I'm from the UK. Italians are generally much more fun, friendly, and have better cuisine. In fact I think London, for the average person, has better food than Paris IMO.

Yeah, went to Minsk with a couple of friends a couple of years ago. Before recent events transpired ... One night we went to a club in the city center. They played american 90's rap music, of all things, that people (and we) danced along to. Amazing :) My friend tried to ingratiate himself by saying something mildly critical about Sweden and it's immigration. The young belarussian dude just really calmly said "Here we like all kinds of people". At least that one chill dude really seemed to believe it. Also met a nice elderly man who laid flowers at the feet of a statue of Pushkin. Know a little bit of russian, so tried to speak to him :) Not trying to gloss over the very real problems with the political system, and only saw a miniscule part of the country/society. Still, it was quite the experience.

I think making these videos is very important. At times like these it is easy to categorize entire populations by the acts of the people in charge. These videos show that ordinary people live, think and act very much alike, no matter the country they live in. I think understanding that, contributes to peace on its own.

I'm from the Netherlands and it has been my favourite country since I was a kid. As a kid I've been there many times on holiday and as an adult I still like to go there. Kind and hospitable people, beautiful country and ofcourse the good beer of Czech Republic. I'm pretty sure the Czech Republic is quite popular as a holiday destination for us Dutch people.

I was in Rome with class in 2011, I don't think there could be a more interesting place in the world anywhere. but we had a Latin teacher with us, so he could tell the history of every place we visited. we went there by overnight train from munich. I fell asleep somewhere near the "Brenner" in the alps and woke up 30 min before Rome. most relaxed travel one can imagine. I'm still thinking about the city....good memories :)

Almost everyone I’ve ever met is fascinated by Italy and its history. I’m not sure if the food I’m eating is authentic Italian but it’s always been my favorite. I’ve been a lot of places but never Italy unfortunately. Maybe one day I’ll get to visit. It’s definitely on my bucket list -Californian.

They mentioned the Czech Republic because of its architecture. The architecture of most cities is German/Austrian. The Czechs only lived as farmers in the surrounding countryside.

Many of our cities have germanic origin or influence because czechs lived with germans and austrians peacefully together for centuries and we share many aspects of culture especially with bavarians and austrians. As a Russian, I was surprised that some Belarusians talked about their country, that it was not as clean as somewhere there. In fact, Belarus is a very clean and well-groomed country, not to mention nature, its forests. Even in Russia, unfortunately, cleanliness is not so good. I'm from Volgograd myself. If I was asked where I would like to visit, it would be Germany and specifically Hamburg. A dream from school. In one of your earlier uploads, you posed this same question to Russian people, and I can't quite pin down what gave it away--tone of voice, eye contact, or whatever--but I swear I could almost smell their extra mental calculus of what the "correct" answer was supposed to be instead of just giving the true answer. I don't think I fully realized they were doing it until I saw this video, where that calculus is completely absent. Every one of these people is an open book, and it's so refreshing.

I have a huge dream to visit Latvia. A long time ago, at the age of 14, I began to be interested in its history, language. My grandmother told me how beautiful Riga is. This video made me realize how much I take my freedom to travel for granted. I was lucky to visit many of the countries mentioned here (even lived in some of them for a while) and if someone told me that when I was 12 I would not have believed it. I was lucky that the totalitarian regime in my country collapsed in 1989 - my life is so much better because of it and sometimes I forget how lucky I am.

Interesting people with so many dreams to look forward to living. And the one young lady toward the beginning was partially right, it's the people who are so interesting. Just vacationed in Japan. What a fascinating country! So different than America. It's the way that the people organize themselves in each country, aka their culture, that's so fascinating. However, she undersells the geography. So much of a culture is how the people respond to the gifts and the challenges that their geography give them. It's one of the things that's so fascinating about my country, America. We have cold, harsh climates, we have extremely hot desert climates, mountainous regions, flat plains, forested areas, tropical islands, etc. Every ecosystem pulls different things from the people that live there.

I was in Rome with class in 2011, I don't think there could be a more interesting place in the world anywhere. but we had a Latin teacher with us, so he could tell the history of every place we visited. we went there by overnight train from munich. I fell asleep somewhere near the "Brenner" in the alps and woke up 30 min before Rome. most relaxed travel one can imagine. I'm still thinking about the city....good memories :)

As a Russian, I was surprised that some Belarusians talked about their country, that it was not as clean as somewhere there. In fact, Belarus is a very clean and well-groomed country, not to mention nature, its forests. Even in Russia, unfortunately, cleanliness is not so good. I'm from Volgograd myself. If I was asked where I would like to visit, it would be Germany and specifically Hamburg. A dream from school. Besides, a lot is connected with German, as well as I like German discipline and economics

I cannot fail to mention Karina Lakerbai (fencing) and Victor Mirshawka (basketball), people born in Belarus, but who came to Brazil as children and marked their names in the history of Brazilian sport. If one day Masha comes here, she will be very welcome.

In one of your earlier uploads, you posed this same question to Russian people, and I can't quite pin down what gave it away--tone of voice, eye contact, or whatever--but I swear I could almost smell their extra mental calculus of what the "correct" answer was supposed to be instead of just giving the true answer. I don't think I fully realized they were doing it until I saw this video, where that calculus is completely absent. Every one of these people is an open book, and it's so refreshing.

This video made me realize how much I take my freedom to travel for granted. I was lucky to visit many of the countries mentioned here (even lived in some of them for a while) and if someone told me that when I was 12 I would not have believed it. I was lucky that the totalitarian regime in my country collapsed in 1989 - my life is so much better because of it and sometimes I forget how lucky I am.

i appreciate these videos. I've never considered what a Belarusian would be like and, as usual, the people that you interview are...people. Interesting people with so many dreams to look forward to living. And the one young lady toward the beginning was partially right, it's the people who are so interesting. Just vacationed in Japan. What a fascinating country! So different than America. It's the way that the people organize themselves in each country, aka their culture, that's so fascinating. However, she undersells the geography. So much of a culture is how the people respond to the gifts and the challenges that their geography give them. It's one of the things that's so fascinating about my country, America. We have cold, harsh climates, we have extremely hot desert climates, mountainous regions, flat plains, forested areas, tropical islands, etc. Every ecosystem pulls different things from the people that live there.

I’m surprised how many people said the USA and mentioned they like that people smile more. I knew that smiling a lot is just not a thing people do in these countries, like smiling at passersby, for example, I was told didn’t really happen in Russia/Belarus. If I ever visit I know that’ll out me as American, but it warms my heart to see that there are folks that do like it!

I’m going by what my Russian instructors said, partially, but also, even in the US we have places where people definitely don’t smile at people walking by and it’s seen as weird. It surprises me to find out that a place I’ve been told is like that, isn’t. Hell, if I went to New York and random folks on the subway started smiling at me I’d get nervous, or think that I’d entered a new dimension
