Confused here, an avid gardener, tea doesn't grow in the zones in the mountains you are visiting. Wonder why they say they delivered over mountains to areas that may have climate to grow? Tea had specific climate, and mountain is not one
Tea grows in Puer, another place of Yunnan province, a couple of hundreds of kilometers south of Lijiang. When you take a flight to Kunming the capital of Yunnan, if you hop on a train going west, you end up in Lijiang. If you go south, you arrive in Xishuangbanna and Puer is along the way. They all belong to Yunnan province, China. @@michelebushnik2874
@@ManwithNoName-t1o Mao Zedong had already passed away when I was born. Mao Zedong ruled China for 26 years, and China has a history of more than 3,000 years. I think Mao was a bastard. There were many such bastards in Chinese history. They did influence Chinese culture, but no one can erase all Chinese cultural traditions.
Went to China several years ago for a college trip and fell so much in love with the country and the culture. This video gives me dreams of going back one day. Thank you!
I've always known Yunnan is a province with breathtaking landscapes and well-preserved cultures because I'd read it in our geography textbooks in high school as well as on various travel shows on TV. I've been wanting to visit Yunnan for decades and I'm so glad to find your video and see LiJiang through your lens. While I was watching it I found my eyes brimming with tears. I'm Taiwanese, and we love China. My husband and I have decided to take our kids to visit Yunnan and Sichuan next year
I'm just watching this a month after its posting, but I must say that there needs to be a 'love' button. 'Like' is not strong enough to describe the enjoyment of this video. So much like an amazing documentary. Well done!
I really appreciate these videos, China's always been quite far down on my list of places to visit simply because of what we see in the media. It's pretty close to the top now!
I went to china late last year and honeslty the media narrative was easily broken. I super love my time in Chongqing specially the karst and easily China became my favorite destination in east Asia. Will visit yunnan next cant wait
just walk outside the gate that says "Lijiang World Heritage Site" and its pretty much a ghetto. The ghetto is reall China, the beautiful restored historic area is "fake" China. Yes, its a real historic city, but its a historic Disney World, it's tourist park.
As a Chinese, I hope you will stop spreading rumors. In fact, there are no slums in China. Moreover, we have more than 50 provinces in China, each of which is very rich, and there are more than 100,000 such scenic spots. I visit different scenery several times every year. I think foreign countries are not as good as I expected, and they are not safe.
Your personal tour of China was amazing, so beautiful, eye opening and different from what we Westerners general see. What a groovy experience for you two and of course, for us. Stay true to your dreams.
Welcome such friendly foreign friends to visit China. As a Chinese, I can tell you that China has an extremely safe environment, friendly people, countless natural beauty, historic sites, a long culture, and an endless variety of cuisines. China is a treasure for all travel lovers!
I’m happy to say my wife and I visited Lijiang in November of 2012. Thanks for bringing back the memories and sharing the beauty of this ancient town to the world!
I am Chinese living in the US ! Thanks for showing us all the beautiful sceneries. Life made it harder for me to travel but I am so glad that you guys brought me to such a beautiful place. I know there are a lot of negative comments about my country but I really wanna share some of my opinions. We have a long history , some were bad and some were good just like every other corner of the world . However , our government is transforming little bit by little bit to make it a better place for the people who are living there. I feel kinda frustrated about the western media being dishonest about our country , or they only revealed the partial stories . We have 10 billions people living there , there are pros and cons as well . I just hope the world can be more peaceful , less hatred and less conflict At the end of the day , we are all humans! Wish you guys well and happy traveling ❤
Being from Pakistan, it sad that we dpn't know much about our neighboring country and this video truly opened my eyes. This is the China i desperately want to visit, the ancient towns, their history, civilization, culture, local cuisines, beautiful alleyways, and traditional attires. Truly a wonderful experience watching this.
@@achtungbaby2009that has nothing to do with the comment this gentleman has made. He simply wants to travel to China, plus not all Muslims follow strict religious rules. There's chicken, beef, vegetarian food available and he doesn't need a mosque to make his daily prayers. Maybe you should travel yourself to open your mind up to different people and cultures. Making assumptions about people simply from the place they come from is a problem Chinese people also face, have some consideration please.
That was amazing: one of your best films yet, and it's not just the places (stunning as they are); You guys do travel logs better than absolutely anyone, even on network or cable TV covering not just the attractions but the underlying issues like history, language and culture, plus you do it with zero resouces (whilst they have dozens of camera and sound men, key grips researchers, production assitants etc. ) and because you're paying for stuff yourselves, you keep it real as per time and money, and yet the camerawork, the editing, the sound... absolutely perfect! I hope that, even when you get on your boat and on the ocean, you won't just do beaches and coves, and will still, ocasionally, do more of this stuff because you are just too damn good at it not to!
And the song at 7:46 as well! I just copy and paste my separate comment here: That song is called "The Dream Chaser", written by the legendary LO Ta-yu for the legendary writer, SAN Mao! Jason and Nikki may not know the Chinese lyrics, but the song is so fitting in this video, like it is partly written for them, for this travel vlog in this heavenly place. 天造地设!
Absolutely beautiful video! The first temperature on the mountain when you got off the gaundila was the same as it was in Dallas today, 23° and feels like 11°, with light snow on the ground. Can't wait for ya'll to be on your new boat and back on the water. Safe travels!
It looks like something out of a fairytale.... What an incredible place! Love that you support the local economy and the artists that create amazing goods. 😍
In the military, I was fortunate enough to travel to almost 50 different countries. Your channel, and these China videos in particular, have confirmed my experience and belief that people are generally peaceful and friendly all over the world. Thanks for pointing this out everywhere you go.
The more we travel the less bias we have. People on this planet, though have very different living status, but all just want to live their own peaceful life. Politicians made people believe everyone wants wars.
Not Americans lmao, I lived in the states for a decade, visited more than 50 cities or so, and met some of the worst people. You step on their lawn, they come out and draw their rifle. The local Tmobile stores and convenient stores clerks are working behind bulletproof glass. People get beaten up just because they "stared at people for more then 3 seconds" lol , I had to constantly check if I was being followed by black people when I was walking alone in Chicago or dwontown L.A, it was scary to go out after sunset especially being Asian, it was abserd.
Because chaos is a ladder. Of course not for the normal people, but only the really vey powerful ones are able to climb up the ladder. While the normal people? They become the 'ladder' itself. So the super powers can't help triggering chaos all over the world. They want to be always climbing up something.
In China, people are generally friendly ...ESPECIALLY if you speak the language as their English is basic, if at all. They'd go out of their way to assist and engage.
I am really glad you guys show the world a real China view. Which the people are kind, the views are magnificent. Well done! And I hope most of the people all over the world come to China with an open mind and understanding.
Thank you so much for this BEAUTIFUL video! I was at one point crying just looking at the Beauty of the city! The culture and pride of the Naxi people. I’m amazed! 🌟👏❤️💐
I am so thankful that you two native Texans have opened up the vast and beautiful legacy of the Chinese people. I was fortunate enough to have learned from my father, a busy physician and good ol’ boy from east and west Texas, who, in his off time, studied the horticultural practices of a society claiming close inheritance from what nature shows them. Grace, mercy and honor always among their interactions with all of nature and its inhabitants. Of course I said all this without mention of governing bodies, just referring to the simple masses of humans. I haven’t any knowledge of how the Chinese rulers and religion fit into their respect for what nature displays to them. At any rate it is high time more people become aware of their significant contributions 😢to our world knowledge.
This is no longer just a travelogue. It is an immersion into a wondrous culture with beautiful people in a stunning natural and man-made setting. I am overwhelmed and cannot even imagine how it must make you both feel. Thank you!!!
This was such a beautiful episode! Really enjoyed watching it, although no boats! ☺ Thank you! You guys are beautiful! Ever considered posting in 4k? All those wonderful landscapes and places look so much better in a higher resolution! Lots of love to you!
Holy crow! How stunningly amazing all of it is! Thirty-two minutes is hardly enough time to take it all in, but once again, you did a fabulous job giving us a glimpse. ❤❤
I agree..... pretty sure I could have watched hours and hours of video. An amazing place that I never knew I needed to see until this little peek. Thank you Nikki and Jason.
I'm lucky enough to have visited Yunnan and particularly 丽江 on my once every three-year backpacking trips to China before I was disabled by cancer. Your videos is so nicely done. Thank you.
These last two videos are the very essence of Gone with the Wynns, I`ve been spellbound! Obviously a tourist town yet you managed to get beyond that and engage with the locals. Surprise to me was the chinese coffee ! Splash day is drawing ever closer, fair winds guys xx
Years ago I found your channel when you bought your first "sailboat" and didn't even know how to sail. What kept me interested over all these years is your amazing video's of places that most of us will never be able to see. Thank you so much for what you do every week. It means a lot to many people.
I’ve been watching you two since the motorhome days and have always enjoyed your videos. However I was blown away by these last two in China. What wonderful scenery and friendly people. It’s so refreshing to see what a country is truly like without all the political spin. I doubt I’ll ‘find myself in China’ but makes me want to go. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place ❤
"It'll change your perspective on everything." I absolutely agree - the most valuable thing I got from my time in the US military is having gone to multiple countries. I was not your typical US serviceman, I was in the habit of researching where we were going (a little more time consuming in the 1960s) and staying away from the bars and brothels, instead mingling with the locals (as much as we were allowed to) and learning how similar we all are. I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything! Fantastic episode, thank you for letting us tag along!
I am a TV directer, I’ve never seen a vlog like this in my life! this is the beeeest vlog about China! Even for broadcasting standard!Kudos to you guys! it’s stunning! Epic! music, editing, everything is exceptional! Talk to a producer, pretty sure you can make your own show if you guys want!
9:00 This song is called 'If Heaven Has Feelings' and it is the most beautiful song of my father's era. My father and I often have different opinions, but we both highly agree on the elegance of this song.
As a Chinese who has never been to Yunnan, I was deeply shocked by the beautiful scenery here. Thank you for your video. Yunnan, the next travel destination, scheduled.
I can’t believe I liked this video… I thought I was going to hate it but boy was I wrong. I was expecting a travel log, but what I got was an awakening into one of the most beautiful scenery if not the most beautiful place on the planet. Everywhere you looked was a scene out of this world. Thank you so much for trekking to the end of the earth to bring us this amazing experience.
No one can resist Yunnan; you won't find a place like this anywhere else on the planet. It is a land where tropical rainforests and snow-capped mountains coexist, where coconuts and apples are both cultivated. It boasts priceless sunshine and air, serves as the world's earliest tea-producing region, and is also the newest coffee-producing area. Additionally, Yunnan is home to Asia's largest flower cultivation base and wholesale market, housing half of China's plant species. Culturally, there are 25 ethnic minorities along with their unique civilizations. Some still preserve pictographic writing systems and matrilineal social customs. Yunnan even has its own "sea" - a vast and beautiful lake that locals call "Erhai (Er Sea)." And indeed, it is fitting, as every winter, seagulls from Siberia fly here to spend the cold months. They enjoy it so much that they stay longer with each passing year.
Oooooh WOW! I said it last week and I’ll say it again. BEAUTIFUL! In the first minute I had tears. Just glad it’s you guys Jason and Nikki climbing those ladders not me. You must be having a blast taking lots of footage to be over 20 minutes. I’m loving every second of it!
I watched so many China travel vlogs recently but yours gave a different vibe and love that you are so active and exploring the mountains and trails in China. It was fun to explore with you guys via your video!
As a local chinese, big thanks to quality videos like this. Chinese people are open and friendly, we got the best infrastructure and scenery for travel
Wow, your honesty is refreshing! It's amazing how travel can often exceed our expectations. Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm inspired to visit China someday too!
While I miss your adventures at sea, I've got to tell you that this China excursion you've taken and documented is GREAT! Thank you so much for bringing me along.
WOW.... there are not words thank can describe this trip for the beauty and culture. You will NEVER forget this trip and thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, for taking us along.🥰
I fell in love with Yunnan few years ago when I travelled there. It’s just stunning and beautiful. You also did such amazing job making this video which can show the beauty of Yunnan.
I hiked Tiger Leaping Gorge in the summer of 2003 when I was backpacking around China by myself. Can’t believe that was 20 years ago! It was one of the sketchiest experiences of my life, but so worth it! After hiking for hours, I took a tiny little boat/raft from one side of the raging gorge to the other. We had to squat down so we didn’t throw off the balance of the raft! I had met a very friendly Chinese couple in Lijiang who ended up doing the hike with me. What an incredible/thrilling experience that I’ll never forget!
I was there in 2006, also backpacking by myself! 😀It changed a lot, but Lijiang was already "Disneylandish" 20 years ago. I prefer it more authentic. The more up and north you go, the less tourists ;-) (Deqen and along the burmese border).
@@fpking-u1b That's a good question, and I'm equally curious. China has always been there. . . But people’s views on China have been changing The media plays a very important role in this process.
@@fpking-u1b Because of red scare. Western world has been afraid of communism. But communism is not even practiced in real life in china and is just a slogan. Also, even real communism has good side and bad side, as all things do. Western schools only teach people on the bad side.
China actually have the most UNESCO world nature heritages and so many extremely beautiful landscapes. been there in 2004 when I was 6, the ancient town looks much more beautiful than it was 20 years ago. At the time the road was also bad, we took 6 hours to cover some 120km journey. Glad to see its huge development.
Tourism does keep these gems alive, even if a little less authentic, they live and traditions survive and change modernity by the city people experiencing another way of life. So all in all, very much a positive, imo.

Five years ago, I was in China and fell ill. I walked 10 minutes to the pharmacy at 1 a.m. to buy medicine. Last summer, I went to China again and ate too much for dinner and supper. I felt uncomfortable in my stomach and needed to buy medicine again. But this time, I didn’t have to go out to buy it myself. I bought it through the Meituan APP. After I paid, it was delivered to the hotel 20 minutes later. The hotel robot delivered it to my room. It was really convenient and safe.

Tea grows in Puer, another place of Yunnan province, a couple of hundreds of kilometers south of Lijiang. When you take a flight to Kunming the capital of Yunnan, if you hop on a train going west, you end up in Lijiang. If you go south, you arrive in Xishuangbanna and Puer is along the way.

just walk outside the gate that says "Lijiang World Heritage Site" and its pretty much a ghetto.

@@achtungbaby2009Wrong, the peoples in this town are mostly ethnic Naji tribe.
@@achtungbaby2009that has nothing to do with the comment this gentleman has made. He simply wants to travel to China, plus not all Muslims follow strict religious rules. Chinese people love Pakistan and its people.
Such a beautiful place. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life.
I totally agree. Love this channel more than anything else on TH-cam

In the military, I was fortunate enough to travel to almost 50 different countries. Your channel, and these China videos in particular, have confirmed my experience and belief that people are generally peaceful and friendly all over the world. Thanks for pointing this out everywhere you go.
People love peace,not war.
Thank you for your kind words about the real China.
