopped 4 in our section alone. The nature, culture, temples and carved statues are going to blow your socks off!
🐼🐼🐼
Joe Biden is envious of Dictator Xi ( as called by JB) for doing such an excellent job to provide Chinese people and foreigners who live in Shanghai. He laments that US cities are full of homeless people, drug addicts and gun shooters, dirty streets and violence infested cities that the American people are afraid to walk in the streets at night., Compared to Chinese cities where people dance and stroll at night in the park is a contrast to behold. But he is too busy making wars around the world whereas Dictator Xi makes Chinese people happy and peaceful. .
Moved here from Toronto Canada just a month ago. We live right by Yuyuan Rd. Great to see some Canadians here!
You live in such a great location! We were saying we’d love to live near Yuyuan Road if we moved to Shanghai 😄
Why now so many westerners want to move to China either to live or work? Didn't they say before that China is an authoritarian country with no freedom? But now they are having the Chinese dream.
I live in Alberta, great informative video. What would you compare the cost of living there to a canadian city...
@@richardgadoury8452 if you dont buy an apartment only rent,it would be super comfortable life here, you can find both cheap and expensive lifestyle here depends on how you want to live.public transportation is way cheaper than any countries in Europe and north America.and in Shanghai most wage range from 6k to 20k RMB(1k-3k USD) depends on your skills and work experience,if you can find a job around 12k that would be a nice life here
@@richardgadoury8452 The cost of long-term residence and short-term travel cannot be compared. In fact, there are many people in Shanghai with low income who can still live a stable life in Shanghai.
Love to watch this Shanghai video that makes me want to visit Shanghai again 😍👍
We wish we had more time to explore Shanghai! There are so many nice neighbourhoods to explore ☺️
Excellent video, I first went to Shanghai 25 years ago, a lot has changed.
Time for a revisit! We don’t know what it used to be like but right now it’s one of our fav Asian cities to explore. Biking down the Suzhou Creek towards the Bund was a highlight for us.
In China time, that's like a 1,000 years !
That was right before Chinese economy started to take off.
In 25 years, Shanghai may have been updated twice~
@@anglohan5428 first thing you need to free is freeing your han chinese face from anglo saxon's systematic racism lmao
What an amazing and interesting video of Shanghai . .... so modern, super clean and very futuristic. Thanks a bunch for sharing this interesting video with us. Looking forward to the next episode of your China series.
We’re working on it! We have a bunch of beautiful and interesting places planned for this series, so stay tuned!

Cool to finally see your china videos 🙏 this one makes me miss Shanghai, one of my favorite places in China.
And wow, heat-tech pants at 10 degrees 😮 how would you survive negative temperatures? 😁
We really enjoyed Shanghai as well! Definitely will be back 😊 We survive negative temps by avoiding them haha
惊现肯高飞😂
@@FloraandNote You should go to Harbin for an extreme survival challenge ~ in winter of course ~
Big fan of your vlogs sir
Ken, I'm watching your latest video and seeing your experience. I think you should find a tour guide, otherwise you will face a lot of price discrimination
I am so excited you are in China!! The Forbidden City and theGreat Wall have always fascinated me. The history there is awesome!! My daughter is part Thai/Chinese. I have been to Thailand 3 times. I have not made it to China yet. Thank you🙏
Best Shanghai video I've ever seen!
Yay! That makes us so happy 😊 We really enjoyed Shanghai so we hope that shines thru in our video.
@@FloraandNote You truly did! it makes me miss my trip to Shanghai 3 years ago 😊
I went to Shanghai in November 2023. I love it so much. It is a clean, big, modern, nice, and SAFE city...I am sure I will go back again! love it!
chilly weather ,warm smile,cute couple
😊😊😊
That's the secret - no matter the 'weather', stay pure, kind and positive ...
I loved China 🇨🇳 really, many more people should go. The vibe is like none other.
Wow, great you visit Yuyuan Road! that area and the atmosphere can represent Shanghai in my mind.
We loved Yuyuan Road- so trendy, so chic, yet has a old charm to it. What a cool little neighbourhood. There are many more walking areas we have yet to explore in Shanghai.
Wow this metro map can make anyone feel overwhelmed. I'm from MTL and it's so tiny in comparison. Another very informative and enjoyable video. Thank U!!
Haha yeah it can be overwhelming. We’re just glad the map and station names are in both Chinese and English 😄
Welcome home! May your journey be filled with joy, excitement and peace!
13:47 Janet Yellen just went to China and demands the Chinese stop making so much EVs and selling them so cheap because it takes away American business, unreal. They want us stuck paying 55k for a gas powered minivan.
Good for American hegemonists, not good for global consumers
I just bought one costing me under 10k cad too th-cam.com/video/qw4OIi79eyE/w-d-xo.html
sadly, due to racist politicians, no one in America and Canada will get any techs from China...
when the Americans think...
"cell phone companies are all spies"
"DJI is a spying device"
"TikTok is sending ur data to China"
if you run a Chinese EV company, will you export to America right now? I don't think so... wait til the whole world are full of Chinese EV, then maybe they will consider exporting to America... you will be lucky to see them in Mexico at most lol
Thank you for showing us Shanghai city, very nice. You two have a good time there and stay safe.
Thank you for the warm welcome 😊
Love the content, so much different from other youtuber.... make me want to visite Shanghai.... keep up the good work!!!!!!
Thank you so much 😊 Shanghai was a great starting point for us .. we’re excited to show you more beautiful places in the upcoming videos!

What a nice video about Shanghai, it's true and it's so beautiful. Don't get message about China from TV or newspaper, go and see this great country.
This man looks very similar to a Chinese actor.,zhuyawen,朱亚文

Watching this video brought a huge smile on my face. Thank you! ❤
Flora at 22:27, so adorable. Love your enthusiasm for new places. Shanghai looks like such a vibe. Love how people use parks in Asia, such a communal joy in sharing, dancing, playing music etc
It’s pretty surreal seeing the iconic skyline in person 😍
Fantastic Flora and Note, keep the videos and stories coming.😃

Hi flora and note,
I have to admit that you guys are my and my girlfriend favorite TH-camr!
We love you guys a lot. You guys are authentic, sweet and happy couple, a true treasure.
Will you guys go Tibet since you are in china already?
If you are allowed to or can go Tibet would be absolutely awesome.
Love that word authentic : be true and positive : )
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻 Your comment made our day! I think going to Tibet requires a separate travel permit. We’ll have to look into it.
@@FloraandNote well it is my pleasure. That’s absolutely true that you require special permit to go Tibet. It must be easier for you guys since you are foreigners unlike it is almost impossible for Tibetans from outside to go back our motherland to visit sadly
This is going to be an awesome series. 10C sounds lovely. I can't wait for the weather here whew I am to go up to 10F

Beautiful Shanghai.... Thanks for sharing 🎉
I never had an interest in seeing China much , I've had a family member that studied in Beijing and some very bad experiences. your vlog has changed my mind and now when we retire to Thailand in a few years, I'm going to Shanghai. People look friendly, food looks awesome, climate is my kind of temp. Love the EVs we own a Tesla Y and we're big believers in the Ezv movement. Hope you guys stay warm . Seems you're struggling a bit with the change in temp from Thailand. Be well and make great memories.❤❤❤
Foreigners in China generally enjoy preferential treatment, especially in the past few years. If you have had a bad experience in China in this situation, I think you should reflect on yourself.
@yongzhu8454 it was my niece study mandarin at Beijing, she was robbed at her hotel
@@PeeJay3714 Which year did that happen?
@@PeeJay3714 As a Chinese local, the word "robbed" seems like a word that was only mentioned 20 years ago. Especially in Beijing, this is even more incredible. If your niece seeks help from the police, she will definitely be taken seriously, because the police can quickly locate the robber through CCTV, and this kind of robbery case is easy to detect and has a generous reward for police.
@@yongzhu8454 about 12 years ago
Thanks for sharing.
Loved this vlog guys! I’ve been wanting to visit China so long this is making me consider getting the visa now haha
Haha you should apply! There’s so much to explore and it’s very convenient to travel between cities via high speed train. It’s a fun place to film because everything is visually appealing and new to us 😄
China has visa-less program for a limited time and certain cities. Check it out.
Hi Flora and Note Welcome back to China. Welcome to your 1ST Day in Shanghai. I had to laugh out loud when Note said it’s so cold and laughed again when Flora said she had 5 layers on because I just checked the weather for today, shows 60 degrees and sunny. That is definitely T-shirt and shorts for me. That street looks amazing and park too. I am so happy that you both joined in and went dancing in the park. Scallion pancake looks yummy. I could tell that Note really enjoyed the thin pork chop after taking his 1ST bite from his reaction. I laughed with Flora when she dropped the bun. Pork yum, crab must be delicious. Absolutely love seeing all the buildings lit up at night. So Sad when Flora said your going somewhere else, ONLY 1 Video in Shanghai. Absolutely Loved Every Second // Absolutely Outstanding From Start To Finish
Soooo right : )
Thank you Drew 😊🙏🏻 We always look forward to reading your comments. Haha we’re so weak when it comes to cold weather … but somehow the cold wind after sunset in Shanghai is really another level of cold!

I think I prefer Flora and Note's travel videos because they spend most of the time showing the sights and activities in the places they visit. So many other travel TH-camrs focus so much on their hotel rooms, even when their room isn't particularly special at all. It just feels like a commercial for the property and isn't very interesting. Flora and Note are like: "We stayed here. It was clean, convenient, and a good price," and then show more important things.
I went to an exchange program in Shanghai during college, and it is definitely one of the best cities I've ever lived in!
