There is a common trend in the U.S. where married women are leaving their husbands. My wife got pregnant from another man while we were married. She left me and our 12yr old son and had the baby with the other guy. Now she's with a totally different guy. I raised my son, homeschooled him, sent him to college, now we work together and are building his first house. I ended up finding who I thought was my true love while my son was in college. We married and had some good years, but she ended up leaving as well, after I supported her to get her bachelor's and master's degree. Women approach me often to date me, but now I wonder what they hope to get out of me. I don't think they're intentions are really to go through life together, but rather what they can get out of a man before going to the next man. I want to share life with someone special, but it's hard to trust anymore. I just focus on sharing life with my son and my brother, sister, and father. Hopefully I could find someone, but I don't know how to believe a woman's true intentions anymore.

As an asian, i was in a relationship with a russian girl for around 2-3 years. It was a dream at first, we understood and were honest to each other. She was the first love of my life. Then she began to contradict herself in some cases and i grew distrustful. We tried to talk things out, we broke up and reunited. It wasnt meant to be and we walked our separate ways. Before you date a russian girl, you need to see the world first, you need to grow up and become the better person in the relationship.

I have a Russian wife as well LOL. But my story is entirely different - we both grew up in the same city in Eastern Europe - I was born there, and her parents moved there for work; and we've known each other from childhood. It made a huge difference since we are from very similar cultures, and we speak Russian at home (since my Russian is a lot better than her Lithuanian!).
As for some of the comments here, that a lot of thse girls can be gold-diggers who just want citizenship in a Western country - yes that can be very true. You just have to be careful. If she is hot and has a super-outgoing personality, and you're an average-looking introverted guy, it is too obvious she is only interested in your Western passport. Look for a girl that matches your looks, and more importantly, matches your personality. I've seen how quiet mild-mannered girls just go overlooked because they do not draw attention to themselves.

Let me help you. They really dont care much about leaving their firends because they say they can find new friends. But they will stay in touch with female friends but rarely a male friend, so you never need to worry about them going back to old boyfriend etc. Next, family. Yes it is hard for them to leave parents only for the most part, but they always say they will visit someday, so they do not think of it as they are in another country, but as though they are much closer.

Yep. Compatibility both culturally and genetically, as well as in terms of personality type, is the most important thing when It comes to long-term relationships. Way more important than the momentary feelings of "love" and lust which are just temporary and will fade eventually, leaving you with a person you no longer feel any kind of passion anymore, who you aren't actually compatible with. So if you want an actual relationship and a functional marriage, for the love of god, marry within your own ethnic group with someone you actually get along with.

Personal integrity matters most because marriage is partnership in every way. If you can't trust your partner or friend it won't work.

"Soulmate." Now that was is a key word mentioned by one of the interviewees. The most important factors in a relationship are character, personality, interests not too wide apart, and similar culture (easier to understand each other) makes life easier.
Looks come far down the list for a relationship. A healthy relationship is built on love, not lust. Lust is attraction to looks, and that can lead to love, but it is not love in itself. The tendency in the West of falling in lust is one of the primary causes of the high divorce rate.
Love is deeper, soul to soul, and then looks are not so important.

You are great at interviewing Ruskies! I've been there twice and noticed strangers aren't as approachable as in my city in CA. I have a Russian wife but she certainly didn't come here to find a husband - she came here to learn English better and married one of her teachers! PS she made way more money than I ever did!

I think that the stereotype comes from the fact that there are websites for foreigners men to find a Russian wife. And I think there are a couple of Americans films about Russian "mail wife".
When women (or men) look abroad for a partner they possibly had bad experiences with guys (or women) in their country. Some they feel that they are better off (economically and/or socially) in another place.

Have a friend that is married to a Russia lady, she has taught him a lot about her country. He even speak a little Russian. She said that he like to cook and clean their house. That’s something she had to get use to. She likes it because he helps her in the house. Plus she like his cooking better. She also likes playing with his woolly hair. And he tries to understand what she thinking and why. She said she wants to take him to Russia and he wants to go. I am so happy for them. The world is getting smaller.

i worked in moscow for 1 year, my russian is limited, but i didn't know anyone who spoke english anywhere near as well as you and your guests. i totally agree, communication is crucial. and, i came to russia from south beach, miami which was ground zero for international modeling industry - but i saw the mist beautiful girls - hundreds and hundreds of them - in Russia. So elegant, so full of life, so stylish. i was in my 20s and wow, what a wonderful experience. i am an old fat dad now, married 20 years to my soulmate. i wouldn't trade a single moment of my current life for the life of my memory. happily, i am not required to! i love the memories, and wish usa were culturally like Russia today . You look healthy, happy, centered. PS I wonder if you would consider a series about worship and religions in Russia?
